Sunny noticed rather fast that she was the one constantly getting up during the night even though she had actually had to go to work during the days, she was the one constantly taking care of Sterlings’ needs. Title: Spirals Unspoken

Summary: Looking back at moments that may have seemed insignificant can sometimes lead a person down a spiral of their own thoughts. (This story is based off some ‘drama’ I talked about in my sims game here!)
An icy glare stared down Nero’s fiancée as he watched her delicate fingers trace the smooth metal band that adorned her other hand. It was a thoughtless habit that Rebecca had formed a few weeks after he had gifted it to her. One that never failed to brighten up his usually stoic features when he thought about the future they were making and when his eyes flicked up to see a blissful smile painted on soft, peach lips. Except when his gaze finally lifted, Nero wasn’t met with a sunny smile but instead a subtle downturn of his lover’s lips as she continued to fiddle with the simplistic sterling silver band. A wave of worry crashed over the moonlit haired hunter when his crystal lakes fell to dainty hands once more, only to see them grasp the band then give a small tug. When he saw how it didn’t budge, a small seed of relief was planted in the young hunter’s being before that, too, was drowned within his building doubts.
Leaning on to the hard countertop that separated the couple to get a better look at her actions, Nero finally spoke up. “Hey, that thing suddenly too tight or something?”
Although the brunt of his voice sounded unappreciative and harsh, the undertones of his question were drenched in concern. When his words reached her ears, Rebecca only shook her head and tore the prodding hand away from the ring to dismiss his worries with a wave.
“No—no I was just thinking is all,” She finally replied with a smile that now seemed to strain her lips and a gaze that seemed weighted by those thoughts.
Nero casually questioned what was on her mind, but the way his snowy brows knit together revealed that he already knew. It had to be that damn five-minute scene that played out when the couple had visited his childhood friend and Rebecca’s partner in crime who had just so happened to have moved in together to balance each other out.
At the moment, Nero thought nothing about the silken tone that had laced Kyrie’s soft words or the way that his cheeks warmed up as cradled one in the cushion of his hand while his elbow slightly slipped on the smooth island countertop and he tried to shoot back a witty reply. But every time he recalled that insignificant moment the more vivid it had come to be, especially the wide-eyed glance that Rebecca cast him and the wary laugh that slipped past her lips seemingly to brush something off as she twisted on the stool next to him before returning her attention to the demon with dusty ruby tangles that stood on the other side of the countertop island.
Even now as the young hunter reflected on that small scene, his heart dropped from his chest and into his churning stomach when that soft yet saddened laugh echoed through his thoughts. It was so loud to Nero, that the rather cheerful song Rebecca now hummed while she danced around their kitchen had been completely washed away beneath his blank stare. Unbeknownst to the love of his life just before him, Nero’s thoughts continued to spiral into the rabbit hole of what-ifs that all resulted in her leaving him completely in one way or another. That one conclusion left Nero’s breath bated, his throat scratchy and dry, and a sickness stirring within his stomach so that when Rebecca presented him with his share of the pancakes they had made all he could choke out was a hasty,
“I need to go take care of some things.”
As he hastily scooped up the jacket that laid across the seat beside him, a tide of concern had swirled around the lavender locked lady. Hurriedly stumbling after him Rebecca began questioning all sorts of things, from his well-being to what had come up to if she had done something herself.
The heated hunter only paused in his exit to tell her, “Nah, it’s nothing too bad I just want it gone before it can rear its ugly head.” Seeing how Rebecca’s arched eyebrows were still furrowed with worry made Nero take a step back and place a hand on her shoulder before he brushed his lips against her creased forehead in a chaste manner. “I’ll be back before you can miss me, promise.”
Momentarily soothed, Rebecca gave a nod with an uncertain but bright smile as she wished him the best. “Stay safe, I love you!” She quickly called out after but the clicking sound of the door being shut already rang through the air…

Welcome to the family Sterling Swan!
Sterling is the currency in Great Brittain (like a Pound Sterling or something) but it also had a meaning that was similar to grey as it’s a silvery metal so it felt fitting. And technically, Sunny has 0 relation to him as her and Aurelia aren’t married and she’s not the other parent, oops.
