For days 1, 2, 4 and 5 of #ThisMAIfreeArt Salgood Sam did shorter comics, here's those along with his sketch from day 1!
He's collecting the fist 5 days worth of his work into a small zine he'll be handing out at #TCAF and #FBDM this year FYI. If you see him at either ask him about it!

It's Just a Tool!
Salgood Sam did an eleven panel comic for day two of #ThisMAIFreeArt , in part as a response to the Counter Point Prompt of '03. What makes a tool not just neutral?'
He responded to the main prompt by also showing all the steps in the process!

This May, Free Art with us!
We want to free it from exploitative and extractive generative AI capture and training, without consent or licence!
And encourage people’s human right to true self expression, not resorting to gamified prompting engines for an imitation of it.

The first weeks worth of our daily phrasal Counterpoint Prompt Cards. Use them ow you like but they are ment to be complementary to the #ThisMAIFreeArt challenge prompt list. These were inspired by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt's Oblique Strategies cards. A pretty cool tool for promoting human creativity. Our daily Counterpoint Prompt Cards post to our Instagram and FB profiles at the start of each day. We'll post a catch up batch like this here on tumbler on weekends.

We set up some profile frames for social media profiles you can add to your photo or whatever it is you use for those. Some transparent PNG files are here in this drive folder, and you'll find a doc with a link to one set up on CANVA for you to use if you like. We don't love that platform but if you lack an image editing program it might be a useful tool for you. You can download the options we have there as the PNG files and upload your photo and them to CANVA yourself too, to have more options other than the one linked to.

Currently there are 3 main ways to protect your visual artwork when you post publicly online:
Signatures/Watermarks
Nightshade
Glaze
Signatures/Watermarks: Simply signing your work marks it as yours (and distorted signatures show up in AI recreations).
There are also tools like https://rgbwatermark.net/ that you can use to add a watermark overlay. (The default, dotted rainbow layer is hard to remove)
Nightshade and Glaze: Nightshade and Glaze are both tools developed by researchers at the University of Chicago designed to disrupt AI training. If you use both, they recommend using Nightshade first, then Glaze.
You can read more about these tools and download them at https://glaze.cs.uchicago.edu/aboutus.html
And the good news is that they're working on tools for other mediums, like video too!

Eduardo Valdes created some Badges for our campaigns and others that you can add to your work to identify it as Human Made Arts!
We've been using Arts in the plural because for our tags and group name becuase Generative Platforms don't just impact the visual arts, so there are 17 badges ranging from comic art, to writing to fashion design and more!
These 100% Human Made Art Badges were made for #ThisMAIFreeArt campaign but feel free to use them for your work year round if you want to make sure people know it's all you, 100% human. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/gh53pmjgyk2hn3fee9o1r/AGdZ_1hyuB8lxAIHINDNRsI?rlkey=ocw7m4nswh5mj64ue3e243d5x&e=1&st=1vcmmqh7&dl=0
If you want Ed to make a specific badge for your creative discipline, leave a comment tagging him on this. But also we're really into the idea of people remixing these, so feel free to take the general idea and make your own version to use and share.
There are also Facebook frames that you can use to support Human Made Arts this moth available for free here: https://www.canva.com/design/DAGD3Kz2DAs/3KGkPVps24UeE5tEX0pozA/view?utm_content=DAGD3Kz2DAs&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=publishsharelink&mode=preview
Don't forget to Glaze and Nightshade your work! They need a robust GPU so If you aren't able to on your computer, ask around you're probably be able to find yourself a Nightshade buddy who can help you out! https://glaze.cs.uchicago.edu/downloads.html https://nightshade.cs.uchicago.edu/downloads.html

#ThisMAIFreeArt with us.
Join us to celebrate #HumanMadeArts and take a stand against unethical uses and training of Generative AI.
We've created a prompt list for use as a human creative protest, and invite not just visual artists but all creatives, pros and amateurs, to use them to spark actual creativity!
Post your works with the hashtags here to your feeds and we'll look for them to re-share!
We're also going to be posting daily counter prompts to help inspire more play [the first one is included in this post], and share articles about everything from how to protect your work to discussions of the ethics around these 'tools' and what could be done about them. Looking forward to seeing your creations!

This May, Free Art with us!
We want to free it from exploitative extractive generative AI capture and training without consent or licence! And encourage people’s human right to true self expression, rather than resorting to gamified prompting engines for a simulacrum of it.
HumanMadeArts.org is founded by a group of artists and we're going to have more to share as well, but our tent poll action for May starting with International Workers Day, is a 31 day art challenge! And we wanted to get this list to you at least a few days before that.
Use them to inspire some drawing fun, or work in ANY human driven medium, and post them with the hashtags #ThisMAIFreeArt and #IsupportHumanMadeArts along with others like #NoAI and #HumanMadeArts
Feel free to tag us in your posts too so we can re-share them! You don't have to be a great artist! Just a Human.
We’ll also be publishing Oblique Strategy like daily phrasal prompts as well that you can use separately or in combination with the lists. Along with Memes and Articles as well. We invite you to do the same all May using the same hashtags to still support the cause of human creativity and ethical treatment of our creative labour.
Look forward to seeing your posts!
