“Oh by the way, the women are always saving the men around here.” - Raven
uhhhhh excuse me, my boy Quicksilver has been saving more people then you girl in ALL THREE of the movies. And more than Jean too. So what Jean blew away Apocalypse because apparently she was borne with the phoenix power when in reality she gets that power boost from the rocket but Fox seems determined to make Jean OP as possible for some reason.
Quicksilver is ALWAYs saving people okay so X-Men is fitting.

Serious question.
Do you think we’ll see the parents/family of each of the guys???
Like, We’ve been TEASED with Ace’s brother, that I’m starting to think it’s just a reference to that Alice in Wonderland park character in Japan and nothing else….
Jack’s family, Ruggie’s grandma, Falena, Maleficia, Ms.Rosehearts, Just now Vil’s dad is in the picture which I am really happy but now I’m wondering about his mom, and so Deuce’s mom.
I mean, some HAVE a silhouette!! It could mean they do have a design in the making/ready to show. They could’ve shown us Falena in the Tamashina (hope I said that correctly) event, but didn’t (prolly to make Leona not so σ(▼□▼メ) and it’s understandable)
Anyhow, any idea/headcannon about this? Who do you want to see first?
I'm wondering if everyone might eventually get a travel event? like they've now introduced with Vil's that it doesn't have to be specifically hometowns, so that opens things up a lot! (especially if they have to figure out how to do three separate Coral Sea visits) (how would that even work otherwise)
but yeah, I hope everyone gets a chance! there's a lot of backstory characters I would LOVE to meet. :D :D :D though I do think some of them don't really suit the more light-hearted tone of the events (pretty sure you're right about that being why Falena wasn't in Tamashina-Mina, that would've just been. too much for Leona.) so like...we're probably not ever going to meet the Rosehearts. or Maleficia (although I maintain that this would be THE funniest possible way to introduce her outside of the main story, and actually I would love this a lot, can we please Twst) (I need to see her to put Malleus in a froofy little outfit and tell him what a handsome boy he is). but they've sprung surprises like Kifaji on us, and honestly anyone who shows up and tells embarrassing stories about characters' childhoods is good in my book!
characters off the top of my head who I most want to meet: literally any of the Zigvolts, Azul's mom, Ace's brother, Che'nya's grandfather (<- I think he would be a good one for Riddle) (please just any non-terrible adult in his life), any member of Rook's family because I need to see how they managed to produce him, and...really just whoever they can come up with for Silver.

Sometimes I just want to abandon everything and
Move to the empty town to live with a cute artsy boyfriend and his brothers helping them murder people and makinf art
OR
Take a job as a nanny in a remote part of a country to take care and love an adorable manchild living in the walls
OR
Go camping to the Lake and stay there forever in the cabin with the huge teddy bear of a husband (who sometimes murders people, but it's not important)

So how do you feel about Alina's character?
My feelings for her are complicated at best, anon.
And only lately I realized that I'm more in love with the potential she had rather than her canon self.
In the beginning, I liked her because I found her a mood. Her humour and attitude were entertaining to me. But as the months passed I realized that her main personality traits do not fit in this fictional world.
She's irresponsible, immature (and nobody start the "she was a child/teenager" bullshit to me. She was a legal adult by the Grishaverse standards and you would expect someone that had a rough childhood mature faster), selfish and lacks common sense and empathy. If she were a side character these characteristics wouldn't bother me but alas she's the main character. The girl that both the Ravkans and the readers expected to bring positive change and balance with her efforts by the end of the trilogy.
And guess what? Nothing of that happened.
I have one question for Leigh Bardugo.
If you wanted to show how not all girls want crowns, then why did you pick the main character that everybody depends on to show it??
We have wars, a genocide, hate, corruption and imbalance plaguing the main kingdom of this story and for two books straight the author had the readers and the character herself believe that she'll change everything. But not only didn't any kind of change happened, but the main character herself didn't change LMAO.
Alina had no character development and when a main character doesn't have that, then the story itself can't develop. Leigh stripped her of her powers and made her go and marry Mal while the main problems still reigned.
So my feelings for the potential she had? A girl that turned her weaknesses into strength and decided to find courage inside herself instead of depending on her toxic "friend". A woman that embraces both her light and her darkness and decides to protect her people no matter what, even if she has to sacrifice her own happiness. Now that character I love and stan.
My feelings for her canon self? I feel sorry for her mostly. She deserved a better author that would allow her to develop and not take away a huge chunk of her soul. People say "Oh but she deserved happiness". Well, aside from the fact that her ending was NOT happy, when you create a world that is full of problems you can't expect to keep your MC happy AND the rest of the Ravkans happy.
Take Daenerys for example. Is she happy? No. Did she still sacrifice everything to fight slavery and keep her children safe and free? Yes. And that made her a very sympathetic character to the rest of us that has read her story.
Because it's not about "the main character deserves happiness" but "the main character needs to do the job she was assigned to do, no matter what". Main characters exist to get the job done (whether that is to free slaves, rule a country or kill the bad guy) and Alina did nothing.

one thing that’s been on my mind a lot recently is the fact that ianthe is reusing the old third house lyctor’s rooms… like did she just choose to do that because the old rooms were shiny and full of sexy portraits, etc., or was the mithraeum just a one-set-of-living-quarters-per-house-no-guest-bedrooms-sorry situation? if the latter, literally what was john going to do if the house heirs all ascended at canaan house like he wanted them to? the main reason this has been on my mind a lot recently is that i’ve been unable to shake a series of cursed thoughts about a universe in which things go according to god’s plan and silas and mercy are forced to become the world’s most dysfunctional pair of roommates, thus in turn forcing all the other newly-ascended house heirs to live with the fallout of this godawful situation constantly spilling all over the mithraeum common areas, which—even setting ASIDE the whole ‘experiencing paralyzing guilt and grief over their dead cavaliers’ thing that they’d also be dealing with!—is possibly an even worse outcome for them than the one from the canon timeline where they all just fucking died violently lmao

We still have this little critter, and she has successfully healed from her spay.
She rejected her homemade cone of shame (rolled up soccer socks courtesy of J) so we got her a proper baby shirt. It’s shocking we got her into it, and that she tolerated it as well as she did. She may be a shit, but she’s a good kid at heart. Maybe because she’s so stinkin’ cute.
It is probably wishful thinking, but her manners seem to be getting better. She still hasn’t been formally introduced to Zelda, but we can already tell she’s a little bully, so keep your fingers crossed because it would kinda suck to rehome her.
(It’s doubly hilarious because I’m the “no more cats can’t deal argh!” sort and this lil shit just HAD to choose OUR yard as the place to hang out in.)
Mammals are so utterly frustrating!

Cassandra might be a little shit but she actually respects Bela. In this regard, it's actually Daniela who's a little shit because she often argues with Bela and thinks that rules don’t apply to her.
Like, Cassandra would wait for Bela. She would stop and wait for her big sister and just... Really does respects her and it's just so clear.
Daniela doesn't really do that. She argues with Bela and even when she got Ethan- Cassandra would wait for Bela because she gets to decide what to do to him. But Daniela? Doesn't do any of that. She was just eating him having the catch for herself, she is absolutely not going to call her big sister any time soon.

steven moffat has a lot to answer for in his poor writing of women but his worst crime is what he did to river song
he took a very cool and interesting woman with an unexplored plotline that had limitless potential and turned her into another of his two-dimensional sexy-woman-who-could-shoot-you archetypes. her plotline also falls victim one of his repeated attempts to craft an exciting mystery with a plot twist which ended up being needlessly convoluted and somehow condescending almost, by neglecting to give river her own meaningful journey and centring her existence around creating puzzles for the doctor to solve
