Combeferre always does his research!

Langages des Fleurs by Charlotte de la Tour was first published 1819. A revised second edition became available in 1827. Anyone with access to Parisian bibliothèques could find themselves skimming with curiosity.

Combeferre curates his bouquet carefully, down to the very number of leaves. Lilacs for first romantic attraction and snapdragons for unwavering bravery and strength.

One of my biggest challenges in art in general is NOT including every little detail. I don't have a set style per se but I DO have set shapes and flows I like & tend to repeat. I took Over Detailed Basq and tried him over again in the simple styles I normally just sketch for fun. It's weirdly hard to let go of detail especially with personal characters. The top style is not one of my strengths at the moment and I'm not sure why it's usually the thing I try first. The stuff at the bottom is a lot closer to anything for comics or meaningful character interactions and it's much closer to the kinds of media I enjoy where the impression and silhouette of a character is FAR more valuable than a thousand details. I got this "rules for me but not for thee" idea that if something is easier or faster that it's cheating somehow. Fuck it's not. Choose the visual language to say what you want or need to say, not the visual language that just constantly ratchets up the technical challenge.

Day: 6 Birth of The Multiverse.

Today is a new day. A new beginning. Endless possibilities. Endless versions of me. Weaved together we share a reality. Picture where there is another me. Picture how happy they are to be. There’s endless possibilities. New beginnings. New starts. Tickets to a new world. I could be anything. I can be a star. I can have my name in bright lights. I can be running under the moon and stars. Picture being a new me. New stories. A new sun and moon. Yet I am still me. All of these stories are untold yet they are only a start. A new me could be birthed anywhere, anytime. People say that small moments can bring the biggest of changes. I wonder…Will there be a new me? Will I join the stars or will I be in an empty alley way? So many me’s. Different realities. Yet somehow they all stem from now. Wouldn’t it be amazing to talk to a different you in your dreams?

I was introduced to ART Philosophy when a friend gifted me the Odyssey Watercolor Confections watercolour set which features an interesting palette of earth tone colours. It has really interesting naming for the colours but you can more or less tell what they are according to the more convention names for the colours. I quite like them. Here's a page that was done with these lovely rich earthly hues.

oh my god i just got my timetable for the year i’m about to murder someone i was put into the fucking art class. if you weren’t here circa last semester the thing about me is i hate that art teacher with my entire being. good god. also inexplicably put into marketing for semester two which was not even remotely what i signed up for. oh my guidance counsellor is gonna be hearing from me for sure
