FWD: Someone Dies In This Elevator
Our first feed drop! We'll be periodically sharing audio dramas we think fans of Re: Dracula will also like. I hear there's an oncoming droughtula, and hopefully you can fill your podcatcher with other great shows.
Someone Dies in this Elevator is spoiler-driven anthology podcast where there is always an elevator and someone always dies in it - but everything else is different.
Follow @sditepod on Instagram, Tumblr, & Twitter. Find out more about the show at sditepod.com.

My podcast recommendation of the hour is Someone Dies In This Evilvator, which is about someone getting their shoelaces caught in an escalator and dying, immediately

My podcast recommendation of the hour is Evil Hallway To Nowhere, in which a person goes through the harrowing ordeal of taking one right turn in a hall and then gets where they need to go. It’s a four hour audio movie.

Hey,
Pst.
You wanna see how much world I can build in 20 minutes?
Official Episode Description: Smile, you’re on camera. This episode contains the sound of a gunshot at the end of the episode, discussion of systemic inequality, and death in an elevator.
A huge thanks to Tal for inviting me!! This was a lot of fun and involved so many more people than I'm used to. The team (I was on a team!!) I was on, absolutely wonderful.
This is also a great chance to pspsps people to the rest of the series: here

I'm having kind of a strange few days.
First off, in case someone stumbles in by accident here are the most basic background details.
My name is Trace Callahan. I'm a composer, sound designer, game, story, and audio nerd from Maine living in Florida. I'm in love with collaborative storytelling. I also work at a school as a day job doing of all things, bookkeeping and budgeting. Being a spreadsheet nerd helps with both! Anyway, back to the last few days.
School is out for the week for Thanksgiving, so my original plan involved a nice, meaty list of projects I wanted to work on, some promises I wanted to keep, and maybe a bit of cleaning. I lined up some sound redesigns, a few podcast episodes to design, a bit of writing, a few songs, and probably a decent amount of AC Syndicate playing. Instead, Friday night like many people I reached a certain point with Twitter, my internet home-ground, and have spent a lot of the last few days looking into different social media, trying to find my friends and coworkers as they too gently or loudly migrate. I've spent more time on social media in the last 4 days than I have in the last 2 months!
I'm beginning to see a path forward with all that, and my wordy brain is absolutely enjoying writing longer things again, but the weirdness continues in other ways.
The height of it involves the song I linked. So Much More to Say is from the Someone Dies in This Elevator episode The Cop, the Clerk, and the Body. I could say a lot of things about this episode (and am now thinking that might be part of what this blog is for) but for now, I'll stick to the point. This song and all of the music in the episode is diegetic, being played by the hotel's lobby band and dance band as the episode flows between locations.
This final song plays in the lobby near the end of the episode, a simple jazz trio playing some suitably emotional but unassuming music. It's sparse and simple and just the right amount of sad. The musicians are a bit tired. It's been a long night and the dance upstairs means they aren't getting many tips. Imagine my delight, surprise, and then confusion when I noticed it getting a huge uptick in plays on Spotify, looked into it, and found out it was picked up by an EDM playlist! I don't know how, or why, or who. I absolutely hope they're enjoying it, and as this week continues its weird, unexpected way toward Thanksgiving, I'm glad for every listen no matter how much head-scratching I might do.

I’ve ran SO MANY casting calls, and I wrote up how I like to do them! If you’re thinking about running your first casting call for audio drama, it might be a helpful read.
