The fact that Crowley believes so purely in Aziraphale's goodness and forgiveness...
Knowing full well how seething this made him inside, he merely smiled kindly and said nothing, because Crowley knows how divinely unselfish and good Aziraphale is.
Because since the Beginning, Aziraphale accepted him, never thought he was evil or dangerous or Bad just because he was a demon now. Aziraphale put his wing over him, talked to him as an equal, and listened to him, despite what he was, because Aziraphale is that unselfish and that good and that much a well of kindness.
That's why he was so afraid for Aziraphale's life, so protective and desperate this season to save him, why he's always so happy to rescue his angel... because he knows Aziraphale won't do it for himself, because Aziraphale is not about self-preservation.
He's about doing the Right thing, no matter its costs. His angel would walk into Hell because he did a good thing. He would appeal to Heaven and God before running away at the end of the world, because it's the only course of action where everyone could be saved, the right thing to do.
That's why Crowley is terrified this season, because they aren't anymore hiding out from Head Office, they are actively on the run every day of their lives, waiting for the day the shoe dropped and Heaven and Hell decide to team up and wage war on the earth (and them).
That's why he's so destroyed by Aziraphale choosing to go back to Heaven, because he knows all too well how much his angel's kindness and willingness to see the good in something can warp the angel's perspective and his safety. And yet he knows that's exactly what Aziraphale would do, because that's the Aziraphale he fell in love with, the one who would look Gabriel in the face with a kind smile and say, "May we meet on a better occasion." The Aziraphale who, with the same generous unselfish act, break his heart in a million pieces.

i said this in the tags already, but — i think being a father really, really terrified bakugou. whether he knew he wanted kids or not, the finality in the fact that he was bringing a tiny human into the world to mold and shape is like ajfeuehwkq because he has his issues and his problems and his sensitivities and his traumas and he knows all about them, had them for a while. how that impacts you, i think even after your lil baby was born, he was still working on that. it's probably something he'll have to work on for the rest of his life, the way he copes and deals with his humanness.
but now he's got a teeny baby ? 🥺 one that will watch his every move ? 🥺 one that will learn from him, whether katsuki wants him to or not ? 🥺 you're an adult and the way in which katsuki affects you can be resolved a little easier, because you're a fully developed person, but a baby ?? oh god, i think he was fucking terrified LOL of course happy, ultimately, but this was something that was going to completely alter the course of his life from then on.
and having a baby is hard !! they get sick and scream and cry and it's exhausting, trying to keep up with them !! you come second, especially when a baby is so young, and that is a big change !! coupled with the fact that he's a top hero with responsibilities he can't ignore; there were many, many times when he had to go, you know ? a child couldn't take precedent over his career, even if he wanted it to and — i don't think he wanted it to ? i don't mean this as a negative, but i think there was (keyword: was) a time when he preferred being out on patrol, taking down criminals and working himself to the bone, instead of facing this monumental, inescapable change in his life.
being a hero is all he knows, it's something he's done for so long, and he doesn't know shit about babies !! and i don't mean this to say he totally abandoned you, but he wasn't always home and it's hard enough !! and you had to do a big chunk of it alone 🥺 and it's hard not to get resentful about that 🥺 you're both tired and frustrated and having to adapt and i think it was easy to fight and get distant.
it didn't happen right away, but i do think it was sudden, when it did. you probably asked him not to go to work at times — which was a hard thing to do — and he had to walk out that door and live with himself — which was even harder. i think you wanted time away because you were angry, and then the fight about the house began; he wanted you and the baby to stay, but you didn't want to sit there anymore without him; what the fuck was katsuki going to do with a four bedroom house by himself? it was a mess.
i think you were probably living separately for about a month or two — which put a larger strain on your relationship — before you requested the divorce. because it just wasn't working and i think you were hurt and katsuki was trying but wasn't communicating, which hurt more, and it just kind of imploded. and katsuki was like ABSOLUTELY. NOT — which only started another fight LOL
would not sign anything. would not even talk about it. wouldn't entertain the thought. he's angry because you're angry, he's yelling because you're yelling, your baby is crying and you're fighting over who is going to change him, where he's going to sleep for the night; why would he go with katsuki, when he can never stay home long enough to take care of him ? but if you want him to be around s'damn bad, why are you trying to keep him away ? it was a MESS.
it takes his dad talking to him to figure out what to do, as heart-breaking as that is. has to tell him that time apart might be what's best for the both of you, that holding on too tight might cause more pain than he realizes. it seems like the end, but — it doesn't have to be. you have the rest of your son's life, at least, to understand what you really want from each other, and it was better to preserve that in the safest way possible than to cause irreparable damage.
he only agrees on the condition that you see each other every week, taking the time to have dinner as a family. custody is a fickle thing and you're both more than happy to figure it out amongst yourselves — which you have, over time. it was finalized quickly, once he stopped resisting. once he decided to place his hope in the future alone.
#not to say it's because you had a baby but LOL#listen. babies are difficult and that's okay#being a parent is hard and that's okay#people aren't suddenly selfless perfect beings the moment they become parents — and that's okay#i don't mean to write it as if he's the awful bad guy in the situation bc that's not how i see it ! he's human !#and he has a lot to overcome as it is !#it was just hard 🥺#harder to keep up with than it was to be apart 🥺#i went off on this again SORRY LOL#my nephew lived with me from the time he was born until about 2ish and it was. not until i started reading restoration and post-restoration plays written by women like aphra behn and susanna centlivre did i fully understand romantic comedy on another level. the male love interests are just built better. like as much as i love a midsummer night's dream, if i were hermia i would never risk death or a forced life in a nunnery for lysander. no. hell no. he's just ken. but if i were miranda would i risk my thirty-thousand-pound inheritance to elope with sir george airy? if i were leticia would i contemplate leaving behind my country and my hated old husband i was tricked into marrying the second i learn that belmour is still alive, to live with his banished ass in exile? hm. let me thin—yes.
#text post#tales from diana#aphra behn#susanna centlivre#the busybody#the lucky chance#i think i enjoyed the men and the relationships in the lucky chance moreso than i did in the rover or the feigned courtesans#(the other two behn plays i've read so far)#i loved her characterizations of the women in both plays of course but i didn't quite feel myself in their situations#it was also quite more reliant on the same character archetypes#the modest one ends up with the selfless lovesick hero and the more innocent libertine one ends up w a reformed dashing rake.#and i'm ok w that right? like those tropes make sense. the plots and the witty dialogue are still enjoyable#but i find the lucky chance really upped the stake of the melodrama as well as the foils between the two main couples were more complex#you have one very melodramatic honest couple (leticia and belmour) who narrowly escape ruinous disaster#and then lawfully make their love official (most luckily BEFORE leticia has slept w fainwould and consummated the marriage)#and then you have the much more complicated and comical relationship between mr. gayman and julia fulbank#lady fulbank's marriage is done and done. no averting it. but she unabashedly carries a torch for him#she admits as much to her husband that she still loves him and she doesn't really care who knows#but she wants to be honorable to her marriage bc that's the lot she's chosen in life—his material comfort#and she does use that to the benefit of gayman when he's in financial ruin.#but her two stupid men. her lover and her husband. more or less work together to make her work against her own honorable wishes#she's compromised. and she SORT of gets what she really wants. she willfully foreswears the bed of her gross husband forever#and it's ambiguous whether or not she chooses to cuck him for gayman while he's still alive or what#very interesting ambiguous ending and i've never seen another character quite like lady fulbank in literature from that time#the lucky chance is worthy of far more study and interest than it's received. it's so funny and incredibly challenging#also. men don't hide in treasure chests enough anymore#more plots where men hide in treasure chests. thank you cymbeline by shakespeare and the lucky chance by behn. you guys got it

Crowley is God.
My name is ******y, and I have a problem.
I’m so addicted to a fandom that I actually have dreams involving two certain characters. (Not THOSE kind of dreams… mostly)
Last night’s dream:
Aziraphale discovered Crowley was God, and everyone’s mind was wiped except the Metatron’s. The Metatron was actually Satan, and had great fun screwing with Crowley all those years.
The Metatron was acting as both God and Satan, except Crowley and Aziraphale always remembered God’s (or Crowley’s) love of humanity, thus thwarting… a lot of thwarting.
The Metatron was not happy and tried to separate them. And this is when the truth was revealed.
When Crowley was God, he wasn’t solo. He was more about collaboration, thus opening himself up to those that were power hungry. The memory wipe started prior to the Fall, gradually making Crowley forget that he WAS the almighty.
Aziraphale knew that Crowley was high up, but when they met before the beginning, the wipe had started for him too. He was pure love and concern for his new friend, and those emotions were free of any lust for power.
When Crowley discovered he was God, he and Aziraphale destroyed the institutions of Heaven and Hell, bringing all celestials back together. He gave up his God status to spend eternity with Aziraphale, and made Muriel the next God.
I’m not sure what that says about my obsession, but I was very happy when I woke up.
