We've made it to Quincey and Dr. Seward, voiced by Giancarlo Herrera and Jonathan Sims! You'll know Giancarlo from the likes of @valencepod and @sditepod, and @jonnywaistcoat from deep in The Magnus Archives! It's been such a treat working with them.

Swordtember is a podcast this year*
It's called Of The Sword. There'll be an episode every day in September – each one is a short story with a unique sword through its heart. It's produced by Tal Minear (of Someone Dies In This Elevator) and Ezra J. Wayne. And I wrote one of the stories, Driving The Point Home; it'll be the episode released on 19 September!
If you can't wait til then, you can get all Of The Sword episodes early and ad-free by donating to Tal's Ko-fi. All cash raised goes to The National Center for Transgender Equality:
Of the Sword isn't popping up in searches in all the podcast apps just yet (too fresh!), but you should still be able to subscribe by copying and pasting the feed address into the search bar: https://feeds.megaphone.fm/ofthesword
For the full episode list and transcripts, head to the Of The Sword website:
*As well as the usual art-prompt Swordtember, not instead of!

✨12 Podcasts for 12 Days of Podmas ✨
a belated podmas post from me, asha!
thanks to @vestaclinicpod for coming up with the idea, it's genius! <3
in no particular order, the podcasts I reviewed (and a link to their spotify/podchaser when I rb this later):
SPIRIT BOX RADIO @spiritboxradio: Absolutely charming! I'm now very attached to the main cast of characters, and the overall tone of the show is (pardon the pun) bewitching! Plus gorgeous music that loops in my head constantly when I'm not listening!
MONSTROUS AGONIES @monstrousagonies: An agony column for 'creatures of the night'? What a brilliant concept! Monstrous Agonies manages to be oftentimes soothing, funny and heart-wrenching all in the space of an episode! It has swiftly become a favourite of mine and stands to stay that way.
THE PASITHEA POWDER @pasitheapowder: Complex, unique storytelling methods and a plot that unravels deliciously. I'm constantly on the edge of my seat! The intense relationships between the main characters (Sophie and Jane, but also them and Evelyn and Jane with George to name just a few) all feel very realistic and I can't wait to see what happens next!
THE STRANGE CASE OF STARSHIP IRIS @iriscasefiles: Never fails to cheer me up! Complex and compelling characters, delightful sci-fi setting and concept of an alien culture. At this point I think I've recommended TSCOSI to everyone I know at least twice. Sad? Starship Iris. Happy? Starship Iris. Not sure yet? Starship Irisss!
UNSEEN @unseendotshow: Seemingly standalone stories build up a rich lore for the world of the podcast. Always a delight! Each episode adds a new layer/type of story to consider, and the voice work is always jaw-dropping.
ROGUEMAKER @roguemaker: Super fast paced, does NOT pull its punches. I need the songs to be on spotify by themselves so I can listen on repeat because they're so so beautiful! Dynamic, intriguing and most importantly, very very enjoyable! <3
NIGHT SHIFT @nightshiftpodcast: Phenomenal audio work! A treat for your ears :) the world of the podcast is one almost like our own, but just a step or two to the left, making for highly entertaining listening as we (and Seb) learn the secrets of Echor City. I'm very excited to see where season two takes us!
BODIES IN SPACE @bodiesinspacepod: Very funny and very heartfelt! Delightful protagonists, each with their own thing going on that we get to find out about over the course of the show. Really lovely sound work!
SOMEONE DIES IN THIS ELEVATOR @sditepod: Every single episode blows me away! I dread the day I get properly up to date and have no more to just casually rip my heart out on an otherwise average afternoon :') Consistently stellar writing, and you'd be surprised by just how many ways someone can die in an elevator…
MABEL @mabelpodcast: How to even begin to describe this rollercoaster of a story?! I devoured this podcast. The style is hard to pinpoint but unique, refreshing and absolutely enthralling. If you like fae horror and fantastic sound design, Mabel is right up your alley!
ME AND AU @meandaupod: I find myself returning to Me and AU frequently, because the characters are just so sweet! A truly delightful show, I'd recommend it to anyone who has spent any time in a fandom - especially a tiny one! The experience is well represented here :))
CHAPTER AND MULTIVERSE: The characters of Masks are going to live in my heart for a long time! The players and GM bounce off one another very well, making for deliciously complex relationships between their characters, who are all, in their own ways, really very sweet. Tonally each episode balances the serious with the sweet in a way that I find lovely to listen to :)

Am a huge fan of Inn Between. Great concept, well written and executed with a great cast. I have actually just started a relisten and it's even comfier than I remembered. Sadly I am still working out where best to put the season logos (you know how it is with stickers).
Do you have any audio drama suggestions for a listener who likes creativity and interesting world-building? I like all kinds of horror, scifi, fantasy, supernatural and things in between (or in combination with other genres not mentioned) but I will listen to almost anything. Both popular or obscure shows are okay (I've heard the really big names, but the rest vary a lot in listener count), I enjoy both wholesome and brutal, and I don't mind much what the audio quality is like. Not fussy about format, pure narration and pure cast acting are both great (and so many people do a mix of the two so well) though sfx are a celebrated bonus to either, and I especially enjoy what people seem to ick about, blood/gore and kiss sounds and angry radio static and other weird and messy noises... All very fun.
Much appreciated, and I hope you are doing well. I hope as well I have not been too vague or specific or both. All my best, and yours incredibly sleepily, 🐛
Thank you for your kind words!! I do know how it is with stickers. Let me tell you, it helps having a bunch of them in your house at all times.
I love the specificity of this ask!! I got six shows for you to try—
Life With Althaar is a scifi found family sitcom turned drama, which is honestly one of my favorite kinds of storyline development. I am obsessed with every character. They are each my blorbo. The sound design of this one is really cool too—you have to listen in stereo because sometimes there are concurrent conversations. The worldbuilding is incredible, and strikes a balance that a lot of far-future scifi misses, how it’s familiar. But not too familiar. But not too not fam
Incarnation Read is a very little known single-narrator horror podcast, written and produced exclusively by one guy. And let me tell you, this guy is a sfx GENIUS. His editing and foley rules. I’m not much of a horror fan, but I listen for his talent.
What’s the Frequency is one I haven’t actually listened to, (it’s next on my list! i have to finish Station Blue!) but it has notoriously interesting sound design. It’s PSYCHEDELIC NOIR. You can’t beat that.
Speaking of the psychedelic, The Great Chameleon War slaps in a major way. It has a similar cadence and style to night vale? But it is WAY weirder.
Omen is another one with that flawless sound design, a rollicking fantasy-adventure. It’s a swashbuckling mystery and i am in love with it. Although they did just kill off my favorite boy, so obviously they will face my wrath, but it is excellent.
And but not least, if you like creative concepts you will enjoy Someone Dies In This Elevator, a spoiler-driven anthology series. Every episode is different, but they have one important thing in common. I bet you can guess what it is.
Enjoy! I’d love to hear what you think!

SDITE The Elevator Game narrator: "I’ve been spending the weekend at the Stanley Hotel [...] Right now I’m on my way to the fifth floor where there’s supposed to be a woman that joins me."
Me: ... wait....... I was at the Stanley Hotel earlier this year. I don't think there is a fifth floor? Am I remembering right? I'm pretty sure it was only two floors (plus a basement)
The narrator: "Now, I know you don’t come to this podcast for facts and folklore, so I won’t bore you with details. Plus, I’ll be honest, I did very little research before coming here."
Me: that's fair I respect that, thank you for answering my question

Columbo Crossovers (Part 2/?, for podcasts)
Still alive, Columbo fandom? Well, this one’s for those of you who’ve migrated to podcasts, looking for a little something to listen to, that, much like the show, will keep you hooked.
Tumblr media
(This is me making the list.)
For those lost, I’d suggest reading this post. (Part one here.)
This is like an assorted chocolate box of podcasts, so if you see something you like, you should definitely use it! (Don’t forget to credit me, though.) Prompts under the cut, so let’s go! Note: this list is slightly shorter than the previous one.
(Needless to say, there will be spoilers for every single one of these, up to the point I’ve listened to, but anyway, SPOILER ALERT! Also, slight fantasy-sci-fi element here, in that Columbo owns a time machine and can travel to various fiction podcast plotlines.)
1. The One Stars: Columbo lands up on board the Space Windu. Chaos ensues, as everyone is talking at the same time. (Chatbot and Lily both find Columbo adorable and yap contentedly with him while Negative Nancy practically begs Mike the Cat( Mickey the Kitty?) to shoot her out of the airlock. I dunno; I really couldn’t care less about this show.)
2. The Orbiting Human Circus (Of the Air): Columbo hears about this insane, but weirdly beautiful circus, and brings the missus along. They stay for one show, but it’s one that they will never forget. (LBR note: You don’t really have to have a lot of Columbo knowledge for this one, as it’s mostly OHC centred.)
3. StarTripper!!!: In a freak accident, Columbo travels to the StarTripper WITHOUT his time machine. The pilot seems like a friendly sort, optimistic and cheerful, and when Columbo explains his predicament, the pilot is happy to help, claiming that ‘he likes a good story’. Till the time they can find a solution, Feston(that’s the little alien’s name apparently) is more than happy to let him stay on board the StarTripper.
After a while, however, they receive some....interesting news. Apparently, someone’s been going around stealing Plushies all over the galaxy, and Feston takes it upon himself to solve the case. With the tiny detective’s help, of course.  (This is set in season one, before 1x05,  so, it’s just the three of them, no Serena. Proxy entertains Columbo’s outlandish questions, and Feston, despite enjoying his lone travels greatly, is also happy to have someone to talk to. Columbo likes Feston instantly, and dearly admires his optimism.)
This is long. Okay.
4. Forgive Me!: Columbo doesn’t have anything to confess, as such, but Father Ben is happy to have someone to talk to just for the fun of it. (This show is incredibly wholesome, and so is this pairing.)
5. Someone Dies in This Elevator: Columbo gets stuck on an elevator, where someone is going to die. All he has to do is figure out who, before it’s too late. Simple, right?
Well, that’s all from me folks! (Atleast for the podcast prompts, anyway). See you real soon, and if you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading.
