Dimiashe Week Day 6: Snowed In

My final instalment for this event is also another short one! Enjoy the post-canon snowy time snuggles <3

The snow storm that had been predicted to blow itself out by midnight continued into dawn. Instead of getting an early start for his journey back to Castle Fhirdiad, Dimitri stood in the doorway of Ashe’s inn, contemplating the waist-high pile of snow that covered the front walk and beyond. Though he was dressed for travel, a biting wind smacked into him and Dimitri found himself shivering. That did it. Dimitri shut the door and began to take off his outer layers.

Ashe’s inn was, in a word, cozy. The bottom floor held a welcoming fireplace with several chairs and couches set before it, tilted in a way that encouraged conversation. Tables had been shoved against the wall for the night but Dimitri knew they normally overflowed with good food and drink. A plush rug by the front door instantly warmed any guests seeking shelter from the elements.

Dimitri visited Ashe and this inn as often as he could, for as long as he could. Which never felt like enough. The place just felt like home in a way a drafty castle couldn’t— and Ashe’s love permeated every inch. As annoying as it was to have the weather stall his plans, Dimitri had a hard time pretending to be disappointed at getting to spend more time here. He hung his coat and furs by the door, swiped some snowflakes from his pants, and headed back upstairs.

It was early. Even Ashe’s head chef was still asleep. All the guest rooms were silent as Dimitri made his way across the creaky floorboards towards the farthest bedroom. He had every intention of waking Ashe to warn him about the storm outside, perhaps offer his help in shoring up the roof or clearing a path towards the main road.

But then Dimitri opened the door and saw Ashe, and all those thoughts ground to a halt.

Ashe was curled up on his side nearly exactly as Dimitri had left him. He had pulled the quilt tighter around himself, but his hair was still strewn across the pillow, his mouth was still slack with sleep, and his lax face still caused Dimitri’s heart to clench with affection. Sights like this made Dimitri want to throw away his crown and take up permanent residency in Ashe’s bed. He would give up the whole of Fódlan for Ashe, and he would do it gladly.

Undoing the laces, Dimitri popped his boots off and gingerly climbed back into bed. It was all too easy to slide into place against Ashe’s back. Dimitri wrapped an arm around his torso, burying his face in Ashe’s neck and breathing deep. Any lingering desire to leave the inn vanished as Ashe let out a soft hum. Dimitri slipped a hand under Ashe’s shirt and drew soothing circles on his abdomen.

Ashe relaxed against him even as his eyes opened a sliver. “‘Mitri?” He slurred.

“Mhm.”

“Thought you’d be gone…”

“Snowed in,” Dimitri stated simply, shutting his eyes and hoping that would be answer enough.

Ashe sighed, long and regretful. “I need to check on the roof. Over the kitchen especially. Might be a good idea to start the lounge fire…”

Dimitri tightened his hold. “Not yet.”

“If I don’t—”

“You have a solid home, beloved.” Dimitri kissed behind Ashe’s ear. “It will hold for an hour or so more.”

Ashe considered these words. Dimitri continued making circles until Ashe locked their ankles together and settled into him once more. “As you wish, your majesty.”

“Ashe—”

“One hour, Dimitri,” Ashe said lightly, a balm to Dimitri’s old pet peeve. He lay a hand over Dimitri’s and laced their fingers together.

Dimitri grinned against Ashe’s neck. “One hour. I will even stay the day to help with anything you require. If that pleases you.”

This time, Ashe’s sigh was one that caused him to melt further into the bed, submitting himself to Dimitri’s embrace. “It pleases me more than I can say.”

Soon enough, Ashe’s breathing evened out. Dimitri felt sleep tugging him back under as well. His last thoughts were how fortunate it was to rule a land so prone to snow storms.

Sure have!#I forgot how long it takes for Chimera Falin to come into play.#I still really love my 'better drawn' art of her - unfortunately it was several weeks too early for the anime only folks.#Slowly getting the hang of drawing Laios. I don't know why I struggle so much but I am getting...somewhere.#Meta time: God damn I love how the chimera shows off the expertise and gap between Kabru and Laios.#The truth is: they are both *right* and they are both *wrong*.#This creature is a combination of monster and human and they only have the skillset to deal with one of those.#Kabru goes for all the human vitals - but she isn't human.#Laios tries to approach her as a monster and is struck down by the humanity he sees in her.#She is something new that defies what they *both* understand about the world. And that makes her such a perfect antagonist.#The damsel was the dragon all along!#...She is really so cute though. Terrifying! But adorable. I am so excited to see the boom of fanart for her.

hey, so people need to be aware that youtube is now (randomly) holding basic features for ransom (such as being able to pin comments under your own videos) in exchange for Your State ID/Drivers License, or a 30 Second Video Of Your Face.

not to pull a "think of the children," but No Actually. I've been making videos as a hobby since 2015 (and I've had my channel since middle school), I was a minor when I started and I'm not sure I would have understood the kind of damage something a seemingly simple as a video of your face can do.

this is a Massive breach of privacy and over-reach on google's part No Matter What, but if they're going to randomly demand a state ID or license then they absolutely should not allow minors to be creators.

google having a stockpile of identifying information on teenagers is bad enough, but the Alternative of recording your face and handing it over to be filed away is Alarming considering it opens the gates for minors who Aren't old enough to have a license.

and yes, there is a third option, but it's intentionally obtuse. a long wait period (2 months), with no guarantee of access (unlike, say, the convenience of using your phone's cameras for either of the other two), with absolutely No elaboration on what the criteria is or how it's being measured.

it's the same psychological effect that mobile games rely on. offer a slow, unreliable solution with no payment to make the Paid instant gratification look more appealing (the "payment" in this case being You. you are the product being offered).

and it's Particularly a system that (I think intentionally) disadvantages people who don't treat their channels like a job. hobbyists or niche creators who don't create regularly enough or aren't popular enough to meet whatever Vague criteria needs to be met to pass.

markiplier would have no problem passing, your little brother might not be able to. and while Mark's name is already out there there's no reason why your little brother's should be too.

something like pinned comments may seem simple, you don't technically Need it. but it's a feature that's been available for years. most people don't look at descriptions anymore. so when there's relevant information that needs to be delivered then the pinned comment is usually the go to.

for my little channel that information is about the niche series I create for. guides on how to get into the series, sources on where to find the content At All (and reliably so). for other creators it can be used for things Much More Important.

Moreover, if we let them get away with cutting away "small" features and selling it back to you for the price of your privacy, then they Will creep further. they Will take more.

There’s that post that’s like ‘everyone should get into a tiny niche fandom at least once’ fully agree, that was really fun -- but I would like to add that everyone should get into a fandom where their opinions run counter to major fanon because it really teaches you about sticking to your guns and trusting your interpretation of the text without having to rely on peer validation

you know what boils my blood.

over the last 2 weeks, i've seen countless patients walk into my urgent care center, symptomatic for so many things, refusing to get tested for covid and flu, citing that they don't want to knowingly bring it to their holiday tables. i had a patient tell me, verbatim, "i don't want to test for covid, because i don't want to be the asshole who brings it on a plane."

i understand that - i understand that holidays are times where people look forward to meeting loved ones that they might only see once a year, or where they get a break from the hectic back and forth of their lives.

but here's the thing - whether they get tested or not, they will bring whatever they have to their holiday tables. it's pure recklessness to know that you're sick, and walk into someone else's house spreading the disease.

today, january 2, i saw 91 patients, many of them who have tested positive for covid and flu. many of these patients are the same ones who didn't want testing 3 days ago, until their events were over, and now, they will have to reach out to everyone they know to let them know that they were positive because they were showing symptoms well before their event.

the next week or two? we're going to see many, many more, all people with symptoms that started around christmas. these are the only two viruses we test for rapidly in our office, but they are potent and can be fatal in many people.

so here's why i wrote this post, and maybe it's a little late, but - if you care about your loved ones, please get tested if you know you're sick. it doesn't have to be at a clinic if you don't want it to, because the over-the-counter tests work just fine too (if you test within 5-7 days of symptom onset). just...please don't try to run from the knowledge that you might have covid, because immunocompromised people, elderly people, people with co-morbidities like asthma, pregnancy, diabetes, etc...many of them may not recover. and they may not be sitting at your holiday table in the future because of it.

#zee rambles #this isn't to guilt trip anyone #but im so so tired of people coming in and just refusing testing because they want to see grandma or whatever #and on top of that people are avoiding vaccinations and all that too??#we all lived through the pandemic - everyone saw how many people unfortunately passed away from it #now because of vaccinations and some amount of herd immunity we're finding milder cases in healthy people #but that doesn't mean its gone #that doesn't mean it doesn't have long-term repercussions even in healthy people and that doesn't mean people aren't still dying from it #honestly i just needed a lil rant #and if this helps at least one person??? im all for it #also i can't sleep so here we are spilling thoughts into the voidddd

I see so many people starting to use Threads as a way to escape Twitter and yes, it's owned by Facebook's CEO and giving Facebook the monopoly of social media is bad but I think we should also talk about the fact that, you know, Threads isn't avalibe in the EU for privacy reasons????? Book 2 au: sparring sessions and short hair katara

They like to have sparring sessions in order to keep their bending skills sharp. They allow themselves to go all out and not hold back at all cause they know if anyone got hurt, Katara could just heal them
