Exaggerated relief map of East-Central Europe.
It's so cosy living in the Pannonian Plain, protected from the World by mountains and seas on all sides.

Dumb question, so I know many (all?) Slavic surnames are gendered, but is that just traditionally in home countries?
Or would a brother and sister in America just go by the same last name in school, like for registration, yearbooks, attendance, etc?
Or would it still be gendered?
Asking because history has shown many cases of people changing their last names (and first names) to better "fit" (umbrella for all the reasons) in a new country, but I can't find any info on this for Slavic names.
Thank youuuu
