not to like, hop on the fuck tumblr train that’s been going around but choo choo motherfuckers i have an idea for a social media platform that will be completely feral. if you know coding (bc i do not) and you want to actually genuinely help with this let me know!! because i think i have something fun here.
at the beginning of the most recent wave of stupid updates that tumblr has so wonderfully (/s) supplied us, and when twitter became x, i realized that there’s kind of a gap in the market of a genuinely good social media platform and i was split between two options in my head.
Orbital, a “serious” social media platform that would have a lot of themes around space and take itself seriously as a genuine competitor for the virtual black hole that x and instagram and facebook has left over the last few years.
or Foolery, a less serious social media platform that would not take itself seriously and lean into the fuckery that is tumblr and twitter and somehow combine them, with themes around the circus and other performative careers.
can you guess which one i want to do?
(Foolery, it’s Foolery. i am obsessed with this stupid idea.)
so, i have put some thought into this. like, not a lot, but more than none! here is a few of the basics that i have thought about:
The sign-in/sign-up page would have a randomized slogan from a list of however many we come up with. ‘Welcome to the show’, ‘a place for tricks and treats’, ‘a place filled with shenanigans’ etc
Home Icon - a big top circus tent, where you would end up doom scrolling content. this would have two different modes, similar to tumblr, it would default to chronological, but you could also chose to participate in an algorithm.
Profile Icon - a clown nose, on desktop every time you click on it, it honks like a clown nose does. view your account here.
Creating a post would be called ‘Create an Act’ with different forms available—text, picture, video, poll, etc. the icon for this would be a quill.
Followers would be labeled as the Audience, which would be toggle-able, by default this is set to private, which means that only the owner of the account would be able to see the number, but can be turned public. There would also be an option to just list your Troupe, which would be your mutuals.
There are three admin accounts—Tom, Foolery, and Tomfoolery. Foolery is the publicity, Tom is the cryptid user that appears randomly to comment on peoples post, and Tomfoolery is updates, polling, feedback, etc.
Tickets are notifications as a whole—how many interactions with the post there are, whether that’s likes (peanuts), reposts (unnamed, maybe just reposts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), comments, etc.
Peanuts are likes. It means you enjoyed the Act (post). maybe feeds the algorithm.?
Golden Tickets are similar to blaze—you can use a Golden Ticket to boost an Act, whether it’s your own or another person’s, so it shows up as a recommended Act for more people in the same fandom/side of Foolery.
now onto the even less thought out ideas, but things that have been on my mind:
I want there to be a tagging system similar to tumblr, but a filtering system similar to ao3? idk if that makes sense, but my basic thoughts are: +tags are used to add to a certain tag and can be searched using that tag. -tags are used to exclude that tag, and can be used to avoid the tag itself. (ex. a post tagged with ‘+steddie’ would be able to be searched using the tag, but a post tagged ‘-steddie’ would specifically be excluded from that tag, but still used as a kind of ‘content warning’ type thing, like ‘-tw blood’ or something similar)
Tragedy/Comedy masks? idk what for, but i think they’d be fun.
Jester Hat - used to signify ‘official’ accounts? i doubt companies or celebrities would use Foolery because obviously but like. just in case, we can publicly shame them for using the literal clown app.
porn. nudity. whatever. nsfw SAFE babes. all your porn is welcome.
anti-ai sorry not really lol
and that’s all the thinking i’ve done about it. but like. i think it would be fun to create, i just don’t have the knowledge nor the resources to actually create a website or app. and if you couldn’t tell, it’s definitely slightly inspired by tumblr minus all of the bs that it’s doing lmao.
so. dm me ig? if you wanna do anything with this? i warn you now: idk what i am doing. i don’t have a discord set up or anything. and! nothing will probably come out of this. however!! it might be a fun project to fuck around with. my roommate is trying to learn coding and one of my closest online friends is in college for it, but i know nothing about it whatsoever and i think that we three people cannot do this alone.

Whump Prompt #1322
Anon asked:
Do you have any whump ideas for a fairy?
It depends on what kind of fairy your character is/the general lore, but I have a few ideas:
They could be small and kept in a cage/jar with air holes. They could be a prized possession to collectors who trade them. Maybe some like to shake/shock/poke things into the cages.
Their wings are often trophy pieces for hunters. Maybe they don’t die when their wings are cut off, but it throws them off balance/makes them sick/weakens them. Maybe they can grow back, but only under certain circumstances. So if a collector knows this, they could leave the ‘stem’ of the wings so they can re-grow, and farm the wings for money.
^ if this happens to your character, maybe each wings have finger-print like properties, and when wings start to show up on the markets with specific markings, the caretakers are horrified.
Magic exhaustion could be pretty common for fairies.
I have an idea for an illness called ‘Wing Rot’ where fairies can get fungal infections of the wings causing them to, well, rot.
They could be drained of their powers by a curse/rune/magical pendant/shackles.
Maybe they have to fly away from danger but get shot out of the sky - bonus points if they’re carrying someone.

Under the cut is an extremely long post that probably doesn’t make any sense. You’ve been warned.
Before going into this deep dive, I want to give a couple of reference photos to help share what my mind is/was thinking:
With these in mind, I have broken up my thoughts into parts called painting/office décor (one specific spot in Rebecca’s office), earrings, and 8. There are two subcategories: one for office called ring and the other for 8 called 28. I definitely was focused on the connection to Ted and Rebecca with these thoughts. Lbr, I probably missed things here and there.
Painting/Office Décor: This painting has reminded/made me think about the infinity symbol but broken and missing the other half. This broken infinity sign kind of looks like a simple fish drawing to me, too. Be a goldfish. There are two rings just hanging out but pushed together would be an 8 on its side or an infinity sign. Also just two rings, who doesn’t kind of think of wedding bands...
Season 1 from left to right: 1: reference of the location/focus from episode 8, 2: episode 1, 3: episode 2 barely in the background, but it goes with my thought connected to the Magician tarot card, 4&5: episode 2, 6: episode 3, 7: episode 5, 8&9: episode 6, 10, 11 & 12: episode 8, 13&14 episode 9, 15&16 episode 10.
Just some notes the framing of this painting when Ted sits in the chair to the right is my Magician tarot card thought. Image 8 with Rebecca’s laptop open showing her and Bex’s in ring/circle photos with that corner of the office in frame. The next few scenes of this image do have Sam coming into her office, but I did not include that. It all seems telling.
Season 2 from left to right: 1&2: episode 1, 3: episode 5, 4: episode 12
I did leave out a scene from episode 2 when Ted gives Rebecca her biscuits after trying to give them to Dr. Sharon. The painting and this corner of the office is barely in frame so I did not include it. Also I did not include episode 3 when Flo was was in the office again barely in frame.
Season 3 from left to right: 1: episode 1, 2: episode 2 3: episode 3, 4: episode 5, 5&6 episode 6, 7: episode 10, 8: episode 11
You’re probably wondering about seeing Higgins and Roy. Well, in image 4 Higgins is telling Rebecca to fire Ted. Both images 5 and 6 relate to Ted not doing press, but really image 6 is Rebecca giving Roy the business.
One big note I have is the way the lamp in this season was moved/framed covering the painting. I’m not sure if this was on purpose or I’m just reading into it. Also the rings are turned toward each other in this season. Looking at past seasons they seem to be in line no angling.
Subcategory: Ring
Season 1 top to bottom: 1: episode 1, 2: episode 6, 3: episode 7
So, I only have a season 1 observation on this. I did not include the Beyoncé and Jay-Z scene from episode 7, but yes that is a thought here too from me. If you liked, it then you shoulda put a ring on it.
Sabre Crossover Earrings: The way these look to me matches the painting. Putting these two earrings together makes the infinity sign to me. Something about the sum of you're missing parts.
Left to right: 1: season 1 episode 7, 2: season 1 episode 8, 3: season 1 episode 9, 4: season 2 episode 1, 5: season 2 episode 7, 6: season 2 episode 11, season 3 episode 9
Of all the categories, this is the one I probably missed the most in someway. Shout to WeltonWears on the bird app for the info on the earrings.
8:
Season 1 left to right: 1: The seat that Ted takes in the opening credits is 8, 2: episode 1, 3&5: episode 4, 4&6 together: episode 5, 7&8: episode 6, 9: episode 7, 10&11: episode 9, 12&13: episode 10
Notes here: the use of 10:08 twice and Isaac skipping the number 8 in image 12. I’m probably reaching with image 7, the play on the whiteboard with 8. Episode 4 asking to be at table eight but ending up all at table nine.
Season 2 left to right: 1: episode 2, 2&4: episode 5, 3,5,6&7: episode 6, 8: episode 8, 9&10: episode 1, 11, 12, 13&14: episode 12
Notes here: Starting with episode 6, there are a lot of 8s happening. Ted’s panic attack starts at about the 80th-minute mark. I did not include that cap, but instead picked the one with him running into the tunnel/last frame of the panic attack. There is a cut to the Tottenham player 8 taking the corner kick right before the last bits of Ted running into the tunnel. This is why I included it.
The pinball machine scores having 8s. I did a bit of maths on the pinball score from episode 11. AMC: 9+5+3+5+6=28, SMF: 7+3+8+7+3=28, TED: 6+4+1+3+4=18, BRD: 5+3+8+0+3=19. This really seems like and probably is overthinking nonsense on my part here.
The newspaper caps have eight weeks for a player to recover and the article Beard is showing is on page 88.
Season 3 left to right: 1,2&3: episode 1, 4: episode 4, 5, 6&8: episode 5, 7&9: episode 7, 10&11: episode 9, 12: episode 10
Notes here the use of infinity twice, Nate video date May 8th, Total Football working with a goal by Montlaur #8, and I mean, 38 games is a set number (I probably didn’t need to include this cap). I’m also thinking about the fact that 822 reverse is 228....
Subcategory 28: Twenty-eight is the second perfect number. Or second chances.
From left to right: 1&2: the o.g. NBC commercials, 3: season1 episode 5, 4: episode 7, 5: season 2 episode 4, 6&7: season 2 episode 6, 8: season 3 episode 1
Notes: Maybe, just maybe, the season 2 episode 6 Tottenham player was a callback to the NBC commercials. The sexy Christmas not quite TxR connected or just not that strong. But I did include.
Overall, I probably missed things here or there. If I remember right Richard Cole has a text that comes in at 12:28. Also at this point any thing on a screen on this show could be edited which we’ve see mostly in season 3. So, times take with a pitch of salt.
There are other connection too, such as a lot of 8s with 11s. We know 11 plays a strong part on this show, too. I just did not/ever really focus on it. I was all about 8s and the infinity symbol which I blame on the show Dark. I finished up that show right before starting season 1 in August 2020. There might be some Baader–Meinhof phenomenon or frequency bias happening here.
