I do think there's an interesting discussion to be had about how Halsin, continuously, flees responsibility.

The most obvious example of this is in Act 1, when he decides to call for a new Arch Druid to handle the Grove while he goes with you to Moonrise Towers, but this can also be seen in Act 2 when he leaves the Shadow Cursed lands to accompany you to Baldur's Gate. While he did travel with you to find the Cult of the Absolute, his primary motivation in Act 2 was lifting the Shadow Curse and freeing Thaniel. Regardless of how you resolved events in Act 2, it makes the most sense for Halsin to stay behind - either to help the land heal in the aftermath of the Shadow Curse, or to find a new way to free the land if you don't lift the curse.

But again he flees, and he goes with you.

Now I know the Doylist reasoning for this is Larian made him romancable last-minute and so handwaved in an explanation of Halsin wanting to tag along to help you fight the Netherbrain/he was dtf by that point, but the thing is it is consistent with his character. For someone who is continuously placed in a position of authority, Halsin seems to be deeply uncomfortable with responsibility - or at the very least feels deeply inadequate for the task, and all-too readily passes it over to someone he feels is more prepared for it.

By the epilogue he seems to have (mostly) figured out this part of his character, as he's returned to the SCL and is mentoring children there, but I think it's a shame we don't see this aspect explored more, especially since his content is so lacking in Act 3. If you're not romancing Halsin, he's just sort of...there. He has a few comments about Baldur's Gate and there's a few discussions you can have with him about civilization vs nature (which don't really go anywhere or have any meaningful impact on his character), but otherwise his character severely stagnates in Act 3.

Exploring how Halsin feels now that his greatest "failure" - the Shadow Curse - has been resolved, could have been a fascinating turn for his character. Forcing him to examine how that event affected how he views any other responsibility he's been given (It's easy to draw a line from "he feels he failed massively when Ketheric Thorm cast the Shadow Cures" to "he feels like he is incapable of handling any sort of responsibility") and helping him to reconcile those feelings could have been a really nice resolution to character threads that otherwise just sort of fall to the wayside by Act 3.

I just think there's ample opportunity for Halsin to have a really interesting character arc by Act 3.

Sam remembers the first time she got high. It was a blessing in disguise.

There she was at some house party, maybe Scott Donovan’s house. She didn’t care. All she cared about was numbing her pain.

She had just turned fourteen and was in her first year of high school. She wore many slutty tops and low-rise jeans, begging for boys' attention. Not because she was lonely or wanted a romance but because she wanted access to their world. She needed to be numbed, fucking sedated to deal with her past. And the stupid boys held the key.

There were easier ways to cope. It would probably be healthier if Sam let go and grew up from her past. But she couldn’t. She couldn’t move on.

Her father was a fucking killer. A cold-blooded murderer with no tangible rhyme or reason for what he did. And she was forever linked to him, like some death trap she accidentally stumbled onto.

And she was stuck forever. So she might as well make it tolerable.

Taking a sip of her shitty beer, she sighed, leaning her head against the door frame. She had worn her best top, showing just enough cleavage to get them looking. And finally, one bit.

“Hey, pretty thing. You’re looking too good to stand here all alone,” he purred, smelling strongly of weed and beer.

He was tall and looked scraggly. She doesn’t remember his name. She probably never learned it, either.

She just smirked up at him, taking another sip. “You got something for me to smoke, or are you gonna waste my time?”.

He smiled, a wicked, daunting smile. “Follow me, pretty thing.”

The party was a blur after that.

The feeling of floating and being outside of her body was all she could remember. It didn’t matter that her father was a killer. She couldn’t even feel her toes anymore. Her head was light, full of air. She was alive in ways that others wished they could be.

It was exhilarating. It was everything she could’ve dreamed of and more.

And she wanted more. She needed more, craving it as she had never craved anything in her life before.

And so she continued. She took anything and everything under the sun. She wouldn’t come home for days sometimes, just constantly getting wasted on whatever they would give her.

Sam also got to know Wes’ mom very, very well. She had built quite the case file of public intoxications, disorderly conduct, and vandalism.

Spray paint became her new best friend. Her need to create art was revived by the alcohol in her veins.

After years of practicing her technique and running from the cops nipping at her heels, she creates her swan song. Somewhere in Woodsboro, under the bridge off of Rose Street, there is a mural she had painted on Tara’s twelfth birthday.

Hii, I would like to ask some questions pls if you don’t mind :) Its gonna be months before English subs comes out n my german is too basic so even when I’ll watch on rtl I’ll probably won’t get a lot of things

what happens with rudolf in the military scl, is the tutor too harsh with him? Why does rudolf return with franz even tho he was miserable at the scl n ran away from vienna

I will answer any questions about season 03 I can answer, so sure. I will tag anything spoilery with Sisi spoilers.

The tutor is portrayed as cartoonishly evil and they didn't even get a German speaking actor for him but just dubbed someone over. So he isn't really an important character at all. I don't remember we even get his name. He is just mean to the students and threatens them.

Sisi goes with Rudolf to the academy to take away his fear because her mother always says you only fear what you don't know. However, she is shocked about the treatment of students there and Rudolf gets scared. He has to go anyway because Franz says so since the workers have started to rebel and he wants Rudolf to be strong. Before that Sisi and Franz had agreed to wait for one more year and Sisi was about to go travel with Rudolf as a ninth birthday gift. Instead he has to go to the academy at the evening of his birthday.

Rudolf is miserable at the academy, as you would expect. So Sisi breaks him out, meets Alma and they run to the South of France where Franz eventually finds them because someone tracked them there. We don't know why exactly Rudolf went with Franz since they leave at night when Sisi sleeps. Franz basically pulled an Uno reverse card on her and left with Rudolf the way she did by just leaving a letter for her. Rudolf seems to love his father but also seems to be vary of angering him, so I guess he didn't really have a choice.

Grafton Center por David Blazejewski Por Flickr: Another from this fun morning out along the Grafton and Upton Railroad. This little pike is now so busy that it has two daily jobs. After both worked in tandem up in North Grafton they departed south with GU 1191 (blt. Feb. 1978 as SCL 4221) and GMTX 226 (blt. Sep. 1975 as MILW 480) trailed by a half dozen cars and crew number two aboard GU 1160 (blt. Oct. 1977 as SCL 4010) tagging along on the rear. Upon arrival at West Upton the crew on the hind end cut off their unit and three cars and stayed to go about their work in the busy transload yard. Here is the combined train curling Center historic Grafton center on this twisting and undulating interurban style route between North St. and Upton St. near MP 3.1. Rising above the town common is the 1863 wooden Italianate Unitarian Church built after the original was destroyed in fire. I can never quite find the angle I like here as the classic broadside has been marred since modern crossing signals with gates were add several years ago. Sure, Geralt was muscley and had beautiful, shapely, irritatingly symmetrical lips and an ass shaped by the hands of the gods themselves but—those features alone have never been enough to do it for Jaskier. He’s not a ruffian. He needs a little more than natural strength, he needs effort. It shouldn’t matter that Geralt is gifted in certain areas because he bathes once a week maybe if they’re lucky and lives in his armor and kisses his horse on the mouth and is otherwise a truly disgusting human. Or not human. A truly disgusting witcher.

So it’s absurd and quite shocking, really, when Jaskier starts to get hard every time he can smell Geralt of Rivia’s sweat.

So. I’m working on a fic that involves some sweat/pit/stink kink, right? And I thought to myself hmm lets see what that ao3 tag is like, real casual, just out of curiosity...... 👀💦 Listen to me, listen-- I wasn’t even remotely prepared for this?? And of course Geralt can smell that. I love fics where Geralt knows what’s up all along and just doesn’t say anything until the climax, no pun intended. And woof what a climax it is, because besides being so ungodly hot, there’s a few emotional lines that made me just--get up and walk in a circle for a second.

This fic is like 2 years old and I’m not sure she even writes for the witcher anymore, but boy howdy if you’re into raunch, give this a look. ⭐

We all heard they shot Roe. In the spirit of leaning into anger > despair, I’m making a very informal invite to tumblr at large.

If you are a creator willing to make something as thank you gift for people who make a donation to an abortion fund or a person willing to be said donor, hear ye, hear ye.

I threw together a google form for creators whose inboxes are open to people coming to them with requests in exchange for donations to an abortion fund or other reproductive justice organization. Assuming this gains traction, potential donors can review interested creators here.

Of course, if google makes you itch, feel free to just reblog this post and share your specific details/offerings below.

This is not a formal/moderated event. It's just a repository to keep a running list of interested creators for donors to review. Specific details (what will be created, minimum/proof of donations, timeline for completion, etc.) will need to be worked out between creators and donors BEFORE the donation is made.

You can message me at any point if you’d like your response deleted from the google sheet.

My #1 post of 2022

going to put my own two cents in here with goncharov analysis. I see everyone talking about the clock - especially the pocket watch - but I have not seen anyone say anything about the fact that Goncharov dies alone.

The entire film, he is surrounded by people. He is part of a group, a piece of this perfectly working machine. Never is he entirely forced to reckon with what he has created, what he is. He is never entirely just himself, and the consequences are never his own to face.

It is only when his own hubris ruins these walls, these relationships that he has meticulously created - whether to protect himself or the outside world - is he alone. Left with nothing but himself. Goncharov dies alone, and in the end, it doesn't matter how hard he fought, how desperate he was. He dies alone.

I just find this so interesting, especially when you add in this aspect of a legacy. Why has he built this up for himself?
