#seeking recommendations

booklr, arise!! i am once again soliciting recs. specifically, i need your Best SFF/Generally-Speculative Books About Revenge (or at least with a Prominent Revenge Subplot). i will also accept Classics™, but they’re on thin ice.
preferably not YA (no shade to YA, but it’s not what i need Material for right now), preferably not a series--i’m looking for self-contained and actualized Revenge Stories. sci-fi or weird preferred to fantasy; magical realism also good. bonus points if it’s vaguely superpower related, more bonus points if it’s also queer.
hit me with your best recs, please!!
(an incomplete list of relevant things i have already read are below the cut!:)
- VICIOUS/VENGEFUL by Schwab (you see what i’m looking for, huh)
- THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO
- SIX OF CROWS/CROOKED KINGDOM by Bardugo
- THE LIES OF LOCKE LAMORA by Lynch
- THE PRINCESS BRIDE by Goldman
- RED RISING by Brown
please note: i am NOT interested in THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO et al. OR anything ~Steamy~, which is what Goodreads keeps giving me
thanks for reading this far, y’all!!

Out of curiosity: does anyone have a recommendation for a really good novel? Something meaty and worthy of close, careful attention? Any and all recommendations are welcome, though I'm particularly interested in authors/works that fall outside the standard canon.

Does anyone have any recommendations for urban fantasy books or series where the love interest is not some super duper hot, confident, put together guy who the heroine is lusting over from the first chapter, and constantly distracted by during major events going forward?
I don't necessarily mind this but I'd just love something with a more awkward, nerdy, fumbling and/or shy love interest that the heroine wants to get to know rather than just jump the first chance she gets. Maybe he even wears glasses!
Bonus points for witches, baking magic, coziness, underground magical societies, mysteries.

oh the pain of looking for a well-made movie/drama that contains:
Sincere romance
Some kind of believable plot
Comedy that is NOT all about second-hand embarrassment
Leads who are believably 30+
Does not end in tragedy
This, friends, is the real unicorn I seek. 😔

Has anyone got mystery book recommendations? I read a lot of romance/mystery, fantasy/mystery, and sci-fi/mystery mashups already (K.J. Charles, Witchmark, Murderbot, etc.), but I’m looking for more plain old regular mystery books. Nothing too grim, please, but other than that I’ll try whatever!
Some stuff I’ve already read or am reading below the cut:
Sherlock Holmes
Perry Mason
Nancy Drew
Inspector Gamache
Kay Scarpetta (I just tried one from this series, it was bordering on too grim for me)
Brother Cadfael

I've read one really good book this year and the rest were average at best.
I can't tell if I'm just after something different as I'm getting older or if I just don't know what I want to read anymore.

I’ve googled a bit for a mod like this but haven’t found something I like, so I’m hoping that maybe someone here might have an idea where I might find a mod or collection of mods to make Enderman behavior match my small friend server’s headcanon lore for them.
The idea goes something like this: in the overworld/nether (so anywhere but the End- they remain unchanged there), if you give an Enderman a block that it's able to place it becomes passive until it has found a spot to place it, even if you look at it. They still respond to aggro if you attack them, but so long as you’re nice to them they will be nice to you. Still allows them to pick up blocks from the world or leave them around like normal, but it allows for small positive interactions with the shy ones who just want to place blocks without judgement. After all, isn’t that what we’re all doing in this game?

Serious question for my followers: Anyone know of a super acrimonious fandom full of active, still current fights over ships, character interpretations, etc? Where people are sending lots of anon hate and accusing people of being IRL horrible people over their ships?
Like, *lots*
I’m serious here. I’m open to suggestions.

If you could write a syllabus to an midlevel English course called "An Introduction to Science Fiction," which books would you include and why?
Try to limit yourself to around twelve books (remember, most semesters are about 15 to 16 weeks, and you need a week for finals, a week for midterms and a week for introductions) and no more than one book by a single author.

I’ve been seeing a lot of middle grade books lately about Atlantis and it’s made me crave YA/Adult books that feature Atlantis. It doesn’t even need to be Atlantis technically, just any sort of hidden city under the sea will do. Anyone have any recommendations?

Hey!
Can you give me any recommendations for friends to lovers with opposite attracts and grumpy × sunshine trope, does this even execite anyway lately I've been reading a lot of ennimies to lovers so I wanna chill ,thank you have a good day.
Hi! I don't have all that many recs for you but check out:
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman - Lovely sweet, slow burn that goes from "person beside me in class" through friends to dating to growing intimacy. It also tackles coming out, mental health struggles, bullying, and similar true-to-life topics, which I loved but if you're looking for laughs and steamy bits, don't pick this up just yet.
People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry - Funny and smart and poignant. Follows two college friends who've always done holidays together, until they stopped, and now they've reconnected for one last vacation. I loved that it's not quite linear and you get to see their friendship developing in flashbacks too.
Love & Other Disasters by Anita Kelly - Probably the most "fun time" and "modern contemporary romance" of my recs here. About two cooking show contestants who're stationed near each other and then romance ensues. Not technically friends-to-lovers because of that but if you want grumpy-sunshine, it's got it in spades.
Thanks for asking! Enjoy! (And followers, add on?)

As we all know tumblr search sucks, so does anyone have any good resources for chronic illness symptom tracking? Apps, spreadsheet templates, dot journals, etc?

Up 0.2 lbs from last week. Not much, but not the direction I am trying to go in. And I can't even blame it on a feeder yet.
Delay in Strength Training
I went to the gym last night to meet with the trainer I have been working with. Only he wasn't there. I asked another staff and was told he was no longer working there.
I hope he's ok.
Last week he had told me he'd had a bit of an accident and hurt himself with it. I was surprised he came into work instead of canceling/rescheduling. So, I suspect his departure might be related to that.
I am a bit sad about it. He was a good kid and I enjoyed the interactions.
But this also means that I am back at square one with gym stuff... I don't really comfortably know my way around a lot of the equipment and weights. And I feel really self conscious to do anything myself at the gym -- not self conscious about my body but just feel incompetent/awkward that I am doing it wrong.
I have some dumbbells at home. And can do body weight stuff. But I really would like to work toward being more confident/knowledgeable with weights/equipment at the gym.
Not sure what I do from here. And would legitimately appreciate any help/ guidance from the fitness people of Tumblr
