Bro y'all gotta stop pitting my mans against the sexymen. All he wants to do is be lazy and sleep in his lil' station. Give him a break.
Look at what you've done to him.

So it seems we've found a way to get tumblr to go to the polls. All we have to do to crush republicans in 2024 is rebrand Biden as a sexyman

"You don't know who Cecil Palmer is? Oh you must be a young ignorant little gay"
No bitch idk who that is bc I'm not American and didn't know English when that podcast was at it's "peak"
Istg I know we joke about Americans thinking they're the whole world, but sometimes it is so subtly true it actually makes me ick.

one of the funniest things about this is that my best friend loves undertale and i’ve never played, but i love wtnv and it’s never listened to it so we’re arguing in dms constantly about these polls

love how during the final sexyman poll you’d see posts that were like, “Who is this ‘sans undertale’ person. I have NEVER heard of him. HIS game must have come out in the past 3 years or so.. one of these new wave sexymen.. Cecil, on the other hand.. well he was created in 1455 and his age obviously proves him to be the true sexyman 😏”and it had like 500 notes.

So, I found myself questioning why my friends and I had such different interpretations of tumblr sexy men/women, so I did some digging.
It seems that Sexymen & women can be broken down into three distinct time periods, and based on when you were thrown into the depths of this wretched site, would determine your interpretation of the concept.
The first time period: Pre-2015
[Note: This is my era] Now, those that emerged in the tumblr community during the early years had a different style of sexy men than what presents itself today. Due to the obscurity of fandoms that existed at the time, sexy men & women seemed to be all about humanizing the monstrous/villainous. This could have a lot to do with early cringe culture, openly stating you were into monsterf*cking, or that you liked villains because they were evil was still seen as quite a taboo topic, so; it wasn't uncommon for artists and other tumblr users to turn the taboo into something more appropriate. Bill Cipher & Tony the clock were often drawn in an anthropomorphism aesthetic, The Onceler was stripped of his inhumanity and twinkified & characters like Cecil Palmer, who were faceless monsters, were put to human faces.
2015 aka the Sans Era
[Where the majority of my friends sit] This era, was redefining the sexy men & women era, as undertale was filled to the brim with monstrous beings on all sorts of morality scales, and the preconceived idea of monsters = taboo shifted. So, when artists and writers etc. started to express their fascination with sans, not much of him changed. They drew him as the skeleton man he was and that's it. It was a period of monster acceptance.
Post 2015- The Monsterfication Era
Let's face it, after people started to accept liking monsters in general, the monsterf*cking community emerged. It felt safe to express themselves, as the community seemed relatively fine with undertale content that they allowed themselves to talk about the more kinky/taboo/ or just weird parts of monsters. As such, the sexy men & women community changed to incorporate monsters of all shapes and sizes, and tumblr users started to monsterfy characters who were generally seen as mild monsters or somewhat eldritch beings into something beyond humanely recognizable. Examples like danganronpa characters which are mostly human, but sometimes are depicted as beyond such, and the Magnus archives which take supernatural beings and transform them into incomprehensible creatures. etc.
Summary
So, it's easy to see that debating on when you emerged on tumblr and what fandoms you have centered around that the definition of a sexy man or woman may be different to you than others. It might be a monster turned human, a literal monster depiction, or something unfathomably not human, but all are sexy men, and all are valid.
