Italians are INCREDIBLY diverse, much more diverse than people realize. It's a shame that the source material doesn't pay tribute to that. Italians comes in every shade, every nose shape, every eye color, some Italians don't even speak Italian but German. So even though these two look different, they're still Italy! And that's the beauty of it.

For those who aren't familiar with Italy during the later years of WWII: Italy was partitioned between the Kingdom of Italy (South) and the Republic of Salo (North). Romano and Veneziano are two different countries and are fighting on seperate sides against each other. Romano is on the side of the Allies; Veneziano for the Axis.

Maybe I shouldn’t post so many spoilers. But I want to share this too much!

Little bonus, first version of costume colours. I still like it, but changed it because of few reasons. I wanted to give him more bright and unique colours and also get rid of this amount of gradients, I thought that was to much. And I was afraid that this version reminds me more of some fancy lemonade/ramune…

after almost more than a year we are back with the instagram doodles who else cheered

i do really see veneziano as the type who would tease people (more often than not) with a completely innocent expression. no smirk. no rolling his eyes. no teasing tone. none of that. he just says and/or does things that seem totally genuine, and the only give away is the subtle look of delight in his eyes when he gets a reaction out of someone. it blends seamlessly into conversation and you might not even realize he's teasing, unless he keeps going at it and it's suddenly apparent he is not simply being clueless, and he looks far too amused for it to be an innocent action.

however, i also see him as the type to say/do things that seem teasing with completely serious/innocent intent (for example: when he says germany seems like the type of guy who "likes underwear"), so it's really a guessing game on what he's up to unless you pay close attention.
