Oshiete Kudasai Fujishima-san - this is GOOD. Consent is great, the male lead is hot, the sex is actually really good and not the same scene repeated 50 times! But... the female lead... this one comment sums it up:

2. Hapi Mari - This one is really nice! I like the character dynamics, it is not super explicit but the characters are sketched out pretty well. Slightly dumber female lead, but its not as bad as the previous one!
3. Osananajimi Bartender to Hajimeru Kaikan Lesson - short I think, the art style is not to my liking. But the characters are so nice, and the side characters are sweet! And they have this 'cocktail language' that is very cutely used hehe, good read! And CONSENT!!!
4. Tada no Renai nanka de Kikkonai: Kojirase Joushi to Fetish na Buka (We Can't Do Just Plain Love: She's Got a Fetish, Her Boss Has Low Self-Esteem) - The title is pretty funny lmaoooo and I love this manga the most of them all!! This female lead is TO DIE FOR. The concept of this manga is really fun, so this is honestly such a hidden gem. I highly recommend this.
5. Talk To Me - this is actually a manhwa, so the art style takes some time to get used to. Also a little slow, not much happens each chapter, but its a very cute light-hearted read, smexy smexy though! The 2 couples are written very well, so I am currently enjoying this quite a bit ehehe
As for anime, my recommendation of Kaichou Wa Maid Sama still stands!! It's a good anime, and the manga left me in tears <3 Other than that, here are some of my favs that fit your taste (none of these are erotica like the mangas, but they're still very funny):

MEMOIR : IN THE LOVING MEMORY OF MY LATE GRADE 9 ADVISER
Death is certain yet we don't when it will happen. That is the lesson we learned from the subject Introduction to Philosophy of the Human Person. Death of someone is the most unforgettable moment of my high school life that took the steering wheel of my ship and took change of another direction. Her death is the most devastating of all of my experience as a high school student. She was our Adviser in Grade 9 when I was in high school, she was really like an angel, she really took care of us amidst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The first time I met her was thru a submission of my activities of my modules, since that time we had a lockdown before. My first impression of her is that she is a type of teacher who would always get mad of you, like a mother with a children of four. However she was different, her approach is like a soft touch of a pillow that caress your tired head. She was like "Magandang Umaga po mommy kayo po ba yung mommy ni Steven Dueñas?" she asked. "Opo ako po iyon huhu...pasensya na po kayo sa abala nako sorry kung na late ako marami pa kasi akong inaasikaso sa bahay!" My mom worriedly told my Late Former adviser "Oh don't worry po ayos lang po iyon, mamaya pa naman kami aalis by the way my name is Emerlinda P. Cerna and I am the Adviser of your child po it's so nice to meet you po" then she shook hands with my mom. Her smile was extends to her ears and her calm voice soothes my ears to the extend that my mind full of thoughts quickly fades away and my attention was transferred to her as she and my mom were talking to each other.
Mrs. Emerlinda P. Cerna was always there for me like every questions that I ask her thru personal messages on messenger regarding to her lesson, she always responds quickly. She's a very considerate person that she even accepts late outputs to be submitted in their house personally. As I arrive upon their house the one who greeted me was her mother, and I told her mom that "Good Morning po nandito po ba Si Ma'am Cerna may ipapasa lang po sana akong outputs po pasensya na po sa abala!" I told to her mom while feeling blue. "Ah sandali lang ahhh.....Emerlinda....may naghahanap sayo dito estudyante mo ata ire!" Her mom shouted. At last ma'am Emerlinda came out from the door and greeted me "Good morning nak kamusta ka? Bakit na late ka ng pagsubmit?" She worryingly asked. "Ma'am nagtrabaho pa po kasi ako sinamahan ko pa po sila mama sa pagtitinda po ehh pasensya na po ma'am!" My respond to her as if I am begging mercy in front of the almighty God. "Ahhh sige anak wait kunin ko lang itong Outputs mo tapos.....kasama mo ba si Mama mo?" She suddenly asked. "Opo ma'am Nasa labas po siya hinihintay nya po ako. Bakit po ma'am may problema po ba sa grades ko?" I nervously asked. "Wala naman anak actually Ibibigay ko Sana yung card mo sa mommy mo since hindi nga siya naka-attend ng teacher-parent conference." she calmly responded. Her statement were a mix of life and death situation to me it's because I don't know what is the condition of my grades. I called my mom to come over so that she could receive my average for the 4th Quarter and that is 95 and I am held as the only student who received highest grade in our class. I cry a river for that since it is my first time achieving that kind of title in all of my years studying, my mom also did she couldn't believe that I would be able to achieve "With High honors" at that time. Ma'am Emerlinda also cried and she said that she was glad that I became her student, that she is so proud of me, and she wishes me to do my best in the upcoming Grade 10.
During Grade 10 it was somewhere February of 2022 my best friend brought me the news "HOI BESHIIE NABALITAAN MO NA!?" She quickly approaches me and she was catching her breath as if she run in the never-ending road. "Oh sis...bat ka hinihingal abay mag hinay hinay ka kasi gurl...ano bang sasabihin mo ha? Bat parang nagmamadali ka?" I asked her with doubt. "BEH PATAY NA YUNG ADVISER NYO!?" She said. My ears didn't get it at first so I asked her once again "HA! ANO DAW!? PATAY!? SINO YUNG ADVISER NAMIN!? SINONG ADVISER BEH!?" I asked her in a high tone because of the shock that gave me. "BEH SI MA'AM CERNA YUNG ADVISER NIYO NUNG GRADE 9 DEDO NA SIYA!" As I heard those words in my mind, my mind says it's true but my heart does not believe to any words that comes out of her mouth. Because that is just impossible since I just recently talked with her a month ago, how does my best friend know about the news on my adviser's death. "OH ETO AYAW MO PA MANIWALA AHHH!" She then showed a Facebook post with my adviser where she was put inside of a coffin, lifeless. My Tears drops like a needle as if no one could hear me crying. I was running at that time towards to our house because I cannot take the news about Ma'am Cerna's death. I cried at that time since she was like a mother to me. All of those lessons that she taught me, were now be only memories which I will always cherish how I wish that she is still right beside me.
After hearing the news about her death, I wasn't able to attend to her lamay to mourn to her death since I was really busy with helping my mom with her business, but some of my classmates did, and they inform me that the cause of her death was because there was a connection in her brain that was severed which resulted to her demise. After her burial, I was able to visit their house and I notice her son which is approximately 3 years old at that time, and her husband carrying him, I felt pity for the family especially to her Son and husband which were devastated and felt really empty on those times and I said to myself that I hope they are able to get pass throught this dark times.
Because of what happened to Ma'am Cerna her death made a pathway to my chosen career in the future. Since I really love her and the way she taught me, that's why I wanted to follow the path she started and I will be the one to continue it as a token of my gratitude for her great efforts, In which it granted me an access to be a HUMSS student today. It's because of her that's why I wanted to be someone like her not because of the perks and benefits of being a teacher but to be a better instrument for kids and teens who will be soon the pillars of the community and the society.

CHAPTER 5
All of my life, I lived a luxurious life. I didn't get to experience working for money, nor even asking for it.
My parents didn't fail to provide me with material things. Iniisip ko palang nakahain na sa harap ko agad.
A lot of kids envy me for that. They wanted my life, they dreamed of being in my position.
They see me as a lucky person. I mean who wouldn't when I already have everything?
They always admire my clothes, bags, and shoes. But I have never heard them compliment my hard work, I don't even know if they see it. I mean, how? If they got deprived of sight by the blinding opulence they saw in our family.
Hindi ko na din naman sila masisisi. It's like when they know that you are part of Trinidad, they expect you to be always on top. They expect you to be great all the time. And even just a little mistake will be seen as a failure.
Hindi na ako nagulat sa nakita kong mga numero nang binuksan ko ang bank account ko. Mas dumami ito ngayon dahil nagpadala si Mommy last month para daw mai-celebrate ko ang pagiging ambassador ko sa organization namin.
Nag withdraw lang ako ng 10 thousands at kinuha ang isang separate card ko to check it.
My parents don't know that I opened a new bank account, they don't even know what is happening in my life outside school, I don't think they care that much.
Instead of buying things I wouldn't even use, I used all the money they are giving me to invest in big companies.
At the age of 19, I managed to have 10% of the share of stock in one of the banks here in the Philippines. And I also bought each town houses in Pasig and San Juan City an ngayon ay parehas ng okupado.

Gusot gusot ang damit nito at marungis ang mukha. Naglakad ito patungo sa dulo ng jeep at nagbigay ng puting sobre, ang hula ko ay lalagyan namin ng pera yun.
This is my first time encountering something like this.
Makailan na din ako nakasakay sa jeep ngunit wala naman ganito dati. Punuan ang jeep at sa tabi ng pintuan ako nakaupo kaya naman madali lang sakin ang mapagmasdan ang mga reaksyon at itsura ng mga tao.
Mangilan ngilan na umaakto na walang pakialam sa paligid, ang iba naman ay nakapikit wari'y natutulog. Ang iba ay nagkukwentuhan at ang iba ay nag cecellphone lang.
Ngayon ang Volunteerism namin at sa School muna kami magkikita kita, hindi na ako nag dala ng kotse dahil may University bus na maghahantid samin doon.
Mag tataxi na sana ako kaso wala naman dumadaan kaya naisipan ko nalang mag jeep dahil baka malate pa ako kung maghihintay ako doon. At sa kakamadali ay hindi na ako nakapagluto pa ng breakfast kaya naman nag take out nalang ako ng Parmesan Crusted Fish Fillet sa Italianni dahil ito ang malapit sa condo.
Nakita ko kung papaanong marahan kinukuha pabalik ng bata ang mga sobreng inaabot sakanya kahit kabibigay lang na halata mong walang laman.
Hindi pa ako nito binibigyan dahil nagsimula siya sa dulo kaya naman hinihintay ko lang siyang tumapat at lumapit sakin.
Napatigil ito sa pag abot ng nahulog ang sobreng inabot ng babae sa tabi ko, natapakan pa ito. Kunot noo naman akong lumingon sa babae at nakitang parang wala lang sa kanya ang nangyari.
I get that they might not have money to give but even a respect ba ay wala sila?
Huminga ako nang malalim at yumuko para pulutin ang sobreng madumi na at hangang ngayon ay nakaipit sa paa ng babaeng katabi ko. Tumingala naman ang bata sakin ay inabot ang kamay para kunin ang sobre sa kamay ko.
Ngunit bago ko ito binigay ay dumukot ako ng isang libo sa wallet ko at inalagay sa loob, nakita ko na nanlalaki ang mata ng babaeng walang respetong tinapakan ang sobre ng bata kanina. Kinuha ko din ang tinake out kong pagkain at sabay yun na inabot sa bata.
"Dito ka muna, dito mo na kainin to." Nagulat naman ako nang makita may luha na umaalpas sa mga mata nito.
"Hala bakit? Dahil ba dito?" Pinakita ko ang maduming sobreng may laman na ngayong isang libo.
"Sorry, ito na yung pinaglagyan ko kasi sayang yung mga sobre kung bibigyan mo pa ako ng bago." Nagaalala kong sabi at hindi pa din ito tumigil sa kakaiyak.
Iniisip ko na baka umiiyak ito dahil sa bigat ng loob doon sa nangyare sa sobre.
"Wag ka na umiyak, kainin mo na yan." Nanonood lang samin ang mga pasahero ng jeep at ang kaninang mga walang pakialam ay nakatingin na samin.
Huminto naman ang jeep at may bumaba na isang pasahero kaya sinabi ko na maupo siya doon saka ko inabot ang bayad niya kay Manong driver.
Pinili niyang maupo sa tapat ko kaya naman umusog ang iba para mabigyan siya ng space.
Napangiti naman ako nang masaya nitong kinain ang bigay ko. Medyo malayo layo pa naman ako sa School kaya binantayan ko lang ito. She's so thin and fragile, siguro ay nasa sampong taon na ito. Where are her parents?
Gusto ko man itong tanungin ngunit mukhang alam ko na din ang sagot.
Kids like her shouldn't be out here begging for money, she should be in school, having fun with other kids. Making memories, but of course, only the privileged have the right to enjoy life. Only the privileged have the right to be treated right.
"You're late." Ate Roxan is now standing in front of me with her arms crossed on her chest at nakataas din ang kilay nitong sabi sakin.
"I'm sorry, Ate Roxan!" I held her arms and tried to soothe her frowning face.

I bit my lip. Hinatid ko muna kasi ang bata sa bahay nila dahil alam kong delikado at may hawak siyang ganong halaga ng pera. Wala ang mga magulang nito nang makarating kami doon.
"Ate pwede ba kitang yakapin?" Nagulat naman ako sa tanong nito.
"Of course, come here." Mabilis itong lumapit sakin at niyakap ang bewang ko nang mahigpit.
"Thank you po, Ate. Pakiramdam ko po ay kayo ang guardian angel ko. Gutom na gutom na po talaga ako kanina at mukhang dininig ni Lord ang dasal ko at sa jeep na yun ako dinala. Gusto ko po kayo tulungan pabalik, ang laking halaga din po nun."
I hugged her back and combed her hair with my fingers.
"No need, baby girl. Basta promise me that you will study nalang. Abutin mo ang pangarap mo, kahit gaano kahirap. And always remember na marami kaming pwedeng maging guardian angel mo." Ngumiti ito at tumango sakin.
Nabanggit niya kanina na nag-aaral daw siya ngunit pahinto hinto dahil wala silang pera at kinakailangan niya kumayod para sa pamilya nila. Nasabi niya din na gusto daw niya maging idol.
Napanood niya daw kasi minsan sa cellphone ng isa sa pasahero ng jeep yung Korean daw na sumasayaw at kumakanta, gusto niyo daw maging ganun.
I felt happy when I heard that. Because it means that there is still hope. Na kahit ang dami niyang pinagdadaanan sa buhay sa murang edad ay natututo pa din itong mangarap.
She inspires me, I think it's my prayer that is the one that God answered. If so... I hope God also answers this..
I hope she really becomes an idol and will inspire many people..
"My God! nakakaloka ah. Anong petsa na? Ang usapan ay dapat 8:30 andito na sila." Napapailing nalang ang ibang mga Peer dahil hangang ngayon ay hindi pa din kumpleto ang mga nasa list ng sasama.
Habang ako naman ay napayuko nalang dahil alam kong isa ako sa mga late.
"Ang tanong sasama ba talaga yung mga nasa list na yan? Baka mamaya mga papansin lang. Tsk."
Sinilip ko ang mga pangalan sa list na wala pang cross out na tanda na present na sila ngayon, nakita kong sila Yna iyun at ilang mga so-called-friend niya.
"Do we really have to wait for them? Masyado na silang nakakapwerhisyo. Andoon na sa meeting place ang ilang mga University na kasama, nakakahiya naman kung late tayo, Alisson."
Tinignan ko naman si Ate Alisson na malalim na nag-iisip sa harap namin.
"Rae." Napaangat naman ako uli ng tingin ng tawagin ako nito.
"Do you have contacts with them?" Ang kaninang nakay Ate Alisson na atensyon ay nakabaling na sakin ngayon.
I do have Yna's number because she always calls me for help whenever she needs to social climb some elite person.
Tumango ako at kinuha ang cellphone saka dinial ang number ni Yna. Halos naka anim din na ring bago nito sagutin.
"Oh, what does Great Avalyn Rae Trinidad want to call me today? This is the first, Finally. Now tell me and I will oblige. " Naparolyo ang mata ko nang marinig ko ang paghikab nito.
"Get you and your friends ass who listed their names in Volunteerism here in the University." Seryoso kong sabi, ramdam ko naman ang mga matang nakatutok sakin ngayon.
"....What? "
"Be here in exactly 15 minutes." I end the call and look at Ate Alisson who is now smiling.
"I'll just wait for them here, Ate Alisson. Mauna na kayo at susunod na lang kami."
"What? Paano ka?" Bumaling naman ako kay Ate Roxan at ngumiti dito.
"Yna has a car Ate, Doon nalang po ako sasabay." She nodded and gather the students para makasakay na sila sa bus.
I look at Ate Alisson na kanina pa nakatingin at nakangiti sakin.
"Bakit po, Ate Alisson?"
"Wala lang, ngayon ko lang kasi narealize na iba ang estado natin sa buhay. I always see you as a very quiet and down to Earth person despite you being rich. I don't know why, but I am happy to see that you have the power over them."
Tinapik nito ang balikat ko at nag paalam na mauuna na sila.
I look at my wristwatch, it's only a few minutes away before 15 mins.
Kasama kong naghihintay sa labas ng University ang Security Guard ng University. Sinabihan ako nito na sumilong muna dahil mataas na din ang sikat ng araw.
This is my first time doing a Volunteerism and yet here I am waiting for Yna na hindi ko din sigurado kung dadating ba.
What if hindi? Paano ako nito? Ah mag bubus nalang siguro ako since sa Antipolo lang naman ang Venue.
Napaigtad ako nang maramdam na nag vibrate ang cellphone ko.

"You're just over analyzing things." Tumalikod na ako dito at naglakad papunta sa SUV at sumunod naman siya sakin.
"And you think I'm too smart to over analyze things?" I just shook my head at bubuksan na sana ang pintuan ng Van nang pigilan ako nito.
"Ano bang kinakatakot mo? Iniisip mo bang isusumbong kita sa parents mo? Oh please, I'm too busy to talk to my parents, sa parents mo pa kaya? At isa pa, anong masama kung may boyfriend ka? You don't need to deny it to me. Wag ako, I know we're not friends, but admit it, I know you better than the others, even better than yourself."

"Time Heals Every Wound"
As I finished watching a Kdrama series entitled"Daily Dose of Sunshine", it reminded me how important mental health awareness is. Each one of us needed some outlets to vent or let all the negative emotions out from your system.
So, here's my way of letting out all these thoughts out of my neurons. Let's type it in English para syala (charaught). I don't wanna share this so you can pry on my private life, nope. I don't wanna lay all my hidden cards just for you, Marites (charaught). I just wanna inspire all those ppl who's having difficulty in dealing with their mental health.
Here it goes…
During my younger years, I was fond with my father and I was called "Tatay's girl". I remembered all those happy memories with him. Clinging unto him and sitting upon his lap while him singing. He has so many dad jokes and my mom has it too! Everytime my family will go out, I was always with him. There are times he'll carry me up in his shoulders, we call it "usong". He'll always 'usong' me cause I like being tall. But all things changed…
It all started when I was at the age of 8 and I'm in 3rd Grade. I witnessed an act, a father shouldn't do to his children. But I didn't know that before I witnessed it, it has been his habitual deed. Then the dark days fell upon my family. Starting there, I acquired a psychological trauma.
I started.. being distant and cautious around him, I didn't wear shorts, sleeveless and chest-revealing tops, I stopped talking in eye-to-eye and felt uncomfortable beside him. That fear or uncomfortableness got bigger and wider as I grew up …and extended towards all men.
Highschool days slash teenage days, I was around 2nd year or 3rd year when my Nanay and Tatay got separated and had their new partners in life. We were left behind in our house, me and my siblings. That was our rough years of our lives. Living under one roof with traumas. During daytime, we struggle for everyday expenses like going to school—the fare and food cause when Tatay says everytime he'll give us 'baon' for like 5 pesos, 10 pesos he'll say, "What will we do? That's only my money."—in a pagalit way. But with all those, we always go to school everyday cause we have dreams to fulfill. In nighttime, we struggle for our fear of him. Me, my Ate Jeffie and Ate Jenet will always pray every night and always bring 'sundang' (a big knife) beside our bed…
Later on, as my parents part ways, my Tatay left with his new partner and he didn't totally support our household finances and he didn't send us to school financially. He also said the most painful words that, "She's not my child", while pointing at me. It was all painful as he said those words infront of me. I've known and acknowledged him as my father inspite of all those things he said and done.
Living with all those fears and traumas we still live life to the fullest. Instead of getting sad or being hopeless, we remain faithful, hopeful and accepting the fact that Nanay, Tatay and our family will never be the same again.
As we graduated college, indeed it's "the best revenge of all those challenges and trials".
As my age every year increases, my psychological trauma's still remains within me.
When we discovered my father's illness got worst, people throw sharp words at us that "Balikbaliktarin man ang mundo, Tatay niyo pa rin siya". It's easier said than done. Well, despite him without asking for forgiveness, we still remain his children and forgive him. We tend and cares for him… And in the long run, the hate, anger and fear changed into sympathy. Sympathy for his new life wherein we saw how his life was ruined by his past actions. We saw how hard his new life is.
All throughout our lives, there are so many "what ifs" came in our mind. Like.. "What if..he never did what he did?" "What if.. children can choose their parents?" And so many thoughts like, "Buti pa sila.."
Buut thinking all those things we've experienced, that made us stronger and I'm thankful for those things—the sad, happy, fearful, successful and conquered happenings in our lives. Thank God! And now, I can say, "Tay, ginpapasaylo ka na namon. Ginhimu namon tanan para la masumpayan imo kinabuhi pero kay di man naton kaput an aton hinuram na kinabuhi. Kaya Tay, pahuway na dayon. Di ka na makakafeel kasakitan kun hain ka man yana. Nawa'y gabayan ka san aton makagarahum na Amay san imo paglakaton. Till we meet again. "
And now, I can tell… Time really heals every wound in God's will and timing. 🥹😭🙏🏼
PS: still overcoming the trauma, but in God's will .. it'll be healed.

List of errands that I did today with my mama:
We checked the accomodation house na provided ng hospital. Malapit lang siya sa hospital. Pwede maglakad lang. Kasi sabi ko, mag aapply lang ako kung meron free lodging kasi ayaw ko na umuwi ng bahay dahil natatakot ako na baka mamaya may dala akong virus pauwi, i mean kahit wala sakin mismo, yung sa mga gamit ko and all. Ayaw ko macompromise health ni mama at may bata pa ko na pinsan. So yeah, maglilipat na lang ako ng gamit bukas dun kasi kakabili ko lang nung mga necessities ko.
1st pic: nag fifit ako ng bra haha kasi syempre 3 months akong di uuwi samin, dun lang muna ko sa accomodation eh wala ko mga new bras so nag hoard muna ko haha
2nd pic: nag pa flu vaccine ako kasi isa mga requirements yun bago pumasok, di ko siya nagawa kahapon kasi umuwi na ko after ng duty. Then si mama, sabi ko mag pa flu shot na din kasi recommended din naman ng DOH.
3rd pic: Nagpalaminate ako ng ID, haha chubby cheeks ko pa dito. Card ng flu vaccine with mama.
4th pic: mostly pang disinfect mga binili ko haha 😂 kasi sa zonrox colored ko ibabad yung mga damit na pinang duty ko. Then Lysol syempre, cling wrap para pambalot sa cellphone ko pag inside the lab na, para yung wrap na lang ididisinfect ko. Then mga ziplocks para sa ibang gamit. Lahat yan dadalhin ko dun sa lodging house namin. Haha. Wala ko masyado pagkain kasi pa kain naman daw eh. Haha so yeah, snacks lang at juices binili ko.
Tomorrow, lilipat na ko then plano ko mag vlog after haha. Room tour charot hahaha then plants ng mama ko. Kasi mamimiss ko sila haha
I am happy and grateful talaga kay God for all the blessings and lalo na sa protection everyday.

Season 5 Lucifer
welcome to my unsolicited thoughts about Season 5 of Lucifer.
as an avid and veteran series binger AND a talker-while-watching-a-movie-or-series-but-does-not-want-to-spoil-anything-for-my-friends type of person, i have finally dedicated a space and found a good way to let all my thoughts out as i watch a movie or series when i am alone when i can’t bother a lot of people because (1) they don’t want to be bothered and (2) i don’t want to spoil things for them.
so here are my thoughts, and of course, SPOILERS AHEAD.
BTW, i LOVED all of Lucifer! but this season was a slow burn for me.
ep1
drug scene at Lux; is Amenadiel mean now?
so is Lucifer himself in his own hell loop when he became the ruler of hell? his own guilt towards his father? idk (to be frank, i don’t remember the past episodes except for the fact that he is now back in hell)
the premise of the first episode is cute!
side note after the title card: i remember how much i loved the soundtrack for Lucifer!
Maze is still hot.
I love how Maze and Chloe’s relationship developed and how they don’t have to use words to communicate.
Amenadiel’s and the Psychologist’s house HAHAHAHA i love it.

#PHnews: Surprising loved ones in the new normal
MANILA – The doorbell rings and you’re greeted by a delivery person who tells you that “someone” ordered food for you. But instead of handing you the delivery, she tells you that you need to pick it up from the car’s trunk.
You’re suspicious, but agree to do so. She leads you to her car and when she opens the trunk—surprise! It’s decorated with nearly a dozen balloons, lights, and a streamer that says “I miss you!” You later realize that it’s from your boyfriend who’s currently abroad working to save enough for your future together.
This is what goes on in the “car trunk surprise” business that’s making rounds on social media as a new way to surprise loved ones in the new normal that currently restricts travel and bans large gatherings due to threat of Covid-19 pandemic. It’s also a side hustle which has helped displaced cruise-line worker Babe Ruth Tolentino, 30, earn extra cash after major cruise operators suspended their sailings.
“Nag-decide ako na mag-start ng business na puwede sa’kin. Ngayong pandemic, mahirap magwork ngayon kung saan-saan. Meron naman kaming car, so ‘yun na lang yung naisip ko (I decided to start business that I can handle. Now that we have pandemic, it’s difficult to go around to work. We have car, so I came out with this idea) instead of just delivering food or other items,” Tolentino told the Philippine News Agency.
Tolentino said she and her sisters lost their jobs because of the pandemic so she thought of making use of their cars to delivery items to make profit.
“Sabay-sabay kami nawalan ng work. Ayun nga, may mga kotse then wala naman kaming mahanap na work, ‘yun na lang (We lost our jobs at the same time. We had cars but we couldn’t find work, so that’s what we thought of),” she added.

Since her sisters were crafty, she decided to combine their artistic talents and her social skills to put up a business that eventually became known as “Mi Amor Car Trunk Surprise”. Mi Amor, which in Spanish means “my love” is the perfect tagline considering they offer surprise packages meant to be delivered to loved ones.
“Yung mga sisters ko, sila yung may knowledge sa mga decorations so parang in-adopt ko nalang din ‘yun para in one plan na ganun, sama-sama kami. Sila yung nagde-decorate, ako lang yung nag-a-approve ng mga bookings (My sisters, they’re the ones with knowledge in decorations so I adopted that so that we have this joint plan we can work on together. They make the decorations, I approve the bookings),” she said.
The car trunk surprise caters to different occasions -- birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, bridal showers, or even a random day you decided you want to win back your ex-lover.
Tolentino said that preparing a car trunk surprise would usually take two to three days, depending on the theme of the client’s preference. They would have to print customized streamers, photos of the recipient to put on a clothesline, and a letter.
Buying the flowers and cake and other food would have to be done on the day of the delivery to guarantee freshness. Setting up the car trunk surprise would only take around an hour, she said.
But the most challenging part is looking for the recipient’s address, she said: “lalo na kung yung bahay nasa liblib (especially if the house is in a remote place).”

Most accommodating
Although there is a bunch of other car trunk surprise businesses around, Tolentino considers theirs the most accommodating when it comes to customers’ requests. It also helps that it’s among the most affordable car trunk services around.
“What I can say is affordable siya (It’s affordable). Sa reviews, sinasabi nila mas madali kaming kausap ganun (In reviews, people say we’re easy to talk to),” she said.
The cheapest car trunk surprise package, Package A costs PHP1,499 inclusive of a theme of your choice, music to be played when the trunk is opened, balloons, five to 10 photos to be hung up, coated mallows, a special message card.
Package B, which costs PHP1,999, offers the same inclusions as Package A but with a box of banana cupcakes and a plush toy. Package C, which costs PHP2,499, also offers the same inclusions but with a choice of either two boxes of banana cupcakes or brownies, a small expensive toy, and a flower bouquet.
On top of the package is a delivery fee which will be computed based on distance, but clients who live within Biñán, Laguna don’t have to pay a single centavo since it’s where Tolentino and her sisters currently live.
To date, Mi Amor Car Trunk Surprise has surprised recipients from all over Region 4-A or Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon).
She said that her experience as a cruise line worker has trained her to be customer service driven such that she always makes it a point that her clients are given their money’s worth.
“Before kami nag-start, nag-observe din naman ako. I tried to inquire sa mga ganyan, then sometimes ay ‘hindi po puwede ma’am, may ganito, ganyan’ sabi ko baka puwede po medyo mababa yung price, ‘hindi rin po.’ Hindi accommodating masyado ‘to. I said iibahin ko siya sa way ko (Before we started with our business, I observed how others did it. I tried to inquire with other shops, then sometimes they’d say, ‘we can’t do that, ma’am because of this and that’ and I’d ask, maybe we can get a lower price, they’d say, ‘we can’t do that.’ They’re not that accommodating. So I said, I’ll take a different approach),” she said.
Tolentino’s quest to be more accommodating eventually paid off as clients have been leaving rave reviews on their official Facebook Page.
Three months after they launched their car trunk surprise business, Tolentino and her sisters opened a party supplies kiosk to cater to those who also wanted to have mini parties in their homes.

Tug at heartstrings
This Valentine’s Day, she said many potential clients have started inquiring their services. But she said she can only accept as much as three clients per day.
“Feb. 14 is para dito lang sa Biñan kasi super busy ko po. Hindi ko rin sila maipagda-drive kasi yung store namin is tatlo, pupuntahan ko every hour, tse-check ko kung ano na status so magiging busy din ako. Tatlo lang kukunin namin (We will only cater to those living within Biñan on Feb. 14 because I’d be super busy that day. I won’t be able to drive because we have three stores which I visit every hour to check. So we can only book about three clients),” she said.
For Tolentino, the best part about their business is getting to witness the happy look on recipients faces the very moment they receive the surprise.
“Iba yung feeling. Minsan nga naiiyak din kami lalo na kapag mga parents yung sinu-surprise ganun. Nakakadala yung emotions (It feels different. Sometimes we also feel like crying when clients surprise their parents. We get carried away with emotions),” she said.
She said most of their clients are overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) or siblings who want to surprise their elderly parents.
“Kasi nga hindi na nakauwi. Mostly yung mga nagpapa-surprise 60th birthday, 18th ganun. Mga hindi na nakapag-party sa bahay (It’s because they can’t come home. Most of those who avail of our services are those who want a surprise for 60th birthdays or 18th birthdays. Those who can’t throw parties in their homes),” she said.
Until now, Tolentino says that she and her siblings find time to surprise their own parents given their knack for pulling off surprises.
“Mahirap nga lang sila isurprise kasi siyempre magkakasama kami sa bahay. Ngayong pandemic triny naming i-surprise sa resort (It’s difficult to pull off a surprise because we live in the same house. But this pandemic, we tried surprising them by taking them to a resort),” she added.
When cruise lines resume operations, Tolentino plans to get her job back and let her sisters manage their party supplies business.
“Yung sa car trunk, ‘yun ang hindi ko pa sure kung paano ko siya gagawin. Marunong din naman mag-drive yung mom ko so baka ituloy pa rin nila (As for the car trunk business, that’s what I’m not quite sure about doing. My mom knows how to drive, so they might keep doing it),” she said. (PNA)

Are you typically too warm or too cold? i used to be too cold all the time and then i went through a time where i was too hot and now im back to somewhere in the middle but mostly cold. my fingers turn blue a lot lolol
What were you doing 45 minutes ago? mm so i just watched the premier of blindspot s5 and it is now dead to me and i will be forgetting this episode happened and not continuing the season. so ive spent the last hour trying to erase the ep from my memory and cheer myself up. its not working so now im answering 50 questions. as one does.

Favourite pair of shoes? aesthetically ive got some bomb heels but i havent had the occasion to wear those in a long time
The time you normally go to bed? before all this 11-1. now idk time is just a construct
The time you normally get up? ..before all this 8/9 depending on what time my class was. now i force myself to get up around 9/10. i dont naturally wake up. if i dont set an alarm i will sleep until 1pm
What do you prefer, sunrise or sunsets? i like both but i havent seen many sunrises bc i dont wake up. so sunset

How did you get your biggest scar? i dont have many scars. i have one above my eye from falling backwards into a rocking chair lol
What did you do today that made someone else happy? i dont know, honestly. i feel like im barely interacting with people. i ran errands with my mom and i think that made her happy...but she was in a bad mood so hard to tell lolol

Taiwan 2019 | Places to Visit in Taiwan
The truth is Taiwan was never in my must-visit place until I saw a lot of my friends go to this country ever since the visa-free entry was granted to Filipinos. And to my surprise, Taiwan did not disappoint with its traditional streets, local temples, and array of mouthwatering street food lining up at the night market and not to mention the very reason why we go here – MILK TEA!!!
FROM AIRPORT TO HOTEL
We booked a car rental through Klook that will transfer us from airport to our hotel for only P1,371 for 3 pax (P457 each) since we will arrive by midnight.
BOOK HERE
There’s actually an Airport Train Station from Terminal 1 that can take you to Taipei Main Station in 35 minutes (if you’re riding the express train; 50 minutes if you board the commuter train which stops at all stations).
WHERE WE STAYED
One thing we always consider when choosing a place to stay abroad is the accesibility of public transportation (travel tip: subways and trains are the easiest way of transportation when you’re in a foreign country). We have shortlisted a lot of options and after much deliberation (and away hahaha!), we’ve chosen Kingshi Hotel.

Kingshi Hotel offers us a nice location since it is near the busy shopping district of Ximending (like 5 minutes walk lang siya!!!) and close to Ximen Station and convenience stores. A good value for money, the hotel is undeniably cozy with its amenities and clean bathrooms. It also comes with free breakfast however, do not expect much since they only serve breads, sausages, hams, boiled eggs, and coffees (rice, who?) and the eating area is just in front of the reception.
TAIWAN ESSENTIALS #1: WIFI
We booked a 4g WiFi rental through Klook and have it picked up exactly at our hotel so we wouldn’t have much trouble getting it at the airport. We paid P221 each good for 5 days already.

TAIWAN ESSENTIALS #2: EASY CARD
If Japan has their Kansai Thru Pass, Korea has their T-Money Card, then Taiwan has their Easy Card!
One can easily get this in train stations and convenience stores for 100 TWD and you can use this not just in their trains, but in their buses as well. Mind you that their fares are pretty cheap so go easy on loading your card, you can just reload it everytime at the stations.
TAIWAN ESSENTIALS #3: GOOGLE MAPS / TAIWAN METRO MAP OR APP
Just like in Japan and Korea, Google Maps will be your best buddy during your travel abroad! You can also save the Taiwan Metro map or download the app for easier navigation. Although, google maps is more efficient since it gives you the departure and arrival time of trains or which transportation (bus or train, or paglalakarin ka niya nang malayo) to take.
PLACES TO VISIT IN TAIWAN
LONGSHAN TEMPLE
We started wandering the city of Taipei and found ourselves roaming around the temples. Looking around, these places of faith showed how religious they are – they light incense, bow their head a few times, drop red crescent shaped pieces of wood, kneel in front of the golden statues, and whisper a little prayer hoping everything will come true.
Longshan Temple, almost 300 years old, is Taipei’s oldest and most famous temple. It is central to the history, traditions and culture of Taiwan’s capital city.
Admission: FREE
Schedule: 6 am – 10 pm, daily
How to get there: Take the Blue MRT line to Longshan Temple Station and head for Exit 1.
CHIANG KAI SHEK MEMORIAL HALL
Watching the changing of guards at Chiang Kai Shek was probably one of the highlights of our first day. The snappiness, the coordination, everything was so smooth. Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall was built in 1980 in memory of the former President of the Republic of China. And upon entering, I was left in awe with how huge the whole park is.
Admission: FREE
Schedule: 9 am – 6 pm, daily
How to get there: Take Red Line 2 or Green Line 3 to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, sometimes labeled as C.K.S. Memorial Hall.
ELEPHANT MOUNTAIN TRAIL
Elephant Mountain Trail was just a simple climb (the term ‘mountain’ is a bit of a misnomer) but we were sweating and catching our breaths when we reached the top.
“The view must better be worth it,” I whispered to myself in between heaves of exhaustion. True enough, it does offer you a striking view of Taipei City, with Taipei 101 in the center.
Admission: Free
Schedule: 9 am – 9:30 pm
How to get there: Take Red Line going to Xiangshan Station and leave from Exit 2. Continue walking alongside the edge of the park. At the end of this road, take a left and follow until the entrance for Elephant Mountain Trail.
TAIPEI ZOO
A must-visit if you love animals! Considered as the largest zoo in Asia, Taipei Zoo is the home to Yuan Zai, the first giant panda cub born in Taiwan. The zoo is very gigantic to the point that my feet almost gave up while strolling around (pero sino ba kasi nagsabing mag boots ka??? HAHA tiis ganda for OOTD).

How to get there: Take the Brown Line 1 to Taipei Zoo Station and take Exit 1.
RAINBOW VILLAGE
Rainbow Village is a small village painted with artwork by a veteran soldier called “Rainbow Grandpa” to save it from being demolished and now being considered as a cultural area.
The quirky village is just a small collection of painted houses and can be toured in less than an hour, however, like any tourist place, this place was packed with a lot of people, making it hard to get good photos for Instagram (you know it haha!).
Admission: Free
Schedule: 8:30 am – 6:00 pm
How to get there: From Taipei Main Station, take a high-speed rail (hsr) to Taichung. From Taichung HSR Station, go to the bus terminal and ride Bus #30 going to Rainbow Village. For easier transportation, take a cab going to Rainbow Village.
HOULI FLOWER FARM / ZHONGSHE FLOWER MARKET
As you enter Houli Flower Farm, you can see a bbq area inside and just a few steps away, the path will lead you to the flower fields. Different explosion of colors and various kinds of flowers welcomed our eyes as they stretched along musical instruments, flower arches, and life-sized photo frames.
Admission: NTD 150 (NTD 350 package for unli bbq and entrance fee)
Schedule: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (weekdays) / 9:00 pm (weekends), daily
How to get there: From Taichung Station, take Exit 3 connected to TRA. Take the train going to Houli Station. Take a taxi going to Houli Flower Farm. (From Rainbow Village, take taxi going to Houli Flower Farm for a more convenient transportation.)
YEHLIU GEOPARK
One of the most visited tourist spots in Taiwan, Yehliu Geopark boasts its great rock formations that stretches in 1.7 km landscape. You’ll see rocks in oddly shapes that resemble like mushroom, candlesticks, ice cream cones, queen’s head, making you feel like you’re in a different world, like maybe you are in Alice in Wonderland film.
At any time of the day, there are influx of tourists here and the place could really get crowded, it will be hard for you to take photos.
Admission: NTD 80
Schedule: 8 am – 5 pm, daily
How to get there: From Taipei Main Station, take Bus 1800 going to Keelung City. From Keelung City port, take Bus 790, in front of Family Mart. Then, walk going to Yehliu Geopark entrance.
SHIFEN OLD STREET
Its old streets and railroad town and sky lanterns have made Shifen an interesting tourist spot in Taiwan. It has a collection of lanes and alleys where tourists can take their photos and full of restaurants and small stalls selling Taiwan delicacies. However, we skipped those and proceeded to the 20-meter tall waterfall, known as the “Little Niagara of Taiwan”. Unfortunately, it was already closed by the time we arrived there so we just had a glimpse of the waterfalls.

Schedule: Shifen Waterfalls – 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
How to get there: From Taipei Main station, take a train heading to Ruifang Station. Take a train to Shifen Station.
JIUFEN
Filled with array of red paper lanterns casting a soft glow on the streets, Jiufen has a majestic and unique atmosphere especially at night. Sadly, we arrived here pretty late that almost all food stalls, cafes, and restaurants, were closing, and not to mention that it was raining hard that time. We still wandered through the streets and found ourselves buying a milk tea, although, we didn’t reach the famous A Mei Teahouse.

Schedule: 8:00 am – 10:00 pm
How to get there: From Taipei Main Station, take the train going to Ruifang Station. After exiting the station and facing the Wellcome supermarket, take a left and walk 200 metres down Mingdeng Road. Next to the police station is a bus station with routes 827 and 788 heading toward Jiufen.
CONFUCIUS TEMPLE
Easily my favorite temple that we’ve visited in Taiwan, exploring Confucius Temple gives you an introduction to Confucius’ teachings, Taiwan’s culture, religion, and history. This temple is interactive and very informative, there are a lot of things you can actually do and see here aside from the temple itself – 4D cinema, Chinese calligraphy, traditional ensembles, etc.

How to get there: Take the Red Line to Yuanshan Station. Leave at Exit 2, continue walking down Kulun St, and take a right at the intersection of Dalong St.
