It's 2022. Suzie Bingham is a professor of Technology and Engineering at BYU. As she's walking to her classroom, a male student wearing crocs and holding a tiny microphone stops her and asks, "Should gay people be allowed to ge married?"
She looks straight into the cameraman's iPhone and says for all of tiktok to hear, "Of course. Two of my closest friends are gay, and they have been married for years. My sister is bisexual. I believe anyone should be allowed to get married."
The students are shocked and appalled. The tiktok goes viral. The comments hail her as a powerful ally to the LGBT community. BYU administrators question her on the matter, and she will not budge from her position. She is quietly terminated.
In retaliation, she hacks the schools entire system of computers and broadcasts a prerecorded very powerful speech on homophobia within Judeo-Christian religions. She is subsequently excommunicated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and she's never felt more free.
Her sister Eden calls her to congratulate her, having herself been excommunicated years prior. Dustin finally takes Suzie to see Book of Mormon, which she had previously refused on religious grounds. She finds it hilarious.
