#sasha the greatest scout

Text
If the Scouts were so unpopular with the citizens in the Walls and were constantly on the verge of dissolution, what they needed to do was make the pointless expeditions less about exploration/titan research and more about foraging for food to bring back to the people.  Not only is this infinitely more useful, but more people might’ve enlisted because dying by defending a wagon of fresh game from a rampaging titan is a lot more honorable than riding out to ‘survey’ and dying with few, if any, results.
And Sasha might’ve gone down in history as the greatest Scout of all time.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞
↳ includes: scout, engineer, heavy, medic, sniper, and spy (i forgot demo i'm so sorry)
↳ warnings: bad translations, slight mentions of world war two and malpractice
↳ song: with a little help from my friends—joe cocker
masterlist | commissions | carrd
𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐭
• He would be so smug about it
• Puffing his chest out and everything
• His friends in the past- and even family members -have teased him for mispronouncing words or speaking too fast, and it’s made him a bit self conscious about the way he talks. But after hearing that you find it endearing, its a giant ego boost for him
• “Yeah dat’s right! Who’s awesome? I’m awesome!” Scout smiles as he flexes his arms in your face, subjecting you to what he likes to call a surprise gun show. You pretend to hate it as you shove his arm away, but chuckle all the same
• He’s already gloated before that he already knew his accent was the best. Boston is the greatest place in the world after all! But hearing it from you really just sent him over the moon
• Makes a point to talk to you a lot more now; as if he didn’t already
• “Yo! Hey did you see that kill out there? I totally messed dat Spy up! One wrong step and pow! He’s dead meat!”
• “I saw Scout. I was covering your flank while you did it, remember?”
• “Yeah yeah, but I just thought you’d like ta hear about it again.”
𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫
• Didn’t consider himself to have an accent until you pointed him out
• Sure, he says the occasional y’all and ain’t, but not enough to qualify as a whole different way of speaking
• It wasn’t until he dropped a hammer on his foot and cursed that he understood what you’d meant
• “What in the sam hill! Sweet hell!” He’d exclaimed, startled. Once the throbbing in his leg had subsided, Engineer replayed his words in his head, making a slight o with his mouth as he realized you were probably right. To some extent at least
• He was a born and raised Texas boy, so it makes sense that the culture rubbed off
• Doesn’t understand at first that you find it nice. Maybe he thought you pointed it out just because you could? He’s a bit distracted when it comes to anything but machinery, so he misses context sometimes
𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲
• Surprised that someone like you who can speak English fluently finds his mannerisms attractive
• Gets frustrated sometimes when he can’t remember certain words in English. Heavy is a very smart man, so it aggravates him when he looks illiterate in front of his team
• That’s why hearing that you like his mother tongue caught him by surprise
• “But you don’t know any Russian?” He’d rumbled out as a question. When you shook your head no, still sporting a smile, his eyebrows furrowed further
• “Nah. But I like hearing it when it comes from you. It sounds more natural. Like you’re more comfortable than normal, you know?”
• You’re technically right. When Heavy slips into Russian, often whilst talking to Sasha or simply forgetting that not everyone on the team know how to speak it, he is more comfortable in his words. They flow better, and he’s flattered that you’ve noticed
• One hundred percent offers to teach you Russian in his spare time. He finds it slightly adorable how you stumble over words in your broken translations, but always manages to softly correct you
• He’s a really good teacher
𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜
• Positively thrilled that you like his voice
• When you tell him for the first time, he goes into shock for a moment before breaking out into the biggest smile you’ve seen. Somehow its a perfect balance between excited and malicious
• “Do you hear zhat Archemedies? Mein freund here enjoys my accent!” He cooes at his bird, chuckling in a way that would make anyone’s insides squirm
• Once you look past Medic’s initially devious reaction, it’s very clear he enjoys knowing this
• If anything, the ex-doctor would have thought that you’d enjoy the more stereotypically romantic sounding languages. Spanish, Latin, etc
• German has always been considered harsh or scary sounding, and it turned a lot of people away from hiring him after the events of World War Two, which he understood. Still, Medic finds himself absolutely tickled that you are drawn to his accent
• Finds himself slipping more and more into German while doing checkups on you now. When he catches himself, he translates most of what’s he’s said back to you. But sometimes he’ll simply forget, and it leaves you wondering if he’s offered you a glass of water or the opportunity to swap your bladder out
• You sincerely hoped it was the former
𝐒𝐧𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫
• Oh my god you killed him
• Sniper is very reserved. Living in his camper, hunting his own game for dinner instead of joining the others, literally pissing in jars, etc etc
• Being a man of few words comes part and parcel with that; which normally works out just find because Scout talks enough for ten people
• Hasn’t said much to you before. He mostly communicates in head nods or slight tilts of his coffee mug in your direction. Maybe a few ‘good mornin’s’ tossed around, but nothing more than that
• “You know, you should talk more.” You’d said to him one day while pouring a fresh pot of tea you had just boiled into your own mug. He preferred black coffee himself, but whatever floats your boat
• “You voice.” You elaborated after a sip. You must have noticed his confused look as you carried on. “It’s nice. Can’t imagine that you don’t have gals throwing themselves at you all the time because of it.”
• Suddenly very grateful he wasn’t drinking any of his brew at the time, because what you said surely would have made him choked
• He, in fact, had had a few ladies approach him in town before saying something along the same lines. Even a few fellas. But nothing made him blanch this strongly like you had
• Excuses himself as he walks out of the room suddenly, tilting his hat down to cover his face no one can see the furious red tint forming
• Sniper leaves you in the communal kitchen. Holding a steaming cup of liquid and looking very confused
𝐒𝐩𝐲
• Already knew before you told him
• To anyone else, it would have been passible as just curiosity. But Spy’s job is to know things, and it is an undeniable fact that you found his voice attractive
• Doesn’t utilize this weapon often. You are not a weak willed person swayed by just a few words, so when he needs something he pulls out all the stops
• Of course, that doesn’t stop him from being impressed when you eventually admit your little not-so-secret-secret to him. And of your own free will. He didn’t have to pry it out of you, which was a feat on its own
• Much like Heavy, he extends the offer of teaching you how to learn his language. Now that he no longer has this knowledge as a bargaining chip, he might as well seize the opportunity to teach you a proper language
• Considers using electroshock therapy to condition you faster, but nixes it pretty quick
• Again, like Heavy, he finds it cute how horrible you are at French. More amused than anything, but he can appreciate the way you practice verbs in your free time even when he isn’t leaning over your shoulder
• That you know of, that is
• Praises you often in french, letting excited phrases slip when you nail a particularly hard set of words
• “Merveilleux ! Tu t’améliores beaucoup, ma petite. Encore une fois.”
• While you don’t understand the full extent to his words, you smile and continue on, eventually realizing what he had said later in a fit of embarrassment

Note; Can be read as either platonic or romantic :) I hope you enjoy bc I know I enjoyed exploring these kinds of emotions even though it made me very sad <3
❝Sasha has always kept her promises to you but sometimes not all promises can be kept.❞
Tumblr media
“Come back to me.”
A promise comprised of four simple words, exchanged over cold porridge and stale bread or amongst the dewy morning grass– pinkies always tightly interlocked to seal them before setting off on whatever hellish plight awaited the scout regiment that day. Never had Sasha looked as serious as she did then, her thick brows pressed together as she steeled her nerves, lips pressed firmly into a line, suddenly aging about a year or ten; mature in a way only someone who held the weight of the world could be and tired like any other soldier who saw much too much at an age too young. Exhaustion crept between the spaces of her ribs and settled into her bones but still, she managed that smile that held the fire of a thousand suns, happy if only for a few short moments, grateful for the twinkling laughter Connie shared with her.
Some may think it a miracle that there was still a part of her that seemed so bright, and cheery even as she gushed over Niccolo’s cooking as if that was Paradis’ most pressing issue– food, but when the sun laid to rest so too did that warm light that seemed to follow her figure wherever she roamed. When the moon came to say hello, the stars brightening the night sky and she was all but alone, Sasha felt it. She felt the ache that lived in her chest, made itself at home when she was sixteen and never quite left, only got more prominent after each devastating loss.
She never thought she was allowed to feel it, not in the way the others were.
Her parents had survived when most of her village had perished; she still had a family that extended far beyond the scout regiment, a luxury most could only dare to dream of having. People, those outside of it all, the ones she went to when it all felt a bit too much. They’d keep her head from bobbing beneath the wicked waves that threatened to drown her with a warm meal and a kind smile. Though she never lingered for too long even if she longed for the simple life her parent's farm offered, the sweet smiles of her adoptive siblings all too enticing but of all the things her home had, they lacked one thing
You.
The person she made promises to that she always intended to fulfill no matter how silly they seemed. Sasha never failed, never when it came to you. Even if that meant she had to stop raiding the higher-up's pantry for extra rations because she promised she’d be on her best behaviour for you. Everything was always for you, always. You brought out the best in her and she brought out the worst in you at least, that's what Sasha believed. Overindulgence was her greatest sin at least that's all that most others thought of her, they were right in some ways but sometimes it stung to hear whispers carried through the mess hall. Her name like a stain spewed bitterly and spat out with disgust because how could someone like her be capable of any ounce of greatness or any military feat; it was unbelievable to anyone other than the comrades who stood by her on the battlefield.
You never doubted her though, always thrilled to hear of her exploits and adventures albeit sad that you weren’t there to witness Sasha’s triumphs, unable to relish in her joy but still you never dared to dampen her mood on account of your own longings. Sasha was your best friend, the girl who made your heart race and your soul sing and you too would do anything for her.
That’s why you made that promise.
The four-worded one that sometimes felt too dangerous to make but the two of you did it anyway because Sasha always came back to you. Her dazzling brown eyes shone as she smiled, a tale on the tip of her tongue, ready to unleash all the gory details. She always made good on her promise, she always did.
Until she didn’t.
Well, she did come back to Paradis but rather than with eyes which always were twinkling with mischief and with a tummy that rumbled so vigorously you swore it made the earth shake, Sasha, came home in a wooden box. Hastily made on the harrowing trip home, it was made so they wouldn’t have to look at her sullen face or the gaping wound that stole her breath away from her.
You suppose in a way, she did keep her promise.
Sasha came home to you as a shell of her former self, a corpse waiting to be lowered to the ground with the rest of your fallen comrades but she still came home. Her promise was not unbroken, because neither of you ever said she had to come back alive. Though, these days you wish you did. The naive part of you that resembled a child more than it did yourself wished that you had told her to come back alive as if it would change anything.
You tell yourself it would have because that’s what keeps you sane.
You choose to believe that if you told her to stay safe, to stay alive that maybe a little girl named Gabi wouldn’t have needed to take her revenge. You think Sasha would have been better, more thoughtful than reckless in Liberio if you had only gotten her to swear to you something more. It’s all you can do when all that’s left of your other half is a dull gray slab of cement and a patch of freshly upturned soil because it’s easier than accepting a young death was always meant to be her fate.
You could shoulder the burden of blame because it gave you someone other than a child soldier to hate. Even if Sasha wouldn’t have wanted it this way, even if she would have wanted you to move on, you remained shackled to her grave mourning the piece of you that you’d never get back.
At least then, you’d be close to her once more. As close as one could be when their best friend laid buried and cold beneath the earth.

My friend and I came up with a whole comprehensive Yumihisu/Levihan friendship hold on this is so important to me. Long post ahead I’m gonna spill it all.
Hange and Historia forming a friendship when Hisu is crowned Queen. Because like- from my understanding Hange is a government official/prime minister type person in the years before season 4 picks up so they’d be involved in meetings and such with the rest of the government.
Hange and Historia forming a friendship over gossip, Hange cracks a joke after one of the meetings once everyone’s gone, something about now Nile is a shit for brain dummy man, and Hisu loses it because THATS WHAT SHES BEEN SAYING they end up talking for like 4 hours about the military gossip over tea. After that they meet weekly to compare notes and shit talk people.
Hange unintentionally taking a parental role for Historia, like figure that Hisu can talk to, get advice from etc. Parental/Mentor Hange is the only thing ever actually and I adore them so so much. Historia def tells them about Ymir and their relationship and Hange is like lmao Levi is the same :) this is how Hisu finds out they’re a thing HDHFHDHSJ
On a more crack fic/joking note, historia finding Hange’s projects without question 😩 “Yesyes the survey corps need money to- *checks notes* see if titans can get drunk. Fund it. No the MP’s cannot have more funds to pay their staff we don’t have the money 🥰” Hange causes much chaos from this.
Both of them have a grudge towards military police from the s3 arc and it shows. Hange has the freedom to make digs at them in meetings because historia will just try not to laugh she ain’t policing that
Hangs wrapping meetings up quickly because they can see Historia is getting annoyed at the MP’s and like, she’s just a kid she shouldn’t be dealing with this!
Hange donating their old books and resources to the underground kiddo’s Hisu saved because they deserve an education! What if one of the greatest scientists of all time is one of those kids and they don’t have the resources to learn! Not on Hange’s watch
Their gossip sessions would be INSANE though. Hange being called to Historia’S office for a serious meeting one on one. Levi is like… the fuck did you do?! Hange gets there and as SOON as the door closes Hisu drops the biggest fucking bomb like. “NILE KISSED __?!?” Hange is shaken to their core.
Hisu trying to make Hange’s hair less messy and greasy. Hisu failing to make Hange’s hair less messy and greasy- like braiding it. Hell, having it be Hisu’s idea to cut it shorter in the first place. Hange doodling on their and historia’S papers in a meeting coz walls know that bitch canNOT focus. They play tic-tac-toe on the pages when the MP’s are being annoying. Hange being named godparent to Hisu’s baby. Hange babysitting. “Hello little one… ever heard of a ✨ Titan ✨ “
Hisu calling the scouts peasants and such as jokes. Like. @ Levi. “Sorry can’t hear your short ass over my massive wealth </3” she never directs this at Hange and it fucking baffles the others. Same energy as “I’ve never done anything wrong in my life”, “I know this and I love you.” The others don’t have as much political involvement as Hange so they don’t realize they became buddies- except Sasha who walked in on one of their “meetings” by accident and just never mentioned it because it’s Funny.
Other military officials making fun of hange coz they’re a weird little guy and trying to get Historia the-drama-Queen- Reiss in on it but she shuts that shif down and they’re like ?! Tf coz usually she LOVES gossip. Hisu giving the most tedious tasks to people who talk bad abt Hange. Hange hears someone talk shit about the Queen and they get two weeks horse duty with the manure.
Hisu interrogating ANYONE who wants ANY money before giving a grant. Does Not Care what Hange wants.
“I want to see what happens if I launch a Titan off the walls” “sure sure give my treasurer a number and tell them I said so” the treasurer is on their hands and knees BEGGING THE QUEEN TO STOP ALLOWING THIS. Hisu is like wow Steve I didn’t know you had no value for scientific discovery. Historia looking Levi right in the eyes and explaining that she can’t possibly fund his selfish Tea Wanting because blah blah caffeine shortage- in the background Hange has a comically large bag of cash they’re about to use to commission a Titan sized saddle to see if they can ride one like a horse.
Hisu ASKINF for Hangw’s opinion on everyone she hires coz Hange is a fucking dinosaur they made it their business to know everyone and they do. Hange can get a guy hired on their Okay alone.
Hange teaching Hisu self defence. Hange teaching Hisu how to fold a motherfucker while wearing a ball gown and 10inch heels WHILE looking good in the process.
Hange and historia reassuring eachother about their new roles coz they’re both super insecure about the Queen/commander roles.
Protective! Hange!!!!! They have a spare seat in their office and a designated cup for Hisu should she ever need somewhere to get out and chill. Hange telling hisu she’s done more for the people in a month then the last king did in a decade and she should be proud of herself. Hisu telling Hange Erwin was a Dick and they’re doing great as commander.
Hange doing their BEST to not interrogate Hisu about ymir being a shifter and just listens to her instead coz Hisu misses her girl a lot.
Anyways Ymir and Levi pretend this is like, Ymir never left AU.
forming a begrudging friendship. Neither of them knows how it happened or when and neither will admit they tolerate (read: like) the other. Neither of them knows Hisu and Hange are friends. Levi learnt about Ymir’s past and was like damnthat sucks and is unconsciously slightly softer towards her than normal. Ymir calls him a short grumpy old fart and he doesn’t floor her. The rest of the cadets are like THEFUCK⁉️⁉️
Connie tries it later and Levi folds his ass. Ymir laughs at him.
Levi annoys Ymir a Little Tiny Bit and she puts a thin layer of dust on his desk PAINSTAKINGLY all week no matter how much he cleans it. He has no clue it’s her. He thinks he’s cursed. Levi having no social skills and randomly saying the most intense shit-
Levi: ever thought about what you’d do- how you would react if the people who wronged you most in life were sitting in front of you right now?
Ymir who popped into the kitchen at 1am to get water, unknowing that Levi was there: what-
Levi: we’ll if it were mine I would-
Levi having the grossest shit boy humour and trying to make jokes to Ymir. She never laughs. He explains in depth why it is funny. She slowly adopts gross humour over time.
Levi: did you see shadis? That man looks constipated as HELL he needs to take a collosal sized shit-
Ymir: the fuck is wrong with you shortass
Historia is like Why are you making shit jokes all the time, dear? In turn Ymir is like why do you never gossip with me anymore why is that
Ymir having the sibling effect of “only I can roast Levi” if anyone else calls him short she’s up in ARMS. Levi telling Ymir about the Chair and thinking it’s low key hilarious. But ew. Levi being like “I read in the paper the other day-“ Ymir no hesitation being like “ok grandpa.” Levi just continues on. If either of them talk about their past the other listens and then they pretend it never happened like an emotionally stunted dad.
Ymir calls Levi a shorty and transforms, before she’s even done he’s cutting her out like TF DID YOU SAY⁉️ Ymir transforming and realizing she can No Longer See Levi FUCKFUCKFUCK- like. “Oh I can’t see Levi ….. OHICANTSEELEVI—-“
Anyways that’s all for now. Thank you for your time.

Sasha and Marcy
Pt. 1
Darcy stood on the balcony overlooking the landscape of Amphibia. The Core believed that all they saw belonged to them, was rightfully theirs. The hivemind was an ancient entity, The Core lived for thousands of years, trapped physically in a basement for a thousand years. It knew how to wait. Waiting was its game. But recently, previously The Core, now Darcy, had gotten far more impatient. Something went wrong during the transference progress. Something had changed. Whatever they were, they were The Core no more. For thousands of years they were a collection of Amphibia’s greatest minds; scientists, philosophers, engineers, technicians, literary scholars, theorists, and royalty. All with two goals; survive, and carry on. To encase Amphibia’s totality; it’s culture, it’s way of life, in amber. To keep Amphibia on track, and never let it change shape into something inferior.
…But now, in stead of a multitude of voices coming together as one, there was now one voice coming apart as two. The Core underestimated the human girl known as Marcy Wu. Somehow the hierarchy in their mind had changed. They speculated that it was due to the girl being in contact with the stone, the cosmic residue perhaps somehow in conjunction with The Core’s uploading technology created a new lifeform. That, of course, being: Darcy. A singular voice. Both The Core and Marcy Wu, and yet neither at the same time. A strange duality played out in their mind, the love of adventure and a myriad of silly quirks set alongside a desire to control and annihilate. It coalesced into quite an interesting person.
“My lord.” Darcy knew that booming voice. That idiot Andrias was back. Darcy rolled their many eyes as they became tired just off of Andrias’ presence.
“What do you want, Andrias?” They asked annoyed.
“Simply to see how you have been doing, my liege. You mentioned the transfer had left you confused.” The giant salamander remarked, “Also, I baked cupcakes. So, how are you feeling?”
“…New.”
“Ooooookay.” Andrias awkwardly answered not quite sure what to make of it.
“I’m guessing the cupcake tray is an offering.”
“Hmm?” A bead of sweat rolled down Andrias’ temple.
“An apology. For failing once again to eradicate those infernal rebels.” Darcy had not yet turned to face the king.
“Heh, f- failed? No, no, no, the bots are still out in the field searching.” Andrias laughed it off.
Now Darcy turned to face him, “I have eyes everywhere, boy. I see all. I know several of our scouting detachments have been ambushed and destroyed, and that you have been trying to sweep it under the rug.”
“Whaaaaat?”
“This Resistance is too much for you to handle, apparently.” Darcy remarked with gritted teeth.
“No, my lo-“
“Silence yourself! You have failed on almost all fronts! So many loose ends, so little time. Your cloakbot has failed to eradicate Blue of The Heart! You have failed to apprehend and execute that traitor Grime, and Pink of Strength! You can’t even control your own servant staff! The housekeeper Olivia and that worm-brained General attempted a coup on you and to take my body- I mean my vessel away! Not to mention the transfer you oversaw has altered me! I hear no voice expect for my own, I am me, I am one. It is so… strange.”
“My lord, I assure you all is under control; My sources tell me that Anne Boonchuy has been incapable of rallying any sort of Earth defences, she can barely control her powers, they leave them drained and exhausted. And she has no way of returning here. Sasha Waybright is powerless, her numbers are microscopic compared to the daily output of frobots we produce; the ground under her feet is shrinking. As for the coup; Lady Olivia and General Yunan are imprisoned and are awaiting swift public execution, and the newt military forces which aided them will be disposed of, they are useless to us now that we have the robot factories online. And while you inhabit the body of Marcy Wu the prophecy will not come to pass. We have them at Flip-Mate.” Andrias assured Darcy. “…Speaking of which… is… is Marcy in there?”
“Yes. There is her and then there is me. I have caged her in a fantasy far in the back of my mind…” Darcy stopped for a moment, and began to ponder on something. An idea had just leapt into their head. They fell silent. They ran all the different possibilities through simulations in their head.
“And… is my father there?”
“…Huh? Oh, I don’t- I don’t k- No. He and the others are gone. They are me now. I am Darcy.”
“…I… see.”
“…You know what Andrias? You might be onto something. This body may be a blessing in disguise. It provides us with certain advantages that I have not considered before. This Marcy might be of use to us.”
“How so, your excellency?”
“The problem is: We can’t find Pink, she’s small, hidden. We can’t just barge in and annihilate her. So, if we can’t come to her, let her come to us. We have something she wants after all.” Darcy chuckled to herself, excited by the scheme they put into motion, “Say, ‘Drias, you haven’t executed Olivia and Yoohoo yet, have you?”
“No, sir.”
“Excellent. Let them escape, make it look convincing.”
“Yes, my lord.” The king turned to leave the monitor room.
“Andrias.”
“Yes?”
“Leave the cupcake tray on your way out.”
To Be Continued.

✧・゚:  spin the bottle :・゚✧*:
/something i thought of while listening to rae sremmurd’s spin the bottle xx
fem!bodied reader, suggestive/slight NSFW(?), intoxication, spoilers
Tumblr media
A night of drinking with your friends turns into a game of spin the bottle with Yelena. However, she’s not known for playing by the rules.
It was supposed to be a normal day. Hange and the scouts were done with a full day’s work. This meant that the mysterious pair of Marleyan volunteers were also done for the day.
Jean, Mikasa, Sasha, Armin, Eren, Connie, and you had grown a habit of going for a few drinks once a week after work. Since the next day was off for all seven of you Connie had come up with an excellent idea:
“Guys, for the end of the workweek, let’s get a few more drinks than we usually do”
As overworked as you all were, everyone was on-board. Getting shitfaced with the friend group sounded like a good idea.
You were all supposed to meet up at the HQ, in a room within the most remote wing of the huge building. It was the usual spot for all mischief and it wasn’t just your group who used it. Jean once swore he had heard some very inappropriate happenings go down in that room and people used to sneak out bottles of wine from the cabinets from time to time. Before Captain Levi caught them, that is.
You had run down to your minuscule residence near the HQ after finishing your guarding shift. You didn’t have many occasions in your busy life where you could dress up. Especially now that you were constantly working to find a solution to the Eldian problem alongside the two new volunteers.
Yelena and Onyankopon.
Thanks to those two your nation had traveled years ahead when it came to technology, but also fashion.
You remember it like yesterday; the day when a detained soldier from Marley began selling his tailorings for the people of Paradis. It was new, to say the least. Evening wear, shoes, accessories. They were nothing you had ever seen before.
You had taken Mikasa down to help you pick out some clothes. She had laughed at you when you picked out a blood-red skin-tight dress.
“Where are you planning on wearing that?”
You knew she was right. You people nearly slept in uniform. But, even if you’d only get the chance to wear something like this once a blue moon, you still had to get it.
Now, finally, you had gathered the courage to wear this said dress. You paired it with a black heel and it was a wrap. Were you overdressed? Oh, yes. Definitely. Did you look good? That would be an understatement.
After freshening up and putting on your show-stopper outfit, you headed back towards the HQ.
As you were nearing the gates of the guarded building, a very familiar face was already there, waiting for you with arms crossed.
Once you reached her sights, she had to blink twice to make sure it really was you.
“Holy shit, (y/n)”, Mikasa exclaimed.
It was very unlike Mikasa to react so dramatically, so you began looking down at your outfit, fixing straps, and pulling the hem down. Suddenly you felt all too exposed and way out of your comfort zone.
“Too much?” you asked, cowering a bit.
Mikasa’s face contorted in confusion, trying to understand where your sudden uncertainty came from. Once she noticed your avoidant gaze and stepping feet, she hurried to explain herself.
“No, not at all! The dress, you in the dress”, she smiled slightly, “very nice.”
Despite being close friends, you and Mikasa weren’t the type to share heartfelt compliments or sappy words. The both of you just knew the compassion that was there. So, this was the greatest compliment you had gotten from the woman.
“Thank you, Mika”
You nudged her shoulder and greeted your comrade guarding the gate, before entering with newfound confidence.
You saw Armin at the courtyard and hurried to catch up to him. You giggled and keenly linked your arm with his. He, also, looked taken by surprise when his wide eyes landed on your figure. A glance towards your cleavage was enough to set his cheeks aflame.
Oblivious to your charms, you batted your eyelashes up at him.
“You got me the liqueur, didn’t you?”
Armin swallowed and went to check inside the paper bag he was carrying.
“Mhm”, the blonde hummed, “I-I’ve got it right here.”
You flashed Armin a smile of gratitude and marched inside in front of your friends.
Mikasa rolled her dark eyes at Armin’s ever-flushing face and hurried up to your speed.
Inside the castle, Sasha and Connie joined the three of you and together you made your way to the top floor.
As expected, the hallway to your ‘super secret’ drinking spot was quiet as ever, well, not including the slight bickering that sounded like Eren and Jean. Mikasa picked up her speed upon hearing Eren’s voice, leaving you and Armin to exchange knowing glances.
Once you were at the door, you froze for a bit. You heard a voice that didn’t belong to any of your friends. It was familiar, for sure, but still foreign enough that it made you feel uneasy in your sexy red dress.
Mikasa pushed the door open, and you were all greeted by Eren and Jean…
And Yelena.
She was a complete mystery to you. As an officer in the Scout Regiment, you had seen her around a lot. For some reason, she was always staring at you. But, being the mystery she was, you never could quite tell what was going on in her head. You could see her looking at you whilst talking to Onyankopon. The way she would always greet you when you walked into a room. Sometimes even going as far as to standing up when you came in as if you were a noble of sorts. And this surely didn’t go unnoticed by your friends.
All of your pals were holding in chuckles at the way you tensed up once you saw Yelena.
The volunteer was kneeling in front of a cabinet, pulling out wine bottles. Her long slender fingers traced across etiquettes. She read the names out loud as if to get a taste of the wines. The blonde picked out a bottle of red, got up, and popped the cork open with ease. After Jean and Eren began greeting you all, she became aware of your presence.
You could practically feel Yelena’s breath on your neck.
“Hey”
You whipped your body around with a quickness, tripping a bit and almost landing in Yelena’s arms. A small ‘woah’ escaped her quirked-up lips.
“I didn’t mean to startle you, Darling”
The tall woman placed down the bottle she had snuck out of the cabinet. Her arm was now extended in front of you.
“I’ve seen you around, I’m Yelena”
Darling, huh?
You had seen the Marleyan from a distance on multiple occasions, however, she had always been surrounded, whether it be by MP’s or Hange and Levi. This was your first real meeting, and wow, was she tall.
You had been oggling up at her dark eyes, for what felt like an eternity to you, but in reality, it had probably only been a few seconds.
“(y/n)”, you peeped and shook her hand.
As it turns out, Jean had invited Yelena to join you, Scouts, on this rendezvous. Whether it be out of personal or purely professional motives, you couldn’t tell. All you knew was that he was snickering while telling you and the bottle of liqueur Armin had handed to you started tasting like;
I wanna know what she’s about.
Armin put down the rest of the bottles and you visibly looked at the amount of alcohol in sheer amazement.
“I told you we were gonna get fucked up tonight”, Connie laughed at your reaction.
“Apparently”, you mumbled.
Eren and Jean had pushed two couches in front of each other and brought a few armchairs into the mix, so you were all sitting close to each other, drinks laid out on the table in front of you.
You had sat down next to Mikasa on the couch. On your other side was Yelena, legs spread in the armchair and a hand twirling a wine glass.
You remember when she had arrived on the island. The first thing you learned about her was that she didn’t hesitate. She shot her former comrade down, right then and there. You had also heard others talking about her trigger finger and how careless it could be. Still, now that she was sitting next to you on the brown leather, she looked nothing less than composed, sophisticated. She was intently listening to what the group was talking about. Chuckling slightly at Connie’s jokes, listening to Jean and Armin’s insights about the war.
But most importantly, Yelena was curious about you. She asked questions, made you laugh. Her dry humor was very much to your liking, even though others didn’t seem to find her quick-witted remarks as funny. Her lips were slightly tainted from the red wine and despite her face reddening from being slightly tipsy, she seemed sharp as ever.
As people began scattering around the room, getting more and more comfortable with alcohol in their systems, you and Yelena naturally shifted to a corner of a room. The tall woman was leaning her back against a wall. She had set her glass down and placed her hands in the pockets of her suit.
“So, what’s your story?”
You took a swig out of your bottle and wiped your lips with the back of your hand. Your face felt heavy, hot. And maybe you were just imagining it, but the tension between you and Yelena also felt like that. Heavy and hot. Or maybe you were just drunk.
“My story?” you grinned. “I kill titans, duh”
Yelena snorted at your drunken reply and gritted her teeth to suppress a laugh. You watched as her jaw flexed.
Her thumb came to wipe a droplet of alcohol from the corner of your mouth. It then disappeared inside her mouth.
“I’m sure you aren’t that one-dimensional”, Yelena pondered and tilted her head teasingly.
You froze up at the feeling of her thumb brushing against your lip. The sight of her licking the stickiness off of her own finger. Your stomach fluttered and your knees nearly buckled. Needless to say, your imagination was running free.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” you bit back.
Your drunken, hungry eyes scanned the tall woman from head to toe and with a spin, you had gone to mingle with Sasha and Connie.
Yelena ate it all up, the way you beat her at her own game. Left her standing there, in awe of you and the way your hips swung. The blonde loved watching you leave, even if she yearned to know more about you.
You didn’t even know where all of that confidence had come from. Maybe it was the compliments that you had been showered with or the extra attention Yelena was giving you. Either way, you were glowing.
Mikasa narrowed her eyes at you and cast a quick look at the lone Yelena who was taking big gulps from her wine.
“I see you”, Eren mouthed from next to Mikasa.
In Eren’s usual immature manner he began mimicking you:
“Oh my gosh, Yelena. How tall are you?” he dramatized your actions. “No fucking way!”
You punched Eren’s shoulder and groaned. You prayed that Yelena hadn’t paid any mind to Eren’s drunken words and the very loud laughter that ensued.
Jean quickly turned around to see what all the fuss was about.
“What are y’all up to?”
Eren held his shoulder. Damn, you could pack a punch.
“Nothing much”, Eren bit, “we were just discussing (y/n)’s interest in international relations”
“Jaeger!”
You don’t know how much time had passed, but you had all become very much drunk. At this point, no good ideas could pop up in anyone’s head. And the moment you had finished the last bits of your bottle, Eren grabbed it from you. He laid it on the table on its side and shot a devilish smile your way.
No, no fucking way was Eren being for real.
Turns out he indeed was being for real. In less than a minute you were all sitting in your earlier positions on the couches and armchairs, gathered around the table. Your hands began clamming up from nerves. Sure, this wouldn’t be the first time you lot were playing questionable games while drunk. You were all young and dumb.
This time was different, though. The main reason Eren had brought up spin the bottle was the fact that you and Yelena had seemingly hit it off. And, well, he was probably also horny. Let’s be honest.
Yelena was eyeing you, blinking slowly. She looked determined. You looked up at the blonde and she smirked, eyes set on her target. You cowered under her intense gaze, flustered to say the least. Your heart began beating faster and you could almost feel your stomach twisting. Out of habit, you shied away from the eye contact. Instead, you found yourself admiring the curve of her lips, that wicked smirk that painted them. You wondered how her lips would feel on yours and on your body. A quiet, pathetic whimper left your lips. Despite it being quiet, Yelena saw the way your pouty lips parted.
She aimed, she shot, and hit her target. But it was just the alcohol talking, right?
“You all know how this goes”, Eren spoke. “You spin the bottle and whoever it lands on, you make out with”
The titan shifter’s eyes glanced at yours and you nodded. Sure, no biggie.
“You’re the reason why it’s empty,” Yelena spoke, “spin the bottle.”
You gulped and obediently leaned over to spin the liqueur bottle, giving the blonde a perfect chance to admire the curvature of your backside.
With a flick of your wrist, the bottle began spinning on top of the mahogany table. It spun and spun. You could hear your heartbeat in your eardrums and feel the way Yelena was looking at you. Not the bottle, but you. She was dead serious.
The others were focused on the bottle. Too focused to notice the way Yelena had leaned over next to you, mere centimeters away from your face. The hairs on your neck stood on end and you couldn’t help but press your thighs together. Yelena looked down and noticed. A low chuckle rung next to your ear, making you even more heated.
The bottle stopped spinning. You looked at it, and then at the person who it had landed on.
Armin.
Armin’s face had, once again, taken the color of a turnip. He looked pleased, to say the least. Too pleased for Yelena’s liking. You didn’t see this, but Yelena was gritting her teeth and chugging her whole glass empty as Armin walked up to you.
You got up and straightened your dress, noticing it was riding a bit too high up your thighs. Armin glanced at your legs and blinked before his hands found your hips. He squeezed them softly and sighed. He was definitely feening. He looked at your eyes. Your long lashes batted up at him, just like they had done earlier outside. Armin just had to taste you.
You broke the distance between the two of you and it wasn’t long before Armin’s fearless tongue was exploring the surfaces of yours. Your breath hitched as his hands traveled all over your ass. And you hate to say this about your dear friend, but he was so good at what he was doing. He was smoothing over all the right places, clouding your senses with the way his teeth nipped at your neck and how his tongue came to soothe over those spots.
You could hear the hollering of your friends. The only person who was sitting quietly was Yelena. She wanted to strangle Armin.
Somewhere in the darkest depths of your mind you were getting off on the thought that Yelena was watching all of this go down. You wondered, how she felt.
Reluctantly, Armin pulled away. You smiled at him, completely drunk, but now from the heated kiss.
As you separated from each other, your friend’s teasing became more evident. You saw Jean nudging Armin’s side and Eren bumping his fist.
Yelena was burning a hole into Armin’s back. Her hand was shaking from the force she was putting into holding her glass and if this were to be some corny movie, it would’ve shattered right there. And if looks could kill, Armin would have long been dead.
Yelena’s grip on her wine glass loosened the minute you turned to look at her, lipstick smudged, eyes watered and breathless pants leaving your mouth. She hated the fact that she wasn’t the reason you looked fucked up like that. But, that was the nature of the game. Good thing she was damn good at playing. So, she faked a half-hearted smile and topped up her glass.
You had seen it all, Jean and Connie, Sasha and Armin. You had witnessed all of the weirdest combinations, but you could tell from the moans and gasps that everyone was having a mighty good time. You, on the other hand, were growing impatient.
You weren’t the only impatient one though. As soon as Yelena had to spin, she went for it.
Mikasa wasn’t the one Yelena was waiting to kiss, but she wasn’t too bothered by her fate either. At least, that’s how it seemed to you. Mikasa looked at you quickly, before getting up and there Yelena was. Ready to kiss your best friend. You had no idea what had gotten into you, I mean, you barely knew the Marleyan. Yet, all you wanted to do was to be kissed like that by her.
She caressed Mikasa like she was some fragile flower, but the way her mouth worked on her neck, how she licked the woman’s jaw. There was nothing soft about that. You were jealous. Utterly jealous. Jealous to the core. Of course, she was happy to get it on with Mikasa, she was stunning. And you were you. Despite all the confidence you had had earlier on, you felt so small in this situation.
The game went on and you had seen things that, well, you won’t be able to unsee for a while. After a very awkward kiss between Eren and Yelena, it was the tall woman’s turn to spin.
Your heart fluttered at the thought of the bottle landing on you.
Yelena leaned over and reached her long arm over to the table. She was taking her sweet time, wrapping her slim fingers around the bottle. She looked around to inspect where everyone was seated, before flicking the bottle to motion. The woman then yanked at her collar, a couple of buttons flying open in progress.
Anticipation was at its peak once the bottle began spinning ever-so-slowly. As it had almost come to a halt, Yelena was leaned over, elbows resting on her knees, arms folded. You could hear her whispering a small come on.
And once again, fate and the bottle had turned. Not in either of your’s favor though, as the neck of the bottle was pointed at Jaeger.
Yelena would be damned to make out with the man again.
She looked at your pouted lips and couldn’t just take it anymore.
“Fuck this stupidass game”, she groaned.
Her hand went back on the bottle and she angrily turned the thing so it was facing directly at you.
“I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to-”, Sasha began but was cut off by Eren.
“Shut up, Sasha!”
Yelena licked her lips and slowly sat back, legs sprawled.
“Come ‘ere, Darling”
You shivered as you got up from your seat on the couch. Everything in Yelena was inviting you in, the way she smelled, how she looked, her voice. It was very clear to you that you wanted her. You had tunnel vision. Everything around you dissappeared, all you saw was the tall woman, how her veiny hands grabbed her slacks in anticipation, how her jaw tightened at the sight of you. Just you.
You were definitely milking this situation. Yelena enjoyed the view, don’t get me wrong. She just wasn’t the most patient person, especially when it came to someone like you. All those desperate looks in office rooms, the quiet ‘hello’s’ she had garnered from you had built up to this.
Once you were within reaching distance, Yelena wasted no time as she closed the space between the two of you. She dragged you into her lap. She was watching you so intently. How you’d whimper when she touched your breast, when her hands slid down your waist and reached dangerously close to your ass. She wanted to see all of your reactions.
“Please..”
That was it. Yelena’s trademark grin flashed on her face before she grabbed your ass and pulled you into her. You crashed into her chest and took a hold of her wide shoulders as she completely seated you so you were straddling her thighs. Thighs that twitched ever so lightly.
You’re right, Yelena had caressed Mikasa gently. You know it now because she was ravishing your body with her large hands. Squeezing, grabbing. She wanted to have all of you to herself at that instant. There was nothing gentle about that.
You were completely at her mercy. All you could do was scrape her shoulders each time her thigh moved underneath you or when her tongue lapped with yours. Small moans left your mouth between kisses and encouraged Yelena to pull you closer by the neck.
You seriously forgot there were other people in the room, but as you began grinding against her thigh, she pulled away, amused by your neediness. You sighed at the loss of her lips and there she had you how she wanted you. Lips parted, soft pants escaping.
She wiped your lipstick off of her face.
Calm and collected she smiled from ear to ear and sat back with you on her lap, arms resting behind her head. The woman looked rather pleased with herself.
“So, now, (y/n)”, Yelena cocked her head. “What’s your story?”

hello! i really enjoy ur content and i read that ur requests are open, so is it okay if i can request something where levi and the reader had an argument, and the rest of the scouts are very aware of it because of the very cold and scary aura coming from them, and so the squad tries various ways to set them up so they can make up with another? thank you!!😁
a/n: ahh first of all thank you! second off, i love this idea omg 🙏 also the reader is another captain!!
levi x reader
“don’t die on me.”
cw: swearing, one kiss scene, mentions of death (barely)
The scouts immediately knew something was wrong when you entered the dining area. It was like there was a dark aura floating around your body that caused everyone within a 4 foot vicinity of you to scatter away like startled birds. Your eyebrows were furrowed and your back was hunched. You stalked into the room and sank down beside Hange who seemed rather unfazed by your cold attitude.
“Oi. Y/N. What’s up with the murderous look in your eye? I think you made the scouts shit themselves.” They chuckled, biting into their bread and looking at you with a hint of amusement twinkling in their eyes.
You lip twitched downward as you scoffed, “Ask shorty.”
Hange made a noise of surprise that you ignored, turning back to your food. You were not in the mood to be pestered. Picking at your food with distain, you tuned out the rest of the room. Due to this, you missed the short raven-haired man walking into the room with the same cold presence that you were amitting. You felt his eyes burning holes into your head but refused to look up, you didn’t wanna give that bastard the time of day.
Levi scoffed when you ignored him, grabbing his plate and settling down at the opposite end of your table. Hange nearly rolled their eyes at the pettiness the two of you were displaying.
Clearing their throat, the titan enthusiast spoke up, “Trouble in paradise?”
“Shut up.” You both countered in sync, still refusing to acknowledge eachother.
The two of you were too stubborn to admit that you were wrong. Maybe neither of you were in the wrong but after the shouting match that took place last night, you didn’t feel like immediately making amends. You had tried to express to Levi how scared you were that he was going to die on one of these missions, however your tone was quite harsh and Levi misread it. He took it as you not having faith in his abilities which was a punch to the gut for the stubborn Captain. He in return, argued that you were running the same risk on missions and since you weren’t nearly as strong as him, you had an even higher risk of getting hurt. Frustrated that he insulted your abilities and didn’t see your point, you stormed out of his office, slamming the door behind you.
The two of you hadn’t spoken since the blowup last night and it was now mid-afternoon the next day. You were in charge of training the scouts this afternoon and due to the anger boiling up inside of you, you put them through a particularly rigorous training course. All of them were clutching their sides and panting heavily when you finally dismissed them.
“Is it just me or does Captain Y/N seem a little harsh today?” Connie spoke up as he downed a glass of water.
“Yeah, that training course kicked my ass. I think they had a fight with Levi, I heard some of the soldiers talking about it.” Jean replied.
Sasha was quiet for a minute before she finally spoke up, “I have an idea!” She exclaimed with a mischievous glint in her eye.
“That’s not good.” Armin commented quietly.
Later that night, Sasha had cornered you and told you there was scary noises coming from a broom closet and had asked for help checking it out. You reluctantly agreed, only because it was getting late and you wanted to get to bed. The two of you went to the closet, footsteps echoing across the quiet halls.
Entering the small room, you spoke, “Hmm. Sasha there’s nothing in here, are you sure-.” You got cut off due to the door being slammed in your face and locked shut.
Jiggling the handle aggressively, you yelled, “Sasha Braus I swear to god, if you don’t let me out of here it’s no bread for a week!”
Sasha gulped but stayed strong, hoping Armin was on his way with Levi. Ten minutes later, Armin showed up... without Levi. Sasha’s eyes nearly popped out of her head, “Armin, where the hell is Levi?!”
Armin scratched the back of his neck, “He wouldn’t come. Said I should ‘get some balls and go look at the noise by myself’.”
Sasha sheepishly opened the door to a very angry Captain, crying as you yelled and told her she wasn’t getting bread for a week. You’d almost felt bad if it weren’t for the fact that several spiders decided to crawl up your leg while you were trapped inside the miserable closest.
The next day, you were in an even worse mood because of the broom closet accident. So, the scouts went back to planning the reunion of their two grumpy captains.
The new plan consisted of getting the two of you within ten feet of each other, which proved difficult. Eren and Jean would both ask for combat training from the two of you and hoped that maybe being close to each other would spark a conversation between you two.
However, the plan backfired when seeing eachother made the two of you even angrier so you both fought the boys aggressively which resulted in Jean and Eren laying on their asses as the two of you stalked off in seperate directions.
You were quite grumpy at this point, snapping at the smallest things and taking things out on the wrong people. You knew it was wrong but you couldn’t help it; it felt like everyone was trying to piss you off.
By now, Hange had grown tired of you and Levi’s negative energy and the beat-up scouts. So finally, they decided to step in.
They found you in your office working on paperwork and quickly grabbed your hand, rudely dragging you away from your work.
“What the hell Hange!” You exclaimed, trying to turn back to your work but Hange had a suprisingly strong grip.
“Sorry! But I need to show you this thing I’ve been working on. It’s urgent!” They explained as they pulled you through the halls. They stopped in front of a random room, opening the door and shoving you in.
“Oi, four eyes, where is the ‘urgent thing’ you needed to show me?” You gasped as you realized Levi was in the room that Hange had just thrown you into.
Levi’s eyes widened when he noticed you in the room and he started shaking his head, “Don’t you dare Hange-.”
SLAM.
Hange locked the door, leaving the two of you sitting alone in your tension. The silence was heavy as you avoided eye contact, plotting the many ways you could get back at the scientist for this later. You were so caught up in your own thoughts you didn’t even realize Levi was staring at you till he spoke up.
“Do you ever plan to let us talk this out or are you just gonna be an angry brat for the rest of your life?” His tone was cold.
Your eyes snapped up to meet his grey ones, searching them for any emotion but you were met with nothing, his walls were up. “What is there to talk about? You made it clear how you feel.”
“How I feel?” He questioned.
“That I’m not strong enough for you. Maybe I’m not humanity’s strongest but I’m talented and that deserves to be recognized. I’m not gonna let you shit on my talent just because I hurt your ego. Which by the way, I don’t even know why you thought I was attacking your skills. I just want you to be safe and I don’t know why you can’t just- MHPM.” Your rant was cut off midway by the feeling of warm lips against yours.
You froze for a moment before returning the kiss, running your hands up into his hair and opening your mouth to deepen the kiss. Levi’s hands snaked around you waist, pulling you tight against his chest. This continued for a few more seconds before you pulled away, cheeks flushed and lips swollen.
Levi spoke up, “I know you’re a talented soldier, it’s something I really respect about you. I shouldn’t have phrased it the way I did, I just... I don’t want to lose you. So, I want you to be the best because then, my chances of loosing you are less.” You looked at him in shock.
His grey eyes showed love and ... fear. The fear of loosing you like he’d lost so many. Your chest tightened at the sight. Tears pricked in your eyes as you pulled him into another hug.
“You don’t have to worry about me, okay? I’m gonna fight with everything I got to make sure I come home to you. You just make sure you do the same, don’t go dying on me.” Your speech was slightly muffled by his shirt but he nodded nonetheless.
“Yay! The lovebirds finally made up! Good! I was worried you were gonna kill the scouts.” Hange laughed from the other side of the now opened door.
a/n: this ain’t the greatest but i wrote it at midnight so yk 😐👋

Jean Kirschtein x reader | Friends, or is it more?
the more i watch aot, the more i love jean... his moments of self-doubt and his moved smile truly are heart-wrenching 🥺
fandom: Attack on Titan pairing: Jean Kirschtein x reader summary: Where you realise that you’re falling for your best friend, whose heart is already taken—or so you thought. Fortunately, what becomes a saddening party can also turn into an unexpected occasion to make things right. word count: 3.3k
Sometimes, belonging to the Scouts regiment came with something that, from up close, resembled a flicker of momentary joy. You had, of course, been aware of the harrowing shadow of a reputation that trudged behind the wings of liberty: danger, death and despair; the three Ds accompanying your pledge to humanity drummed their deafening beat alongside your horse's frenzied gallop whenever you took place in the formation that led you outside the walls, the wind hurling through your hair and your senses at the height of their tension, ready to signal the approach of a titan at any given minute, bracing your body for every possible threat. You had faith in commander Erwin, had faith in your comrades—if giving your life was necessary for your cause, then, you had silently promised yourself and your people, you would give it with eyes wide open and undefeated fierceness, be it in the heat of battle or any other way. The wings embroidered upon your cape represented your beliefs more intensely than any word—as long as there was a Scout left, hope would live still; blossom upon the tall grass that freely grew upon the tombs of your fallen comrades. Even the smallest victory made you believe that a change could be made—and even the smallest victory was celebrated in the battalion as a sign that bode well for the foreseeable future. It was such celebrations, though as small as the victories they marked, that made room for moments of joy the regiment could barely encounter at other times. And when those moments came, life suddenly appeared coated with a hundred colours, full of humorous idiocies and heedless amusement that stirred up in you all the youthful glee of not caring about a thing in the world but the people around you and the drink in your hand.
"You guys won't believe the position we found Bertholdt in this morning!"
Seated beside Armin, who himself flanked Eren as Mikasa had naturally settled on the other side of their childhood friend, you leaned further on the wooden table of the barrack in order to hear your brunet friend more distinctly, his excited voice reviving the conversation at once. Drawn by a cheerful and carefree sort of curiosity, which was well fueled by the general bright mood, finding out about Bertholdt's daily sleeping position suddenly appeared like the most fascinating event one could discuss, especially when followed by the boys' weather previsions based on their comrade's often strange and tangled up poses. You exchanged an amused look with Mikasa, and though your friend's features remained almost as impassive as usual, the vivid twinkle you caught through the dark shine of her eyes mirrored your cheery behaviour; Armin's face, on the other hand, wore an expressive smile, the blond boy remembering vividly the description of Bertholdt that Eren began recounting.
But even as you laughed at the image of Bertholdt's knees somehow managing to stay bent as he slept on his stomach, the upper part of his legs outstretched toward the sky in an unusual—to say the least—position, your gaze went on sweeping the room, in search of the one person you couldn't wait to chat with again, though you also got along really well with Armin, Mikasa and Eren. The only problem was, said person was not that fond of the self-righteous brunet ball of energy sat at your table, so you were not surprised to find him in Conny and Sasha's company instead, talking animatedly. You had already had the opportunity to chat with Jean earlier that evening, the two of you having grown so close to each other that it would've been impossible for you not to cross paths tonight, but you wondered whether you would drift toward each other again before the makeshift party came to an end; Captain Levi had been surprisingly unbothered by your shy request to celebrate today's mission's success, accepting it on the sole condition that only soft drinks were to be consumed—Armin suspected that Commander Erwin was responsible for granting the new recruits' wishes, as they had after all already endured quite a lot during the expedition to retrieve Eren from Annie.
"We better watch out for that sleeping position of Bertholdt's, maybe it means good luck," Armin observed lightheartedly, taking a sip from his drink.
"You should keep a notebook with all of them, and maybe you'll crack the code someday," you added with a chuckle, the three of you glancing at Bertholdt.
Having your 104th comrades with you in the Scouts regiment really did bring you a lot of comfort to help you navigate these new uncharted waters, though it also made it acutely unbearable to imagine that some of them might not make it back next time; Marco served as your first and most painful lesson that even those dearest to you were never safe. It was after the freckled boy's death that you and Jean had truly bonded, brought together by the devastating loss of your kindhearted friend. You had become each other's rocks since then—checking up on each other after training sessions and expeditions, playful teasing and calling each other all sorts of funny nicknames rooted into the core of your friendship, giving it all its strength. And it was when you had been injured during the 57th expedition and Jean had almost hysterically ran up to you afterwards, cursing with no restraint and holding your arm so tightly it hurt when he helped you limp toward the medical wing, that you had been hit for the first time, though still shaken from slaying a titan and the bloody cut burning your leg, by how grateful you were to have made it out alive, to have Jean by your side. It was then that you had realised that there was no one else you would rather be with than him—it was something more than anything you've ever felt before, as your timidly pounding heart had been reminding you ever since.
But another thing unavoidable when being friends with Jean, of course, was the bickering between your comrade and Eren—and this evening was no different from any other week. A few minutes later, as you engaged in a pleasant conversation with Armin, your attention was drawn by the thunderous eruption of voices that suddenly shook the walls of the barrack, making many pairs of surprised eyes turn toward the belligerent protagonists of the argument. It just had to be Eren and Jean, hadn't it? Like the rest of your comrades, you couldn't possibly guess where the spark that ignited this new inferno came from, but with these two, a valid reason often wasn't needed; to the greatest despair of the 104th, both boys possessed magic powers to summon reasons to fight out of thin air. At the present moment, both Eren and Jean were actively yelling at each other, shooting names and accusations back and forth.
However, the lack of rational incidents to cause such a scene didn't mean that there was no deeper reason for Jean's outbursts, just like Eren's counter-attacks originated from his legendary stubbornness already well-known to his fellow comrades. You had been suspecting for a long time that Jean mainly proclaimed his hatred towards Eren because of Mikasa. Before the 57th expedition, when both of you were in a playful and mischievous mood, you would even friendlily tease Jean about his soft spot for the dark haired young woman, which he hadn't hidden very well ever since Mikasa and he met for the first time. It was quite unfortunately, really, that your heart had finally chosen Jean, of all people, to fall for—as if you weren't well aware of how much he admired and liked Mikasa! And this mascarade surely had to have been orchestrated to get her attention, just like many other failed schemes of Jean's, as Mikasa barely seemed interested in anyone but Eren, Armin, sometimes Sasha, and you.
"There he goes again..." You muttered downheartedly, sparing a glance at your best friend.
"It's Eren and Jean, after all..." Armin responded with a sorry smile, squirming on the bench to get further away from Eren, who was now up on his feet and facing Jean with balled up fists. Mikasa watched the two boys through squinted eyes, at the ready to jump and knock over Jean if needed—at least, your friend's plan to get her attention had succeeded.
"I know how this is going to end," you told Armin under your breath, averting your gaze from the fighters. "You know what, I think it's right about time for me to head off. I don't want to witness Captain Levi tearing their heads off for wrecking havoc in here."
"Really? Don't you want to stay a little longer? I'm sure it won't come to this!"
"I don't even want to know. Goodnight, Armin, thank you for the nice chat," you excused yourself, fleeing from the barrack swift as a cat, only the passage of a furtive ray of light on the floor signifying that the door to the room had been opened as quickly as it was closed.
You knew better than to cling onto something you could not reach, so why endure the spectacle of such a foolish play?
*
Outside, nighttime had descended upon the camp with its soothing quietness. Nothing in sight but the warm flutter of torches fixed upon the barracks; nothing ringing in your ears but the chirping melody of a cricket's song, its echo delicately carried away by the evening wind. No ecstatic shouting, no blaring laughter. Nothing but a lone constellation half-veiled by the grey trail of clouds that unhurriedly floated upon the dark depths of the sky. No Jean, no Eren. You took a lungful of fresh air before a long sigh lifted off your chest—if only things could go back to the way they had been. Back when Jean was nothing but a fun and (sweetly) annoying horse-faced boy to be around, and no cause for heartache.
You took some more steps ahead, the muffled sounds you could still hear from inside dying out as you walked further away. Although you had told Armin that your time to go had come, you didn't feel like getting back to bed right now; actually, you didn't feel like anything but escaping for a little while.
At last, you decided to retrace your steps, taking a seat on the ground beside the barrack you had abandoned, your back pressed against its wooden surface. On the other side, the cacophony hadn't ceased, only muffled by the wall that separated you from the inside mayhem. Had Jean and Eren opted for a fistfight denouement by now? Would Mikasa intervene?
But before you had enough time to explore the many scenarios your imagination could sketch out, the door beside which you had settled opened abruptly, a wide stream of light flooding the ground at once. In the blink of an eye, a visibly disconcerted figure appeared on the threshold, freezing as they took a look around before rapidly bifurcating to the side in order to follow one of the torchlit paths...
"Jean?"
"Y/n?! What are you doing here?" Jean rushed toward you as soon as he noticed your silhouette from behind the shadows, discovering your hiding-place. "I didn't even see you leave..."
"I'm sorry, I was starting to feel tired." Touched by the fact that Jean had left the room to look for you, you attempted to give him a plausible excuse.
"C'mon, you can get through a day of training, but you can't get through one of the only party nights we're lucky enough to have?" Jean taunted, taking a seat next to you. "What's the matter?" he gently elbowed you, throwing his neck back so he could press his head against the wall behind. "Just when I was about to defeat Eren..."
"Defeat Eren, really? Statistically, it's more likely for Captain Levi to smile than for us to see that happen," you laughed tiredly, trying not to think about how Jean would probably soon get back to Mikasa and the others.
"Yeah, yeah, tease me all you want, it'll happen. Someday this idiot will get his ass handed to him."
Closing your eyes, you only had it in you to maintain the forced smile painted over your lips while fighting back the rush of stinging tears that suddenly overwhelmed you. Why did Jean had to come and check up on you now of all times, right when you were more than ever convinced that you were starting to fall for him, and it couldn't be clearer that his every move longed for someone else?
"You know, I was going to get him, but Mikasa can get scary..." It was as if he could decipher the riddles of your mind, unaware of the way your heart convulsed. "I wouldn't want to cross her. Why would she hang out with this idi—"
"Look, Jean, if you've come here to rant about this, then you can leave," you ended up snapping, biting back more acre words . "I'm tired, okay? Just get back to the fun inside."
"You... You don't feel like talking?" Jean's voice softened from incomprehension, trying to read your tone. "I'm sorry, I didn't know it was that bad. Hey, you really don't want to talk?"
You shook your head in response, scolding your own self for such pathetic behaviour. Jean couldn't possibly know about your suppressed feelings, so your attitude must indeed appear more than confusing, especially since you were so used to confiding in each other and cheering each other up, for the past weeks more than ever. In the wake of Icarus's ascend towards the sun, untethered and naive, your wings of wax were melting... But who could've predicted, as much as a month earlier, that the loveable idiot by your side would doom you to downfall?
"Okay... Well...," the young man ran a distracted hand through his hair, frowning as his jaw clenched. "Then I'll talk. You know, I had an idea for tonight," he began after collecting his thoughts, breaking through the hesitant seconds that had temporarily numbed his tongue. "It was our first successful expedition after that near-death experience after all, so I thought I'd better make the most of it and make tonight's celebration useful. Who knows when we'll get another one. Maybe you're right and it's actually more likely to see Captain Levi smile than to get another one of these again soon." Jean's speech ran freely now, his torrent of sentences—for the moment still not making clear sense as to where they were headed to—submerging you in the familiar flow of his voice. As of late, your greatest fear had become to miss its distress call in the ranging mist of a battle, to watch Jean's body be torn to shreds as you could only scream until everything else vanished... "So I thought I'd be brave, for once." He took a deep breath in, fingers nervously wrapped around the back of his own neck. "There's this person I like."
There it was. Somehow, you knew that it would be coming—after the stunt he pulled earlier with Eren...
"They're much braver than I am, but they probably know that already," Jean went on, chuckling self-depreciatingly—he knew he could poke at himself in your company without being ashamed of disclosing his flaws. "They wouldn't hesitate to come and rescue me, even if I were grabbed by a titan. And they're really beautiful, too—"
"Look, Jean, if you've come to talk about Mikasa, just save it," you could only murmur. "Pl—"
"And, quite surprisingly, they're also a dumbass!" Jean didn't let you finish either, shifting his head so he could see your face better. "But that's something both of us have in common." Taken aback by such a strange confession, you opened your eyes to take an intrigued look at Jean while hoping that he wouldn't notice the tears you had at last blinked away. You met his gaze head-on, even among the shadows that coiled over his face.  "Because they think that I still have a thing for a girl I liked for two weeks, while I've been talking about them all along."
"What—"
"You know, you're the one who makes being called "horse-face" the funniest," Jean cracked an unsure smile at you, fiddling with his hands. "Alright, it's the bravest I'll ever be, so time to crawl in a hole and die now," he immediately added more anxiously, looking like the unexpected nature of his confession had stricken him for the first time.
"Wait, Jean, no!" It was as if, for the first time in a span of unending minutes, you could breathe again. "Wait, is this... Is this for real?" You asked in what came out almost a whisper, fearing, in this instant where your hopes balanced on the edge of a precipice of churning doubt and elation, that this was a joke you would not be able to forgive. Jean was better than this, but what if?—the thought drilled into your heart.
"Well... Yes. I'm sorry if I've made things awkward, it's Armin who told you might like me too and—"
"Hey, hey," your hand found its way to Jean's arm in a comforting touch, preventing him from leaving as he made a move to flee after blurting out an apology. Judging by your frantic heartbeat, there was no way you could be the calmer person in this situation—and yet, Jean somehow managed to look even more distressed than you at the moment. "I do like you." It was your turn to get embarrassed, which your flushed cheeks openly betrayed, illuminated by the nearby torch's flitting flame. "But Mikasa...?"
"Y/n, I haven't liked Mikasa for longer than a few weeks. I mean, yes, she's beautiful and strong, but so are you. And you're so much more than that. You're so fun to be around, I haven't laughed so hard with anyone but you. Unlike me, you're not scared to be brave and kind, but with you, I don't need to think which face I need to put on, because I know we don't have to pretend to be someone we're not when we're around each other. And when you got injured... I couldn't stand the thought of losing you. I made myself a promise then that I would tell you, and tonight seemed like the right time. I've been talking to Armin after the expedition and I think he kind of guessed that I liked you, and that you liked me too—I don't even know how or why, but he told me he thought you did. That's not exactly how I thought it'd go but... Trying to get your attention by getting in a fight with Eren wasn't that good of a plan, I guess."
"So that's what it was...! You really are an idiot, Jean Kirschtein," you declared vivaciously, but the moved smile that brightened your face spoke louder than the fond insults Jean and you would fire at each other. "We need to watch out for Armin, he will uncover everyone's secrets, at this rate..." You joked before regaining a more serious attitude, your emotions truly swayed by your friend's avowal. "The expedition changed everything for me too. I realised that I didn't want to go without you. No, I realised that I didn't want to go at all—I wanted to stay. With you."
"Pff, get in line," Jean grinned in spite of the emotional look on his face, sighing in relief. "I've been liking you for months."
"Seriously?"
"Absolutely. Do you think I go out of my way to check up on everyone after a battle or that everyone's mom gets the privilege of being the centre of my skilfully crafted jokes?"
"Shut up," you laughed wholeheartedly, your shoulder against Jean's. "Your mom's a hoe."
"Very clever," he teased you in return, face glowing from a joy even more vivd than the fiery sparks that chased the night's spectres away. “I bang yours every night.”
You burst out laughing, rolling your eyes—mom jokes were a must in your goofy friendship. A friendship that, with a bit of unpredicted luck, was on the verge of becoming something more.

I have so many problems with Attack on Titan, but right now I want to talk about the illogical world-building.
Giant creatures who only eat humans and only have one 'Achilles Heel' to take them out. Got it.
And you want to fight them with swords?
How did two swords win? They went through the trouble to build a whole, physics defying harness contraption to make them fly?
Tumblr media
There were so many other weapons they could have used if they couldn't get to 'the weak spot.'
Step One, discover electricity. Step Two, build a goddamn fence.
Do they breathe? I don't remember, but poisonous gas. (Not in a civilian setting obviously and you'd need a breathing apparatus.)
Invent the flamethrower.
Too much to ask? Fine, here's some less technical solutions:
Caltrops.
Boiling oil poured over the side of the Wall.
Sulfuric acid and other dangerous chemical compounds that will break down organic matter. (There's gotta be a chemist somewhere here.)
Put spikes on the Wall.
Survey Corps all gathered together in a concentrated group to lure the titans in to a trap...coulda used that tactic to dig a pit trap, no?
Set the titans on fire.
Let's also address the fact the Survey Corps was completely useless by existing as the living embodiment of Einstein's definition of insanity. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” That 'brilliant idea' of Armin's where they travel to Shiganshina at night because the titans are less active..............you're telling me....that in a hundred years...nobody else thought of that?!
The government and public were right; they were a strain on resources and brought little benefit to society. If they wanted to be useful, the purpose of the expeditions should've been more forage/hunting based in order to bring food back to a starving populace. And there would have been food. The people of Wall Maria had to abandon their homes within a twelve hour or less span, so there is no conceivable way everyone could have brought all their livestock with them. Survey Corps could've been protecting civilians as they rounded up lost cattle, pigs, chickens, sheep, etc. And Sasha might’ve gone down in history as the greatest Scout of all time.
Another thing that doesn't add up: the textile industry. With as much land as they had, the pasture land food-clothing ratio was not adequate for the population.
There are not enough cows!
Based on available materials, I assume the ODM harness and boots are made of leather. With the limited space for cattle, that supply could not meet the demand at the rate the Scouts were being killed off. (They were definitely recycling dead people's boots and gear.) That's not even taking into account regular people who need footwear or the countless other things that require leather: saddles and other horse tack, gloves, tools, heavy protective aprons for factory workers or smiths, etc.
Cotton requires a long growing season. Do they have that? Linen comes from flax seed. You'd need space to grow that and flax doesn't have much nutritional use other than soup. Same goes for jute. Wool is a possibility, but is everything made of wool? What about silk? Do they have silk worms? What are the wealthy wearing?
We can probably rule out synthetic and mineral fabrics as I don't think they have the technology.
Natural resources: They use firearms and cannons, which means there has to be a sulfur mine somewhere to make gunpowder. Except naturally-occurring sulfur is most commonly found near volcanic regions. Volcano on that island? Maybe, if sulfur was one of the 'resources' the Marley people were after.
Where are they getting the alcohol? There's a food shortage and no sane nation is going to allow citizens to plant vineyards on land that can be used for crops and they're not going to use grain for beer when it could be used for bread. I get there was corruption in the government, but limited space is limited space.
Another thing I would like to point out is no matter how many times the Founding Titan suppressed knowledge of the outside world, any mathematician with enough determination could have gone rogue and calculated the size of their world. Despite what we were told in kindergarten, people did not 'discover' the earth was round when Columbus 'discovered' America and nobody believed the earth was flat. (He also didn't discover America, but that's not what we're here for.) Ancient Greek mathematician, librarian, astronomer, scholar Eratosthenes of Cyrene determined the circumference of the earth by comparing the sun's position in the sky in relation to two different points on earth.
He was off by 2%.
Why is this important? The old order of the Walls was very much greed-based. When word of exactly how much land (and wealth) they were missing out on got out, the merchant guilds would have had their own coup against the king.

spectrum ~ armin arlert x reader
armin arlert x reader; 3.2k words; fluff; soulmate au summary: he lights up your world, too bad you don’t realize until it’s too late.
masterlist
Tumblr media
It truly is one of the most tragic realities of the world. Some say it’s that you don’t know who that person is until you lose them, others say that it’s losing your person and the vividness of the world in one swoop.
But if this person truly is your soulmate, wouldn’t the world be dull and grey without them anyway? Maybe that’s your sense confirming what your heart already knows.
You used to pester your parents with questions about this phenomenon.
“So how are you supposed to know they’re your soulmate.”
Your parents smiled at each other, “Well peanut, you’ll just have to let your heart guide you.”
“But what if you choose the wrong person? And don’t realize it until they die?”
“Then let yourself love freely and fully.”
You didn’t appreciate their roundabout answers, but with time you realized it’s because they didn’t have the answers. No one did. No one knows why all the color drains from your eyes as your soulmate’s life drains simultaneously. Only that it happens.
You often wonder which of your parents lost their color first as they were devoured by titans. Or if they even lost their color at all. Maybe there was some sad soul out there that blinked one day and suddenly saw in greys not knowing their soulmate was being eaten in a small southern town of Wall Maria, as their child watched.
You think that’s the worst fate. Not knowing who that soulmate was, just that they’re gone. At least if your beloved dies and you can’t see the green grass or blue sky, you’re comforted knowing you were each other’s greatest loves.
But why are you thinking about this at a time like now? As your knee deep in pig shit on the new queen’s farm?
“Sasha! The scraps are for the animals!”
Oh right. He’s why.
You glance up as Armin is trying to pull Sasha away from the bucket of table scraps meant for the pigs.
Armin had come into your life in the most unexpected way. Being that he knocked into you mid air during an ODM gear training. His momentum had caused you to lose your grip and fall, luckily landing on a tree branch instead of the ground twenty meters below.
He was able to readjust himself and land feet first on the branch, “I’m so sorry! I didn’t look which way I was going!”
You ignored his babbling apology, more concerned with trying to regain your breathing while clutching your leg that had taken the brunt of the impact. Rolling to onto your stomach you tried to rise to you knees, but the weight was too much, and you fell back down.
“Arlert! ___!” You both looked down to see Shadis below, “You’ll make a delicious snack if you keep this up! Now move!” He screamed, not even bothering to hear your replies before kicking his horse into a trot.
You blush now thinking about the way you brushed off Armin’s offer to help but instead pushed forward through the pain, lip bleeding by the time you laned from how hard you bit into it and leg throbbing from the movement.
Armin was able to find you later that evening in the infirmary, which you weren’t sure how he even knew you’d be there. None of your friends overlapped, and you were sure you didn’t stick out to anyone, so it’s not like someone would notice your absence from supper.
None the less Armin brought you a serving of the disgusting food that was passed of as a meal for the night, with an apology on his lips.
You expected it to be a one time thing, guilty for the mishap in training that day. But he stuck around. Finding you on free afternoons, asking you to partner up in trainings, small waves during mealtimes.
Your friends would tease you about him, comparing him to a lost puppy. You didn’t think much of it until his friends started with the comments. You would overhear your name being tossed around, glances your way, and Armin’s always face flushing a deep red.
But he never said anything to you, never acted differently than he always has. You chock it up to friendly teasing, probably what they do to each other all the time. But that doesn’t stop you from reading into his comments and touches deeper. Doesn’t stop you from imagining kisses and touches you could be sharing if he ever gave you such indication.
It goes on like this for the final years of training and all throughout your time in the Scouts together. You don’t mind though, it’s more than enough to be by his side as he tells you about his dreams and he listens to yours.
Maybe this is what your parents meant by love freely and fully.
“You should say something.”
You jump out of your skin and whip around to see Historia standing behind you, “What?”
Her eyes glance to where yours were recently transfixed, “Before it’s too late.” You shift uncomfortably, averting your eyes. You know about the morning Historia woke up to a world of gray. Everyone does, her cries were loudly heard throughout the farm.
“It’s not like that.” You answer.
“It doesn’t have to be to make it any less real.”
You glance back at Armin who has given up on controlling Sasha. He must feel your eyes because he looks up, smiling when he sees you’re looking.
Your heart flutters. How could it not?
But you don’t say anything. There’s too much happening. You can see how the stress is bearing down on his shoulders and under his eyes. He’s dragged into meeting after meeting with Commander Erwin and Captain Levi. Squad leader Hange picks his brain every free moment he has. He’s comforting Eren who’s still struggling to comprehend everything that’s happened.
So when you’re able to grab a minute alone with him after the sun has long gone down, you’re not going to add on to his problems with your feelings. The fact that he seeks you out at the end of the night to decompress is more than enough.
When this all over you tell yourself. You promise yourself. You’re going to tell him how you want to travel the world with him. You want to be by his side when he sees the sights he’s only read about. Wherever he goes, you’ll follow.
But now you’re wondering if either of you will ever see those sights. It all seems pretty hopeless.
There’s seven of you. No clue what’s happening on the other side of the wall, but it doesn’t sound good if the ricochet of loud bangs is anything to go by. But Armin comes through with a plan to stop Bertholdt, something you’re sure only he could think up.
But you should have known better when he pauses on the rooftop. The rest have already left to go after Reiner, where you should be joining them. But one last glance over your shoulder and you see Armin is already staring at you like he’s trying to drink in every detail about you.
“Armin?” You ask, wondering if he’s calculating something new, if he’s realized a flaw.
He looks like he has something to say. That look he gets before he’s about to dive into a long tangent, but he shakes his head of whatever that might be.
“I believe in you.” He says instead, before turning and jumping off the roof.
He doesn’t look back. You’re still standing watching him go. He’s too focused to look back, you think. But he knows he can’t bear to see your face again; it might break his resolve.
You find the others, and it’s a flurry of explosions and debris flying everywhere. Your heart is beating out of your chest as you and Jean divert Reiner’s attention. He flings part of a building at all of you, dust catching in your eyes even as you block it with your arm.
There’s a dizziness you feel when you see only one thunder spear lodged into his jaw. Your heart falls into your stomach. Part of you is saying there’s still hope, Mikasa can still make it, but there’s an overwhelming grief filling you for some reason.
You crash into a house, your leg taking the brunt of the impact. And suddenly your mind flashes back to when Armin knocked into you all those years ago. Why are you thinking of this now?
You look up to the colossal titan. It’s exhausting so much steam you can barely see the wall, let alone Eren or Armin. There’s a bang behind you and you turn to see Reiner exploding out of his titan. And then there’s an even louder sound and you watch as Bertholdt’s titan crashes into the wall.
We’ve done it, you think.
You have no fucking clue how it was all pulled off, but it’s happened.
Rising to your feet you jump down to where Hange is pressing their foot into Reiner’s chest, and they begin to hack off his limbs. You can’t watch, and turn your head to see Jean and Mikasa. Both are exhausted, but there’s a sense of relief in their eyes.
There’s still so much dust, and your eyes settle on Mikasa’s scarf. It looks like it’s covered in ash with how black it is. Jean too, he looks pale, too pale.
Your heart stutters.
You whip around to Hange again. The vibrant green of their cloak is dull and muted.
You choke on a gasp.
You look up at the sky. It doesn’t hold the vibrant blue from before. You had even noted how the sky was too clear and beautiful for what felt like such a somber day.
“I can’t, I can’t see.” You whisper. Your eyes are moving from place to place, trying to find a glimpse of color, but it’s all fading, and fast.
Mikasa is in front of you now, calling your name, but you don’t hear her. Can’t hear anything over the ringing in your ears.
I can’t see.
I can’t see.
I can’t see color.
“Armin!” You gasp, eyes meeting Mikasa, and her expression falls as fast as she hears his name leave you lips. She’s always been so perceptive. She knows instantly.
For what will be the only time in your life, you’re faster than her. Sprinting before catapulting yourself into the air and above the roof tops.
You can hear her calling behind, probably following behind, but you can’t stop, can’t slow down. Because there’s still a slight shine to the sky. It reminds you of his eyes.
You see the steam emitting from the decaying colossal titan and you know that’s where he is. Even if there hadn’t been that marker, it’s like your heart knows anyway.
You crash and roll onto the roof. There are more people than you expected there to be, but your eyes lock onto what you know is him.
You want to vomit. You almost do as the stench of burning flesh reach you. But you don’t.
Is it your eyes? Or is this how burnt his skin is?
Falling to your knees, you ignore the commotion behind you. Levi kicking a screaming Eren, Mikasa tackling Levi.
“Armin.” You whisper.
Your hands shake above him, unsure where too touch, if you even should. There’s a labored breathing coming from his body. You know that’s why this world still has the smallest ounce of color to it.
“Armin.” Tears are running down your cheeks. Did he know? Did he plan this? He hesitated earlier, like he wanted to say something. Did he know?
You never considered this as an outcome. Losing your color, losing your soulmate. You’re didn’t think there could be something worse than losing an unknown soulmate. You knew him. But he wasn’t yours. It’s the could of that hurts more.
You could have said something.
You could have been something.
You gently place a hand to his cheek. It’s so hot, too hot for a body. But if this is the only chance you have to cup his face the way you dreamed about, then so be it.
“I wish we could have figured it out sooner.” You whisper, “I think part of me always knew.” You wobble on your knees. “Did you know?”
Eren and Mikasa are desperate and can’t see what’s in front of their own eyes. But you know it’s impossible for your eyes to play a trick on you like this.
You sob, tears falling onto his face, immediately steaming away.
You want to lean down, to press your lips against his. You don’t care. You can ignore the smell. You can close your eyes. You can pretend that you’re kissing him at the sea he never shut up about. That was your plan in your daydreams.
The Scouts would retake the wall. They would clear out all the titans. And the second you’re truly outside the walls, seeing the sights he would wax on and on about, you would lean up and kiss him, tell him how your stomach flutters when he looks at you, how his words fill your heart.
But this would have to do.
And you would have, but instead your ripped away from his body.
“Stop!” You cry, fighting the person holding you, “We still have time!” You look up and see Jean is holding you against his chest, shooting a cable to the next building.
You wouldn’t even call the sky blue anymore. There’s not a drop of color you can see anywhere, but in your heart you know you had a few more seconds.
“Please!”
But it’s no use. You turn again to get one last glimpse of him alive while you can.
If only you had more time.
“We can still save him! He can eat me!” Eren is thrashing against the scout you don’t recognize, “There has to be enough left!”
You glance at everyone standing on the roof. No one is talking but Eren as he tries to persuade anyone who will listen. And then suddenly your heart is seized in a tight grip and you know he’s gone.
“Eren.” You mumble, “Shut up.” He looks at you with raw pain and anger in his eyes, but when he sees the tears tracks on your face, the sorrow in your eyes, it’s like he understands too.
Like everyone could see it so simply. Everyone but you.
You collapse, unable to stand any longer. It hurts unlike anything you’ve ever felt, can’t comprehend what you’re feeling.
The crackle of lightening fills your ear. What would colorless lightning look like? But you don’t want to see this. You don’t want to watch Bertholdt eaten. You wish this doesn’t have to happen, that none of this had ever happened.
There’s a collective gasp.
“Look.” You hear Jean say behind you. You follow his words, seeing the newly formed titan collapsing to the ground. But something is off about it, the hair too long and body too malnourished to be Erwin you think.
Cables shoot out and you see Levi flying towards Hanji, somebody thrown over his shoulder. But that doesn’t make sense. It’s not Armin, so it must be Erwin. But if that’s Erwin…
Mikasa and Eren are already flying to the ground.
You trip over yourself trying to follow, almost out of gas, leaving you to slide against the pavement when you tumble. You hear the others behind you, but your eyes are stuck on the person Eren is pulling out.
Everyone is crowding around, but you’re glued in your spot before his titan form. The color slowly seeps back into your world.
His golden hair returns first, blowing from the steam. His skin shining with sweat under the sun. You watch as each of you comrades fill with color, the world slowly returning to how you once knew it.
“Armin.”
It’s hours later by the time you can get a moment alone with him while he’s conscious. His nervous energy has him walking along the wall, you volunteered to go with, in case anything happens. But you’re not too concerned, early today you saw him burnt to a crisp and now he’s here beside you like nothing’s changed.
Like you didn’t have your whole world turned upside down and back again.
Armin sighs taking a seat on the edge of the wall. He’s looking out towards the destruction in Wall Maria. “It doesn’t seem like anyone else made it.”
You take a seat beside him, “No.”
“But I’m still here.” He mumbles to himself, “I still don’t understand why Captain made this choice.”
“Please.” You choke out.
Armin’s head shoots up from staring at the ground fifty meters below, surprised by the anguish in your voice.
“Please don’t think that this was the wrong choice.” You grab his hand, “That you being here is wrong.” Your eyes meet his, “Because I don’t think I could survive that.”
Armin is stunned by the conviction of your words, how absolute they must be to you. “___, you’d be okay. You’re stronger than you think.”
“Armin.” You’re exasperated, how does he still not understand? “When you were dying on that roof top,” He flinches at your bluntness, “I felt like I was drowning, and nothing could pull me out. Fuck, I mean my whole world was drowned out in darkness.”
A gasp escapes his mouth, “You don’t mean?”
You feel tears gathering in your eyes, “Please don’t ever make me feel that again.”
Armin searches your eyes, finally understanding. He doesn’t know how to answer, it’s impossible to answer, “I’ll try?”
You laugh at the awkwardness in his voice, and it lightens the thickness between you two.
“I feel like part of me has always known, at least hoped.” You continue shyly, “I promised myself I would tell you after we retook the wall.” You avert your eyes, “I’m just glad I still have the chance.”
“I umm, always wanted to say something. But I wasn’t sure.”
“Well, I know for sure now.” You give a small smile, squeezing his hand.
“Yeah.” Armin says breathlessly, “I guess you do.” His brow furrows a bit, an intense thought probably crossing his mind, “You think there’s any research out there about soulmates and near death experiences?”
You have to hold back a scoff at his always inquisitive mind. This is what he’s thinking about right now? “Armin?’ His focus returns to you, “Can I kiss you?”
Armin’s eyes widen to saucers, which is the most expressive reaction you’ve gotten from him yet. Is he that surprised? You just explained you were soulmates for fuck’s sake.
His mouth is open and closing as he tries to form a response, instead settling a brief nod.
You cup his cheek, softer than before, the perfect feel in your palm, and lean in pressing you lips to his. It’s a sweet kiss, sitting atop Wall Maria overlooking the vast land you both nearly died to reclaim. His hand is gripping yours tightly and you thread your fingers into his soft hair.
Armin pulls away, a faint blush staining his cheeks but eyes shining, “I’m so glad I decided to knock you out of the trees that day.”
You laugh at the memory that maybe in a roundabout way brought you here. And then his words click, “Wait, you did that on purpose?!”

Amphibia but if they got transported to the boiling else instead.
So each girl gets transported to the boiling isles due to the box instead of the door and is teleported to different parts of the Boiling isles. Anne meets Eda and basically, episode 1 plays out but instead of Anne choosing to stay by her own will, Eda lets her stay considering she has nowhere else to go, besides she did save Eda from a jail trip. They make a deal, Anne helps out, and Eda helps look for her friends and find a way home. Unlike Luz, Anne is reluctant to learn magic. It’s the last thing on her mind considering her friend’s circumstances. Eda doesn’t push her either considering humans cant do magic. But she does make Anne do chores and run errands resulting in a couple of shenanigans along the way. Then we get to The intruder, where Anne is basically taking videos with king being his adorable self when it starts to rain. The episode plays out per usual and Eda heads off to sleep. King notices that Anne is worried about her friends, especially with the rain. King comes up with a plan to conduct a potion to help them track her friends. Despite Eda specifically stating not to try ANY magic business without her supervision Anne agree’s and they head off collecting ingredients including Eda’s elixir which they mistaken for a different ingredient. While they’re at work Eda wakes up in the middle of her nap realizing she needs to take the elixir and quickly. As she looks for it she realizes it’s been stolen but at that point, it’s too late. The episode goes pretty much the same, Anne and king thinking it’s an invader but realizing it’s Eda, and they basically realize they should have listened to her. Anne turns on her phone as a flashlight only to find the video she and king had taken earlier. Pausing it to exit out she realizes the circle has a symbol in it. One thing leads to another and there able to save Eda and Anne learns a new spell. Now small time skip to Anne being forced yet again to run some errand that takes her into the woods where she finds * drumroll please* MARCY.
Marcy has been role playing you, a typical mage student, trying to sneak into hexide but was caught and thrown out. But to her surprise, she was noticed by the detention track student. Despite her not being able to perform magic she makes friends with them quickly and is able to sneak into the school and learn all she can, without performing actual spells. While scouting the woods for ingredients to complete a potion she finds Anne. The girls are beyond thrilled to find each other and share their adventures. Once Anne tells Marcy about her glyph discovery Marcy is quick to learn more and complete her greatest dream. Becoming a witch. With Marcy’s will to learn and Anne’s information, they are quick to learn spells. Well, actually Marcy is the one to discover them and forces Anne to learn them saying they will most certainly need it for the future. Soon enough Marcy forces both Eda and Anne to go to the convention where they find none other than Sasha.
Now Lilith has been trying to hunt down her sister fr the longest time now, and with Anne and Marcy, it makes things 10 times harder. When Sasha is arrested for several offenses she is brought to Lilith. Lilith is shocked that a human could cause so much trouble in the boiling isles, but when she realizes Sasha is connected to the humans helping her sister, she realizes she could use Sasha to help capture her sister. They make a deal, Sasha helps capture Eda, and Emperor Belos will help them get home. That’s where the convention comes in. Sasha finally reunites with the girls where they hang out at the convention. One thing leads to another and Anne realizes Sasha is trying to capture Eda. In an attempt to escape Marcy sets off several glyphs causing an explosion to distract the crowd while they each run off in different directions. Eda runs off being followed by Lilith where their canon battle takes place, Marcy is chased down by the guards for disturbing the peace but is able to fend them off due to her magic, while Anne is chased by Sasha leading to their fight. Eda and Marcy escape but the explosion from before causes the ground to split below them, leading to the famous, “ Maybe you’re better off without me” scene. Lilith saves Sasha taking her away to the emperor’s coven. Eda and the girls escape unharmed, continuing their lives from then on until Agony of a witch. One thing I forgot to mention is that Marcy shares her notes on glyphs with Sasha, Leading her to practice what she can on magic to prepare her for her next fight with Anne.
That’s about it if you have any questions I’d be happy to answer.

Not Without Trying - Chapter 11
Tumblr media
Summary: Levi takes Reader on a special mission. While they are there, Reader opens up about her childhood.
LevixFem!Reader
Warnings: Nudity?
Word Count: ~ 2,800
Levi walked into his office and set his paperwork down on his desk. He noticed his bedroom door opened. He never left it opened, in fact, he rarely ever used it. He walked over to the entrance and was about to close it when he saw Y/N. She was sitting on the edge of his bed, completely naked, folding her clothes.
“What the hell are you doing?!” He stepped in and closed the door behind him quickly.
“I’m folding my clothes…?” She looked at him confused. “I noticed that you had them hanging up in here.”
“Could you please put some damn clothes on!” He grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around her. “Someone could easily walk in here. I don’t need anyone getting any ideas.”
“I don’t have any issues with people seeing me.” She laughed. “Besides, I can’t even get any of the cadets to look at me. You’ve laid your claim so intensely that no one is going to get any ideas.” She started putting on her shirt.
“As much as I would love to take credit for that, it’s not because of me. They’re not looking at you because of you.” He watched her as she put on her pants.
“What are you talking about?”
“They’re just as scared of you as they are of me.” He explained. She looked at him, confused. “I beat the shit out of you and you still got up and dragged my ass through the training fields… No one wants to mess with that.”
He smiled to himself, feeling so much pride for her.
“I see.”
“I’m sorry for this.” He rubbed the scratch on her cheek, still healing from when they were sparring. He pressed his lips together, angry at himself for doing it.
“Don’t be.” She put her hand on his. “I needed that wake-up call.”
It seemed like such a long time ago that she was moping around feeling sorry for herself.
“I need you to do me a favor.” He held her hand. “It’s sort of a mission.” “A mission?” She stared at him, confused. “Erwin said we were done for the night, we haven’t even eaten dinner yet.” “It’s only for us. No one else knows about it.” The corner of his lips moved up to a small smile.
“Oh.” Y/N stopped what she was doing, thinking about what the mission could be, her eyes searching and her mouth slightly open.
“Don’t hurt yourself thinking about it.” Levi teased. “Also, get out, I need to change and so do you.”
“I just put on my uniform.”
“Yeah, we can’t wear our uniforms this time.” He took off his jacket. “It has to be our civilian clothes.” He smiled to himself. “Our nicer civilian clothes.”
“You come in here and tell me to put some clothes on and now I have to put on different clothes.” She crossed her arms. “Fine.”
“Be downstairs in 15 minutes.” He reached up and caressed her cheek, then went back to pulling out his outfit. She walked up behind him, putting her arms around his waist and pulling him towards her body.
“You think that was enough? A tiny little cheek rub?” She chuckled and planted kisses all over his cheek.
“Ugh, come on” He struggled against her, but still leaned back into her arms. She let him go and walked towards the door. “15 minutes.” He repeated.
Y/N had no idea what to wear, most of her clothes were her uniform and anything that wasn’t her uniform looked exactly like her uniform. Maybe if she was younger she would still have some civilian clothing, but she ditched those once she reached captain.
She could ask one of the girls. Mikasa and Sasha still wore civilians sometimes. But they were so much smaller than her. Maybe I could borrow something from Erwin? Ugh. She flipped through her clothes and found a sweater that she hadn’t worn in a while. She put it over her white blouse and pants, looking at herself in the mirror. I look like a civilian, right? She nodded and made her way downstairs.
The mess hall was already getting busy, everyone sitting down to eat. She passed it up, her stomach rumbling, and headed outside. Levi was waiting near the door, sitting on a bench. He stood up when he saw her.
“What kind of mission is—Wow… you look…” She watched as he walked over to her. He was wearing his black suit with his white shirt and cravat, his jacket resting on his shoulders. She had seen Levi in his civilians before, but for some reason, he looked different. Maybe because this time she knew what was under it. She blushed a little at the thought.
“I remember telling you 15 minutes.” He lectured and they made their way into town.
“It took me so long to figure out what to wear. I don’t really have much civilian clothing anymore.” She mumbled. “I had to settle for this.” She gestured at her outfit.
“I think you look lovely.” He looked at her and clasped her hand in his as they walked.
“I see you don’t seem to have that problem.” She looked him up and down again. “You look… really handsome.”
“I wear this all the time.” He brushed it off. They continued walking down the street. They made it to town after about 10 minutes of walking. Levi pulled her closer, wrapping his arm around her waist as the sidewalks got busier.
“So where are we going? Are we undercover?” She whispered. “Are we supposed to just be an ordinary couple?”
“Something like that.” He smiled. “We’re just about there.”
Y/N looked at all the shops they were passing. There were so many stores she has never been in. She remembered shopping with her mom when she was a little girl. Her mom knew everyone in their neighborhood, always stopping at each and every shop just to chat. It was definitely a bit different now.
“It’s just up here.” Levi pointed his finger two shops down. He opened the door for Y/N and she walked inside. It was a bar. What kind of mission…? As soon as the man in front saw Levi, he quickly walked over to him.
“Good evening, Mr. Ackerman. We have the table you requested back here.”
The man led them to the back of the bar, through some curtains to a darker room, just one table and two chairs in the corner.
“Is it to your liking?” Levi nodded and the man let out a small sigh of relief. “Someone will be with you in a moment.” And he disappeared behind the curtains.
“Do… do you want to sit?” He was looking at Y/N.
“Sure.” They sat at the table and Y/N opened her mouth to speak, but someone came in the room with a bottle of wine and poured them each a glass. They both thanked him and he left.
Levi was starting to look nervous. He reached his hand across the table and rested it on Y/N’s. He looked at her, trying to see what she was thinking.
“Levi…” She started, “Are we on a date?” He looked down, a small blush coming to his cheeks as the corners of his mouth turned into a smile.
“I wasn’t sure how to ask you.” He admitted. “This seemed like the next best thing.”
“We’re on a date!” She laughed and held his hand tighter, looking into his eyes and smiling. “Thank you.”
“So you’re okay with this?” He asked, looking for reassurance. “This is a good date?”
“I mean, I haven’t been on a real date in so long. You’re probably asking the wrong person.” She smiled at him. “But this is great. This is perfect.”
The smile that Levi had on his face at her words was the biggest she’d ever seen him smile.
Y/N could tell Levi was nervous, but she couldn’t figure out why. They had a lot of silence in their conversations every day, but that was mainly because Levi was a quiet person. She did most of the talking and was okay with that. It felt strange now though, sitting in silence staring at each other.
At the same time, the silence was comfortable. It wasn’t often that they had time to just sit with each other and not have to discuss something about a mission or something with the scouts. Maybe that’s why it felt strange. This was what normal dates were like. It had been a long time since she was able to experience normal.
Levi took a sip of his wine as he watched her think. She was looking around the room and he was worried that maybe this wasn’t impressive enough. He never felt like he needed to impress Y/N, she was always so happy with what she was given and he loved not having that pressure. Now, though, she was looking around the room and the room wasn’t that remarkable.
When he had walked through town a little while ago, he was trying to find anywhere he could take her, anything he could take her to do. They were quite limited with how far they could go and what she would actually like. Their relationship was odd that way. He knew her so well when it came to leading and fighting, they could coordinate a titan kill without even speaking and he trusted her with his life just as she trusted him. When it came to actually knowing her, he realized that he didn’t. Not when it came to things like favorite color, favorite food, or idea of a perfect date. He got more nervous as he watched her. She must not be impressed.
“Erwin said we might be getting some new recruits soon.” Levi spoke quietly.
“That’s great,” she replied, “it would be nice to have them on the next mission.”
Levi nodded. It was so awkward and it kept getting worse. It was as if they were shoved in this room on a blind date and had no idea how to talk to the other person. She laughed to herself and Levi looked up.
“I guess when it comes to talking about things unrelated to work, we’re lacking a bit.” She laughed.
“Sorry.” He smiled. “I’m not the greatest company. I’ve never been on a date. I’m not sure what I should be doing.”
“No, no,” she encouraged him, “you’re doing fine. This is great actually. I like how dark and private the room is.”
“You do?” She nodded and a man walked in with plates of food and set them on the table in front of them before leaving quickly.
“How did you get a pub to serve food to us in a private room?” She whispered over the hot plates.
“I just asked.” He shrugged in his indifferent way.
“Oh.” She laughed. “Pays to be intimidating.”
They picked up their forks and started eating. Y/N wasn’t a particularly picky eater. She sort of just ate what was in front of her, but one thing she loved to eat was fish. They didn’t often get to eat fish in the scouts. Most of their meals consisted of potatoes, cabbage and bread. She wasn’t sure if Levi knew this or didn’t even think about it, but seeing the piping hot, steaming fish in front of her, she was already drooling.
She leaned in and stuck her fork into the fish at the exact same time as Levi did and they both looked at each other and smiled.
“You like fish?” He asked, his eyebrow raised.
“I love fish.”
“I would have thought you liked bread.” He moved his fork back and reached for another dish.
“Why would you think that?” She scooped some fish for her plate and added some to his while she waited for an answer. He only opened and closed his mouth, not sure of what to say and Y/N realized what he meant by it. “You mean because of my sister.”
He nodded, not sure if it was appropriate to talk about or if she even wanted to talk about it. He had never really asked her anything personal like this before and accidentally bringing it up now had his hands sweaty.
“You don’t have to talk about it.”
“It was a long time ago.” She shrugged. “You know, the first time I ever ate fish was the first time my sister decided she would become a baker.”
She paused her story to take a bite of her food and as soon as it hit her mouth, she was smiling. She closed her eyes while she chewed, a satisfied hum coming out and Levi only smiled at her, looking down as his food so she wouldn’t see.
“This is so good.” She opened her eyes. “Have you tasted it yet?”
He only nodded and took a sip of his drink.
“So anyway, I was maybe seven years old. My dad took us to a May Day festival in our town and there were so many vendors selling their food.” Levi watched her as she spoke, reliving the memory in front of him. “My dad loved bread. Loved bread. I have never seen anyone that loves bread as much as him.
“We always went to the same vendor to get bread, but the winter before, the baker passed away and we were so heartbroken. We found another vendor and bought so much, sitting at a fountain to eat it. The second we took a bite, we all looked at each other because it was so bad.”
She laughed and took a sip of her wine. Levi did the same.
“My brother was really small then, maybe one or two years old. My dad had given him some crust to suck on and he just cried.” She paused for a minute, smiling as she thought about them. “So anyway, we didn’t want to leave disappointed and the only vendor that was close by was selling fish so my dad went over and quickly bought some for us and that was pretty much it for me.”
She took another bite of her food, smiling at the flavor as much as she did the first bite.
“I had never tasted something so soft and buttery and warm. And fish just has this taste that no other food has.” She took another bite.
“I didn’t know that about you.” Levi smiled.
“That I liked fish?” She asked, looking confused.
“Your family,” he started, “you never talk about them.”
“There’s not really much to say, honestly.”
“But I… I like hearing it.” He admitted. She smiled at him. “So how did this May Day make your sister want to bake?”
“Oh, right.” She put her fork down. “So, after eating the bread and hating it and eating the fish, which I loved, but my sister hated. She vowed that she would become the best baker in Shinganshina so that everyone could have good bread. She was only 11, but she was kind of always dramatic.”
“Well if she’s the one that taught you how to make that bread you always make, I’d say she definitely achieved that.” He took a sip of his wine. “The bread? You liked it?” She asked excitedly.
“I actually really did.”
“I should make it again,” she said, “for you.”
“I’d like that.” He looked back down at his food, hoping she didn’t notice the blush on his cheeks.
Y/N could try as hard as she wanted, but she honestly couldn’t remember the last date she had been on. Not that she wanted to compare any of them to this one because this one would definitely knock the others out of the park.
She watched Levi eat his food. He was always so gentle with things, not like everyone else she’s met in the military. They almost always scarfed the food down quickly, moving on to the next thing that needed to get done, but Levi always took his time. His lips gently sliding the food off the fork, never making a mess.
It was amazing that she never noticed him until recently. What was she doing that in three whole years she never once looked at him in the way she looks at him now.
“You’re staring.” He stated without looking up.
“Yeah,” she said, dreamily, propping her head up on her elbow.
“Why are you staring?” He asked, taking a sip of his wine.
“Just wishing I was that fork.” She smiled and Levi started coughing, choking on the gulp of wine he just took.
She laughed at him, but started standing up to help him and he put his hand up to stop her, coughing it out himself. It took him a minute, but he finally stopped coughing, moving back to his food and pretending she didn’t say what she just said.
“Levi?”
“Yes.”
“Thank you for this.”
He looked up at her and she was smiling that smile that always got him to smile back.
“It was my pleasure.”

Fan-sanity
Yes, this is going to be a thing for a bit, because we need some of this when it comes to the lunacy that is the Attack on Titan fandom. (I still say it borders on a cult)
From LoneWolf (@lonewolftkr) on Twitter:
“ Maturing is realising the ending of Attack on Titan completely ruined the entire thing, reduced it to a pathetic joke, and no one in their right mind should spend any more of their precious time on it “ “Ymir was waiting for mikasa + was leading the whole aot cast to that final confrontation so she could witness the act that would free her = Ymir had full knowledge of what was going to happen before it even happened, meaning she could free herself at any point “ --------------- From peggs (@itachedd) :  What it became: ymir willingly endured 2000 years of slavery bc she was in love with her abuser and freed herself bc she projected on/related to a girl who chose to kill her beloved, like ymir knew she should have but never could. And I'm supposed to enjoy the "plotwist" bc???
Lonewolf’s response:     According to 139 she wasnt even a slave, she "agonizing over love". She was just a naive, innocent girl in love with the wrong guy, fuck them millions upon millions who tragically and horrifically died over 2 millennia of titan oppression which she willingly allowed
----------------
“ Ymir should have never been brought to the present story. Besides that one panel where eren embraces her in the paths (utterly ruined by ch139), isayama did only mediocre to terrible things involving her, and ruined Krugers spectacular explanation about her.”
****** I don’t give a shit about Eren Kruger and I dare anyone to explain what the hell his relevance is. But I can’t disagree with anything else there, I mean......Ymir Fritz is a pretty SHIT character and a SHIT explanation for all that brought the Titans about.
 --------------------
I thought the trailer for AoT FSp2 was quite good, but then i noticed the cgi scouts. Lmfao, mappa really are worthless, arent they
I will not be checking out any more of Studio MAPPA’s stuff just because of their hand in creating Attack on Titan: The Final (And Worst) Season. Not to mention their abusive overworking of their own staff. Fuck MAPPA. I hope the finale is a nightmare for them.
-----------------------
Why did 2k years of colonialism, racism, genocides etc happen? Cause one girl had Stockholm syndrome. 10/10, peak fiction, greatest ending ever.
I agree. Embarrassing.
-------------------------
“ Isayama apparently added "proof" of ymirs "love for the king" in the anime paths, which didnt even exist in the manga he wrote 2 years ago. Officially confirmed that the ending was a retconning turd. What a fucking worthless fraud of a mangaka”
Thank you! No bigger fraud than Isayama.
Tumblr media
---------------------
From nkkolo (@nkkolo87)
“Attack on Titan started going downhill since the second timeskip”
FACT! There’s nothing “peak fiction” about season four people, ALL of season four sucks ass. And some of you are VERY reluctant to come to grips with that fact.
Remember it’s because of all the shit in the timeskip, stuff established AFTER the fact that led to that crappy finale. Why did Sasha, Ymir, Hange, and the like die again? FOR THAT? The fanbase should not be indulging Isayama any further. I don’t care how lulled you are by crappy CGI.
----------------------
Always good to find sane fans in a place where sanity is not prevalent.
This story ended with the Ocean.

RATE THE EPISODE 309 Responses
Tumblr media
Overall the episode was a hit with viewers, with the majority ranking it a 4 or higher. Over half of all respondents rating it a solid 5. The hype is real!
I thought this was a great episode. A lot of hype moments and the CGI worked for me, for the most part. Looking forward to the next episode!
All around exceeded my expectations if mappa keeps this up this will go down as the best anime in history
Chef's KISS!!! 10/10 episode, i was extremely hyped the entire time.
It was amazing and I hope MAPPA keeps up with the same quality for future episodes
Amazing episode really hype
I thought the voice acting was amazing! :)
Great episode, not perfect but neither was WIT. No adaptation is perfect. This was fantastic.
It was pretty good just maybe good have been done better but I’m just happy it was done at all.
I’ve lowered my expectations to rock bottom at this point
An enjoyable time.
I think it was great! I was very excited and left me wanting more tbh
It was a very good episode!! I'm so happy to see the survey corps again!
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING MOMENTS WAS YOUR FAVORITE? 310 Responses
Tumblr media
Mikasa’s reintroduction to the series takes the largest piece of the pie, with 31.6% enjoying the scene the most. In second comes the coordinated attack from the Survey Corps against Porco, with 14.8% feeling that scene really brings the hype. At 10.3%, Levi’s first appearance in the season takes 3rd place, and with 9.7% is the overall fight between Eren and the War Hammer Titan.
Ackermans ran this episode as they should. They're on a whole different level.
Why isn't the Sasha-Gabi moment in the list of favourite moments? That's my actually favourite moment. Gabi seeing Sasha through the fire and smoke, Sasha's reflection in her eyes...chilling.
THE CGI CONTINUES TO BE A POINT OF CONTENTION. BE HONEST, HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE EXECUTION OF CGI SO FAR THIS SEASON? 309 Responses
Tumblr media
In general, the fandom appears to be understanding of MAPPA’s usage of CGI, with 38.2% being completely unbothered by it, 20.1% feeling that while it’s not ideal, it could be much worse, and 18.8% not particularly caring for it but not faulting MAPPA for it either. A handful of people just wish that there would be more appreciation that it’s getting animated at all, while others continue to be a bit salty about the usage of CGI this season.
Did people forgot the god-awful Colossal titan's CGI from WIT? Well, I didn't so I wasn't surprised by the same level of CGI in Eren's scene (thankfully just one of them). I rarely have issue with CGI in SnK except for truly awful looking ones so like couple of times in the season, usually.
I honestly wouldn't even know there's CGI if everyone wasn't complaining about it. I honest to god can't see where they use it.
It's mostly fine
I thought the war hammer titan looked AMAZING, the only CGI that looked odd was the scouts in the background, but that’s really it...?
A few sore spots (e.g. Erens titan looked kinda off this ep), but it's not season-ruining yet.
CGI Titans >>>>>>>> CGI Survey Corps
It works fine for titans that already look somewhat mechanical (Armor, Jaw), but it looks incredibly awkward for the others, to the point of taking me out of the story.
Sometimes great sometimes shit
Maybe I've been spoiled by studio orange and the previous seasons, but I know for a fact that they can do better. This is not a new anime, this is the final season of one of the greatest anime of all time, so yeah I expected much better CGI, it was poor and unecessary.
i think it’s gr8/unnoticeable,,,,,like we all put up with the colossal titan in s1-3 lmao
Some Titans like Eren and Beast look a little weird but I just really like how they made effort to make it blend with the art style. Maybe if they had found a way to cut the animation down to 12fps it might not look so bad? Anyways I think it’s good for what it is, MAPPA is doing their best!
I barely noticed it. The animation looks BOMB. Top 5 episodes of the whole series for me and BEST action episode of AOT easily.
I'm always going to prefer 2D but I understand why they're using it. Still sad about what could've been if they were given enough time to work on the season. Definitely going to lower my expectations.
My dumbass wouldn't even notice, I just want to see the pretty people
I think the CGI for the Titans is completely fine. It's the CGI for the Scouts that was a bit off putting for me. Still, not enough to ruin the episode. And if we continue to get animation of this standard I will be fine with it.
At this point after episode 7 onward eventually AOT CGI is going to be worst than EX-arm's CGI
I love it because it makes the titans scarier and more eerie? I also miss the 2D ones because they feel more natural. Overall, I think it's fine!
I think the CGi is well executed (for the most part), I just don't like that they had to use it so much.
It's a great job. They manage to execute it very well and go to a normal animation when it's needed. It doesn't bother me tbh
HOW WAS EREN’S ROOFTOP SWAN DIVE? 309 Responses
Tumblr media
Eren’s dive in the anime was a bit different than in the manga, but it seemed to get a few laughs out of the fandom, so we asked you all to rank it. 58.3% felt it was the most beautiful dive to have ever dived, while only 5.5% think Eren really needs to work on his form. He did his best.
WHICH RETURNING CHARACTER’S ENTRANCE WAS YOUR FAVORITE IN THIS EPISODE? 310 Responses
Tumblr media
Mikasa stole the show this episode, with 53.5% enjoying her entrance the most. Levi wasn’t too far behind though, with 29% of respondents hyped over his return. 11.6% were very happy to see Sasha again, while smaller chunks were glad to see Jean and Connie.
They massacred my Jean-boy’s entrance 🥲
WHICH RETURNING CHARACTER HAS THE BEST MAPPA-STYLE GLOW UP? 304 Responses
Tumblr media
We got a more colorful and evened out pie for this question. Overall the largest chunk, at 24.3%, are enjoying MAPPA’s take on Eren’s iconic “hobo chic” look. 21.1% think Sasha looks the best out of all of them, while Mikasa trails just behind her at 20.1%. 16.1% are grateful for Connie’s design, leaving 9.5% favoring Jean, and smaller handfuls appreciating MAPPA’s take on Levi and Floch.
Chubby Floch
Here I am watching the trailer all over again because that's probably the only way to see Jean animated handsome and with his actual manga face. MAPPA what happened?
Levi has a thicc ass
I’m a big fan of all the time skip character designs, it was hard to pick just one favourite :)
Jean looked stupid... Floch too but that's not important.
OG characters designs feels a bit off to me. I understand why they use CG for some parts and I have mixed emotions about it. I hope they won't rely on it too much on the upcoming episodes.
#ITSTIMEMIKASA WAS TRENDING ON TWITTER BEFORE THE EPISODE AIRED. ON A SCALE OF 1-5, HOW MUCH DID IT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE? 304 Responses
Tumblr media
One of the most anticipated scenes of the Marley arc was the return of the Survey Corps and the way Mikasa paves the path for their reintroduction. The fandom appears to be very happy with MAPPA’s execution of the scene, with 60.9% of respondents rating it with a 5, with 27% rating it a 4.
EEEEEEEEEEK MIKASA
Mikasa! Mikasa! Gosh love her!
im so glad mikasa is back owfejgrnrkdfs

The series isn’t known for having too much filler, but typically what filler does exist seems to be appreciated by the fandom, and this was no exception. 56.8% of respondents were happy for a little more fleshing out of Willy’s character (also learning that those kids were his!) and being able to sympathize more with him. 19.7% appreciated the more sympathetic addition until they remembered he was willing to throw Liberio under the bus for his plan. 13.5% are appreciative of any and all additional Willy content. A small amount didn’t like the filler and would rather have had MAPPA put their effort into other things.
I liked it. Got to see more of his fine ass. lmao
Don't add extra 2d animation if You can't even handle what's in the manga
It would've been better to show before he was dead. Fleshing him out after the audience already know he's dead doesn't hit as much imo
Wasn't one of the scene itself, but then again I'm always interested in scenes I haven't seen yet.
I am so grateful, willy for is one of my favourites and omg we got to see his family and how is he a lovely papa 😭💕 I can't ask for more bless you MAPPA🤘
fuck them kids
Why should we feel bad for him? He tried to unite the world against Paradis. He got what he deserved.
this was a benefit. as manga readers, we had time to know willy. anime onlies will only ever have these 2-3 episodes and it was very humanizing
How is that possible that Tybur little kids in few seconds were louder nad more chaotic than THE WHOLE CITY DURING THE ATTACK??
It's very regrettable he left so many children fatherless because of what he chose to do. Really saddening..
I’d have rather seen more of the manga animated
I knew why they added it, but I (personally) think willy is crud. Not mad it's there tho!
He did his duty as a Tybur to the very end. Honestly I wish he could have lived longer, he’s a really compelling and interesting character.
I feel like some viewers have carelessly misunderstood Willy because of that scene in the carriage. They're like 'wow, he really hates and shames his own people huh?' but at the beginning of the episode we all saw his abundance of children. Would it not have been extremely contradictory if he had truly wanted the extinction of all Eldians and then at the same time did the complete opposite by mass-reproducing a small army of Eldian children? Maybe that's why that scene was added to the start of the episode, to keep people away from mischaracterising him. Unfortunately, this may have simply been missed or overlooked by some.
they should had polish the damn episode instead of fillers.
Loved it! Mappa is killing it with the episode additions
Reading the manga, I truly didn't even consider the possibility that these were Willy's children because he is so obviously a ~*bachelor*~. Like, it didn't even cross my mind that those children weren't his little nieces and nephews because he is suuuuch a Theater Gay. Nothing can change my mind.
Wait a minute, are these the kids in that ending slide from season 3?
IN THE ORIGINAL CHAPTER 101, MAGATH IS THE ONE WHO ADVOCATES FOR KILLING EREN INSTEAD OF EATING HIM (IN CONTRAST TO HIS SUBORDINATE KOSLOW) AND NOTES THAT “THE AGE OF TITANS IS OVER.” IN THE ADAPTATION, MAGATH INSTEAD ADVOCATES FOR EATING EREN, NOTING THAT KILLING HIM WOULD ONLY PROLONG THE PROBLEM. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE CHANGE? 305 Responses
Tumblr media
A minor dialogue change didn’t seem to have much of an effect on nearly half of respondents, with 47.5% saying they’re indifferent to the change. 43.3% like the change much better, feeling that it works a lot better with future story developments and makes more sense. A handful didn’t care for the change and felt it tampered with Magath’s overall characterization.
I think the change was logical and more consistent with the story, but I'm naturally skeptical of any AOT manga-to-anime change.
I forgot this.
It ovewrites the flaw of Magath's original plan. Even if I think its unfitting of him, it makes sense.
I'm not sure what I feel about it. Kinda like how they added Falco having a dream back in episode 1. For now, let's just see.
I suppose the new change is a little contradictory because Magath dislikes Marley’s reliance on Titan power and rather just wishes th ey had prowess in other ways.
Realistically eating him makes more sense for them to eat Eren so they gain control of the Founder but I think Magath accepting the age of Titans is now done for is more in character.
It obviously makes more sense logistically, but I think it's important for Magath to stand opposed to Marley national policy on this front, like, symbolically.
BETWEEN UDO AND ZOFIA, WHO WOULD YOU HAVE LIKED TO SURVIVE TO RECEIVE MORE STORY IN THE MANGA? 304 Responses
Tumblr media
Though they are minor characters, the anime seems to have made some of the fandom a bit more fond of them. Still, 38.5% wouldn’t change anything about their fates, stating that they were necessary for Gabi to develop further as a character. 28% would rather neither of them died and are curious about how they would have developed if they lived to see another day. 23.7% say if they had to pick only one of them, it would be Udo due to his relevant commentary. A handful leaned toward Zofia, wishing they could have learned more about her.
Udo. But at the same time Isayama can barely handle all the characters that are still alive so Udo probably wouldn't get a lot of screen time anyway.
Zofia. I didn't care about her while reading the manga, but in the anime she was more unique. I liked her stoic voice a lot. Zofia and Gabi should have switch the places.
None cus i don't like Gabi
Both or neither. One would be just a third wheel to Gabi and Falco. I would love to see more of Udo and Zofia but I think their deaths were important
Udo and zofia's deaths hurt so bad. I didn't particularly care for either of them when reading the manga but i grown attracted to them in the anime. Udo's in particular breaks me. He was such a energic kid and he... got trampled to death. I'm just...
Neither. Both were serving an enemy nation and deserved what they got.
They weren't important to me so I don't really care
OPINION ON HOW THE ATTACK ON LIBERIO WAS PORTRAYED? 306 Responses
Tumblr media
47.1% of respondents didn’t want to pick sides, stating that the attack was tragic in both mediums of the story-telling. 25.8% felt that it was much more devastating in animated form alongside the sound, music and voice acting. 18.3% felt a bigger impact while reading the manga.
Both versions are devastating, but Manga hit harder bc I just was so confused and couldn't stop trying to figure out wtf Eren was doing and why. Watching it knowing what I know made it somehow more devastating and yet also more palatable (bc I have a better understanding.)
It was more devastating in the manga. Especially Udo's death scene
I think I have to wait until the battle is over. So far it's alright.
Loved it
It gave me more emotions in the manga.
They got what they deserved
It was far more devastating in trailer 🙄
WE FINALLY HAVE A NAME FOR LADY TYBUR - LARA! THOUGHTS? 307 Responses
Tumblr media
One of the few characters left with no name after the large guidebook released a few years ago, Lady Tybur was all we could call her (aside from fan-given names). Now she has an official name! 26.7% found it neat that we finally got this official detail. 25.4% feel that now they can finally sleep at night. 17.6% are forever grateful for the name drop and hated waiting so long for it. 15.3% don’t care at all and 11.7% feel this confirms that Isayama is a fan of Tomb Raider.
Not what I was expecting and wasn't expecting her to get a name. At least people can stop calling her Emma or those other dumbass meme names.
Cool. Next up: names for the Blouse kids, right? Right right?
I'm not kidding when I say I literally jumped up and screeched "SHE HAS A NAME!!!"
she didn't need it. she was the mysterious lady t.
Lara was more lucky than Traute, who got more panels in the manga but her name was mentioned only in the guidebook.
Still died
WHICH SCENE FROM THE PREVIEW ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? 306 Responses
Tumblr media
Of all the shots in the preview, 45.1% of respondents were most looking forward to Levi’s staged attack on Zeke. 17% favored seeing Mikasa assist Eren, 15% were most looking forward to seeing Falco emerge from the basement to see the carnage outside. 10.1% were stoked to see Pieck enter the battlefield. The episode has aired as of the publishing of these poll results - we hope these scenes lived up to the hype (even though we guessed one wrong lol).
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?
I enjoyed the episode very much. I felt that the CGI was handled fairly well given the time restraints. However, there were a few instances where it was a bit jarring like Eren eating Willy, Eren pulling the WHT's cord, Mikasa landing on Eren, and Jean climbing up on the roof. Also some of the CGI models looked a bit weird for the scouts. I'm hoping some of these issues can be improved on in the Blue-ray version. Overall, these issues were noticeable but didn't take too much away from my enjoyment of the episode.
As much as I don't like the CGI, episode was great.
Just that it was fantastic and I can't wait for the next one!
The music is top notch. I love it. Especially the new version of XL TT near the end
After re-visiting the trailer we got for this season, it's just....saddening. Everyone was wondering how Mappa was gonna animate AoT and after seeing that trailer, all that effort by the animators, I thought "it's in good hands!". Now that we're getting the episodes and it's underwhelming. I don't blame the Mappa animators at all and cgi is unavoidable at some moments. But whoever are the higher ups who said "animate this in the shortest amount of time" ARE the assholes. It's so upsetting for this anime and the workers of it to be brought down like this :'(
Continuing to enjoy the pictures on the page come to life in the anime.
It was pretty amazing, I was waiting for so long to see this part animated! Aaand I'm so happy I got to see again the scouts! (expecially Connie, my personal fav)
Erwin should had lived instead of Armin, so Erwin can nuke Marley dropping from a blimp
I really liked it! I don't understand all the critics about the animation. It looks really neat and smooth
the SC backlit in that final scene was sickkkkk
It was different from the manga, but all the differences just improved the storytelling and fleshed out the people in Marley. Well done, MAPPA!
aaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I’m just grateful Mappa actually gives a shit about adapting the story properly. That alone makes this season a 9/10 for me cause that’s rare to see in the anime industry these days.
THE OST WAS FIRE
Gabi's voice acting was amazing this episode ! Also, it feels good to hear the ODM gear sound effect again. The CGI didn't keep me from enjoying the fight, we got awesome camera movements and good choreography, I'm very hopeful for next episode ! Also best boy Onyankopon might appear soon ?
I seriously do not know why people are complaining. It was amazing! Can't wait for the next episodes, it's going to be action-packed and intense!
I don't know if I liked the episode or not. I usually prefer manga so even episodes I like I prefer their manga versions but there is something in off with the episode and usually, Titans fight are more excited but this one Nah it was not at all. War hammer was great in animation it served a better understanding of its powers but the fight, in general, was like boring?? idk maybe because I am a manga reader so the titan power/character's introduction was not as thrilling as they were when I've read the chapters. anyways, there is still more of the attack on liberio in the next episode so I'll give my final thought when we conclude the arc
I really enjoyed and the CGI doesn't bother me.
I think the reason Attack Titan looks a bit off is it looks a bit thinner! Warhammer looks amazing because it's a true copy of the manga. If Attack Titan was a bit buff, I think nobody would have that much of a problem. Overall the chapter is amazing!
as much as i adored everything else i must admit... what is wrong with the character design? what happened to everyone's jaws?? i think jean, mikasa and pieck were the worst drawn. in the manga, they look flawless.
I just hope we would get actual discussions in the sub instead of circle jerking or bitching about the cgi/ost etc.
The soundtrack was epic as hell
Mappa is doing a good job, with the little time they had. But sadly, they had the capacity to do way better and I will always regret this situation. And the Jojo memes on Mikasa are on point: in that specific panel, she looks ugly and unlike her cute face in the manga. For the rest of the episode, she's well portrayed
I think this episode is a taste of what is to come. It’s one thing to read still, silent pictures of complete devastation, and it’s another thing to hear the explosions, the screaming and crying. Seeing the blood painted red instead of black and white. When Eren rumbles the world, more people will realize how evil it is, how completely irredeemable. Less people will be #teameren once they get to see it in the anime. I can’t wait to see what MAPPA has in store.
So many nice details in the battle that weren’t there in the manga, the war hammer animation was particularly great
I feel bad complaining, but this was the first episode of the season that has disappointed me at all. Every other episode I feel has elevated the manga. I don't want (and never expected) to be that person, but the CGI, especially on the humans (WHY??) was so awkward it was distracting. We also lost a little bit of expressiveness from Eren, which is kind of a big deal when there's so little from him to begin with.
Soundtrack was lit!!!!
It is what it is. But after I finished the episode I went back to watch the trailer and got sad that the season just isn't going to look like that. It's not bad by any means and I understand that these are people, not robots working on this with an extremely tight schedule. This entitled fanbase is super embarrassing with it's behavior and harassment of the people working on it. I kind of hope the final arc doesn't get animated now because these people don't deserve it.
Awesome! I was a bit distracted how the pacing was, cutting a bit weirdly from one episode to another, but I really enjoyed it!
That closeup of Eren's Titan after he nom'd Willy is NUTS.
It was emotionless and almost boring. The sound director keeps fucking up big time. I didnt feel anything close to the hype I felt watching the Armored/Colossal reveal animated. There were no exciting goosebumps, or tears. Nothing. Also the CGI was terrible. There were good things, but I expected much more for suck a climatic episode
It was a good episode after all, graphic was ok but i think that if they continued with the same titan 2d animation of first episodes and maybe changed a bit some sound it would have been waaay better. Still a good episode imho
The episode was very average. I'm not trying to complain, I know that the anime is mostly for anime-onlines, while we have a manga, but I expected better. I imagined the titan fight to be smooth, but in reality both - WHT and AT - moved like two, fat elephants. In the manga I felt that WHT was fast like a wind. In the anime Lara was slow, she looked like she had a hard time to even hold her hammer. The moment between Eren and Mikasa was disappointing. In the anime when Mikasa was upset about Eren's actions, he was completely unfeeling, while in the manga we see him being full of emotions and almost crying. I know he will turn into a cold bastard but MAPPA shouldn't dehumanize Eren so much now. I was surprised by Connie's glow up. MAPPA has done better job with him. In the manga he still looks like a kid, while MAPPA made him more mature-looking and masculine. That's good for underrated Connie. I'm grateful for the scene between Willy and his children. This way he feels more sympathetic and isn't ""just a guy who declared a war and was eaten by Eren"".
I really like how the warriors and Marleyans seem to be getting a somewhat equal amount of screen time as the scouts have gotten after they've come into the picture. I hope this helps to make clear for the anime-onlies that understanding the experiences, emotions and the development of the other side is just as important as understanding those of the scouts/Paradis.

chaos - part two
chaos masterlist
part one 2.1k+ words
it was three years ago when nyame first saw eren. he was in titan form. she and onyankopon, had volunteered to partake in a mission to paradis island after the warrior unit’s failed attempt to capture the founding titan. but by this time her brother had already recruited her to yelena’s anti-marleyan movement. she was hesitant at first; sure she believed that marley had to be put in their place but she didn’t trust yelena and she definitely did not trust zeke. she refused to even meet the holder of the beast titan.
but the yearn for peace is what really recruited her. nyame wanted to meet the supposed devils of paradis and she believed that no one deserved to be chained from their freedom.
so when the peace of calm ocean water and the sailing of the travelling military ship is disrupted by the roaring sound of waves and the growls of some being that she could not see, she knew that they had made it to where they needed to be. the then seventeen-year-old loses her footing and almost falls down the length of the ship into the water, but onyankopon grabs her arm and her body remains suspended in air as he holds on to some platform.
the ship moves in the air and nyame feels a forceful breeze push against her while the rush of blood pulsates in her ears. when the titan puts down the ship, nyame’s body roughly hits the floor and a dull pain releases from the side she landed on. she helps her older brother up, her eyes only paying attention to him and any possible injuries before a woman’s voice rings out over the landscape.
“hello ladies and gentlemen of marley! welcome to the island of paradis!” nyame’s head snaps to a brunette soldier wearing a cloak and an eye patch, there’s a large smile on their face as they greet the marleyan soldiers.
the excitement the eldian exuded surprised nyame and for a second she thought that their behavior wasn’t necessarily fit for the situation. however, nyame’s thoughts are pulled towards the titan that was towering over the ship. an amazed gasp leaves her throat as she continued to gaze up to him and ignored the situation happening around them.
pushing a curl from in front of her face, her eyes continue to graze up the toned body of the attack titan. raven hair curtained its face, but she could still see piercing eyes and sharp teeth. she’s seen titans before as it was marley’s greatest defense in wars, but none had ever been able to mesmerize her as much as the one that stood before her.
a gunshot is what brings nyame’s attention back. yelena is holding a pistol up and nyame’s eyes sink down to the floor at the bullet’s victim. a strangled choke unwittingly escapes, and kopo gives her a quick look. it isn’t for long though, as he quickly moves to constraints someone making their way towards the tall, blonde soldier.
their motives are questioned by their fellow marleyan soldiers, but yelena makes an announcement to the yelling host. “hange. i’m honored to receive your invitation. now, how about that tea?”
nyame stays planted beside her older brother while the others kneel behind yelena. from the corner of her eye, nyame notices someone abruptly move, making his way towards yelena’s back. and without thinking, nyame runs towards the approaching body and with no ounce of hesitation in her, she raises her leg and kicks the soldier’s throat with her shin. with a swinging movement, she leads the blonde man down to the floor on his back, his breaths coming out rapidly and with struggle due to the force nyame hit him with. her body continues rotating until her leg makes it back to the ship floor with a loud thud and now she was facing her audience. she blows  directed at the new curl that obstructed her view and one of her hands comes up to lay on her hip.
onyankopon looks at her with a look of pride, but yelena looks a little surprised, as nyame has never shown that sort of protectiveness towards her before. nyame shrugs and glances up to the person named hange, who also has a look of surprise embellishing their face.
yelena wrenches her head from the combative soldier towards the titan. “i’ve so wanted to meet you, eren...” she says and the name settles in the mind of nyame.
eren.
it was a beautiful name and although nyame had only seen his titan form, she knew he was probably an interesting person. the concept of eldians having the power to shift into titans, astonished her and this was the closest she’d ever been to one. and she wasn’t scared. she couldn’t wait to see his human face.
nyame keeps quiet as she moves beside her brother. the resisting marleyan soldiers are taken somewhere under the guard of some of the paradis soldiers, but she alongside onyankopon and yelena are lead to a tent and offered tea.
she looks at the gloomy man that sat across from her. his face unphased by the conversation happening between yelena and hange. a gun and its bullets are displayed on the table, its nothing nyame hasn’t seen before and at that point all she cared about was the titan and the gear that she saw on their hips when they first were invited. the short man’s voice beckons her and she sees his mouth move barely as he replied to yelena.
“how about that. hmph.”
“that means you’ve killed all the pure titans on the island...isn’t that right?” yelena inquires. the news surprises nyame. multiple countries, including her own, has had trouble battling with the titans. she wanted to learn how to do that. she needed to know.
“we are the anti-marleyan volunteers.” yelena announces and nyame holds her head up high, okay with having such a title bestowed upon her. “our goal... is to free the eldian people.”
hange and the man – who nyame learned was named levi – look between the three of the them, levi’s eyes training on nyame for just a second longer, her actions from on the ship still replaying in his mind. this gives her enough courage to question their techniques and motives.
“i’ve heard about your gear. the ones that can make you fly. is it possible that i have access to it?” the impassive look is still present on levi’s face and hange looks at nyame with a calculating look, before a cheek crushing smiles breaks out onto their face. nyame can feel a little tension rise off of her chest.
“let us first plead your case to our military council and maybe we’ll exchange more information about technology.” nyame doesn’t reply with words, just a firm nod and her eyes are back to the empty teacup that sat on her table.
it takes some time, but the eldians of paradis are accepting the advice the volunteers have offered. yelena helps with luring multiple marley ships into a trap involving either the attack or colossal titan. onyankopon uses his knowledge to help with the development of a port. nyame hangs around him and listens of course, inputting some information her brother didn’t reiterate but this wasn’t her best skill. nyame is most helpful when it comes to the weapons.
it was something that came naturally to her. dismantling them, cleaning them, putting them together, creating new ways for them to function better. using them. she was a phenomenal markswoman and that’s what got her the position to teach the scout regiment how to shoot using rifles newer the ones they already had.
and that’s how she formally met eren.
the volunteers were kept an appropriate distance away from eren yeager. nyame understood, the situation of it all was a mess in the world and she wasn’t gonna try to decipher it.
the two teenagers eyes meet briefly and although they had never spoken words to one another, it was like eren’s eyes saw right through nyame. like he knew all her intentions and fears, like a connection between them was bound to happen. at that moment she was grateful that her skin was darker than her peers, because if the heat that was invading her face could be displayed, she’d be red and embarrassed.
she turns her attention away and instead focuses on sasha, who has picked the technique of marksmanship quicker than her fellow soldiers. she squats next to her, watching her movements as she aims at a target down the field. a wind blows around them causing for nyame’s hair to dance into her face.
eren sees this and the movement of the wind weaving through nyame’s dark coils entrance him. it’s the first thing that has been able to do so in a while. her hair doesn’t move like everyone else’s, but instead in huge heaps that she caresses out of her face, a small grin accompanying the action every time. eren saw that she didn’t seem bothered by the repetitive action, she just looked pretty. a remark made by connie forces him back to the dismantling of the rifle.
“why don’t you tie your hair up?” sasha asks the markswoman, looking away from the rifle.
“my mother used to braid my hair down, i used to do it too. but there’s no need for the occasion, so i leave it.”
“i heard you wanted to use the odm gear.” sasha remarks, a look of curiosity on her face. “if that’s so, it would be best to either cut it or put it up. maybe go back to braiding it down.”
“maybe,” nyame shrugs, lifting the rifle back up and immediately sending out a shot that pierces the center of her target. when the rifle comes back down, sasha is holding out an extra hair tie, hinting that nyame take it. and she does. she gathers as much of her hair as she could and folds it into the tie’s embrace.
when the titan shifter looks up again, he sees that he hair is pulled away opening her face to him more. he notices the beauty mark that sits at the corner of her eye. her eyes squint and a dimple appears on her cheek when she chuckles, a result of a compliment sasha gave her. eren didn’t understand how someone could capture his attention so easily. maybe because she was a new being on the island or maybe because he wanted to know the inner workings of her being.
eren is watched over by his friends and superiors so at first he doesn’t get a chance to interact with her. but when connie has trouble putting together the advanced rifle, nyame has to step in.
swiftly, nyame pulls apart the weapon again and eren watches her move, slender and quick. and although evidence shows that she works with her hands, they look smooth to him. she explains what was missing from their work, but he barely catches what she is saying, hoping that someone will explain it to him again later because all he wants to do is hear he talk.
soon the rifle is put together again and she holds it out to eren, a smile on her face. the gesture surprises him since a lot of the outsiders have only been glancing at him with a look of fear. but in her eyes there was no trace. he could clearly see the amusement in her eyes as wrinkles formed around them.
“eren, are you going to take it?” she asks and the name on her lips is overbearing. he wants to hear her say it again, over and over. in any other way that she could say it and he’d do anything to get her to. wordlessly, he reaches for the rifle in her hand and their fingertips brush, and they both momentarily steal a moment for the touch to linger. his fingers are warm and they compliment hers, sending a jolt to the pits of her stomach.
nyame is sure that he heard the deep breath that she sweeps into her lungs. her bottom lip folds between her teeth as a shy gesture and eren can’t stop himself from looking at the action. pink dusts his cheeks, so faint that jean would not have been able to tease him about it, but from where nyame was slouching in front of him, she could see it. and it is a sight for sore eyes.
and that’s only the beginning.
_______
not gonna lie, i hate the ending of this part. but oh well. next chapter won’t really deal with the manga/anime. we’ll see nyema as her own person and see more of her interactions with other members of the scout regiment and the anti-marleyan volunteers. let me know what you think. like and reblog if you enjoyed it.
