"Heidi Shatsky" I need people to know that a shot ski is a real thing. It's several shotglasses attached to a ski. You get an appropriate amount of people and you all do a shot together, at the same time

I feel like this is a bit of ski culture that isn’t always believed when I try to talk about it, so…
Rejoice, shotskis be upon ye!
Tumblr media
You get four friends, the bar brings you your shots on glasses glued to a ski, and you all have to lift the ski at the same time so you can drink the collective shots without pouring them on yourselves.
Truly my culture has much to share with the world 😌
Next, ask us how many different words we have for snow in non-agglutinative languages

Buck & Eddie: The night Eddie met Buck 1.0
Tumblr media
Buck and Eddie’s Kitchen Scene in 3x9 “Fallout” has been viewed millions of times over the past three years and while comments from viewers have mainly included specifics regarding the details of their conversation, the body language each of them exhibited while they talked has not received as much attention. This post will focus solely on Buck’s and Eddie’s body language while they talked to each other to illustrate the effect Buck 1.0 had on Eddie.  Lastly it will show how Eddie’s heart eyes for Buck became more intense after that night.
Tumblr media
Buck and Eddie had been separated from each other after Buck filed the lawsuit against the LAFD and Bobby in 3x4 “Triggers”. He apologized to Eddie twice and his first apology took place inside of the firehouse in 3x6 “Monsters” but it only repaired their work partnership when Eddie forgave him.  They were shown to be working seamlessly together in 3x8 “Malfunction” when the 118 responded to a call at an Ice Show, when Buck noticed Eddie had a new truck and when they stood next to each other so that they could hide the cardboard cutout of Bobby that Buck had enlarged after he obtained a picture of him from Heidi Shotsky, the woman Bobby ice skated with when they were teenagers.
Tumblr media
3x9 “Fallout” Buck apologized for the second time during his conversation with Eddie while they were in his kitchen and even though they verbally communicated with each other, they used their body language as a method of communication as well. Buck was already in the kitchen opening the refrigerator when Eddie walked in carrying his and Christopher’s plates. They were talking about how Maddie tried to help a woman who called 9-1-1 for help. Eddie put his and Christopher’s plates in the sink, then walked over to the island to get Buck’s plate.  While he was putting Buck’s plate in the sink, Buck started opening their beers. He opened Eddie’s beer first and sat it on the island and then he opened his own beer.  They moved around Buck’s kitchen with a lot of domesticity and that illustrated how they had completed that process several times before even though Eddie and Christopher hadn’t been back to Buck’s loft since 3x3 “The Searchers” after the Tsunami.  They were completely comfortable with each other while Buck prepared to give Eddie a second apology for abandoning him and Christopher during the lawsuit.
Tumblr media
Buck opening Eddie’s beer is significant for two reasons: (1) he was taking care of Eddie and (2) since he was preparing a different apology than the one he gave Eddie while they were in the firehouse in 3x6; he was trying to determine if Eddie was ready to receive it and if he was ready to talk about all the things they needed to discuss like Eddie’s fighting and his therapy sessions.  In 3x12 “Fools” Buck didn’t open Eddie’s beer for him, he just slid it across the island and let Eddie open it himself.  Also in 5x4 “Home and Away” Eddie brought Buck a beer from Buck’s kitchen but he didn’t open it for him.  He simply handed it to him and allowed Buck to open it himself.
Tumblr media
After Eddie grabbed his beer from the island, he took his position by leaning against the countertop closest to the living room while Buck leaned against the countertop that was closest to the oven.  They continued to face each other, they kept eye contact, neither of them crossed their arms over their chests which meant their hearts were open and they never turned their backs on each other while they were talking.
Tumblr media
The way they didn’t attempt to protect their chests and backs is important because during the kitchen scenes with their ex-girlfriends, Buck had his back turned on her for the majority of their conversation; therefore she couldn’t see his face and his heart was not facing her either.  Eddie kept his back up against the refrigerator and his arms crossed over his chest during his breakup conversation with his ex-girlfriend. Buck’s back being turned to her meant he didn’t trust her and Eddie protected his heart when he kept his arms crossed over his chest and he also protected his back as he leaned against the refrigerator in his own kitchen (read blog post: “Buck & Eddie’s Kitchen Scene vs. Their Kitchen Scenes with Ana and Taylor” for more information on Eddie and Buck’s body language while they were in the kitchen with their ex-girlfriends). Since Buck and Eddie have each other’s backs, they blindly trust each other and they built their relationship on that trust during their first shift working together in 2x1 “Under Pressure”.  Since they weren’t trying to protect their hearts, their chests weren’t obstructed by their arms or any other obstacles.
Tumblr media
Once Eddie leaned against the counter and gripped the countertop, he didn’t move from that spot for the remainder of their conversation. He only moved his head while he talked to Buck and to look Buck up and down towards the end of their conversation.  He also glanced towards the living room so that he could check on Christopher and he would move his head to take a sip of his beer.
Tumblr media
Buck moved several times during their conversation; his movements were calculated and they were similar to the ways a Sumatran Tiger or a Snow Leopard (Buck mentioned these specific types of animals during his ramble about zoo animals in 5x2 “Desperate Times”) move when they are about to pounce on their prey.  Buck was smooth as he moved from standing next to the oven, to leaning over the island, to sitting on the island so that he could face Eddie and when he stood up and walked towards Eddie after he told him that he could still take him.
Tumblr media
When he started his apology, he was standing next to the oven but then he started moving closer to Eddie after he said, “I’m sorry I wasn’t there Eddie. You and Chris needed me and I had my head so far up my own behind with that stupid lawsuit”.  He moved even closer after Eddie said, “We’re way past that Buck” and Buck said “I’m not! I should have been there”.  He moved again when he leaned over the island and said, “Maybe I could have talked some sense into you” and Eddie said, “You talk sense into me? That would have been interesting”. When Buck said, “I could have told you not to buy that truck”, he continued to lean over the island as they talked about it because the first time Buck saw that Eddie had a new truck in 3x8 “Malfunction”, Eddie didn’t tell Buck where he got the money from to pay for it.  The money came from the illegal fight club Eddie had been participating in, so it appears Buck and Eddie had a conversation about Eddie’s fighting OFFSCREEN prior to their conversation in 3x9 since Buck mentioned it first while they were in the kitchen.
Tumblr media
Buck told him it was an impulse buy and then explained how that wasn’t like him at all.  Eddie said, “Maybe it should be” but Buck continued with “I’ll remind you of that when you’re begging for extra shifts to cover the payments”.  Since Eddie didn’t tell Buck where he got the money from to pay for the truck during their first conversation in 3x8, Buck knew Eddie might become defensive because their conversation in the kitchen in 3x9 was heading towards Eddie’s participation in that fight club.  Buck was pacing his movements to go along with the conversation so that Eddie wouldn’t get upset and start yelling at him like he did in 3x5 “Rage” when they were at the grocery store. Since Buck truly knows Eddie, he realized that he needed to give Eddie the opportunity to open up on his own without pushing him so that Eddie would talk about everything instead of him shutting down.  Buck listens to Eddie and he gives him the space and time he needs to process things that are hard for him to discuss (read blog post: “Buck listens to Eddie” for more information on the way Buck listens to Eddie).
Tumblr media
Buck continued to lean over the island as they continued talking about Eddie’s fighting and his therapy sessions with Frank.  They were being honest with each other about all the things that kept them apart during the lawsuit.   After Eddie said, “Things got a little out of hand for both of us, don’t beat yourself up about it”, Buck prepared to change his position again as he went from leaning over the island to partially sitting on top of it so that he could face Eddie head on.
Tumblr media
He started shifting his position when he asked Eddie, “Why cause you’d rather do it?” He was asking Eddie if he really wanted to punch him since they weren’t able to talk to each other during the lawsuit. Buck kept facing Eddie when he brought up Eddie’s therapy sessions with Frank because Eddie mentioned while they were at the firehouse that they weren’t clicking.  Even though Eddie asked him, “Who said I wasn’t being honest with Frank?”, Buck reminded him of what he said about them not clicking. Then Eddie said he wasn’t a therapy kind of guy.
Tumblr media
When Buck kept persisting to talk more about the fight club, he continued by saying, “Right, right, you prefer to work it out in the ring”.  Eddie tried to deflect the conversation when he said, “There was no ring Buck, there was a fence” but Buck wouldn’t let him and continued on with the rest of their conversation.  They kept their eyes on one another while they were talking and they continued to face each other.
Tumblr media
Eddie knows that he can be honest and vulnerable with Buck so there was no need for him to try and avoid Buck’s inquiries about his participation in the fight club.  When Buck said, “You don’t think while you were going through your phase just maybe, you were throwing your punches at the wrong guy?” and Eddie replied with, “Seriously, you’re going to make this about you again?” it illustrated how Eddie figured out that Buck was making everything about himself again instead of thinking about how the lawsuit had affected all three of them.
Tumblr media
Buck continued and said, “Come on, you were pretty pissed. That day in the grocery store, I thought you were going to take a swing at me”.  Eddie glanced in the living room to check on Christopher and then responded to Buck by saying, “You didn’t deserve it. I wouldn’t do that, you’re on blood thinners”.  While he was talking, Eddie looked at Buck’s body from bottom to top like he always does.
Tumblr media
Buck kept facing Eddie and he remained stationary by sitting on the island until he was ready to change the direction of their conversation.  He responded to Eddie’s statement and said, “I could still take you” and Eddie replied, “You think so?” and Buck said, “I know”.  That’s when Buck started preparing to introduce Eddie to Buck 1.0.
Tumblr media
As Buck stood up and started walking towards Eddie, his body language was saying, ‘Let me introduce myself to you. I’m Buck 1.0 and this is your first time meeting me’. His eyes locked with Eddie’s as they had one of their silent conversations and Buck put his hand on top of his belt buckle.  His final move was to stand right next to Eddie and ask him, “You want to go for the title?”. According to body language experts, a man places his hand on his belt buckle to draw attention to that part of his body.  Eddie’s body language remained completely open for the duration of their conversation. He nodded his head at the end as he sipped his beer to illustrate that he and Buck were on the same page.  Eddie didn’t get a chance to meet Buck 1.0 because Buck had upgraded to the 2.0 version of himself during season 1 when he started dating girlfriend #1.  He told Maddie and Chimney in 2x8 “Buck Actually” that being Buck 2.0 sucked and when he upgraded in 4x6 “Jinx” to Buck 3.0, Eddie said, “Still not sure what inspired the software update”.  That was Eddie’s first-time seeing Buck as the 1.0 version of himself but the important thing to remember is Buck reverted to that version strictly for Eddie’s eyes only.  He was showing Eddie how smooth and confident he can be so that they could repair their personal relationship.  Buck didn’t start sleeping around again like he had done in the early part of season 1 or in the middle of season 2 after he had finally stopped waiting around for girlfriend #1 to return.  That night, Buck reverted back to Buck 1.0 solely for Eddie’s benefit.
Tumblr media
3x10 “Christmas Spirit” The way Eddie looked at Buck after that night in the kitchen changed from soft heart eye glances to something more intense.  While Buck, Hen and Denny were at Eddie’s house, Eddie kept his eyes on Buck the majority of the time during his conversations with Hen.  He couldn’t keep his eyes off of Buck while he sat on the floor building gingerbread houses with Christopher and Denny.  Reminder Christopher was sitting to Eddie’s left and Buck was in the middle; therefore Eddie’s eyes were focused on Buck because he was looking straight ahead instead of to his left. The way Eddie started looking at Buck had changed and it happened right after the kitchen scene; therefore something happened between them that night which caused Eddie’s heart eyes to become more intense.  Maybe the audience will find out what happened after they become a CANON couple.
Buck and Eddie’s relationship became even stronger after the kitchen scene and they were inseparable for the remainder of season 3. Since they are both single again, will season 6 include a 2.0 version of the kitchen scene while they are in Eddie’s kitchen?  Only the showrunners, writers and producers know the answer to that question.

who: @mari-zuko where: the main lodge when: second day of the trip, late afternoon
while parker’s first day at the blanc mountains chalet resort was spent unpacking and generally settling into the place, she’d made sure that her second was a bit more action-packed. that morning she’d hurried into her ski gear, eager to hit the slopes. sure, she wasn’t the most advanced skier or snowboarder out there by a mile, but she enjoyed the rush—the singular focus on the trip down.
the only thing she enjoyed more? the après-ski. with the convenience of the whole ski-in-ski-out model, parker had easily been able to return back to her room, switching out of her ski suit and into a fair isle turtleneck and some clean ski pants. perhaps that ruined the whole point of effortlessly transitioning from one activity into the other, but sue the girl for wanting washed hair for the rest of the day. especially if she was going to seek out a few people.
cheeks still flushed—be it from the cold outdoors or steaming shower—parker made her way to the main lodge, glühwein already in hand. and, to her delight, across the way was one mari zuko. safe to say, walking into a room with absolutely zero plans to meet up with anyone was made tremendously easier when you spotted someone you wanted to be around; and, since their night out a few weeks back, parker did want to be around mari more. it was like they shared a secret language, now, knowing something about the other that others didn’t. she figured mari felt it, too, what with the few little smiles they’d exchanged in passing since. so, once she neared, parker informally occupied the seat next to the brunette, instantly leaning in as though to share a secret. “please tell me you haven’t already started doing shotskis without me. i need an alcohol blanket to warm me up.”
