Burrn! Japan vol. 23 Individual Interview Translation Notes
Tumblr media
Kyo's favourite movies are those that leave a really bad aftertaste, which he just can't watch more than once or twice. Besides Holy Mountain, some of his highlights have been Pearl, MEN and Midsommar. Ideally, he'd love to replicate this in a live show: as a fan, you would be so shocked and blinded by tears that you couldn't even see Kyo. He thinks that Dir en grey is more and more working toward this kind of mission. Kyo would also love to perform in Las Vegas' SPHERE venue, with this type of overwhelming shock.
If he had to make a movie, it would also be one that leaves a bad aftertaste and which nobody could sanely watch more than twice, but since he would have to do multiple reviews as the director, it won't happen.
Kyo finally explained the focus on Uroboros more: he feels that Dir en grey was able to build something more from this point onward. The worldview started with Withering to death. too, but the base was set more firmly with Uroboros.
For Kyo, the inclusion of Oboro is what totally changes a setlist. He feels that it's a bottomless pit, like he's cutting deeper and deeper into a wound. For Die, The World of Mercy is the song that can make a whole difference in a setlist, because of the change of tempo in the middle.
Die described that when they try to compose songs, sometimes, after 25 years, they can have the impression that the melody's already been done before. But then, let's say Kyo adds his singing on top of it, and it goes through the filters of the other members too, and in the end, Die feels like: "Wow, it's something totally different now!"
Die doesn't usually work on melodies in his free time. The ideas come to him the most when there is a concrete release decided and deadlines, even if he doesn't like deadlines.
Regarding the upcoming European tour, Die reflects that Withering to death. was the first time that they toured in Europe, and in general they have never done "concept tours" overseas. He feels that the band will be able to do things in 2024 that they weren't able to do back then.
Apparently Dir en grey is thinking of celebrating the 30th anniversary since their formation!! And they are wondering whether to release the next album before that or around the same time.
Kaoru mentioned that at first, only Acro no Oka and Zan were supposed to be recorded with Yoshiki in LA, but when they arrived, it was decided to add Yurameki. About Acro no Oka, Yoshiki commented that it was a concern because of the lack of "collision of sounds", whereas Zan was a problem of collision of sounds.
In Yurameki, apparently they recorded some strings separately and overlapped them in post-production because Yoshiki asked Kaoru to play something in a specific way that was impossible, because the string couldn't be held down simultaneously. They figured: "No one will notice."
This European tour was supposed to happen in 2022 to coincide with the band's 25th anniversary.
Shinya would have preferred to sleep until 4PM on the day of this interview. He also appreciated that the songs of Phalaris were introduced in three segments/tours, because he had trouble memorizing the structure of the songs. It would have been impossible for him to play all of the album's songs at once live.
His favourite kind of ending is when the show doesn't end with a bang, but that it instead leaves a lingering worldview, which was accomplished with Kamuy. His favourite part is when the curtain was lowered in front of the stage as soon as Kamuy started. Ideally, he would always just walk off the stage without throwing drumsticks or anything.
For the first time, the rehearsal for Tour23 Phalaris Final –the scent of a peaceful death- was not just [rhythm section] then [whole band]. At Die's suggestion, they had rhythm first, then the four musicians, and finally the whole band rehearsed together.
Shinya was ecstatic that his composition, Yurameki, was chosen for the major debut and that it was produced with Yoshiki. Ever since then, he felt like he could die happy, and all the way up until now, Shinya has continually felt like he could be content to die at any moment.
For ten years now, Shinya has wished to record simple drum melodies. Also, he thinks that he will struggle to re-learn how to play the Uroboros songs.
Toshiya reveals that the imagery projected on the curtain in the opening (during Otogi) and ending (during Kamuy) of the shows in Tour23 Phalaris Final –the scent of a peaceful death- were generated by AI.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems that a lot of people have commented that going to see Dir en grey is more like a spectacle than seeing a rock band's live performance.
Toshiya was initially opposed to the idea of re-recording the three singles of their major debut. He feels that old songs are out of their hands, and some things about them belong to the listeners and their past experiences of it. In other words, he is worried that re-recording could destroy something about the memories associated to the songs. In his view, it's better for the creators to re-imagine the songs, like they have done with their remakes so far. At the same time, in retrospection, Toshiya is glad that they decided to do it, because it made him realize that a lot has changed in 25 years, but a lot also hasn't changed, with the band.

OK so on Saturday I got to go to Milan to see the Cats Il Sistina tour and HOLY GOD IT WAS AWESOME. I'm glad I studied the character designs in advance because a lot of the costumes are really different. I'm not typically a huge fan of nonreplicas but Il Sistina may well change that!
I've compiled my thoughts on the show here! Nb, I do not speak Italian so I'm not sure how close to the original lyrics the translation is 😅
There were no green goggles, but the Cats did come in through the audience. I had an aisle seat and Cassandra walked right past me! She was right there and so beautiful omg.
I've gotta get in right at the start that Simone Ragozzino is my new all-time favourite Mungojerrie. The most ever! A little guy. He got most of the acrobatics that Tumblebrutus usually does - apparently Simone used to be an acrobat/gymnast so that makes sense. He and Rumpleteazer were sufficiently chaotic but also clearly valued and beloved members of the tribe. Idk man Simone just got it. Tumble-jerrie ftw.
The cathedral from "round the cathedral" was changed to a Colosseum reference which I loved 😍
I'm obsessed with Demeter’s makeup from this tour actually. I'm personally not the biggest fan of cryptid-style makeup and looks in Cats in general, but I feel like Deme was balancing just on the edge and it really worked and I loved it. Maybe it was Viviana Salvo's acting as well - she was fabulous at toeing that line between stunning and unnerving!
Tugger and Munkustrap were super close! Munk was less annoyed by Tugger’s antics than normal and they did this thing at one point where Tugger was holding onto Munk who leant fully backwards off the edge of the stage - it was like a trust exercise and I was a fan. Their rendition of Old Deuteronomy was lovely and their voices worked so good together! Tugger was definitely Munkustrap’s second in command of the tribe. I wish Tugger was a bit more Tugger in appearance, he seemed very yellow with not a lot of detail on his costume, but the personality was hundo p present and accounted for. He did the "bite is worse than your bark" line in Jellicle Songs and legit barked at the end.
Jennyanydots was fabulous! Instead of a big coat she literally wore a giant ball of wool, and one of the props was giant knitting needles and the start of what might have been a giant scarf - it took 6 of the Cats to carry it. It actually worked super well for Milan, which is known for fashion and fabrics - there's even a giant sewing needle sculpture outside Cadorna Station! It was probably a happy coincidence but I enjoyed it!
Victoria's role was changed quite a bit, her solo was totally different and the pas de deux was gone. There also kinda just... wasn't the big small first touch Vic and Grizabella moment, which I was sad about, but if Griz's big moment wasn't "TOUCH MEEEEEE" in the translation, I'm not so bothered by it. I wish Vic had a bit bigger of a role because I love her, but she was killing it whenever she was on stage.
We are all stan pink Jemima, she had such a lovely voice too. Her and Alonzo were playing with a tennis ball during the interval and it was adorable.
My beloved Coricopat and Tantomile were lying in the Mouth of Truth prop after Moments of Happiness; they had their usual role of translating Old Doots through Jemima so I thought their placement here was deliberate! They weren't always fully in sync which I kinda liked, it was like they were allowed to be their own characters rather than just "the twins". I definitely got the impression that Tantomile was the older sister which hella backs up my hcs about her!
Gus was absolutely WILD. He comes in after Jellylorum has done her whole first part of the song in this raggedy old tradiotional Sherlock Holmes-style beige plaid coat instead of being there but kinda out of it the whole time. At first he wasnt keen on replaying any of his roles, but then all the others were like please please please and he relented. I think they were calling him (or his role) Romero? Idk if that's an Italian reference I just don't get? They did Pekes and Pollicles (one of the above had been changed to chihuahuas!) and then the bold Rumpus/Romero appeared... in a red satin bath robe and holding a sabre??? I need to look up this reference! Dude didn't just intimidate the pollicles, he straight up cut a couple of them down with his sword! Grandpa woke up and chose violence 😂
There was no trash train in Skimbleshanks 😭😭 there were giant glowstick things that changed colours though. Skimble and Bustopher were played by the same actor which is a combo I haven't seen before. Skimble was definitely still everyone's favourite train dad, all the characters were totally hyped for his song. HE DID TAP LIKE IN 2019. It was really cool how they did it, all the music stopped and he started a call and response tap dance with some of the other characters. The background showed an animated video of going through a train tunnel, like from the perspective of a train driver! The tap was gradually speeding up and became the sound effects of a train setting off and moving through the tunnel. I'm not explaining this super well but it was SO cool.
The Macavity Fight was quite different. There wasn't him disguised as Old Deuteronomy and then unmasked. What happened was he showed up and caused some shenanigans and then disappeared. There were about 4 of him around, so it looked like he was teleporting around the stage and audience! Bombalurina and Demeter performed his song which was absolutely fantastic (seriously how do these actresses actually manage to dance like that and sing at the same time?? Goddesses), after that he showed up again and the full cast was involved in the fight. Munkustrap still got the good choreography, but the whole tribe was involved trying to protect Old Deuteronomy. Tugger was definitely a protector in this production, he was very involved. Jerrie got KO'd a good few times, and Macavity absolutely destroyed poor Jenny! It felt like all of them were trying to protect their family and I really liked that. Despite that, Macavity was still able to win and successfully kidnap Old Doots!
"Mungojerrie, RUMPLETEAZER, Griddlebone" they let my girl do crime again!
Mistoffelees and Quaxo were besties, and Misto was REALLY enjoying Tugger's song I'm just saying. Delighted to announce Il Sistina Misto was a fruity little guy. He didn't get the terrible bore line, sad face, that went to Quaxo, but tbh idk how they translated that so it could be totally different! At one point Alonzo was holding him back at the start of Tugger’s song! We then saw a sponge-like Misto who picked up behaviours from the others around him, like he wasn't too sure of himself. This is actually one of my favourite Misto hcs so i was so chuffed to see it so clearly. He then helped Alonzo rein George (at least I think it was George!) in from going mental fanboy at Tugger. He was originally curious about Griz but then adjusted to hissing upon seeing the others. This fully went forward into his song. They did some big choreo changes. It was significantly less dance-heavy than traditional Misto performances and had a stronger focus on him being magic. There was a levitating box that they spent a lot of time with - Magician's Assistant Cass got in, but then she didn't disappear? She just popped back out again after the box had been rotated a few times. Some of the Kittens were waving their hands under the box to prove there was nothing holding it up and looking amazed which was adorable though. There was also a bit where Misto put some cards into a hat, the hat got passed down a line of Cats and then at the end they just sort of flew out? Like idk maybe they changed the lyrics where they're describing different magic tricks and it all makes sense! I THOUGHT THE CONJURING TURNS WERE GONE, but they were just moved to the very end of the song and cut down quite a bit.
Ok BUT LISTEN, à la 2019, the poor boy tried and failed twice to bring back Old Deuteronomy and then just sort of flopped in the corner all defeated but then BOYFRIEND TUGGER HELD HIS HANDS AND GOT RIGHT UP CLOSE AND WAS LIKE I BELIEVE IN YOU BABE and omg for real those actors knew EXACTLY what they were doing Tuggoff nation RISE. I'm always a red-sheet-turned-cape stan but I can definitely get behind the sparkly tail coat and playing card bowtie. He also had this handkerchief that he threw up in the air and it became a magic wand. I have no idea how and it was very silly so obviously I loved it. Although I wasn't massively into the choreo changes (ballet dancer Misto 5eva), Pierpaolo Scida was a magnificent Misto and I adored him - he was so cute! The little background actions and looks he did were so in character with how he interpreted Misto! Also he was beautiful you can't change my mind.
Malika was such an intense Grizabella - 10/10. She was proud but so vulnerable. She walked right past me when she first came in and lads, she did the whole show in these massive stilettos - absolute queen. At one point it literally rained on her on stage! During her first Memory, Old Deut was really watching her, and at the end of it he approached her, but she ran off when she saw him. I thought it was a super cool character moment, like she knew she wanted to be accepted, but wasn't quite ready for it. Even after the big Memory and Old Deuteronomy declared her the Jellicle Choice, Victoria approached her, but she was still too scared to let her, and it was Jemima who finally was able to reach her and bring her in. At the end she just kinda disappeared off stage - there were no flying tyres or magic stairs in the circus tent!
During the bit after the bows some of the cats were out in the audience and Tugger scared the absolute crap out of this one woman by poking his head in between her and the person sitting next to her. Iconic. Also during the latter part of the interval the audience was allowed to come up to the edge of the stage where some of the actors were goofing about in character. This mf pretended to cough up a hairball and now I have it on video. I also got some close ups of Teazer and the beautiful Bomba!
The Italian Junkyard was fabulous! It was mostly roman landmarks like Piazza Navona and Bocca della Verità, but there was also Michelangelo's David (which I'm pretty sure is in Florence) above the orchestra! There was also a giant marble foot, an Italian-style water fountain, and a broken column. My favourite prop was the bench, it's elevated at the back left of the stage and the cast were using it like a slide to enter the stage! Also it seemed to be Misto’s preferred location to lounge.
In conclusion, I will never get over this.

Hi I played myhouse.wad here is my thoughts on a narrative thing people seem intent on brushing off in favour of tired tropes.
Spoilers for myhouse.wad do not read this if you havent played it go and play it blind thx
So Thomas and Steven are heavily heavily implied to be husbands. The use of Intensely, Notably impersonal language in the journals is a whole other point to analyse irt its authorship but I digress, my (first) point is: Thomas is also Probably trans.
So in the airport you go into the womens bathroom and theres a pill bottle on the way in that says "needs a refill..." and then you do a little loop around the mirror and theres blood in the mirror then blood all over the place and blooddemons spawn in all around you... then you leave and there's a full pill bottle that says something like "such a relief" and when you come out the bathroom signs have switched and the bathroom you came out of is now the mens room.
Now the Le Reddit/gamer dood prevailing interpretation is apparently that this is... a coincidence? That the meticulous insane modder(s) who created this entire mindbending feat of technology Simply Forgot and its a total coincidence. Fuck off.
Now the prevailing theory also seems to be that the airport bloodbath is actually Thomas's father, evidenced by the same empty pill bottle being in the hospital room with the dead man. Nah, that's because they're both Thomas's fuckin pills and that's Thomas.
Steven (the PoV character as it were) is in the same hospital because this is a representation of the critical inciting event of the entire meta narrative: both of them having died, together, at home (probably in a house fire).
Everything we see in the mod represents scenes and events in their lives, and this is the point where Steven departs from the mortal coil and goes to join his husband Thomas, who is flatlining but nonetheless sat bolt upright, locking eyes with Steven who, in the context of the wider story is putting his affairs in order through the medium of Doom. CRUCIALLY this one hospital scene, where the video game gameplay rules of Doom (you die, you reload a save) are defied and we pass into a (god damn it) liminal space between the abstraction of the game and Death, is the only point where they are reunited.
Which then suggests to me that all the "Liminal Space" stuff and Backrooms references aren't just Fun References, but the Thematic Core of the piece, the passing between worlds. Hell, even the narrative being split between docs and the mod. It being a mod for a game at all.
Anyway I'll save this going on 10000 words because I could probably write interpretation for hours but... Myhouse.wad good.
Edit the following morning: There are hints to an "Anna" which the average Gamer assumes is some sadface ex-wife, but the main points where this is referenced are the airport scene and "S+A" in the bonfire/beach endings. Steven and Thomas are described as having reconnected with high school crushes/'friends'. The main time in your life where you're likely to carve your crush in a tree is when you're a teenager.
Steven had a crush on "Anna", reconnected decades later once he'd transitioned, the scenes of the game represent primarily parts of their life together, and in the final moments of the game (bonfire/beach endings) he's reflecting on when they met as kids.
Airport scene, besides the symbolism of journeys and beginnings, could also reference a miscarriage Thomas had at some point, possibly pre-transition since its where "Anna" comes up? (Stillborn baby is referenced a couple of times in the journal + baby bottle item ingame)
Anyway, myhouse.wad good.

hi! I've been going through your blog and I love all your analyses, we may not agree on everything but it's definitely fun to read and eye-opening and I'm grateful to see someone looking into bsd with such depth and whipping out whole essays <3
On that note. There was a fan theory I read when dead apple came out (for the life of me I cannot remember the source, if anyone knows please tell me) that Atsushi's healing ability applies only to the injuries caused by other abilities, and he can't heal from non-ability things like guns etc. The op cited the scene in ch18 where Atsushi is caught in a shooting, and healed by Yosano in the next chapter.
This theory came about because 1) in dead apple, Shibusawa says that the tiger is "the antithesis to all abilities" and "the ability everyone desires." Then we never get the reason why Shibusawa was so obsessed with Atsushi. And 2) in ch7 after sskk's first encounter where Atsushi's leg is severed, Yosano takes a look and thinks "there's no scar, it's more of a restoration than a regeneration."
The gist of this is that I like the idea of Atsushi not being 100% invulnerable. And, if his is indeed the antithesis to all abilities then I'm excited to see what that entails; it implies that in the face of a time travel ability, he would be able to turn back time (if he knew how to use it ofc, cough Fukuchi fight cough). If the book is tied to an ability, Atsushi may be able to undo changes done by the book? he may also nullify Dazai's nullification? idk this opens many doors. Anyway! this is my fave bsd theory. I think, with how Akutagwa's ability sort of completes Atsushi's, and with the whole Rashomon being able to eat space, maybe with this development it will also "eat" a portion of the timeline, as in, undoing the events that occurred? is this making any sense? sorry for the rant I'd love to hear what u think, thanks <3
Hi!! Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot!!! Could this be the post you were looking for? Funny enough, it was at the very top of my reblogs queue. Indeed, it's an extremely insightful theory!!!
So, there's a lot to unpack here. Ever since I've read that theory, I've found Yosano's thoughts regarding Atsushi's healing from chapter 7 extremely interesting. It's curious, because the nuance gets completely lost in the official English translation:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Raws → fantranslation → official Yen Press English translation). As you can see, the meaning gets totally lost in the last one. It almost makes me wonder if it was an intentional change due to the fact that the plot point won't be brought up in the manga in ten years (much like opting out of adapting the Steinbeck Guild uprising in the anime, since that plot point has been apparently discarded), but I hope it's not the case.
All taken into account, I don't think it's a stretch to say Atsushi's ability, due to his quality of denying other abilities, can only quickly regenerate as far as other abilities wounds go. When I was reading the manga I thought it was only plot conveniency and suspension of disbelief, but taking a closer look perhaps the pattern of wounds not caused by abilities taking longer to heal isn't concidential: it already happened with the wounds he suffered from in the orphanage, which ended up leaving scars (chapter 28), with the Guild's attack, which was of unknown nature but required Yosano's help to heal (chapter 18-19), with Twain's sniper attacks, which as the theory's Op point don't seem to have healed immediately (chapter 29). But in my opinion it's still too little instances to be able to affirm with certainty that it's not just coincidences dictated by plot convenience.
I do have a feeling there must be Something to Atsushi's ability. it can't just be tiger transformation and wounds regeneration. He's the protagonist, and leaving it at that, that's about the lamest ability of them all (sorry!! I love him still!!). I like the idea of Atsushi's ability being truly special, carrying qualities that have yet to be unfolded that make it different and somehow above the other abilities. I really think it'd be the most satisfying progression narrative wise, because so far Atsushi has gotten really little to claim for his protagonist role, being constantly overshadowed by Dazai; but he's the main character still, and it's like the story itself is waiting to reveal what makes him special. And there being something special to his ability has been, though subtly, consistently underlined: the extraordinary bounty on his head that nothing about what we know seems to explain, the fact that the Guild wanted to capture him specifically, the no further elaborated on fact that he's the key to finding the Book, Shibusawa's concern with him and, most importantly, the ability's quality of tearing through other abilities. Like, that feels very relevant; it's different from Dazai's nullification ability in the way it doesn't just temporarily nullify the other ability, but straight up denies it. I feel like in a manga that is so littered with meta commentery on literature, it'd be fitting to have an ability that denies other abilities' very existence, like moving a rubber through the page. It's certainly interesting to think about. And I like the concept of Atsushi's ability as an alternative to Dazai's nullification ability. Dazai has been feeling invulnerable so long, it would be gratifying to contemplate the existence of something that's outside of his sphere of influence, and potentially even more powerful and destructive than he is.
Again, there's already so many elements that make it impossible to ignore the uniqueness of Atsushi's ability; but even then, they're still so sparse and obscure it's really hard to take a guess on what it could really be about, or what is the reason why it's special. There's so much space for soeculations - a connection with the book, a singularity, a God-like ability just to name a few -, but in my opinion none of them have any concrete enough canon basis to leave space for theories. I think I'd rather limit myself to say it would make a lot of sense for it to be an ability superior to other abilities, since it's something that has the power to tear through abilities themselves, and I believe that such quality is also coherent with its link to the Book as another ability-originated, extremely powerful object. The ability's power to rewrite reality, if only to a smaller extent compared to the Book, may further hint to its connection to the Book / being originated from the Book / sharing origins with the Book. When the ability immediately helps Atsushi regenerate from ability induced wounds he is lowkey rewriting the story to portray a reality where Atsushi wasn't hurt, and when he tears abilities apart it is lowkey rewriting a story where the ability didn't exist. In that, I believe it wouldn't be too far-fetched to draw similarities with the way the Book works. This also made me realize that where it's confirmed that the Book's altered reality to the point of changing the ada's memories so they remembered committing the terrorism crimes, I'm pretty sure that we never got the confirmation the same happened to Atsushi. Then, what if the book can't have effect on Atsushi due to his ability, but only on the reality surrounding him.
So yeah. I'm curious to see how this will unwrap, although I have my doubts I'll still be around when it does (man, the manga is going to take another six months just to catch up with the last anime episode, so you know). I really really like the concept of Atsushi's ability developing in a way that will make it more functional in a rematch against Fukuchi. I've been advocating for a sskk vs. Fukuchi rematch for years at this point, and it seems like we will indeed be getting it; and sskk BETTER win it this time, it wouldn't make any narrative sense to be otherwise. But to do that they'll have to overcome their biggest disadvantage that is Shintou Amenogozen's time manipulation, so you know!! Looking forward to see a sskk that is now mature and experienced unveil new skills to their abilities.

diamond girl | jamie drysdale x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: jamie surprises reader with learning one of her favourite songs on the guitar<3
word count: 0.9k
Yours and jamies schedules finally lined up and you two were able to spend an evening together. So it was no surprise you found yourself sitting on his roof watching the sunset. Your head was resting against his shoulder, and you had never felt happier than in that moment.
“I’ve got a surprise for you,” jamie mumbled as he pulled away from you. “Just give me one second and i'll be right back” he got up and climbed back inside his house.
A few minutes later he climbed back out onto the roof with his guitar in hand. You couldn’t help the grin that made its way onto your face as you saw him sit with his guitar on his lap. You knew he had been practicing by the texts trevor would send you telling you to make him shut up. Trevor hadnt minded his playing, but the singing… apparently it was awful.  “What are you doing?” you giggled as jamie started to strum on his guitar. He reached over and grabbed your hand, placing a soft kiss on your wrist. He smiled back at you as he let go of your hand. “You’ll see” he replied, and the soft look on his face made you want to reach over and kiss him for real.
He began playing the intro to diamond girl by seals and crofts, and you swore you could die happy right that instant. The sun reflecting off his face, plus the fact that he was playing your guys song… you couldn't believe you could be this in love with a person.
Diamond girl
You sure do shine
Glad I found you
Glad you're mine
You and jamie had met by pure coincidence. you were taking a different route to work than usual because you decided to try out some new coffee shop one of your coworkers suggested… not that it really mattered because everything was new to you. You had just moved to anaheim for your job, and you were completely lost. Lucky for you though, you weren't at all nervous to approach a random man on the street to ask for directions.
“Excuse me!” you said cheerfully as you walked up to a cute dark headed boy. “Do you by any chance know how I can get to Sinclair street from here? I’m totally lost and my GPS won’t sync to my location”
“Yeah of course” jamie replied, looking down at the google maps you had opened on your phone. He told you which streets you should take, and even helped you fix your GPS.
Before you set off for work though, you made sure to get his number.
Oh, my love, you’re like a precious stone
Part of earth where heaven has rained on
Makes no difference where you are
Day or nighttime, you’re a shinin’ star
Since that day, you and jamie had spent plenty of days and nights together. You would go watch his home games, and he’d go to every movie you’d want to see in theatres. Your friendship had quickly turned to something a little bit more, and before you knew it you were whispering your i love yous.
How could i shine without you
When its about you that i am?
Diamond girl
Roamin’ wild
Such a rare thing
Radiant child
jamie would always go on about how he loved your care free nature. You were always ready to try new things and to cheer him on whenever his team lost. He needed you and you needed him.
I could never find another one like you
Part of me is deep down inside you
And can’t you feel the whole world is turnin’?
We are real, and we are burnin’, hey
I love you jamie whispered one evening as you two laid in his bed. You turned up to look at him, the sun shining in his face caused butterflies to float in your stomach.
"I love you too jamie". You both couldn’t contain your smiles as you stared into each other eyes, quickly leaning into each other so you could trail soft kisses all over jamie's face.
Diamond girl, now that i’ve found you
Well, its about you that i am
Diamond girl
You sure do shine
Diamond girl
You sure do shine
"jamie..." you felt like crying. you couldn't believe he would learn how to play an sing on of your favourite songs. jamie wore a proud smile on his face, and his eyes where shinning with love and adoration.
"i've been practicing for awhile and i just-" he started but you were quick to cut him off with a passionate kiss.
"i love you so so much jamie" you said while holding his face in-between your hands.

Hudson and Rex S06E15
So, as I’m sure a lot of people have already figured out, we just watched the intended season finale. CityTV, you better hope I never get to cross that ocean. I mean, every season finale aside from the two where Peter Mitchell was in charge (coincidence?) were run of the mill episodes which could have fit anywhere in the season. Maybe it will be fitting for this season to start and end with viewers wondering what they watched. But I’m getting ahead of myself here and I might be wrong. Let’s focus on 15 which may very well be the best episode of the season for me, probably tied with S06E04.
The spoiled scene with Charlie and Sarah’s mentioned anniversary. Rex totally wants to stay with Jesse after their “celebration”. I’m trying to figure whether Jesse is pretending to be naive or is actually being naive about it. Or if the whole response is the writers being unable to outright say that Charlie and Sarah really spent their anniversary having sex all night.
Speaking of, two years, Charlie Hudson? What are you waiting for, an epiphany to hit you in the head? Oh, wait.
What do you mean, we didn’t save the day? There’s a dead woman? Huh?
Nice bomb explosion by the way.
“My bosses are gonna hate this but tell me more”. lol Jesse
How did we end up as security detail for the woman who might become prime minister?
Look, I like when there’s a case where they’re toying with supernatural elements. That’s why I loved Castle so much. And Jesse is always eager to believe. Charlie on the other hand looks like he’s got tons to say on the subject. Rex too. Apparently he doesn’t believe in time travel either.
Any so called time traveler should come back to the present with the numbers for the lottery. That would be ample proof for me :P
Can I say how much I like the camera work on this one? Good directing by John Vatcher.
Rex is getting so many pats in this episode. Deserved.
This campaign manager is on par with the Veep campaign managers. And by that I mean he’s ruthless and self-centered and I want to punch him.
That food now possibly has dog hair in it.
I come from a country where it’s pretty normal to put a musical montage right in the middle of an episode (even a dance number), so I’m not going to say anything about the needless song.
Thunk! There goes Charlie. Again. I’ll spare y’all the concussion speech. Besides, time moves in mysterious ways in this show, maybe it’s already been six months since episode 11.
Seriously, why do you tell Rex to chase a lead if you can’t survive being ten feet away from him?
I can’t remember the last time any of my shows put a bomb vest on one of the main characters. The latest that I remember was FBI but it was on a minor character. That had been a great episode too.
I haven’t yet decided whether that bomb vest looks too amateurish. To be fair, given who the culprit was, it shouldn’t look professional.
Sarah finding Charlie as he has a bomb vest on is like, the best thing that has happened lately on this show. Her look. His look as he realizes that he’s got his entire family now in this (and the mantra of no, no, no that must be playing in his head, I’m filling the blanks, don’t mind me). The slight zooming in of the camera in both of their shots, denoting the direness of the situation.
I was almost waiting for Charlie to say “this isn’t as enjoyable as it was last night” as Sarah was touching him while she’s checking the bomb vest. It writes itself, come on.
In my last review post I wrote that I was hoping the earphones would serve for Charlie to call Sarah and tell her goodbye or something like that. This certainly exceeded my expectations.
We’re a bit late for love confessions under duress but when Charlie was asked about whether Sarah was his wife and he replied “Not yet”, that was a nice moment. At least we know where his head is at.
Their silent communication. They’re so in sync.
Elsewhere, Joe and Jesse are quietly trying to figure out a way to save innocent people and somehow not get their friend blown up.
Superintendent Joe Donovan making airplane noises. I laughed so much.
They are holding hands as they’re walking to their doom! Oh, by the way, interesting music choice. I wonder if it’s score created for the show or non-original music. I’ve certainly not heard it before on the show.
Goodbye kiss! I love it here. And look at the shot of Charlie and Rex leaving as Sarah is staying behind.
Tumblr media
Me: no way it’s the convict. Five minutes later: it’s the fucking convict!!! Ten minutes later: it’s not the convict???
Ha, Charlie using the mute button which is pretty convenient but almost no one uses on calls.
Okay, they fooled me with the bomber. But the takedown went pretty much as I expected. Nice communication with Rex through hand signals, again. Although the detonator flying off the lady’s hand… anything could have happened.
Rex’s influence to the system will be more K9s lol. They may also have ensured unlimited funding for the SJPD.
Can the time traveling guy tell us if Charlie is going to propose anytime soon? Or is the “not yet” considered a non-proposal proposal?
This is the first time I’m hearing about the so called Alice in wonderland syndrome.
“Everybody needs a Rex”. Ah, yes. Our catchphrase.
Charlie, put the phone down. When is that man clocking out? Who’s going to make sure Rex is getting adequate rest? I need to talk to his superior. Joe!
Well, I kept saying that I wanted Charlie and Sarah to be in danger again together since they hadn’t after they had become a couple, and I got my wish, thank you, show. We could have had an aftermath scene with them but I’m not going to complain about it in an otherwise good episode.
Promo: I’m beyond frustrated that they keep shuffling the episodes and they wouldn’t even give it a rest when they got the season finale or the 100th episode on their hands. Today’s (yesterday’s) episode would have been a better 100th episode than The Rookie’s for sure (which is embarrassing for The Rookie). But instead we get to watch it as episode 99 and have a run of the mill case for the 100th, which, unless it ends up in a huge celebration scene, is going to fall flat. We basically end off exactly as we started, expect I now know this is 100% CityTV’s fault.
Speaking of, is CityTV even going to acknowledge that it’s the 100th episode? Is anyone? I’m obviously not expecting the magnitude of promotion ABC gave The Rookie or 911 this season (and that was a lot) but something that shows they’re not completely neglecting Hudson and Rex. It doesn’t seem like we’re getting renewal news anytime soon, so I’d settle for them celebrating the episodes they already filmed. There are quite a few production companies involved too, this does not only fall on CityTV. If Shaftesbury wants to celebrate this milestone, I won’t say no.

Hey, it's me again (the only other person who fully agrees with you apparently, though I did see someone else kinda- sort of agree with you too a few posts back and it gives me hope for humanity) .
I don't understand this obstination with wanting to keep the head in the sand honestly.
These people really heard Rhett talking about ''missing puzzle pieces'' in rectums during the brolonoscopy video and went ''yeah, missing puzzles pieces in rectums, that's a tooootally normal thing to say, puzzle pieces is first thing that would come to anyone's mind if they wanted to make a joke like that''
...Seriously?
You think it's a ''coincidence''? well, it sure is a very peculiar one you at least gotta admit that.
It isn't though. The reason Rhett even feels comfortable slipping in these hints is because he now understood how clueless everyone is, and he is right, nobody got it.
You talked about the puzzle piece thing in realation to a specific act a long long time ago, before this happened, and that's was a very similar conclusion I had reached about it . Are we psychics? No.
We had indipendently reached a very very similar interpretation of this whole long overarching story present in their scripted videos before we even started speaking in DMs back then, and it's not by random chance, it's just a proof something is indeed there.
R&L are one of the greatest love stories of our generation and they are telling their story in a very clever self ironic and uinique way and people have no freaking idea, it's so frustrating. They must feel very frustrated as creative people, but it's not their fault. It's the audience.
It's not just fangirls fangirling over the though of two hot guys being romantically involved. There is something there. Ignoring the signs is not being respectfult to them, because you are glossing over how smart they truly can be as creators.
Hello again! I have been feisty too in the past but I am kinda in a mood that I don’t want to directly judge people with different opinions or perspectives (then again even though I thanked disagreeing anon for being polite, I chose to overlook that they called opinions such as mine delusional lol 👀). Not sure if it’s because I became wiser or simply I feel dead inside… In any case, you know I agree with you and I totally get your frustration and bafflement. I am only landing on the conclusion that people have the tendency to preserve equilibrium in their life and avoid what would disrupt that. There is a sense of safety and trust in the thought that Rhett and Link will forever be great platonic friends with happy families. I get that. I don’t agree with blinding yourself in order to keep the equilibrium but I understand why fans choose this.
But there’s more than us and the semi-agreeing anon here. Given the interaction in my posts, I would say there are like 5-7 of us overall (which is still too few 🥲) but I am by light years the most vocal / certain and now you too.
Btw heyyy you didn’t answer me last time what your previous username was! Given the clues you have given me I can think of two people.

Sorry in advance for the message length. I just had a very odd fandom experience. I've been in fandom in one way or another for almost 20 years, but I've always been pretty low-key and never particularly popular or well-known (which is cool, really, since I just want to have my little corner to do my own thing). I was browsing fic in a fandom that I recently (~6 months ago technically, ~3 months more realistically) started writing for and wouldn't consider myself particularly established in. Haven't garnered much notice, but a few nice interactions, and I'm happy with that. I write about pretty niche stuff that's not everyone's cup of tea--I was honestly surprised that people read it at all. So I was reading this fic and noticed from the opening line that it was incredibly similar to something I'd posted last month. At first I thought it was a really fascinating coincidence that someone else was interested in the same things I was and apparently thinking similarly about it. But by the end of the chapter, it was absolutely eerily similar (enough differences that it's a different fic with different goals, but similar enough that there was a little vertigo reading it and I was sort of creeped out).
So lo and behold, the end note has an edit mentioning that they drew inspiration from my fic! So, like, huh, okay, weird but cool? Thanks for the shout-out, I guess? I glanced in the comment section and apparently a commenter had politely noted the overwhelming similarities and asked them to mention it, and the author responded that, yep, they'd absolutely drawn heavily from my fic without realizing and thanked them for pointing it out so they could give credit. Then the next comment said something about how they worry whenever someone says they're inspired by [my username], and that that's a compliment. Which is hilarious to me because, as I said, I don't really have a presence in this fandom and I'm not well-known anywhere. Like, I just got here, and already I've accidentally walked in on this little corner chatting about me. I'm not annoyed or anything--I mean, I basically walked in on strangers saying nice things about me? It's just super weird and kind of funny to my little fandom hermit self.
And it's extra hilarious because I don't get a lot of comments, so that there was a whole thing where someone recognized my work and people were chatting about me in someone else's comment section is just. Bizarre. Especially so because this particular author has written a LOT of reminders to interact and support via kudos and comments, but they have not interacted with me in any way and mentioned that they're bad at commenting themselves. I totally wouldn't have known about this entire little thing if I hadn't stumbled across their fic one day. So, that's a new one for me. Anyway, thanks for letting your blog be a space for people to share stuff like this.

Okay I did it, lol. I spent way too much time on this, don't let it flop. Here's the evidence I could find both for against the Will's Birthday theory. Apologies for the length.
Simplest Explanation first.
THE DUFFERS AND EVERY SINGLE WRITER, CREW, AND CAST MEMBER FORGOT WILL'S BIRTHDAY:
The evidence for this point of view is pretty straightforward. First, the Duffers themselves, in two separate interviews, one in a article and another that was a sit-down video interview, said they simply forgot. They apologized profusely to fans, and to the character of Will Byers himself. In the second interview, they mentioned that they had received a master document of all important dates from a super-fan, so this wouldn't happen again. They confirmed they were likely going to go back and change the birthday to May 22nd, though...they haven't done so as of yet.
Secondly, it's pretty farfetched that every in-universe character completely and totally forgot Will's birthday. Even if they did have other shit they were dealing with. But really. You think Joyce is forgetting Will's birthday? Or Jonathan? Mike, maybe, for reasons I'll get into later. But still probably not. There's just not an explanation that makes sense to me, which is why I still kind of believe it was the Duffers mistake. However...
THE DUFFERS ARE LYING AND HAVE DROPPED EASTER EGGS THROUGHOUT THE SHOW AND OTHER PLACES TO HINT AT THIS:
Okay, so there's more in terms of sheer number of evidence for this, but it's not all compelling. There's not a definitive smoking gun. Just a bunch of small things, that might add up into something bigger.
So first under this is...what are the chances this was an accident? Like that's extremely bad luck for this day to be chosen by happenstance. 1 out of 365 days? That's 0.27%. Not even a full percentage point.
Next is...there's not a lot of dates to keep track of in Stranger Things. You're telling me that a whole room of writers, both of the Duffers, Shawn Levy, and the entire cast didn't remember this particular one? Possible I guess, but man. For a show that stresses the details like this one, it would be very disappointing.
So, I mentioned the interviews up top. This was from the first interview they did, when they were initially asked about it back on June 2nd:
Tumblr media
RD and MD stand for Ross Duffer and Matt Duffer, and EXCUSE ME? "How do you want to respond to this?" I found this really curious, because if you forgot the birthday as the creators, isn't there only really one way to respond to this? That's a little suspicious. Was he asking Matt if they should reveal it is a plot point or not?
Next, we have two instances where forgetting Will's birthday has apparently already been a problem in the past, so would they really forget it again?
First we have this tweet from 2020, where someone on Twitter called out the Stranger Things Writers account for not acknowledging Will's birthday which had just passed in the real world:
Tumblr media
You can see this is dated March 24, two days after Will's birthday. The D&D line was obviously related to Season 3 where Will wanted to play and no one else did. But the fact that they acknowledged a birthday being forgotten, and it just happened to be Will's, well...
Next instance is from the in-show universe. Creds to @beaulesbian for this post. Below we can see what looks to be some sort of card hung up in Will's room saying "forgot your birthday". It is present in S1 (first pic) and S2 (second pic):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The card appears to be cartoonish/juvenile, maybe coming from another member of the Party. As you can see, this is adding up to a lot of coincidences around Will's birthday being forgotten, both in and outside of the show. But wait, there's more!
We have two examples of dialogue from Season 4 having to do with forgotten birthdays in general. First is Murray, trying to get Joyce out of the motel so they're not late to meet the Russian smuggler:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we have Mike's convo with Suzie, trying to convince her they're trying to win a video game system for Dustin's birthday:
Tumblr media
The interesting thing here is that you can see the puzzled look on Mike's face as he trails off, clearly not knowing what Dustin's birthday is off the top of his head. This correlates with the "I forgot your birthday" card referenced above. Maybe Mike is really bad with birthdays?
So that's it. If you believe the second set of evidence, you just have to convince yourself that Joyce was so shook about Hopper being alive, Jonathan was perma-stoned/so worried about his relationship with Nancy/college decisions, and Mike was so busy pretending to be straight being caught up with El, that they all forgot about Will's birthday.
If you made it this far, thanks, and let me know what side you're coming down on.

stary ideas ….. i feel like gary brings out the best in stan and makes him want to be a better person, while stan brings out the “worst” in gary by irritating him or something, haha.
just imagine stan being his usual self, and gary suddenly bursting out something like “god, will you just can it already!?” and then going on a large rant about how he doesn’t know how someone can be so self-absorbed, etc… and stan being… possibly completely enamored with this. idk, just think about it. thoughts ? would be fun to write about or just daydream of lol.
i would love to hear about what you think of their dynamic, though ! i really enjoy longer discussions on characters and their relationships with others, just because of how subjective and interpretive it is, therefore being more interesting.
i absolutely LOVE character/relationship analysis, honestly. like, urgh, yes this is south park but god sometimes the base personalities of these characters could be so interpretive like you said.
i also love this idea tbh, it totally coincides with how i picture their dynamic to be. stan definitely is inspired by gary to be a better person with how charitable of a person he is and how much hope he has in stan that stan cant say he has for himself. i feel like stan lacks plenty ambition and is relatively go-with-the-flow later on to a detriment, and gary can act as some sort of stable anchor in his life. it's no question that stan would put gary on some sort of pedestal, but not out of acute resentment or hardcore adoration— but because of the their differences between them. in due time, i'm sure stan will realize his worth with the help of gary. but of course he will never stop being in awe of him and his actions. there will almost always be some sort of dissonance between the two, but because of how much they connect, they will work through it.
now for gary showing his "worst" around stan. i think i understand what you mean. gary, to me, is someone who was raised to stay composed and calm. those traits are very inherent to his nature, but his patience rarely ever runs thin— which may sound nice, but it's not. being taught that rash & negative emotions were bad, and to keep those emotions at bay, definitely damaged his psyche. he probably doesn't allow himself to get mad, and when he does— it's a whole thing for him.
imagine they get into an argument about stan's character, like you said, and gary bursts out at stan in similar vein to the piece of dialogue you wrote. stan is definitely caught off guard by gary's anger because it's just so rare of him to lash out like that. he's definitely mesmerized. it honestly parallels to the end of s7012, where gary tells stan how it is while he just stands there like :o
stan at that moment, would know he fucked up badly. and as much as hes shit at diffusing a situation, the need to make things right is more apparent than ever. obviously, stan can't change overnight and with the flip of a dime, but its situations like this where that aforementioned inspiration to be better comes from. while this may sound twisted, gary ends up appreciating what stan does for him— including getting him that angry.
that may sound... weird... but gary definitely has problems about showing how he truly feels, and while stan may bring out the "worst" in him, he knows that these intense emotions are from a place of deeply caring about stan and wanting to see him get better. of course, the two end up apologizing but i can imagine after their conversation gary goes, "thank you for being one of the only real things in my life." or something like that. idk.

So the writer of the series, Ron Corcillo, confirmed in his Q & A that the mystical weapons the turtles stole from Draxum are nothing more than mere conduits and that their powers are inherent to the turtles, which explains why even though they changed weapons at the end of the series they still retain the same abilities, and that the only reason Splinter is able to use Leo's Odachi is that he is basically able to replicate the abilities of his children. crowning him as the most OP character in the show if it wasn't for the fact that he's already in his golden years.
I say this because of that dialogue where Galois tells Cass that the turtles' weapons are stolen from Draxum.
which begs the question: do Galois and Cass believe that the abilities of the weapons are from the weapons themselves or do they have to do with the turtles? I don't ask about Draxum because I figure he should know that by now.
I imagine a scene where Cass snatches the weapon from one of the turtles to use it against her only to fail miserably.
Also, it's confirmed that Splinter named the turtles! this is something a certain part of the fandom wasn't sure about, apparently Lou jitsu traveled across the world, and developed a special fondness for Italian art and music. Now we know why he's so good at singing Opera.
Now I can't help but imagine Lou begging one of his producers to let him play a whole scene of him singing Opera while he's putting someone in a headlock.
Oh please, like Splinter lets his age slow him down. His back might not be happy with him afterwards, but he can do every crazy thing he used to do if he is so inclined. I mean, just look at Shadow of Evil. His sons are all entering their prime, are used to defending against his particular brand of fighting, and it's four against one. And he just demolishes them. He's definitely the most OP in the show, he just can't do it for very long.
They know the nature of the weapons, there would be no reason for Draxum to lie about that. He hasn't told them that they were intended for the turtles in the first place-because, for one, we don't even know if that's true. The only 'proof' we have is that there were four of them, the fact that they're in the right colors and fit the boys' fighting styles would be a total coincidence because Draxum would have had no way to predict those things. (they also wouldn't have fit their intended roles, the torture-stick-thing Donnie turns down wouldn't have been very useful for the stealthy assassin Draxum wanted to make him into, he would have made better use of smaller weapons and blades) And I think one of the creators said that they were actually owned by the city, and 'entrusted' to Draxum to keep them safe? Also, good job there, nerd.
Cass at this point has shown no magical ability, and knows enough that even if she had some power, magic is finicky and she might very well be unable to tap into a source she's unfamiliar with. So even if she did, say, pick up Leo's sword thinking that the sword itself was what created the portals, it wouldn't necessarily raise alarm bells if she couldn't activate it. Magic is weird. And she is by no means an expert.
(also is Splinter the only person to use any of their weapons? I swear the boys could use each other's on occasion. Not to the same extent but I feel like one of the boys definitely made a portal and I just can't remember when)

Sorry for being dense but can you elaborate on your post about Norah?
tldr the call is coming from inside the house and the house is the UC Fayetteville sorority house and the den mother is miss val :)
we know from several former gymnasts' accounts that miss val had a pattern* of treating some gymnasts (most, even!) on the team very VERY well, and a select few (or notably and most sadly, sometimes just one) like total garbage. the trouble maker, the scapegoat, the designated whipping post.
we also know from obvious developments and patterns therein that ucla gym in the last 4 years has metastasized onto arkansas. and that miss val was influential in getting jordyn the HC position in the first place when you look at her and her husband's connections to the arkansas athletics dept.
waller was miss val's AC for like ~15 years. hiring him as a HC and her successor was a formality more than anything. nothing significantly changed when he replaced her, other than the absence of her mystique and cult of personality. which, granted, i can imagine sucked all the air out of the room. she is, after all, miss val.
we know that the environment was pretty toxic in norahs senior year. there is nuance to the exact details of a lot of what happened but it was indisputably a tense training environment. we can assume, based on how literally anything like this works, that the groundwork for that tension and toxicity was laid gradually before that year had even started.
so anyway, shifting focus back to ark. jordyns experience prior to landing a head coaching position at the age of 24 was ENTIRELY under miss val's tutelage. not just that but at the same program, within the same university's athletics admin, for only a few years. and on top of THAT, she hired her besties from ucla, including her then-bf now-fiancé (lol), onto her coaching staff. this is already not a great situation obviously.
at the beginning of this year, norah comes to ark as a 5th year transfer. supposedly to be closer to her bf in atlanta (.....😐) but also because she has an established relationship with the whole coaching staff. bc theyre basically all ucla transplants who have known her for years (jordyn and kyla for literally a whole decade going back to norahs junior elite days, long long history there). shes also a huge fan favorite and an amazing gymnast who deservedly gets very high scores.
i hope you can see where im going with this but bottom line is: looking at some of the eyebrow-raising stuff we've seen gymnasts and their families/friends say or hint at, putting all those things on a timeline, comparing that to gymnasts' arrivals, departures, injuries, underperformance compared to potential and expectations, etc. it seems a lot to me like things were not going great before this year, but it has really come to a head this season. and taking all of the above into account, i think norah's transfer was a catalyst for all that to really get going
jordyns mentor as a coach, basically the only coach she has ever studied under AND all within the only program she had ever worked for, is someone we know to be extraordinarily toxic and manipulative. and she remains a constant (predominant) presence in jordyn's career and the arkansas program as a whole. like deadass she moved to fayetteville and lives there at least part time jfkdjkfdjfk.
so no its not an unfortunate apparent coincidence imho and i dont think its all that crazy of me to suggest that theres a common thread here and not just "aw darn she transferred from one toxic team to another one that turned out to ALSO be toxic. :(" and for the record i certainly dont think that norah is one of the people suffering from the status quo within that program rn lmao.
there's also a lot about norahs last season at ucla and the team dynamics that i wont get into, primarily bc much of it is unconfirmed and based on rumors, ones that i realistically have no way of verifying, but also bc i feel like the above paints a decent picture of what is going on in a general sense without it... :)
*it also seems that this only happened in a few key years when the team was, for whatever reason(s), extremely polarized. other years the team was much more balanced. im not a fly on the wall so i wont speculate as to why that necessarily was but if you go back thru her seasons as a coach the Vibes are apparent

whaaaat? Clyde stans say that they """like""" his """moral grayness""" before turning around and saying that literally everything he did was Good Actually? and edelstans do the exact same thing with Edelfart for the exact same reasons and over the exact same ideals and decisions Clyde makes in Hopes (since Clyde is Ladlegard 2.0)?
what a coincidence, certainly not indicative of who the majority of Clyde stans (or even fans) are, nope. definitely DOESN'T explain why so many Clyde fans are rude, pretentious, and prone to projection ("we're the REAL Claude fans!! everyone who doesn't like Clyde never REALLY liked Claude!!" sure bud tell yourself that) i promise.
Basically, yeah. They think it's "the real him", citing that one interview (that didn't actually say Claude was planned to be super shady, just that he wasn't quite as "good" as he turned out to be (but the final version is obviously something they were comfortable and satisifed with or they wouldn't have bothered).
Apparently they think it's "good" because he's "only invading Faerghus and killing their people to get to and kill Rhea, who is Very BaD". From almost every person in support of GW Claude, it's an extremely tunnel visioned mindset of the ends justifying the means only as long as Rhea is killed... and as someone who has been actively part of Joe Z's community for about three years now, I can absolutely without question and with full confidence tell you that most of the Claude community absolutely despises Rhea and takes full enjoyment of the idea of Claude murdering her.
Yes, I am being serious and no, I am not exaggerating. I was in his livestreams on Twitch so I could see the chat. Some of the shit I've seen is pretty appalling honestly. I love Joe, but his takes on Claude were a bit sketchy for me because he was part of the "let's go kill Rhea because she's evil" brigade. The Claude community at large typically knows of his content, but it's not just his community and it's not just the people outside of his community - it's both.
You're completely right about the Claude stans too, sadly. Not all Claude fans do that, not even all GW Claude fans, but I've seen my faaair share of "we're the real fans" and "you don't understand him" from people who prefer his behavior in Hopes. Apparently they wholly missed the part where Hopes was an AU, or maybe they just imagined the eye patch on Dimitri the whole time and never noticed.
I don't have a problem with people liking the writing or liking that version of Claude, but most of the ones I've met or seen posts from are like... very pushy and aggressive about it. Thankfully most of them did catch the racist understones and don't support that, i.e. actual Claude fans and not uwugard stans, though of course uwugard stans don't care about that at all because yes, certainly, let the brown man be questionable and do evil things for our Totally Not Evil white waifu. Yaaaawn.
It also really sucks because I only know a few people who liked GW Claude without liking him in a hypocritcal way. Like sure, you can find it interesting and still like him while understanding what he did wasn't good or justifiable (justifiable because he did not choose violence as a last resort in any of his battles, whether they were fights he picked/started or not). The closest he came was begging his abusive, hateful brother to stop fighting him, which was... uh... yeah, okay). It's just that the ones who now think they're the "true fans" are very loud and mean.
Like nah, I'm gonna keep liking my big brained Claude who can fight his battles with words and secrecy. Everyone else is doing the violence thing, so I'm perfectly happy with Claude being the outlier and being the unexpectedly different one. I happen to like the contrast in his personality, wanting to bring people together and make everyone happy pappy sunshine and rainbowy friends, while still having that fear of rejection, of being hated and feeling the need to be sneaky and secretive because he's paranoid. I like the guy who makes poisons that are "relatively harmelss" and sleeps with a knife under his pillow, but who also wants to be lighthearted, learn to love others and be loved in return for the first time in his life. That was a fun, interesting, detailed character.
Pretty sure I'm a "true Claude fan" just like the next guy who likes GW Claude but isn't a dick to other people about it.

SPN S1E16 liveblog for Some Goddamn Reason
It's been a while since I did this but I need to mend some pants. Netflix pls do not @ me about account sharing. This one is called "Shadow" and apparently involves Meg. I do not currently remember jack or shit about it.
Oh hey this is the episode that that post I reblogged recently (the one with Dean teasing Sam about his being in "Our Town") comes from!
"Your alarm is about as useful as boobs on a man" well I. I think I might have some objections to what that statement implies.
Shoutout to Sam for instantly being suspicious of Meg--it's a little sad how he's like "nice coincidences like this don't happen to us" tho.
You know I feel like I've seen Meg's haircut on like twenty different young queer people recently and that + her general style are kind of throwing how I read her in 2024. She looks kinda gay to me now. I don't recall thinking that before, but of course I was also like. twelve. and significantly less familiar with gay people. Dude I totally focused on writing this post for too long Sam are you in an elevator shaft. Are you going to fall down the elevator shaft. Man sewing my pants took way less time than I assumed.
No matter how charming Dean is, I have a really hard time believing that he actually managed to get the--presumably confidential!--records of the murder victims out of someone at the police station. (I'm not sure if Amy is an officer or not.) Well actually as I type this I can totally see a police officer leaking that kind of thing to impress someone they want to fuck.
"What if this whole thing was over tonight?" he says. This just gets funnier with time. FIFTEEN SEASONS. And Sam still wants to back to school...... :'( I am once again saying that having a lawyer in the family would've been really useful. Man this whole convo is just sad knowing about the. as I said. FIFTEEN SEASONS.
There is NO way they actually got out of the elevator shaft that quietly. I mean I was assuming Meg knew Sam followed her but now I'm like oh she's GOT to know they're there.
Meg's kinda hot. Anyway.
She is, to me, less hot when she's doing the typical sexy villain thing tho. I find that very overdone.
Anyway! There's John. I am not as happy about this as the show wants me to be. He ALSO looks so young here. And the Spanish voice they picked for him isn't helping, it sounds really young/a lot like the Sam and Dean voices. Also slightly evil, which is fun.
Ooh it gets so GRAINY when things are brightly lit.

Do you think Peregrine will do something to Olivia if he founds out that she used to work as an Unspeakable(since a death eater used to work as an Unseakable, I imagine it must be one of the positions he loathes the most) and MC's professor who has a big influence on them? Would be more a more interesting storyline tbh
Alright, I know that quite a lot of people predict that R/Peregrine will hurt Olivia or that something bad will happen to her because of them. And while I admit it is a possible scenario, I really doubt it’d be “a punishment” for working as an Unspeakable. Why? Because Olivia’s former job feels too convenient to be just a coincidence, in my opinion.
I’ll talk about it more when I finally have time to sit to my bigger theory about Elton Elderberry, but it’s actually a feeling I have since Olivia was introduced (or at least since it was revealed she worked for the Ministry). What is important for THIS discussion is this:
We know that Olivia worked as an Unspeakable, but she also keeps hinting that her work had something to do with “minds” in particular.
We know that R spent some unknown time searching for the Dark Scroll which would allow one to brew the mind-enhancing potion.
From the letter R sent to Jacob after Duncan’s death, we know that they were after enlightenment and immortality.
The same letter reveals that they’re very aware of Olivia’s existence and apparently know about whatever happened to her. Now, it’s hard to tell if the current writing team still cares about that letter from Y5, but if they do, I realised it’s possible that “Miss Green’s fate” refers to Rakepick erasing Olivia’s memory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even if Jam City ignores R’s old letter, I simply don’t believe Peregrine that he never heard about Olivia Green. Also, Olivia’s memories we viewed basically confirmed that R knew about Duncan (Rakepick talked with someone about “Mr Ashe”), so I think it’s unlikely they wouldn’t know about Olivia.
If R knew about Olivia, I think it’s unlikely that they would just… let her be after she left Hogwarts.
With all of the above in mind, I believe we have two possibilities. The first option is that R placed Olivia in the Ministry. To be clear, Olivia might be totally unaware of that. However, it doesn’t mean R wasn’t using her (and they kept modifying her memory, for example). The second option is that R simply kept an eye on Olivia, and so they know already about her former job.
Actually, that’s another important thing: R seems to be aware of what happens at the Ministry, at least more or less. Peregrine knows about Macnair and whatnot. I assume they also had to gain some insight before Verucca broke in to steal a Portkey. And I somehow doubt it’s just a recent thing, so if they’re indeed observing the Ministry, I imagine they’d notice Olivia’s presence there eventually, especially since she was already on their radar because of her connection to Jacob.
So yeah, if you ask me, if R wanted to punish Olivia for working as an Unspeakable, they would do it by now. And since she seems to be fine, I believe that she either was or somehow still is useful to them. I don’t think she’s secretly evil or whatever; I’m pretty sure she’s an unaware victim in the whole situation. But at the same time, I do think that this situation is controlled by R.
By the way, while I was thinking about this reply, I realised something else. If the letter sent by R after Duncan’s death is really still relevant to the story, it might mean that Jacob knew about Olivia’s memories being erased (assuming it was “Miss Green’s fate” like I said). And that means that either Jacob we see is truly an imposter or his memories were modified as well at some point.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💗
Picking favourites is so hard.
1. Definitely Sweet Defiance, that one just flowed while I was writing. The only problem with having an associated song while writing a fic is now every time Renegades starts playing I start thinking about space pirates again. Naming them renegades in the fic actually came before the song first showed up though and when I saw the name while making the playlist for it, it was so perfect (hence the title came from the song)
Eddie Thawne was a Captain in the Fleet, and very good at his job. He hadn’t meant to get caught up with a renegade, but Iris had spun a tale of corruption within the Fleet and justice for her lost love, it was the morally right thing, she didn’t deserve the label she’d been given.
Only her husband was not the fellow officer she’d initially claimed. Nor was he quite as dead as they’d thought. (Westhallen, T, 25k)
2. Ghosting has to be up there somewhere, I loved writing that
Hartley didn't like Cisco. So, if he was desperate enough to be asking Cisco for help with his apparently haunted house, maybe Cisco should take him seriously. There had to be an explaination for it all somewhere. Maybe with the electrics. Flickering lights definitely sounded like an electrical fault. Not ghosts, ghosts weren't real.
There's something going on with this house though.
(Hartmon, T, 15k)
3. I had really good fun writing The Questing Flower. I even drew a map
It’s rare that a Questing Flower will bloom, yet here was Iris with a golden flower in her hands, and a vow to do her upmost to succeed in a Quest no one’s ever succeeded in for over five hundred years, even though she hasn’t even passed all her other Knight Trials yet.
And then the Queen’s Son is gone, vanished from his room in the middle of the night, leaving no trace. It’s no coincidence the flower bloomed the same night, and perhaps finding Barry isn’t Iris’ Quest, but he is her best friend.
Besides, it’s not like she even knows where to start looking for the Moon. (Gen, T, 73k)
4. Flash Red; Vibe Blue is not my first published Flashvibe fic but because it took a bit to write I'm pretty sure it was the first I started to write and it still holds the honour of the only time a fic ever made me stop writing it so I can go to Tesco, buy yeast, and bake bread. The next scene was written while the bread was rising
In which Cisco runs into Wally West in Jitters and one spontaneous decision later, he’s moving in with Wally and Wally’s kind of cute brother.
Armando would probably have laughed at him, but Doctor Wells’ particle accelerator took Armando away from them, and Cisco has other things to focus on.
Like proving it wasn’t the accident Wells claimed. (Flashvibe, T, 12k)
5. Can I count the whole Tess Lives AU as one please, it is published as a series of 12 fics with snippets of the important story part of one AU rather than entirely rewriting series one, but I had so much fun writing that and I can't pick just one
Tess Morgan survives the car crash. Harrison Wells doesn't. So it's a little odd he's still walking around, and Tess is determined to prove the truth.
(Predominantly gen, featuring Westallen and Tess Morgan/Tina McGee, T, 32k total)
Thank you!
