just discovered a new favorite fidget item?? and honestly i didn’t expect it to be one, but it’s great. BEANIE BABIES.
some of the animal ones have whiskers to smooth out. they have beads on the inside to shuffle around and into the limbs. stuffing in the head to squish. bead eyes to tap on hard surfaces for a amusing click. tails to pull on, twist, or wrap around a finger. there are so many things to fidget with when it comes to beanie babies. i’m astounded.

The fun Grey Area of buying offbrand fast fashion and fast-adjacent fashion, but then wearing it for years because you bought it for Broke reasons or Style I Love On Sale reasons.
Like... yeah, I do have some athletic wear and socks from Costco, some shirts from Hot Topic, even some blouses I bought from H&M before I learned how damaging it is.
But most of them are machine-washable cotton so I can wear them for uhhhhh [checks] I've still got Patagonia shirts from fifteen years ago, so I'll be wearing them that long if they don't fall apart from Lesser Quality and Rough Use
(Obviously, Patagonia is intended to last much longer than the general cheap-ish brands I'm talking about, but I needed an example of a known brand I've definitely had for that long to use as an example of how long I'd keep a shirt once I get it. There are others that I've had for a while but can't actually remember when I got them, like the Tinkerbell shirt.)
(I also do have some of my mom's blouses from the late 90s/early aughts so. I clearly don't care overly much about things going out of fashion.)
Like... I could do better than I am, but at least I'm doing better than the average?

A squishy-squashy raccoon toy filled with jelly orbs by Infantino. Bought at a clearance price from Smyths in January 2023, after a friend and I spent a reasonable length of time just standing there and squishing a bunch of them...

I don't know who needs to hear this but if your clothes are too big or too small and causing you discomfort or sensory issues for any reason you deserve ones that will make you more comfortable. U don't have to tough it out. U deserve to be comfy.

Idea that Mike sees something that he things will have a good texture and just touches it
Like a random shirt at a mall, or a cup that’s disregarded on a table
And when it’s a horrid feeling he’ll be like “oh shit nope that not good.”
THIS ASK IS SOO CUTE!! i definitely think mike has a tendency to wanna sensory seek sometimes, but also I feel like it's something he masks a lot of the time because to most people, it would look weird. he usually will brush things with the tips of his fingers or even wanna smell things or just,,,pet things, but then he misjudges something and touches it and the texture is horrible and he gags out loud and immediately starts wiping his hands on hjs pants with all the regret in the world 😭 I think that's also something that tends to discourage him from sensory seeking, cuz he really doesn't like bad textures and gets really bad feelings about certain unfamiliar textures , so when he sees something he thinks he wants to touch, hes just like "well what if its bad......"

The irony of stores selling "stim toys" or "sensory toys" and then blasting pop music really loudly and having bright, fluorescent lights, or even flashing lights...Really seems they think "stim/sensory" means "'satisfying' to watch on the video app du jour" and not what it actually means.

boots theory of economics except for energy levels ie. the way i have to drag myself through a place where food can be purchased multiple times a week because each time i only have the energy and brain power to grab a handful of small items

i don't understand this hatred against minimalism on this website, i mean i get that rich people having huge white rooms with white furniture and one single decoration is annoying, but why is the answer to that to praise rooms that are decorated in a horror vacui way, don't you guys get sensory overloads
