i feel like im def in a minority in this ship/fandom that I prefer the idea of phoenix and miles getting together much sooner in the narrative instead of pining for a decade after finding each other again

it’s so much more interesting to watch the two of them try to navigate a romantic relationship in between everything else that they go though

and like no, neither of them are Normal™ about their relationship

like to miles, phoenix is still ‘that man’ for quite some time, bc miles is still embarrassed that he has actual romantic feelings for him (and that they’re?? reciprocated???) and miles still doesn’t feel as if it’s real or that he deserves it and is terrified he’s going to fuck it up and lose phoenix somehow as if that man hasn’t chased him since fourth grade, desperate to be in his life in some capacity

and phoenix still has to learn to be selfish with his feelings and not just sacrifice everything for miles and pretend nothing ever bothers him, he still has to learn boundaries and that his communication style is very different from how miles communicates

but they understand each other better than anyone else and early on they’re both aware that this is the person they’re going to spend the rest of their life with (even if they don’t voice it out loud to each other for quite some time)

#i always think about this when i see posts abt them pining thru the entire 7yg #and like yea that is fun #but i just can never convince myself that they weren't aware of each others feelings before the 7yg #its just so much more fun to imagine the 'okay we love each other now what' discovery period of how to be in a relationship #in between miles disappearing and moving to europe and phoenix getting disbarred and adopting trucy #those obstacles are 100000x more interesting to me if they're already involved and figuring out how to work through these things #as a couple #also my perspective is warped as an aroace person w ho has never been in a relationship lmfaooooooo #so take this how you will

frankly, the people whose kneejerk reaction to bisan asking for a global strike form the 21st-28th is to say that it takes years to organize a general strike are really unhelpful! no one is saying otherwise, but palestine will be a smoking crater if we all wait for years to do anything - bisan is asking us to do something now. Like are we only supposed to do something if we can do it perfectly??? At some point it’s a valid critique about the work that goes into social movement, and at another point I feel like some people are just trying to absolve themselves from not putting any effort into observing a week of economic inaction.

like idk! I get it, okay! People have bills to pay that don’t magically go away for a strike, we don’t have nearly enough social infrastructure in place to support people to fully stop going to work for a week. But fuck, dude! Stop immediately responding in such a defeatist way! Cut out unnecessary purchases! Try to shop local! Put more effort into promoting Palestinian voices online! Attend a protest, call a local rep, do something!

I just wanna say bc I KNOW you're somewhere on tumblr, to the teenage girl who attended Take Your Kid To Work Day at an office building in Ontario, Canada circa 2013 and had a conversation with a middle aged woman in which you showed her your Black Veil Brides fanart and fanfics and ship content and told her about different fanfic tropes including a/b/o verse bc she happened to know who Panic! at The Disco and Fallout Boy were and thus you felt the need to show her your bandblr ship art, that was my fucking mother and I had to clarify all that to her including looking my mother in the eye and trying to explain a/b/o verse without sounding like a lunatic.

Gentle reminder that very little fandom labor is automated, because I think people forget that a lot.

That blog with a tagging system you love? A person curates those tags by hand.

That rec blog with a great organization scheme and pretty graphics? Someone designed and implemented that organization scheme and made those graphics.

That network that posts a cool variety of stuff? People track down all that variety and queue it by hand, and other people made all the individual pieces.

That post with umpteen links to helpful resources, and information about them? Someone gathered those links, researched the sources, wrote up the information about them.

That graphic about fandom statistics? Someone compiled those statistics, analyzed them, organized them, figured out a useful way to convey the information to others, and made the post.

That event that you think looks neat? Someone wrote the rules, created the blogs and Discords, designed the graphics, did their best to promo the event so it'd succeed.

None of this was done automatically. None of it just appears whole out of the internet ether.

I think everyone realizes that fic writing and fanart creation are work, and at least some folks have got it through their heads that gif creation and graphics and moodboards take effort, and meta is usually respected for the effort that goes into it, at least as far as I've seen, but I feel like a lot of people don't really get how much labor goes into curation, too.

If people are creating resources, curating content, organizing the creations of others, gathering information, and doing other fandom activities that aren't necessarily the direct action of creation, they're doing a lot of fandom labor, and it's often largely unrecognized.

Celebrate fan work!

To folks doing this kind of labor: I see you, and I thank you. You are the backbones of our fandoms and I love you.

Bisan is calling for another global strike!

I saw some posts just outlining Jan 21st, and wanted to clarify that Bisan has called for a full seven days of action.

What a global strike would look like is:

calling in sick to work

purchasing bare essentials ahead of the week so you can observe the general boycott of goods / buying as little as you genuinely can

putting in a concerted effort to elevate Palestinian voices and make it clear that this strike is in support of a permanent ceasefire!

For those who will have to purchase necessary goods during this time, please observe the brands that the BDS movement is asking us to boycott!
