Opening night in Torino for Italian Tour was full of excitement!
Simone Giovannini, usually Alonzo, made his Gatto Mistoffelees cover debut. Congratulations Simone!
The other Simones, Ragozzino as Mungojerrie and Nocerino as Admetus, get ready, with Michele Balzano as Coricopat and Sergio Giacomelli as Munkustrap sharing their dressing room.
Elga Martino as Tantomile and Michele Balzano as Coricopat try to see into the future and this vision is full of Martina Peruzzi as Gatta Cucciola.
Gianluca Pilla as Quaxo celebrates his arrival at Teatro Colosseo.
Gabriele Aulisio as Bill Bailey shares a portrait from Simone Ragozzino and Viviana Salvo as Demeter shares her makeup when getting ready.
It occurred to me that I’ve never seen any Cats fan art in the style of The Cat Returns… and I am by no means an artist but I made an attempt. Enjoy this Mistoffelees staring into your soul (how do you draw eyes?? Idk)
Memos for Mungo in CATS Korea (which left a strong impression on me)
[Billy Mahoney as Mungojerrie]
His voice was so Mungo that it caused a Mungo revolution in me(what?)
・Felt the presence of his ears more than the Shiki cats version.
・His eyeliner looks curly and cute
He had a Kitten-like playfulness that didn't seem very NOTORIOUS CATS, it was like a schoolboy or toddler bragging about his bad behavior. I had never seen such a Mungo before, as the Shiki cats version of Mungo looks more adult to me. The only image that came close was Morita's Mungo in Shiki Cats, although even he had strong antagonistic feelings towards Grizabella.
・Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer
Last part of the lyric they sang like “Or down from the library there comes a loud PI~~NG(high tone), From a vase which is commonly said to be MI~~~NG(high tone)” which could have hearty laugh from the audience if it would have been in London
His mouth has a great range of motion, and this is my impression from having seen many Japanese performances, but I think western actors have such a wide range of facial expressions that they could almost be used as CG references. Honestly, I got the sense why I feel that western 3DCG characters' facial expressions are exaggerated (this is what I thought when I visited and saw musicals in London before).
This was the best Mungo ever as Major's version of Mungo, but I was wondering how it would look to those who think “'mature, badass' is what Mungo is!!!”
[George Hankers as Mungojerrie]
Looks smaller than Billy? Felt a sense of slender - boyishness Mungo
I realized after buying the booklet that he is a SWING cast member(also a dance captain), and I can only imagine how great it is to be in charge of the SWING of CATS
My first impression of him was a Shiki version of a Corico-like boyishness, and in fact I felt it was close to where he stood with Jellicle Song and Naming of Cats. (I don't think his position in the dance is close.) That is why he was the first cat I paid attention to.
He was very Mungo during his own number, but after that and occasionally he looked so chill sometimes which I thought was like well, this was the overseas version of Mungo, got it, got it (then I saw Billy and realized that was not the case).
I thought for a moment that because he is a Swing that his Mungo has something cool?, but then I learned that he has been acting Mungo for many years, and it made sense that he has a cool boyish Mungo personality.

I tend to focus on seeing Misto when I see CATS basically, so I didn't think I would pay this much attention to Mungo ever like this. I think this is one of the joys of watching different adaptations. I had various thoughts about other cats, but I wanted to draw about Mungo first… I would like to upload some notes for other cats but which might take some time.
