i just know this f*cker called the police on his own establishment in order to test out the claims of the 'five minutes no evidence' pitch. i just know that's what this f*cker did and now he's lounging on the edge of one of the file cabinets keeping time. bitch

White female cops are worse than the male white cops sometimes. I was pulled over for a minor traffic violation something simple as I didn’t put my new registration sticker on my license plate, but I had my new registration and sticker in the car. I explained to her because of the temperature the sticker wasn’t going to stick (lady at dmv said if the temperature outside wasn’t at least 33 degrees it wouldn’t stick) I never raised my voice and showed her everything that she needed to see registration, insurance, license. She ran my name cause why not I’m black I must have warrants 😁came back with nothing and me being the sarcastic savant I am say to her “now that was a waste of time wasn’t it” 🤫 should have just kept my mouth shut 🤐 right after I said that she says something to the effect of “so, you think this is funny?” and I said yes and she said “oh really” and I said “yeah really” then she asks me “do you mind if I search your car?” and I politely declined 😌. Then she hits me with the typical response “if you don’t have anything in the car then you don’t have anything to worry about”🥱 I politely decline again and ask “am I free to go?” She comes back with “your being detained until another unit gets here”😑. New officer arrives I’m still sitting in my car he approaches her 👮🏻 and I hear her say I was acting “weird” he walks up to my car and the same old script “how you doing tonight sir?” And I’m like “good” then out of nowhere he’s like “I know you don’t I ?” I look at his face and I’m like “Doug?” And he said “yeah!” Turns out me and this officer went to high school together, we weren’t close friends but we were cool hung out a few times he used to hang out with one of my buddies. So we chit chatting talking about classmates and catching up, so I’m like this is cool and shit catching up, but what’s up man can I go, and what’s up with her why she acting like that she didn’t even have to call for another officer, this dude tells me that she is racist and she thinks she’s the best female officer 👮🏻 on the street and that even if it’s minor stuff she’s running names and doing vehicle tosses. He also told me that some people don’t know they can decline a car search and she knows that, but when you do, like you did she’ll call for another unit to back her up so she can do a car search. He also said he hates backing her up cause he knows 7 times out of 10 that it’s something like this and her excuse every time is someone was acting “weird” and that’s code for I didn’t get my way to search their car and arrest another black person. He also told me that there’s a group of white female officers 👮🏻 👮🏻👮🏻👮🏻👮🏻that like only to go to black neighborhoods and fuck with them when they get certain calls just a reason to be more aggressive🤯😳 and I’m like woooow, but not at all surprised. So he sends me on my way and I can see her face when I pass, that bitch was mad mad 😡 and I was 🤣. So y’all be careful with these white female cops or cops in general not every story is going to end like mine.

a few days ago i went on a ride along with two police officers, as extra credit for my criminal justice class. i never liked cops but i saw this as an opportunity to change my perspective on the issue. after the ride along though….. i realized……
i was absolutely correct. cops are terrible. they do not care about people at all. you should not trust them ever.
i don’t think citizens have an automatic obligation to trust or respect police. i think that police have a RESPONSIBILITY to prove their trustworthiness and then citizens can respect them. until then, fuck em.

#meg talks#KSZGSJDH sorry this one is petty but#baffles me when ppl say the rcm is not quite as bad as irl cops like…#i feel like that’s not the intended takeaway at all#didn’t elysium start out as a ttrpg about precinct 41 where they played the cops as comically corrupt and horrible as possible? 😭#harry himself has a history of horrific police brutality#kim talks abt how officers are corrupt and take bribes and are hostile to misconduct investigations to protect their own#even (and especially) in the context of using deadly force#not to mention how the hardie boys/union have basically become cops in everything but name#and the claires are massively corrupt#like the only real difference is the rcm’s lack of funding and its origins#but even re: the post-revolution origins… kim admits that it’s EXTREMELY ambiguous#whether the rcm was started to protect the citizens of revachol from the coalition as an assertion of independence#or whether it was really a hollow gesture to placate the citizens and the rcm has really served the coalition the whole time#and if u say u believe that the rcm is the revolutionaries’ legacy even kim will be like lol. well you can be sentimental if u want#and either way the fact remains that NOW they’re just another arm of the coalition regardless of how they started#like… i dunno man. i feel like the game makes the point p clearly that a cop is a cop#even a labor union can become a police force bc it’s about the act of policing more than anything#and even with what kim says about how rcm officers have to be men of many hats#and include things like social work in their jobs… i mean…#social workers and psychiatry are already part of the carceral police state irl 💀 that’s not all that different#and also like can u imagine KIM handling social work? let alone any of the other assholes at 41? 😭#the rcm’s station call system may be better as well than what we have irl but like. u know. reform vs abolition etc#idk man. i just can’t get behind the idea that the rcm being better than irl police forces by the slimmest of margins#and more due to lack of resources than principles#means much of anything 💀 a cop is a cop#anyway. watever…

Patrick Magee works to apprehend the villains as Parsons, the head of airport security in Dial 999: The Great Gold Robbery (1.4, ABC, 1958)
#patrick magee#fave spotting#dial 999#the great gold robbery#1958#classic tv#abc#ok my fave spottings may be wandering away from stars of old brit tv who i know mutuals will get a kick from#but Pat has long been a favourite of mine#this was first ever screen credit (he'd had an uncredited appearance as a police officer in 1956 film The Green Man) but he was already an#experienced stage actor‚ had worked with Harold Pinter and Samuel Beckett‚ and was beginning to be noticed for his work on stage and#radio (that incredible voice would serve him well throughout his career; a few months after this aired he'd be performing in the original#production of Krapp's Last Tape‚ written specifically for him by Beckett because of his voice)#he doesn't have much to do here except provide a little exposition and help to round up the baddies but it's fun to see him so#comparatively young and energetic. the airport in question is presumably Heathrow; it isn't stated in dialogue (and Heathrow was just#London Airport until 1966) but as Gatwick had only just opened when this aired‚ and as it is clearly set in London's inner city‚ it seems#the logical candidate. this ep has good horror pedigree‚ with Magee guesting and being directed by Hammer's Terence Fisher#Fisher made 8 episodes of Dial 999‚ his last work for television (the huge commercial success of the same year's Dracula would#keep him in cinemas for the rest of his life). this episode is also the second in a row (on network's weirdly ordered set anyway; there#this is something like ep 8 or 9 not 4) to feature an uncredited Edwin Apps as a forensic technician who appears to specialise entirely in#hats. like his whole part in both episodes is to examine a hat and provide enough clues to solve the case#hat squad!#that should have been a spin off

In The Line of Duty
This morning, is different. After yesterday, nothing will ever be the same. Yesterday, will be forever remembered as a very tragically sad, horrific, heartbreaking day. Yesterday, in Charlotte North Carolina, four law enforcement officers were killed and four injured in the line of duty. One of the injured is fighting for his life. One of the dead is a deputy US marshal, the others were local…

The Italian restaurant in my mom’s hometown WAS definitely a mob front. The owner briefly served in the Italian military, immigrated to America in his twenties back in the early 70s, mysteriously had enough money to open a chain of Italian restaurants and was convicted for trafficking cocaine across the Virginia/West Virginia area and spent 15 years in prison.
My mom had worked as a waitress at the place while she was a teenager and throughout her 20s and she realized that when she was sent to the restaurant’s sister location in West Virginia in a mysteriously packed car by her mysteriously nice boss, it probably wasn’t pizza ingredients she was hauling. It was the 80s. She was a tiny, very naive, conventionally attractive church girl with no criminal record so she was the perfect unwitting drug mule.
The thing was, this restaurant and the man who operated it were locally loved. Beyond large scale organized cocaine trafficking, food was his other passion. Everyone waited anxiously for him to get out of prison and when he did this guy started a crusade against the corrupt local sheriff’s office. He started doing anti-police brutality advocacy work WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Donating to local families who had been victims and participating in local drives and awareness campaigns.
Made men usually do local charity work but the balls on this guy to take up sword and spear against shitty corrupt ineffectual law enforcement. Incredible. One thing about Appalachians is that we hate the cops and we love social agitators. This guy lived a long eventful life and died recently of natural causes and the overwhelming outpouring of love for him on Facebook was incredible, a uniting force that the town had not seen in decades, everybody was sharing their favorite stories about him and I’m sure local law enforcement was fuming.

"Evader's Pals Attack Mountie," Windsor Star. February 15, 1943. Page 7. --- Friends of Draft Dodger Leave Constable Unconscious ---- QUEBEC, Feb. 15. - Inspector Noel Courtois, chief of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment here, said last night that Constable Gordon Coutu was beaten Saturday and left unconscious in a snowdrift by friends of a youth who had earlier resisted the constable's attempt to arrest him for draft notice evasion.
Inspector Courtois said the constable was treated by the draftee's father and later taken to a Quebec hospital where his condition was given last night as "satisfactory."
The R.C.M.P. official said that court action would probably be taken against the draftee for failing to report for military service and against his friends for assaulting the constable.
Inspector Courtois said Constable Coutu had gone to nearby St. Lambert de Levis to take the 21-year-old youth into custody after he had failed to respond to his draft notice.

i'm sorry.. what?
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Municipal Court is resuming evictions as early as Monday, saying landlord tenant officers have now received training on use of force and de-escalation tactics.
landlord.. tenant.. officers?
"Though the sheriff has the power to serve evictions, the task is usually handled by a private force hired by a court-appointed attorney known as the landlord-tenant officer. These private security contractors — who are often armed — have long been a part of the local eviction system."
so landlords have their own private military? this is class warfare
This follows the court suspending all evictions in July after multiple tenants were shot during evictions over the past several months. In one incident in March, a plainclothes landlord tenant officer shot a woman in the head. In another incident in July, police said a woman was shot in the leg. A spokesperson for the court's Landlord and Tenant Office said evictions will now be conducted in teams of two officers who have all received Pennsylvania Constable training.
this is LITERALLY class warfare
The LTO is funded by service fees from landlords and not taxpayer money. Fees to landlords will increase from $145 to $350 to cover the additional staff, training and insurance costs.
and who the fuck do you think is going to end up ultimately paying those fees in the end? where do you think the landlords are going to get the money? you're just giving them an excuse to raise the rent. oh my god this country is a complete and total failed state.
