vtm, the perfect setting for a sitcom

this isn't a proper campaign or anything, just a fun thought experiment i'm calling 'NYC outcasts' in my head :)
in life paša was a struggling comp sci student, in undeath he is a silly guy who takes the concept of 'masquerade' very literally.
david, on the other hand, is about as normal as people get. he is a regular human guy who completed his cs degree, got a well paying job, and has a great relationship with his parents. what is he even doing here?
asylym, the protagonist of vtmb, was politely exiled to the east coast after diablerising a certain prominent kindred in LA, which won her some favours with the clan tremere, but burned any and all bridges with her own clanmates.
cáit's mind copes with the horrors of the malkavian hive mind by forgetting anything it doesn't deem important. like the fact that she wouldn't know what a chicken nugget tastes like, them being a vampire, or, oddly enough, david's name. or was it damian?
upon entering university madaline made a conscious decision to be cool, extraverted and just like all the other girls. what she got in return was an eternity of hanging out with theater kids, a perpetual dissatisfaction with the art she creates, and a sire who kind of wants to turn her into a golden statue.

The REFRESH AU
The REFRESH AU is a post-true ending OMORI AU that focuses on HEADSPACE and how it has changed after the events of the game.
In this AU, after the truth was revealed, Sunny stopped using HEADSPACE as a coping mechanism, leaving it to become desolate as everybody eventually faded away.
Except for Omori.
After discovering Omori was still alive and kicking (by being dragged forcefully into WHITE SPACE due to Omori's sheer loneliness), Sunny created a brand-new HEADSPACE for Omori to play and live in, with brand new friends and areas to explore and horrors to fear.
The AU mainly focuses on the silly adventures of Omori and his new friends, and does follow a main plotline, however this plotline is still currently in the works.
Expect more art and content of these guys soon! :)

my mini fuckin essay apparently. this is about rapid eyes! go watch it here. tw for mental health problems, amnesia, death and loss, suicide mentions, ect. also a long ass post!
this is about the main character of rapid eyes being a system. maybe not canonly but. i see some parallels between my system and the player <3
ahh okay i have an interpretation of this series.
as a system, i see a lot of parallels to a system in this character and game.
in a previous episode (#6?) red eyes refers to the player as "they" and while i am all for the player being nonbinary or using they/them, i do personally think it could also be the plural they/them, and our main character is a system.
the way red eyes acts, is very much a persecutor move, being rude or self-destructive in the way a verbally abusive person is. (sometimes introjects of abusers repeat the abuse out of a trauma reaction or other fear) i think red eyes showing up first in the forest where the player grew up, maybe they represent a childhood trauma, like an abusive parent, or maybe an outside person hurting the player. i saw another system say they didn't like the "evil alter" trope, but honestly? i think, if this is a system character, then it's done pretty well, as this character is just self destructive and not harming outside people. sort of like, a representation of how OCD/PTSD can make you spiral and think about it uncontrollably, and how people can beat themselves up about loss like this.
i totally respect if it makes other systems uncomfortable though!! anyway.
radio comes off as very genuinely kind and sweet, only trying to help and reassure the player. sort of like an emotional protector. she reminds me of some of our child alters, she's so silly. i love her. she's silly and lighthearted but clearly is a traumaholder, or at least aware of the trauma.
the game represents an inner world, something many systems develop as a coping mechanism. these can look like anything.
the game (and in our case) has many different popular places from various horror games, but also from their real life. the scary "slenderman" woods (which the player says they lived near when they were a child), the backrooms, the school (based off of their old school), the boardwalk, the parking lot (player says they were afraid of them as a child).
it's all familiar to our player, and so was put in their inner world as to make sense of the scary reality they were living in.
(a little funny, but our headspace has a part of an among us map in it lol)
to add to this, the constant, changing nature of the game is reminiscent of an inner world of a system. ours changes mildly often, and who can or cant access parts of the inner world also changes, which explains radio being unable to contact the player in places red eyes controls (like the backrooms, and this cave).
now, DID (and other dissociative disorders) has amnesia attached to it. the fact that the player seems unable to remember that they made rapid eyes, is very in line with DID (i have a lot of art we've made that i have no memory of making.) but also kind of implies that the game was worked on by the other characters. the boardwalk changes, the parking lot changes, and we can assume that the player didn't do that (it implied they gave on the game entirely).
also, the name. "rapid eyes". it reminds me of looking around quickly out of terror or fear, but i also saw someone mention REM sleep (RAPID EYE movement) also being a meaning, which i think makes much more sense.
now, episode #11.
radio breaking because of the fall, representing how kind words don't help when youre in the pits of your mental illness. or at least, not as much as they would if you had heard them in a better state. the nooses, the notes, the ruined lockers, it's all memories and urges, traumatic and otherwise coming together when you're at your worst and trying to stop ruminating on the past.
and the phone call:
this teal character (who i'll just call static for now) has called before, when radio was out for a second to take care of something. they clearly have a lot of suicidal ideation and worthlessness related thoughts. i don't really know if static is the player, or another part of them, or what, but we've only just met them, so maybe we'll find out later?
in the phone call, they talk to their grandmother, who says their dad is sick. the player reacts very instantly to this, as if remember the phone call with terror.
static plays the concern off, saying he was fine and just taking a nap. the player is audibly crying now, though it's quiet and horrifyingly sad. the acting in this part is insanely good and i love it. anyway,
"i should have called someone" (responded with "yeah, you think?" which is another example of the player constantly using humor to cope)
clearly, this character and the player share guilt. over their father's death, presumably. the player begs to be left alone, maybe to red eyes, who is implied to be torturing the player.
a note for this scene is, someone in the comments mentions the "as above, so below" note, and how that is the title of a movie in which a character misses a phone call right before her father commits suicide. it lines up pretty well, and can be assumed to be a reference.
episode #11 is the final episode as of now, and is very interesting. i'll be watching for more! anyway.

ROUND 1 POLL 1
7. Suspicious Stew (He/Him, Xe/Xem) @hilaomart
Stew is the reincarnation of a thief and swindler who died from poison. This untimely death leads him to an early interest in various poisons and their effects on the body. Fearing his own untimely death, xe begins to drink his experiments in small doses to give himself an immunity to the substances. His lack of basic lab safety led to an incident in which he lost his right eye, leaving a large chemical burn over the right side of his face. Other than this, for a while, he was relatively normal. After an incident with another mad scientist in which he was the unwilling subject, Stew began to lose himself in his work to cope. Xe branched out into the broader fields of biochemistry and potion magic, experimenting on himself to avoid putting anything else in the position he was once in. Xe got a job in a more normal lab to pay the bills, occasionally stealing equipment and materials from his job for his own home lab. He began to sell potions and poisons on the black market to fund his work.
Xeir hubris began to catch up to xem. One incident in his lab with a dangerous substance led to permanent damage to his body as well as the loss of his right arm. The various mutations he gave himself were slowly making him less and less human as his morals slipped away. He experimented with the art of creation, bringing abominations of flesh to life. Xe began to rob graves and steal corpses to experiment on. He was becoming what he feared the most, though xe didn’t have enough humanity left to care.
Stew is a strange little guy. He’s quite unnerving and dare I say, suspicious. He’s protective of those he cares for to a dangerous degree. Xes awkward, finding trouble in social interaction due to years of self isolation. He’s doomed by the narrative and only half aware of it. Besides his scientific endeavors, xe enjoys practical jokes, skateboarding, and the company of whatever family he has left.

Edgar Gahds is a 19 year old forensics scientist (and absolute sweetheart, but don't tell him I said that)
CW: Blood n death n organs, etc in his description. He is a mad scientist after all!
- He's a huge fan of gothic horror novels like Frankenstein and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and he essentially bases his entire career on them!
- He has a fascination with how humans work. That's why he took up forensics! It means you can look at corpses without getting in trouble!
- He's so excited about blood and organs! He has models he plays with during court cases sometimes. He doesn't think of it as playing though. It's expressing himself!
- Edgar's experiments mostly consist of murder victims because wow there are a lot in this universe. A lot.
- He loves animals and dislikes animal testing :(( he's not against human testing tho lmao go ham
- He loves horror movies and the makeup and special effects that go into them!
(He's my Ace Attorney OC but I didn't wanna deter any potential voters!! ;) he's simply a silly guy!)

art vs artist 2023!
this year: for the first time probably ever it was actually difficult to select just 8 pieces to represent this year. I drew A LOT overall, even considering some dry spells. the side effects and bad health shit I'm still experiencing have been a little less abhorrent than last year but art continues to be something that is helping me cope with the horrors of it. been a mixed bag in terms of materials which is cool. there's a lot of pencil art I'm extremely extremely fond of but which isn't really polished enough to go on here... I drew A LOT of monkees screenshots & those few months of doing that were really important for my ability to draw loosely and simplify things!! I was in either a traditional phase where I couldn't make digital art or vice versa, no in between!! first half of the year was traditional art, second half digital. plenty of times this year I've been really frustrated and baffled by my sudden inability to make even faces (the only thing I'm good at) look even passable, so it's nice to see a little collection of things I'm proud of to remind me I am actually okay sometimes.
next year: my big goal for next year is more lino prints and more painting! I have some canvases to practice on and lots of paint so it's silly that my fear of failure (as well as the effort of setting up paints) is holding me back from something I think I'll enjoy a lot. trying to make more art of animals is another goal; I don't think I'll ever enjoy like making art of landscapes (urban or boreal) but animals I adore and might lead me into being able to make paleo art eventually :) ultimately people are my #1 love so I also want to get MUCH BETTER at anatomy. I will do lots of anatomy studies next year for sure.

I see people is still sharing about "cultural religion" and I thought I could share this.
I grew up mostly atheist/cultural catholic, in one of the most catholic countries, but even if I was baptized I didn't know a thing. Many family members have chosen to do the "rites" only because it looks better for the social commitment. Meaning the big party. But this is not what I wanted to share.
So I have a career as an artist, and once, in a college/university summit, we got to meet some very amazing artists and their work, and even if you don't want to, Religion is a hugeeee important bit of the history of art. So you have to know the religious icons, representations, signs and codes. Artists are using them all the time in contemporary art, and if you want to understand you have to know how to read them and what they are referencing. Which means knowing about the bible and its stories.
So I was there, nodding along with the speaker and awed by his art, when suddenly this first-year, first-semester girl asks for the mic.
I have to remark how important this meeting and summit was, that the rector/director/ headmasters and other academic big deals were in attendance. So she stands up and begins to tell everyone that this is wrong.
That she didn't come to have a higher education to be "indoctrinated" in religion. Then she goes on and on about the evil religion she is being forced to learn. And were are all there, my peers and teachers and we are all cringing in horror. She says that the university should be a safe space to learn philosophy and sciences, and not ignorant beliefs.
So this old artist with an amazing career, having her art exposed all over the world, new york, and yara, yara, yara, places where art is a thing and not this bumfuck art faculty, and she absolutely destroyed the girl. She mopped the floor with her, she might as well put her on the soles of her shoes. She wiped her....with her.
If I were that girl, I would totally drop out in shame, like you don't just lecture people who are not only wiser than you, but also more academically prepared than you, just because you hate that your parents forced you to go to church when you were a child.
You don't need to believe in it, you don't have to like it, but it's so ignorant to just hate it and try to pretend it's not culturally important in some fields of study. And also try to pretend that it didn't exist or that is part of the western world. Whatever hatred it gets now, its probably due to the behaviors of some religious people or groups, am not saying is right, but it's so silly to blend it all together as the same satanic evil... (haha see what I did, I just made a cultural reference, if you don't know Judeo-Christian religions, then you wouldn't know what "evil" is).
For me being an atheist doesn't necessarily mean you hate religion. It only means I don't believe in it. Having no faith, and not doing any kind of rite. But I can read the bible with no problem.

Watching professors who teach 19thC lit try to cope with my cohort of entirely religiously ignorant classmates was hilarious. They were completely unprepared for how we knew absolutely nothing.

I just made a new logo to replace a old one from last year, used to be a fan of RCH and Superbendys' GF but now I've lost them because of myself. It's a horrible Spring to me and I feel like I could do some updates for the blog

Good question!! I'm doing some focus on stories I haven't share any of them yet and instead of posting some cringyass self-inserts that nobody wants to see this, no worries that I'm still doing it!! I don't wanna annoy everyone with those hideous self-ships(I'm always worried about the Cringe Culture thing) and maybe focusing on OC stories are okay. Y'know what's the secret update? I'm gonna do some coping mechanism blog!!

Wait what?? Nah, but I'm not against those "extreme cuddling" blogs I have discovered. If you don't know what that is then it's a word for a SFW vore community, id-even-k why it's called "Extreme Cuddling" but I prefer not to ask those people because they'll find I'm against those fetishes. I'm not gonna make a coping mechanism blog which it involves vore but I might able to make one for many stuff instead of those like
Self-inserts, I do think people are getting seriously uncomfortable with my self-shipping with freaky creepyahh unhinged deranged men(Like Night Master, Edward Hyde, and The Moaner) so I might gonna move them in the future blog, so it might be better if you stay away if you're against it
Vent/gore/body horror art, the new future blog won't be fetishize vent/gore/body horror art I've made but they just need triggering warnings for everyone's safety. Don't enter if you're scared as hell, I might be venting/yapping about something scary or sad-
New coping sona, I believe I have seen people having "coping sona" in their coping mechanism blogs and I might be thinking to myself: "Maybe I should be doing it" and maybe if she will appeared then y'all should love her. She may not be related to my persona Bridgette, but they're really good friends. No you cannot ship them.
Yapping and silliness!!! I should might be yapping nonsense that seems annoying but that's what silliness does to the person like me! If you think I'm being so goddamn annoying in the future coping blog then get the fuck outta my blog. Sorry for saying this but I don't feel safe people who are against me doing this but I ain't no doing anything wrong.
Coping blog won't be a vore blog. I know!!! Terrible!!! But at least it would be a SFW blog, with silliness joyfulness freakiness and more! I know I'm against those fetishes but I don't wanna get myself involved because it's extremely uncomfortable with me to do this. You might have end up seeing me yapping my ass off or some weird self-inserts but at least they're not hurting anybody. Proshipers isn't allow on my blog too.

Long time follower here, would love to hear about your OCs if you ever want to share!!! I love the ones you've shown, they're creative and fun, and your art style is so fun to look at.

Aww, thank you so much! QAQ I have quite a few rattling around in my head, I just never really get the courage to really post/say much about them on here. (I'm fighting my anxiety just to post this fhfghfhdgk)
But, here's the main ocs I think about (under the cut because this is gonna get long)
Zinnia Conifer
An absolute ball of sunshine, Zinnia is the sweetest girl you could possibly know. She's 13, loves anything about ghosts, aliens, and dragons. She also has narcolepsy with cataplexy and deals with it the best she can, with the help of her friends and family. She is one of the few people in my universe with time altering powers and has been slowly learning how to control them. Her main story involves her waking up in Limbo one day, and traveling through it trying to figure out how and why she got there, while meeting others who share her abilities.
(She's my baby oc and must be protected at all cost. She's completely oblivious to any danger around her)
Riddell Hazard
Riddell's an old barn owl familiar who had been blessed (cursed) with immortality. While his physical body may die, his consciousness is sent to another plane of existence while his body reconstructs. He's died many times over the years, and the strange way his immortality works has taken a toll on his body, to the point it'll give out on him without outside influence. Riddell was always a quiet and private person, but with this curse attached to him, he's become jaded and bitter, wishing to find a way out. However, he has a soft spot for birds, especially owls.
His story involves him meeting @lord-rosenth0rne's oc Cross and @junodabeach's oc Stark, dealing with the trauma and abuse he's dealt with over the years while finding a family that actually loves and cares for him.
(he gets a happy ending I swear)
Zane Selene
Zane is an anxious person who lives with their adopted family, full of magic users, while they are the lone 'powerless' human. While in truth, Zane possesses mysterious powers not even their adopted mother can place. Their story is more slice of life of them dealing with stuff going on in their hometown, Lyre's Hollow, that borders on the human and arcane realm. Lots of human and magic shenanigans, with background hints about where they came from.
And then the following ocs are ones that are fandom related that I think about a lot. All of them are pretty much 'but what if the protag had a friend the whole time'.
Ignacio Vasquez aka Vas
My Half Life oc, Vas worked as a general practitioner at Black Mesa before the resonance cascade. They're friends with Gordon and Barney before everything blew up, and during the events of the game, Vas travels with Gordon making an attempt to save as many people as possible on their journey out of the facility.
Vas is normally an easy going person, quick to immerse themselves into the latest rpg and make silly little bets on who can win a desk chair race. They also have a cochlear implant and sign often, especially with Gordon. Vas has to quickly adjust to being a combat medic with all the chaos around them.
Bellamy Espinoza aka Bell
My Dead Space oc, Bell is an engineer working on the Ishimura when the necromorph outbreak started. After being left for dead by their panicking crewmates, Bell had been hiding out, having to create some new gadgets just to stay alive. They eventually meet Isaac as he tries to get the Ishimura's engines started again, and help him get the ship up and running again (this poor man deserved the help I mean COME ON)
Bell is the type who uses humor to cope with the mounting horror around them, coming up with silly names for the creatues (like death pancake) and trying to ease tensions by making off the wall comments. Not that they don't take this seriously, they just need something to laugh at in a panic as they run for their life.
They do manage to survive the events of the first game, not without being mauled first.
and finally, Arsenio Conifer
My Pokemon oc. The past few Pokemon games I've played, I've played as Zinnia, I found it more fun playing as one of my child ocs rather than myself. So, Arsenio is Zinnia's parent in the Poke-verse (as well as canon parent, but for now they’re mainly Pokemon based).
Arsenio lives in Paldea, growing up with the reputation as being a living shiny charm because of how often shiny Pokemon seem to appear around them. They quickly got tired of being dragged around by fake friends, only using them to draw out rare Pokemon and quit being a trainer altogether. Instead, they created a care center that works to rehabilitate abandoned or neglected Pokemon, finding good homes for them, and working with the Professors by providing starter Pokemon for new trainers.
They grew up knowing Sada and Turo, and because of their job, they see them often. With the Professors disappearing for long periods, Arsenio had taken Arven in to watch over him. By the events of the game, they have practically adopted him. Also Poke-verse Zinnia sees Arven as her brother the entire game, they have an adorable sibling relationship going on.
