realizing i have. a lot of untapped trauma potential for clone^2 danny because i just Fully Processed Four Months Late the fact that his parents were capturing and torturing ghosts in the basement before he became Phantom. and the fact that he was on house rest for 2 weeks. during that time period. and he wasn't really leaving the house. he could hear their screaming through the floorboards
*points at clone danny* i can give you suuuuuuch a bad time babe ahaha. i've got two untouched years before you meet damian what fucks you up before then
More on this panel, I think it's interesting how often Megatron uses "you" when making declarative statements. I'm not sure what else he'd do here where his tone is meant to be accusatory to Orion specifically, but we see him do this with Prowl as well. I feel like his focus on the individual over the collective, at least in the way he speaks, is notable. Even when he is called "miner trash" by Prowl, when he lashes out and attacks, the retort Megatron gives is strictly in his own defense.
if you go back and look at The Scene in e6 , when crowley says “ you idiot , we could have been us “ aziraphale turns away from him . now , i have an evaluation for this ( because of course i do ) . aziraphale physically turns away from crowley twice that we see ( i’m pretty sure ) . once , by the duck pond when crowley requests the holy water . and the second time in the bentley when aziraphale told crowley he goes too fast . so i think the subtlety of aziraphale turning away a third time is a BIG prompter for crowley to kiss him in the first place . because he’s seen this film before ( and he didn’t like the ending ) . maybe , just maybe if he actually does something this time things could be different .
I wish I could’ve asked the writers of idw2 about the background story they had written for soundwave.
Because it seems like they had something pretty clear in mind that they wanted to delve into. And from the looks of things it could’ve been a rather interesting background story.
i love the how the artist was able to make him so expressive
I can only imagine that it would’ve given some much needed depth to Soundwave’s character. Also would’ve been nice to finally see him get a proper origin story which I don’t think he really got in idw1
(the fact he starts out with no memories of his origins and no resolution still bothers me)
But I admittedly have a lot more issues with idw2, (mostly the repetition of words and sentences) yet surprisingly from what I did read in regards to soundwave I didn't have any major issues with his portrayal. (y'know aside from his yellow visor and job position)
from what we did see of him he behaved coherently and according to his character. His little issues with starscream added some fun drama and made him a bit more relatable.
And then throughout the comics there are hints to soundwave having what seems to be a complicated past involving both soundblaster and sixshot? Which points towards it being a mercenary group of some kind.
And we never saw him in any of the flashbacks of the war against the Three fold spark, despite it being the perfect place for soundwave to become acquainted with megatron. but no, there's no explanation for how they met but there is a lot of megatron giving soundwave both orders and almost mentor like advice.
Its always a shame to see a continuity go dead when it had just started but I can’t say i’ll mourn anything else from it that isn’t soundwave. which says a lot.
RIP idw2 tf continuity, atleast you gave us a nice little story in the shattered glass comics you made before you lost the license.
Though now that the new license holder is image comics, I look forward to seeing what they’re gonna do with it. And if they’ll learn anything from the previous continuities.
WHAT was happening to that Ghost in the trailer where it was being pulled apart into sections WHAT IS THAT
No clue, I am afraid. That has to be one of the creepiest things I've seen so far.
I'm pretty sure it's tied to the scene where the Witness is shown going through the beam and makes some sort of a hand motion:
Which then immediately cuts to the scene of the slicening:
Note that in the footage, you can also see the Guardian getting sliced. Hard to see in the image, but in the footage, if you look at the helmet, you can see it also being sliced apart. Also the Ghost is fine at the start and then suddenly shuts down and THEN gets sliced in a really terrifying display of slow and methodical motion which adds to the creepy factor:
Allowing the Guardian time to look and see this happen to their Ghost... What the fuck.
most recent story development in my brain: ive decided to actually seperate taffy and coco during the timeskip
initially i had it that taffy sticks with coco because he has nowhere to go and they eventually get together over the timeskip. the new version is that he runs away and disappears right before mochi leaves
in my head i see him as the type to run away after what mochi and coco do for him-- after coco put in so much effort and time advocating for him because she saw that there were traces of a good person under his antagonistic nature, and after mochi beat his ass for the final time and finally cleared his curse, he doesnt know what to do with himself.
the rest of the guild at that point (mochi included) has an attitude of "We know why you were the way you were. Now that there's no reason for you to hate us, you're free to go where you want. You can even stay with us." and this sentiment eats him alive. the guilt he feels is insane. the fact that he spent months (years?) trying to ruin mochi, brewing in bitterness and rage and all of a sudden all of that is gone and replaced with forgiveness and warmth is unbearable and he cant stand it, so he leaves.
this is all coupled with his feelings for coco and the attitude on his end of "I don't deserve this. I don't deserve her. All I can do is bring them down. All I can do is bring her down. I have no right to stay here. I have no right to want to stay here."
so theres a pivotal scene in my head where he has all these thoughts, standing right outside the side door to mochis house hearing them all chattering inside, and has a long moment of hesitation before going inside. in the OLD version coco opens the door before he can make up his mind and forces him inside with the rest of them, but in the NEW version i think its much more taffy-like if hes gone by the time she notices and gets to the door
(tldr timeline: mochi removes his curse -> he disappears -> he only appears for the last amanita fight because really thats HIS fight as much as it is mochis -> he leaves again RIGHT after. i imagine coco tried to stop him or say goodbye but this man is notoriously good at escaping quickly)
and so timeskip-wise coco attends university on her own. she keeps in touch with oscar and lime (more oscar than lime) and while she never directly set out to look for taffy, there was always that desire to look for him in a crowd or something, maybe hoping to run into him at random or that he would show up out of nowhere like he did the first time.
I'm not totally sure what he does during the timeskip then. something far away from coco and the guild, but somewhere close to the ocean because he could never find it in him to stray too far from it for too long. maybe lost his touch with water magic a bit because he was too afraid and guilt-ridden to use it. never really stopped thinking about coco but couldnt muster up the courage to go find her again. for YEARS hes convinced that she doesnt want to see him and he wouldnt do anything to make her life better. hes done too much to all of them for them to ever accept him, he thinks.
until one day coco just. shows up. after tracking him down (with mochi and sulluvans help). sitting on a barrel at the docks he works at in some city somewhere, eating some cotton candy she bought at the docks like "Heyo! Mochi needs another guild member, and you kinda owe us one, soooo..."
ik the anatomy is kinda off but at this point i'm just glad i managed to finish this drawing bc it's been sitting in my wips for a while haha. but yeah!! this was one of my fav moments in crimes so i just had to draw it!! can't wait to see these fools again in book two!! (☆▽☆)
timelapse below the cut bc i feel like sharing + rambly artist commentary(?):
idk if it's obvious from the timelapse but the bg and other dancers were last-minute additions lol. initially it was supposed to be just trystan and noel (which is why i did the lineart right after sketching them) and a simple painted bg but just as i was about to colour it kinda struck me as a bit,, bland? so i quickly sketched out the bg they used in the scene (as close as i could anyway, i wasn't about to make it that detailed when i'm gonna gaussian blur it after anyway lmao)
the dancers were the same, i made them faceless and bland so they don't stand out too much (e.g. me changing the blond guy's suit from cream to grey) i did put a little more effort into the dress of the redhead in the far back bc she's supposed to be olivia nevrakis,, i wanted to add her in since she was a pretty integral part of the chapter without making her too pronounced hsdjlkk i drew the red flower and lace details on her dress and everything, it's a shame all of that isn't really visible in the final product but again— gaussian blur'd (also very tiny). in hindsight maybe i should've drawn her closer to the screen or smth but this is about trystan and noel so!!! whatever lol
there are a lot of things i'd change if i ever redraw this (or maybe just the bg) but that's a problem for future me to decide to do or not do (×_×)
