Completed their teams for this post, though some of them don’t really have a true “complete” team, since they give away each other’s Pokemon to one another!

Some notes;

Ludwig and Felix purposely have teams that mirror each other. The Darmanitans are royal Pokemon from their mother and father respectively, while Volcarona and Jellicent are meant to evoke a “true ruler / false ruler” vibe.

The twins’ Gligar and Sneasel don’t evolve due to not having the needed items.

Ludwig’s Absol senses disaster, while Felix’s Espeon sees the future. Felix’s Espeon is the same Eevee from The Heart’s party.

Finally, their respective Karrablast and Shelmet don’t evolve until after they trade with one another, a gesture that only happens after the end of their journey; they do so knowing they won’t see each other again.

Anita’s Larvesta is the child of Ludwig’s Volcarona, which she only receives as a present before Ludwig leaves the kingdom. While she takes care of it.. a part of her resents him for leaving the responsibility of the kingdom to her, so it doesn’t reach its full potential.

Anita’s Claydol is the same one in Priest Harmonia’s party. He gave her to him as a gift, in the event of his passing and she needed guidance.

Anita’s Pansear was raised by Babel’s Simisage. Babel gave the Pansear to her because of their similar personalities, though Anita thinks Pansear’s fondness for sounds and listening is similar to Babel’s traits.

Grey’s Mamoswine is the same Piloswine from The Heart’s party. The Heart gave Piloswine to him to show his support for The Hero of Ideals’ goals.

Grey’s Frillish is the child of Felix’s Jellicent. Though it doesn’t evolve, it’s pampered and spoiled throughout its lifetime with Grey.

Babel’s Meloetta stays by her side until she dies of old age. When she does, it accompanies Rosalita, knowing Babel wants Rosalita to carry on what she could not continue.

Babel’s Simisage was one of the Pokemon in Priest Harmonia’s temple, though it always seemed to like her. When Anita became queen, it started accompanying her more and more, as she grew to the role of royal advisor.

Rosalita’s Marill is the same Azurill from The Heart’s party. The Heart gave Azurill to her to show his support for The Hero of Ideals’ goals.

Rosalita’s Mantine was caught near the shores of the sea temple where The Heart was laid to rest. She uses this Mantine to deliver gifts to the temple when it sinks, as well as furthering her knowledge on the temple to aid Babel in preserving its history and existence.

The Heart technically only has one Pokemon; his Tirtouga. His Lampent is one of the Litwick that Priest Harmonia cares for, and the three Pokemon he has under his care were given to The Hero of Ideals and his party as a show of support.

The Golurk in The Heart’s party is the guardian of the temple where he is laid to rest, though it is said his spirit is the sole companion of the Golurk for centuries.

Priest Harmonia’s Sigilyph lives on until modern times, becoming a guardian to the sinking Relic Castle and the companion of the restless spirits of the Hero of Truth, whose grief bound the rest of their companions to the castle.

The Litwick in Priest Harmonia’s party is one of the many Litwicks he has in his temple. Curiously, they always seem to glow brighter around The Heart.

Hello, humans and Pokémon alike! I am Clover, just another student from Naranja Academy. My pronouns are she/her and I like bugs.

And I'm Rotom! He/They pronounzzz for me! I'm Clover'zzz partner in crime and navigator!

I joined Rotomblr so I can share my thoughts and experiences as I explore Paldea. This is my first year taking part in the Treasure Hunt, after about two years of overpreparing.

I'm a big fan of bug-types, though that might be a bit obvious... I'm also a big history nerd.

You mentioned that some of the characters were based on Pokémon. Which Pokémon were the characters based off of? Some of them are more obvious than others - I immediately recognized Tichiko as Lucario, for instance - but I'm curious where the rest came from!

(also their designs slap immensely. I hope you know that.)

I feel like I'm cheating, picking all the easy to answer questions first--

SO, the truth is

The main cast were actually based off all the pokemon and fakemon I had on my team at some point in time that I got super emotionally attached to in a pokemon fan game called Pokemon: Xenoverse (Per Aspera Ad Astra)

I had been thinking about the idea of making them characters and a story for awhile, and I had even started to while I was playing, but then my laptop broke (we literally can't even lift the screen :,) ) and I would never be able to play with that particular team again, and I was super crushed! Sure, I could get the game on my new computer, but it would never be the same, yknow?

That's when I really dived into making these guys their own story!

So, let me tell you what each of these characters were based off of;

Shi-Shi - Shyleon (all 3 forms!)

Karu - Hikooloo (although I finally evolved him shortly before my computer broke,,,)

Lancelot - (shiny) Hercurcules

Vee - gen 1 Eevee

La Bomba - Xenoverse Electabuzz

Shein - Xenoverse Sharpedo

Leona - Xenoverse Ponyta

Leep - Mareep

Feal - (shiny) Feraligatr (I evolved him from a totodile,,)

Lancelot, Vee, Feal, and I think maybe even Leep too, where all pokemon I'd received from events!

Once I started expanding the world, I really liked the idea of sticking to inspiration from Pokemon fan games-- it just seemed like a silly little quirk! But the only other fan games I had been playing I'd started making a separate story based off of them too!

And thats when I discovered the Pokemon Infinite Fusion fan game and its fusion calculator

I thought it would be really silly to use that for the base of the rest of the characters, so, let me tell you who their bases are too;

Aellera - Dragonair/Zoroark

Baena - Charizard/Zoroark

Tichiko - Poliwrath/Luzario

Ripp - Larvesta/Riolu

Kertz - Entei/Donphan

(And I don't know if I've quite introduced all of these guys yet, but--)

Vein - Houndoom/Genesect (I believe?? I dont entirely remember tbh)

Spatz - Raichu/Sandslash

(I also used the fusion calculator a little bit to help inspire me with Feal and Leep to pull their designs away from their original inspos a little more, but they're still mostly their original bases!)

¡Introduction post!

Alola! First post here! In case you do not know me, I am Apoālewa, Champion of Alola! If my name is too difficult to pronounce that's ok, You can call me Dugga!

Here are my current pokemon with some info!

Evo the Sylveon, he's my service pokemon that helps me keep in check and ensure I'm under control of myself, he's an absolute sweetheart! He was a gift from my older half sister when I first met her(she had to adopt me after some unfortunate things that happened to me, I do not wish to say what exactly)

Mr.Squirt("lil Mister") the Primarina, my Ace in battle, he's been with me since I started my Island trials, as you can tell I was not the best at names when I was younger. He's quite a calm, gentle pokemon who enjoys his naps. He's also quite the Peirs enjoyer, you should see him make his way into whatever room has that guy's music playing!

Midnight the Lycanroc, you can guess by the name what variant of lycanroc she is lol, she's the playfully rough kind of pokemon, always nibbling on me or my clothes, rubbing her rocky parts on stuff(lost so much furniture to her). She's also what i like to call a "screamer", basically she doesn't bark, woof, ruff none of that, but SCREAMS like a bolthound that found something(usually at the late hours of the night too)

Jell-o the (shiny) Goodra, my only shiny pokemon, I found him as a goomy during a pause of rain near Po town I think, poor thing was dry from the sun:(, i got him near a shaded puddle and began to leave, but he refused to leave my side hehe, he's also caused a lot of furniture problems, he's joyfully lazy and he won't leave my chairs alone(goodra slime is hard to get out of fabric, worse is that stuff bleaches)

E ("Esper") the Espeon, a absolutely amazing if not shy companion, I got her after seeing an ad from a shelter about an eevee(her) that was used for shiny breeding and needed a home. I feel so happy that she felt safe enough around me to evolve into such a friendship related evolution. She surprisingly great in battle, the pokemon center said if mist be therapeutic for her(i make sure shes ok before and after every battle don't worry)

Mocha the (alolan) Raichu, probably my most food motivated pokemon😅, you shake a bag of food and he comes zooming, also no one told me the move Electric Terrain made them surf faster! He had to go to the pokemon center because he zoomed indoor and hit a wall🤦‍♂️(he's ok btw, happened several months ago)

Aohd(pronounced "ay") the Volcanrona, had no clue that Volcanronas are rare in Alola until guzma lost his shit at the sight of her as a Larvesta, she tends to lounge about ouside when not battling, soaking up the sun. Also I recommend to anyone thinking of having a Volcanrona to have a large backyard with easy access to sunlight and plenty vegetation, I've learned it's vital for their diets(just a tip)

Chase the Gardevoir, not my pokemon but my sister's, she(chase) is essentially a caregiver since Kahu(my sister) left for Paldea some time ago for education purposes, she helps me with chores and errands, she also speaks via ASL(Alolan Sign Language), I pretty much look up to her as a mother figure. Not sure where exactly she came from as Kahu found her as a Ralts on Poni island and apparently the Ralts line don't reside in Alola.

Rotom-Dex the Rotom, can't forget one of the most helpful pokemon I have! They were quite chatty too after they learned they can talk with the pokedex they possess, they're quite well trained for their job too! Always giving me needed tidbits about for forgettable pokemon so i won't falter in battle! Even though they don't battle themselves, they're quite vital to my job as champion!

¡Update!

So it seems I have been transported to the past via otherworldly means and now I have to make a new team for myself to ensure saftey, i currently have-

Mr.Squirt("lil Mister), he was one of the only two pokemon that came with me unfortunately, he's still the same ol' Primarina

"Arc-Dex"(RotomDex), Rotom, they started calling themselves that after I woke up in hisui, they resemble Akari's "ArcPhone", some modified phone. They still do not battle.

Ghostface the Cyndaquil, the professor here, Laventon gave her to me to ensure I learn of the "Hisuian" veriants of pokemon here, apparently she'll become a ghost type but i remember them being pure fire type, this may be interesting.

Er… To Ash, from another timeline.

(Still weird that this craziness happened after I had to take over the gym).

Do you ever wonder about your first journey? What you could have done better if someone had stepped up to help you through those few dumb beginner mistakes? I’m gonna be honest. I don’t get the whole traveling to different timelines thing or casual time travel you sometimes do. I mean, the weirdest thing that happened when I traveled with my Ash was the whole Fake Entei incident. Those Unown were pretty powerful to cause all that.

My Ash ended up becoming a mentor to the Goh and Chloe over here. After the Sinnoh Conference. From how it differs to your Timeline, they are four years younger than you. The Mew Encounter happened two weeks before me met or so I’m told. Anyway. Both got pretty hazed and I guess the teasing was more severe? They weren’t in the best place self esteem wise so they kinda became research fellows to avoid it. And I keep finding myself surprised by how mature you became in the four years I’ve known you.

Since they were acting more as Professors assistants, both essentially shadowed your Unova Journey. All those beginner mistakes were taught to be avoided. From what I hear Chloe still ended with the same evolving-hesitant Eevee while Goh eventually found a Larvesta Egg from that School you get Scraggy from… I’ll admit for a fire bug it’s final form is pretty beautiful, though Surskit kinda broke me.

P.S.—I swear I am going to beat some self preservation into my version’s head when I saw video of you jumping off Lumiose Tower!

Also, I don't get how or why I sometimes relive my journey in other realities or something... maybe it's Arceus' way of letting me go through everything again but try to do better the second time around. So in a way, I've already seen what I could have done better back in those days! 🥳

ainana but i assign them pokemon teams ft. the fuckton of hcs that have somehow found their way into this mess

i believe in absol service pokemon propaganda. anyways riku doesn’t really believe in having a balanced team, he just loves his pokemon!! he and tenn both had eevees growing up, and his evolves into a vaporeon. he caught absol after they started just kinda sticking around, and it took a bit for him to realise that absol followed him around because they were worried about his asthma and knew how to indicate when he was about to have an attack. he found a larvesta who liked to hang around in the hood of his jacket and, after evolving, it would grab the back of his clothes so from a certain angle it almost looks like he has a weird backpack with wings. gligar he caught naturally, and while it took a bit, gligar warmed up to him a bunch and evolved into gliscore. he actually found his vivillon and floette at the same time, because they were friends even before he caught them.

yeahhh izumi “i need a balanced team and i definitely don’t have a bias toward steel/psychic types” iori. he does the thing i do where i have to have one fire/water/grass type per team. piplup was his starter, and he caught a shroomish shortly after, so those are really his aces. he’s got chansey bc he likes supporting his teammates and pokemon, and noctowl because i cannot explain it but they have the same vibes. darmanitan and metagross bc, although he will deny it, he likes steel and psychic types a lot.

ok so this accidentally gained lore so uh. won’t get too much into it past their teams. anyways mitsuki caught a gastly, found out that fossils existed, and then braintunneled. he didn’t realise there was anyone actually working on reviving fossil pokemon for a bit so his team was just haunter until they found the guy and mitsuki’s little collection suddenly came to life. he was fully planning on one-tricking gengar, but suddenly had a full team of baby Senior Pokecitizens (+gengar) and he couldn’t be happier

nagi’s team was originally just lapras and froslass, until he realised that regional variants existed. he got super excited and suddenly those were the only other pokemon on his team. he brought his lapras and froslass from a different region, only nagi actually speaks the language, so lapras and froslass are just,, constantly confused by his human partners whenever they try and talk to the two.

yamato considers his starter palpitoad, they are besties. she caught phanpy and alolan cubone on the same route, after phanpy forced itself into one of her pokeballs while cubone distracted her so. needless to say they are partners in crime. she caught kricketot next. around this time a bit after palpitoad managed to express to yamato that they don’t want to evolve further, so nagi lent her an everstone that he didn’t plan to use. next she caught nuzleaf, then flaaffy, then boom!! she had a full team. kricketune is the alarm clock of the group.

watching sougo battle is super funny because he walks around with this delcatty (formerly skitty) and his go-to pokemon is always mawile so everyone sees him and is like. oh he just likes cute pokemon! and then he pulls out a fucking salamence and everyone starts sweating. anyways he thinks his team is adorable. good for him good for him. skitty was his starter, and he shortly after setting out found a chikorita. he then found mawile, then an egg that hatched into toxel, then boldore, then shelgon.

tamaki’s starter was espurr and. she’s a bit of an ass to other people, but is also one of the best gauges tamaki has for other people’s emotions because psychic type. the first pokemon he caught was shellos because that was aya’s favourite pokemon, and he wants to give her one when he finds her again. he then caught a milcery (he nearly started crying because he thought it was so cute). he also caught applin and gible pretty early in his journey. wooper is actually his newest pokemon because after a conversation with tenn, tenn gave him an egg to take care of.

the eevee that teen had growing up evolved into sylveon, and he considers them his starter. he believes in having a balanced team, but doesn’t put it into practice. he got a type:null from kujou, and they didn’t get along for a while, but slowly found common ground and are now fiercely protective. he caught a feebas fishing, and a vibrava that had accidentally burrowed under trigger’s camp one night. he found mimikyu a bit later, and snom was the last pokemon he added to his team.

riolu was his starter, and is now his ace. minccino started following him around relatively early into his journey, so he decided fuck it and picked them up to carry around with him. he found a wimpod trying to run away from a psyduck, and just went ahead and caught both. in a cave he caught a noibat, and a few days later found a swadloon. his lucario is definitely the peacemaker of the team, since his pokemon can get a bit rowdy, even if they mean well.

hehe the guy. his starter is emolga, who has a wonderful habit of befriending random wild pokemon, which is how he caught half of his team lmao. he first caught chinchou fishing with tenn. emolga then befriended a pumpkaboo that he was happy to catch, then befriended an onyx which scared the shit out of all of them. emolga then led a togetic back to him, and he had to sit them down and seriously explain that he loved them but this was an intervention. he got a dratini egg from his family relatively late into his journey.

other than flashbacks, all characters are about a few years younger than their irl age (e.g. tommy's 18 irl, so he's like 14/15)

Tommy has a Pikachu as his starter

i saw someone ask this, so yes, dream's Eevee is named Patches!

Patches is a female Eevee, but i initially drew her as a male

Tommy currently has 3 pokemon; Pikachu, Riolu and Larvesta

Larvesta is named Clementine

Philza is the champion :>

So to make it a bit easier I've decided to make a list of all the Pokemon that currently call the rescue they're home be they mine or just residents

Pokemon currently owned by me

Berlyn-my first Pokemon who is a three legged houndoom

Frosty-a kanto/alolan ninetales hybrid

Shock and soak a vishzolt/zoltvish I rescued alongside other illegal fossil revivals but they where the only ones to wish to be permanent residents so I had they're ball registered under my name

Sigyn or siggy as I call them a oddly colored galarian meowth I caught during a business trip to galar

Artie or artemis as I call her she is a close friend of mine but she is not mine in the sense that I caught her but if things got hairy at the rescue during one of her visit I can trust her to listen to what I say(ooc artemis is a latias who from unknown reasons lost her twin and bonded with alex as a surrogate twin in a way)

Blaze a valcarona I got as a surprise when a friend of mine had given me a egg she found abandoned in what they thought was a dustox nest but after I hatched the egg and saw that blaze was a larvesta she believes either it was a miss identified valcarona nest or one of blazes parents was a dustox

Auburn a half and half vulpix or a more heavily mixed kanto alola vulpix hybrid

Salt or salty is a litten mightyena/poochyena variant/hybrid I had adopted her from a rescue in galar

Thunder is a odd jolteon who I had since he was a eevee I do not know how he evolved but a friend of mine believes that he must have went out during a thunder storm while I was asleep and evolved from that and not a stone

Drippy is a reuniclus that has a more water like jell unlike most of his kind and can healthily keep plants in it with out harming himself me and a friend of mine believes he must be a hybrid between a unknown water type

And drippy's three koi remoraids who are named drip drop and droplet

Chomps is a tropical victreebel I got as a bellsprout egg that came with the shipment of berry plants I ordered from alola it is still unknown how they're egg got mixed up with the shipments I usually keep them in my small green house I use for my more high maintenance plant types

And then there's the oddish triplets one oddishes and a sunkern oddish hybrid and a budew oddish hybrid they are now walking around and still live in the greenhouse with the rare sleepover in my house

Turnip-the sunkern oddish hybrid

Radish- a light blue to purple oddish with stripes almost like a radish

And lumpy a budew/oddish hybrid covered in small bumps

Spector a hisuien zorua given to me randomly as an egg by a group calling them the de-extinctionists

fluffy a hisuien growlithe given to me by the same group as spector

Three polygons adopted from a friend of mine named alex

And then bip who unlike most polygons did not have they're eyes and those three came as a package deal because of how they have bonded to each and help bip be able to move around and have a happy life

Magicians can join in Pokemon battles and aid their Pokemon and vice versa, but a magician attacking a Pokemon for no reason is absolutely off limits; people battle for the same reasons they do in the games, money, prestige, or practice. Pokemon also serve as companions and defenders of their respective trainers.

- Grey London is the only place that has Pokeballs. In the other Londons you just carry your Pokemon around.

The Teams:

Kell- At the beginning of ADSOM, Kell has a Klefki (his first Pokemon), an Oricorio, a blue Flabebe (Which evolves Post-ADSOM) and an Eevee (It evolves into Vaporeon in his final fight with Holland). After ADSOM he gets a Furfrou and a Mimikyu. Most of Kell’s Pokemon are small and largely untrained because Kell hates battling; he’d much rather just let his Pokemon hide in his coat and do the dueling or fighting himself. After fighting Holland, Kell begins to devote more time to training his Pokemon so they can get stronger. Like him, his Pokemon are high-strung, especially Mimikyu, so Kell often has Calla make Mimikyu little coats like his so it feels safe. Kell also always carries nectars for Oricorio in his coat.

Lila- Lila starts the series with a Purrloin (her first Pokemon, it never evolves), a Houndoom, a Noibat (it evolves in AGOS when she fights the kidnapper guys), and a Fraxure (it evolves when she battles Astrid). Post ADSOM she gains a Thieval and a Night-form Lycanroc. Like their Trainer, Lila’s Pokemon are fast, strong, and they don’t care about collateral damage. Her team starts out significantly stronger than Kell’s because she relied on her Pokemon to help her survive, and she never stops training them so they can get stronger. Once she gets the opportunity in Red London, Lila spoils her Pokemon rotten, and it becomes one of her favorite pastimes.

Holland- Holland only has three Pokemon at the start, courtesy of the Danes; a Galarian Corsola (his main Pokemon), an Absol, and a Grimmsnarl. After he becomes king, he finds a Golurk and receives Stakataka from Osaron. When he gets stuck in Red London, he also finds a Ralts. Holland makes up for his small team with his own magic, and though wild Pokemon are seen as nuisances in White London, Holland loves all Pokemon dearly and wants to make the world better for them. He has the gift that allows him to speak to Pokemon, something Kell is very jealous of. His Pokemon are as roughed up and traumatized as he is, but they love their Trainer and are wickedly strong, much stronger than Kell’s and Lila’s.

Rhy- Rhy starts the series with all of his Pokemon; he has a Talonflame, a Larvesta (it evolves in ACOL), a Yamper, a mega-evolving Ampharos, a Kommo-O, and an Arcanine. His team is strong and well-trained early on because Rhy enjoys battling much more than Kell does, seeing it as a way to make up for his weak magic. Like Holland, Rhy also has the power to talk to Pokemon, which he uses to great effect in battle when commanding his team.

Alucard- Like Rhy, Alucard starts out with all of his Pokemon, and none of them need to evolve. He has a Glameow (Esa), a male Unfeazant (His first Pokemon), a Gyrados, a Golisopod, a Floatzal, and a Crawdaunt. Alucard enjoys battling but mostly has his Pokemon help him sail; the water-types help around the ship, Unfeazant scouts for land, and Esa keeps him company. He and Lila train together often, and he helps her team learn several important moves that she uses later on.

Athos- He has a Zangoose, a Seviper, an Obstagoon, an Arbok, a Beartic, and a female Meowstic. All of Athos Pokemon are nasty, brutal, and sadistic, especially Meowstic. Athos spoils them and gives them free reign to do what they want, so they attack and kill people, Pokemon, and anything they can get their claws on; Holland is often the unfortunate recipient of this behavior as his blood makes them much stronger. Athos has very little strategy beyond “kill it,” but that doesn’t mean he’s easy to take down, and if you lose the battle, you’re not just losing money- you’re losing your life.

Astrid- Astrid has a Weavile, a Venomoth, a Mandibuzz, a Yanmega, a Mawile, and a male Meowstic. Astrid’s Pokemon are a lot calmer than Athos’, but they are much worse to fight, as she focuses less on damage and more on status effects and control. She uses Meowstic to possess other people and Pokemon (so does Athos), and once they’re of no use to her she leaves them for her Pokemon. She can often be found on her throne with Meowstic curled in her lap, a sure sign she’s in somebody else’s body and not her own.

Maxim- Maxim has a male Pyroar, a Durant, a Tyrantrum, a mega-evolving Aggron, a Falinks, and a mega-evolving Garchomp. All of the Steel-types are relics from his days as the Steel Prince; his team is deeply loyal and well-mannered, though they are a bit more playful than their Trainer. They sometimes help Rhy to prank Maxim, knowing full well he loves them too much to discipline them.

Emira- Emira has a female Pyroar, a Milotic, a Leavanny, a Swanna, an Aurorus, and a Lapras. Emira’s Pokemon are her rocks, helping her with her nerves as she runs the palace. They are dutiful and protective; after the Shadows incident they joined Emira in sleeping outside of Rhy’s rooms, ready to defend their prince from any threat. Unlike Emira, however, they are more liberal with their affection and treat Rhy and Kell equally; they don’t understand all of the events that lead to Emira’s frostiness, only that it’s not good for her or Kell.

Teiren- Teiren’s main Pokemon is a Drampa, although he takes care of Hastra’s Dragonite and Herdier when he dies.

Okja- Ojka has a Bisharp, a Corviknight, a Froslass, a Gallade, and a Kartana she recieves from Holland.

Ned- Ned has a Spewpa, a Dreepy, a Wurmple, a Bunnelby, and a Tranquill. They help him around the shop.

Osaron- Osaron is a bit of a funny case, because he technically is a Pokemon, or actually several; Black London is actually the Ultra Realm, and Osaron is Necrozma (with a slightly more human appearance). He can control other legendaries like Necrozma does in the games, specifically Darkrai and a destructive legendary from each London; Yveltal for Red, Girantina for Grey, Kyurem for White. In his final form though, Osaron becomes Eternatus, and he’s nearly impossible to defeat, as he just gigantimaxs his own team of legendaries. It’s kind of hard to explain, but the main thing is he’s tough, ancient, and has no concept of right or wrong, just like in the books.

- After Holland “dies” in ADSOM, Kell ends up taking his Pokemon with him back to Red London (Pokemon have no trouble traveling), as he’s unwilling to leave them to get mauled but also didn’t want them to go to Black London with their dead trainer. None of them like him (for obvious reasons), and it’s a steep learning curve for Kell when he has to deal with Grimmsnarl, who keeps trying to kill him, Absol, who keeps trying to run away, and Corsola, who alternates between pelting him with rocks and lying in bed too depressed to do anything. The only thing that seems to help is taking them to the riverside (Holland did this often and his Pokemon love it), but even that goes south when Holland’s Galarian Corsola meets the much healthier, normal Corsola that live in Red London, who have no idea what’s wrong with it and frantically run away. Even Rhy talking to the Pokemon doesn’t work; they just continue to make Kell’s life miserable, which adds to the stress Kell gets in AGOS.

- Kell brings Holland’s Pokemon with him when he follows Ojka; seeing them alive and well-cared is the only thing that keeps Holland from killing Kell horribly outright.

- After Holland’s real death, Kell adopts them again. Corsola is the exception, as it goes with Holland to die in White London. They don’t come with him on his adventures with Lila; Teiren looks after them while Kell is gone.

- The Inheritor is a Master Ball. I don’t make the rules, it just is.

- The Essen Tach works just like it does in canon, but you can bring one Pokemon with you and you are free to mega-evolve it if you are able. Kell brings Vaporeon, Lila brings Houndoom, and Alucard brings Gyrados. Kisemyr brings an Incineroar, Rul a mega-evolving Manecetric, and Jinnar a mega Charizard Y.

- The Danes’ Pokemon die with them or run away into White London, never to be seen again. Maxim’s Aggron dies with him and Aurorus with Emira. The rest of their Pokemon are taken care of by the Sanctuary.

- Kyurem, under Osaron’s influence, is responsible for White London’s perpetual winter.

- In return for keeping the Master Ball with Osaron, Ned makes Kell have a Pokemon battle with him. He doesn’t win, but he does enjoy it.

I am very sorry for the delay! Explanation for the Pokemon choices is under the read more. For some of them I couldn’t think of a really good explanation so I just wrote headcanons instead.

Makoto:

I chose popular, cheerful and friendly Pokemon for him. The only exception is Skarmory.

Rockruff - Makoto used to have a dog during his childhood. Rockruff is a very friendly and sociable Pokemon and it’s a perfect match for Makoto.

Eevee - Eevee is a very playful and cheerful Pokemon and like Rockruff they are also very friendly. Just like Rockruff, Eevee fits Makoto a lot.

Togetic - Togetic is known as the happiness Pokemon and is said to appear in front of kindhearted and caring people and Makoto is a very kindhearted and caring person. Togetic might not be that popular, but Togepi is very popular.

Pikachu - Pikachu is the mascot and undeniably the most popular Pokemon. Makoto tends to like popular stuff so I can totally see him having a Pikachu.

Charmander - Once again a very popular Pokemon.

Skarmory - In middle school Makoto nursed a crane back to health and Skarmory is the closest flying type to a crane.

Kaito

I chose space related Pokemon for him as well as Pokemon that fit his personality.

Solrock, Lunatone, Clefable, Minior - All of them are related to space in some way. Solrock is based on the sun, Lunatone is based on the moon, it is said that Cleffa came to earth on meteorites and Minior is said to be formed in the ozone layer.

Braviary - Braviary is a very brave and loyal Pokemon. They fight for their friends without any thought of danger for themselves, if it’s for the sake of it’s friends it won’t stop fighting even if it’s injured. Kaito is shown to be very loyal to his friends and friendship is very important to him. Kaito views himself as the hero type and Braviary is known as “the hero of the sky” in Alola.

Flareon - Flareon and Jolteon are the two eeveelutions that I thought fit Kaito the most in the end I chose Flareon because I personally think Fire types fit Kaito more than Electric types.

Shuichi

Meowstic - Meowstic’s design reminds me a lot of Shuichi.

Umbreon - I chose Umbreon not only because of the ask, but also because of Umbreon’s design. Just like Meowstic, Umbreon’s design reminds a lot of Shuichi.

Noctowl - Noctowl is a very intelligent Pokemon and can definitely help Shuichi his detective work. Noctowl’s eyes are specially adapted and can see clearly during the night so it can very well help Shuichi when he is investigating during night time.

Growlithe - Growlithe has an amazing sense of smell and once it smells something it never forgets it. Just like Noctowl, Growlithe can help Shuichi with his detective work.

Dewott - I took inspiration from the Pokemon Adventures manga. Blake, who is a member of the international police has a Dewott and so I gave Shuichi Dewott.

Sobble - Sobble looks like a very timid Pokemon and Shuichi is very timid when it comes to speaking. I just think Sobble really fits him.

Kiibo

I chose mostly Steel and Electric types for him.

Magneton and Klink - A lot of people often complain about Magneton and Klink’s designs and often insult these Pokemon because of how they look or because of their origin. Kiibo, being a robot, understands how these two Pokemon feel.

Porygon - Porygon is a man-made Pokemon and Kiibo is well.... also man-made.

Rotom - He most likely received Rotom from Professor Ibadashi. Rotom is a very mischievous Pokemon and probably tries to posses Kiibo quite often. Rotom is also able to charge Kiibo’s batteries.

Shinx and Jolteon - Shinx and Jolteon are both very cheerful Pokemon and often try to help Kiibo understand humans and Pokemon better. Kiibo is an easy target for bullying and both Jolteon and Shinx often try to defend their trainer. Both of them are also able to charge Kiibo’s batteries.

Gonta

I gave him a lot of bug types as well as Leafeon.

Leafeon - Leafeon is a very peaceful and gentle Pokemon and Gonta is a very gentle person. Leafeon prefers not to fight, Gonta also prefers not to fight others.

Scyther and Larvesta - Both of them are rare Pokemon in certain regions. Despite how rare they are, Gonta found both of them, befriended them and in the end caught them.

Golisopod and Yanmega - Both of them are scary looking Pokemon. Despite it’s scary appearance Golisopod spends a lot of it’s time peacefully meditating. Golisopod is misunderstood because of it’s appearance and same goes for Gonta. Unlike Golisopod, Yanmega is not as peaceful, but I personally think Gonta’s Yanmega is more peaceful and gentle than an average one.

Heracross - Just like Scyther and Larvesta, Heracross is quite rare. Heracross is usually docile, however it’s also a very strong Pokemon and can throw objects 100 times its own weight. I personally think that Heracross fits Gonta a lot.

I won’t go immensely in-depth because a) that’d take forever and b) I want to do separate posts and drawings and stuff for a bunch of these

Okay, so, going in the order that I mentioned them in the tags:

(whoops this is going under a cut because It Got Long)

The Pokemon AU

More of a fusion than strictly an AU, I guess, because it’s pretty much “canon, but there are pokemon”.

I’ve determined full teams for the whole ‘crew, along with the genders, levels, abilities, natures, and movesets of all of their pokemon. I got… really into it. I went way too detailed with their teams. I even know what kind of pokeball each of their pokemon are in. I’m in the process of nicknaming them. I’ve also got scatterings of backstory for how they came to have each of the pokemon in their teams!

For now, I’ll tell you what their teams are, along with the nicknames and such of their pokemon. More in-depth stuff (such as aforementioned abilities and movesets and also the backstories) should probably be saved for a different post.

Diath:

“Cath” - Klefki - ♂

Ninjask - ♀

Scyther - ♀

Liepard - ♂

“Dawnguide” - Absol - ♀

“Gutter” - Aegislash - ♂

The pattern I went with for nicknaming Diath’s pokemon is based off of the one thing we’ve seen him name in canon - Moonsplinter. So the nicknames for his pokemon, when I eventually come up with them, will be two nouns put together into a name that connects what was named to someone or something important to him. Cath and Gutter are exceptions to the pattern because they were gift pokemon and came with the names (…sort of, in Cath’s case).

Evelyn:

“Morning Glory” - Rapidash - ♀

“Periwinkle” - Lycanroc (Midnight Forme) - ♀

“Thistleberry” - Eevee - ♂

“Sunflower” - Larvesta - ♀

“Jonquil” - Solrock - N/A

“Juniper” - Pichu - ♀

The pattern I went with for nicknaming Evelyn’s pokemon started with Morning Glory and Juniper - I figured that since Evelyn showed a predilection towards plant names in canon, it was as good a theme as any to run with. Thistleberry is the closest to breaking that pattern, since I’ve been unable to find out if that’s actually a real plant (I’ve found thimbleberries but not thistleberries, so I feel like they might be a fantasy thing) in which case you could argue that he was named for Evelyn’s favourite pie. The reasoning for Sunflower should be obvious, a jonquil is a kind of flower similar to a daffodil which sort of resembles a sun in shape, and periwinkles mean “early friendship” in flower language, and Evie sure does make friends fast.

Jonquil may or may not mean “I desire a return of affection” in flower language but sshhhh, that was unintentional

Strix:

“Fuzzywuzz” - Venomoth - ♂

“Waffles” - Ursaring - ♀

Mismagius - ♀

“Stinky Junior” - Garbodor - ♀

“Clothy McClothface” - Banette - ♀

I don’t think I really need to explain the pattern/theme for naming Strix’s pokemon because, well, *gestures at canon* I just tried to follow the existing naming patterns.

I don’t strictly have a naming pattern for Paultin, wildcard that he is. I’ve just been operating on a general rule of “regular real life name that sounds fitting” (a la him naming Simon) or “reference”.

The Superhero AU

You are getting far less information about this one because it’s going to be getting posts of its own when I finally get the drawings for it finished - I’m going to do character profiles and everything.

The basic premise is a vaguely-modern-era-ish Waterdeep (in a vaguely-modern-era-ish Faerun) has a lot of superheroes running around and the Wafflecrew happens to be one of the teams that call the city home. Diath, Strix, Evelyn and Paultin are all doing the secret identity thing and there will be shenanigans involving those because, well, here’s the thing:

The Wafflecrew is a superhero team who’s members keep their identities secret even from each other, mostly because they haven’t been together as a team for very long yet.

Diath, Strix, Evelyn, and Paultin, however, are a group of friends who happen to share a flat. Who are all trying very hard not to let on to their friends that they’re a superhero.

So. Shenanigans.

(Well, except for Diath and Strix. They know about each other’s secret identities)

I won’t tell you everyone’s codenames, though, because ~character profiles~ :3c

The Daemon AU

This one is more loosely defined than the others, to be honest. I will say, straight up, that I have never read His Dark Materials and don’t have any particular intent to, because I’ve read enough excerpts to know I could never get through it. But the concept of daemons is really cool and fun and I’ve read a ton of daemon aus and I feel no shame in yoinking the concept for an au despite never having read the source material.

Evelyn’s daemon is a Norwegian Forest Cat named Carwyn, Paultin’s is a lyrebird named Leto, Strix’s is a Barred Owl named Cináed, and Diath’s… well, if you were to ask him, he’d tell you that his daemon is a very shy house spider named Perdita. The thing is, nobody’s ever actually seen her…

Diath may or may not be in a Special Situation in this AU thanks to the whole ancient-soul-that-Shemeshka-has-part-of circumstance

The Class Swap AU

This one!! Is one that I love!! a lot!! And also one that I fully intend to give its own post with art.

It started with me realising that Mason Marthain existing presented the perfect Backstory Butterfly to play with things a little and justify Evelyn being a rogue in a class swap AU. From there, I just kept playing with their backstories to see what there was that could be tugged on to shift them to one of each other’s classes. Ultimately, my class swap AU stands as such:

Evelyn Marthain, a swashbuckler rogue. Inspired by a slightly different family member, in this universe, Evelyn decided at a young age that rather than follow in her father’s footsteps, she wanted to follow in her uncle’s. Thus, rather than training at the Spires and taking on the mantle of a paladin, she apprenticed on her Uncle’s ship throughout her childhood, and eventually became a rogue.

Diath Woodrow, an oath of devotion paladin. A childhood on the streets went just a little bit differently for Diath, this time around. After a paladin caught him preventing another street kid from pickpocketing, he got taken in by the Church of Selune and found a calling that appealed to his sense of duty and his desire for adventure at the same time. (How does the oath of devotion’s call to obey just authority mix with being chaotic good, you might ask? Well, how does one define “just” authority? In Class Swap!Diath’s case, as soon as someone abuses their power, their authority is no longer just)

Paultin Seppa, a wild magic sorceror. Paultin honestly doesn’t know where his powers came from. They’ve been at the tips of his fingers for as long as he can remember. It probably has something to do with the big swath of his childhood that he can’t remember but he’s not particularly bothered with trying to figure it out. (The thing is, a panicking, traumatised child, very much going into shock, tearing through the mists of Barovia and out of Ravenloft, all on his own and without parental supervision for the very first time, has so much potential to go wrong. He stumbled through a few less than hospitable places before he ended up on the Prime Material)

Strix, a college of glamour bard. Her years in the Feywild were harsh and this time it wasn’t Baba Yaga whose care she stumbled into. She learned a lot, living amongst the fey, and not least amongst that was how a silver tongue, with words carefully chosen and used, is a magic all of its own and also a very dangerous weapon.

I can’t say anything about the two AUs I’m currently writing fics for because spoilers~ so just know that They Exist

The Star Wars AU is extremely conceptual. It features aspiring Jedi Knight Evelyn Marthain, an Alderaanian human raised in the Coruscant Jedi Temple, travelling musician Paultin Seppa, a human of mysterious origin who has an even more mysterious knowledge of the Force, given that he seemingly has no connection to any known Force sects, galactic treasure hunter/archaeologist Diath Woodrow, a human from Coronet City on Corellia, whose heritage may-or-may-not have originated on a certain planet starting with ‘M’, and Strix, a force-sensitive woman of indeterminate species (at first glance, you might think zabrak, but zabraks don’t have tails. They also usually don’t have hair but it’s not like hybrids are completely an unknown possibility… the thing is, if she’s a hybrid, there’s no way she’s a hybrid of just two)

The RWBY AU is Exactly What It Says On The Tin. It’s just an AU where the Wafflecrew are in Remnant. They comprise Team DEPS (”Deeps”) and all I’ve really figured out is their weapons and semblances and tbh, as an AU, it’s probably not going much further than that.

I had a Lot of fun with their semblances, though.

DR x Pokemon: Super Dangan Ronpa 2

And here’s the second part of my DR x Pokemon crossover AU, this time with the cast of the second game! These guys were even more fun to design teams for than the first cast. As in the first post, let me know if you strongly disagree or agree with any of them--it is just for fun, but discussion can be fun too!

Lots of super common ‘mons here. Sorry Hajime, but it fits with your normalcy, complex about said normalcy, and inability to pay the Reserve Course fees (you can’t afford to catch anything good). The two exceptions are Eevee, which is also Normal but has lots of potential, like he does; and Larvesta, which is weak but will become a god-like entity if you can evolve it. Hmm, does that sound familiar to anyone...?

...also sun imagery goes really well with Hajime’s full name meaning “to face a new day”. I just couldn’t pass that by.

All his Pokemon are shiny. Because of course they are.

Ultimate Lucky student = Unfezant. Granbull is a reference to the dog he used to own. Garbodor is because he thinks of himself as trash. Delibird and Clefable both have luck-based moves (Present and Metronome). M-Ampharos is because he wants to help hope shine brightly...and it has fluffy white hair.

Additionally, some of his Pokemon have accuracy problems and so need his luck to help land hits—Delibird has the ability Hustle, Clefable has Sing, M-Ampharos has Zap Cannon, etc.

Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

Real talk, the reason he only has Dittos instead of Mimikyu or Zoroark is because those two pretend with disguises and illusions; Ditto pretends by actually turning into whoever it’s copying.

On a happy note, he can tell his Dittos all apart, always.

His three dragon types are references to his family name (nine-headed dragon). I did consider giving him three Hydreigons to make the pun complete, but it doesn’t really fit him. As for why these specifically, Haxorus is awesome, Dralage’s ambushes and ship attacks have criminal vibes, and Goodra represents his inner soft side. Honchkrow is based off a mafia boss, which I know isn’t yakuza but still carries the same connotations. Krookodile and Mightyena are more underworld type ‘mons.

I find it abhorrent that we have like 800 Pokemon and not a single one is hamster-based. Togedemaru comes closest, having four of them is obviously meant to reflect the Four Dark Devas. Greninja looks like him, just look at the scarf. M-Houndoom is a literal hellhound, nothing fits his ‘ruler of hell’ shtick better.

The three monkeys help him with cooking. Miltank provides milk (and jokes, I’m sure), Tropius fruit, and Lickilicky is because of his perverse nature.

Hitmontop and Emboar are both Fighting types, with Emboar in particular referencing his BURNING SPIRIT. Passimian is based off football, which as a team manager he surely has experience with. He’s got Zebstrika because lightning flies out of his eyes, and Bastiodon because Mechamaru. Skuntank farts when sent out, referencing his toilet humor.

Wimpod is a coward, like him. M-Sharpedo is there because of his shark teeth. Klinklang is literally a bunch of gears and he’s a mechanic. Machoke, Ambipom, and Donphan all help him in the workshop—Machoke isn’t fully evolved because he just wants help with heavy labor, and doesn’t have anything near Sakura’s martial arts training.

She shares Porygon-Z with Chihiro because she’s an AI. Komala is because of her sleepyhead nature. Crobat and Delcatty reference her hoodie and backpack. Sylveon is a major ‘power of friendship/love/hope’ Pokemon. Azumarill references her relation with Usami--though I admit, I went back and forth between it and a shiny (pink) Lopunny for ages. Ultimately, Azumarill’s Fairy type and matching Usami’s round body won out.

I had only three things in mind: fighting types because she loves to battle strong opponents, fire types because she’s a hothead, and Acrobatics because she’s a Gymnast even if she doesn’t care for it. In fact, her entire team except Hitmonlee can learn Acrobatics, and Hitmonlee is apparently partially based off acrobats anyway.

Half her team are dance-based to help with her performances, like Sayaka. The other half references her bullying and general nature. Liepard is called the ‘Cruel’ Pokemon, Toxapex looks cute but is highly poisonous, and Heatmor represents her ant-squishing. Froslass gets special mention for representing both halves--it’s a dancer (and it even wears a kimono!) and is known to be pretty cruel too.

Hoooo boy Mahiru gave me a hard time. We have no photography Pokemon and she doesn’t have any screaming standout quirks. So I went off her desire to make people smile. Sunflora, Ribombee, Jumpluff, and Ludicolo all seem like they’d help in that field. Drampa is pretty gentle with kids, so I think it’d be good for entertaining them and setting up shots. M-Kanghaskan likes taking care of others, referencing how Mahiru is the ‘team mom’.

Like Leon, she has an Exploud for sound amplification; in fact, all her first three are very much noise-based Pokémon, a lot louder than Sayaka’s gentle singers. Shiftry is a reference to her long nose sprite. Magmortar can make a dramatic entrance with smoke and create pyrotechnics, like in DR3. Finally, she has M-Manectric to help with light shows and because she finds it electrifying.

Samurott is a samurai, Farfetch’d uses a sword-like weapon, Seviper uses its tail as a sword, and Aegislash is literally a blade. Skarmory’s feathers were used as swords in the past. Whimsicott satisfies her love for fluffy things, and was a present from Fuyuhiko against his family’s orders (they wanted her team to only reflect her being a ‘tool’).

Blissey and Audino are the two Pokemon that immediately leap to mind when you think ‘healer’. Alomomola and Florges also make good ‘clerics’; Almomola has Healer and learns ‘Wish’, while Florges gets both ‘Wish’ and Aromatherapy. Wishiwashi and M-Banette represent her yandere side; Wishiwashi is a crying, timid thing, but becomes so terrifying in School Mode that Gyarados run from it. Meanwhile, Banette wants to inflict pain on the person who threw it away, and Mikan has lot of pent-up anger towards her bullies.

Persian and Serperior for the same reasons as Byakuya. Her ghost-type represents her liking for the occult. She has a Scizor (not Mega, though) because her admiration for serial killers translates to borrowing the signature ‘mon of the most notable one. Escavalier is her knight. And finally, as the princess of a military nation, I think she’d easily have some powerful dragon-type, and Charizard-X’s aesthetic looks like something she’d like.

AKA ‘stop having fun guys’. Tangrowth matches his hair :P The next four are all hard to raise pseudo-legendaries, befitting his Ultimate Everything. Volcarona is the same one Hajime had, and has multiple meanings for Izuru too: it was also considered a ‘savior’ (aka a hope) in ancient Pokemon times, and while he only kept it because he didn’t care to switch it, he still has it, representing how there’s a little bit of Hajime left in him. Speaking of, Volcarona was mind-wiped too, and the rest of Hajime’s team were disposed of by the Steering Committee :(

Finally, over half his team is capable of Mega Evolution; they just can’t, because that requires a strong bond between trainer and Pokemon, and Izuru lacks that. I also came pretty close to giving him Nihilego (for their shared apathy), but it’s an Ultra Beast, so it doesn’t really count.

originally from unova, jas is one of nate / rosa’s rivals, initially not taking his trainer journey seriously. it’s not until he battles team plasma that he takes his training seriously, and it spurs him to become a gym leader. eventually, he becomes a dual type / variety gym leader. ( teams below ! )

personal team:

luxray, ribung - named after the philippine god of thunder, ribung linti. his first pokemon, given as a gift for his 8th birthday. adamant and proud of its power. knows wild charge, ice fang, facade, and crunch.

umbreon, starla - first caught as an eevee. modest and highly curious. knows dark pulse, psychic, moonlight, and payback.

togekiss, idianale - named after the philippine goddess of labor and good deeds. received as an egg when he started his pokemon journey. modest and often lost in thought. knows aura sphere, tri-attack, air slash, and magical.

slowbro, anitun - named after the philippine goddess of rain and wind. bold and sturdy body. knows scald, psyschock, flamethrower, and calm mind.

gengar, spooks - found in a haunted house when he went exploring on a whim as a haunter. modest and mischievous. knows shadow ball, thunderbolt, sludge bomb, and giga drain.

volcraona, mapulon - named after the philippine god of seasons, and received as a larvesta from his sister. bold and quick tempered. knows fire dance, bug buzz, silver dance, whirlwind.

gym team:

slowbro - same one from his personal team.

gengar - same one from his personal team.

togekiss - same one from his personal team.

houndoom, hades - timid and alert to sounds. knows nasty plot, fire blast, dark pulse, and sunny day.

abomasnow, snowflake - modest and thoroughly cunning. blizzard, giga drain, leech seed, and water pulse.

crustle, the rock - brave and loves to eat. knows x-scissor, shell smash, stealth rocks, and substitute.

Pikachu: favourite pokemon

Gosh darn, I don’t know! I have a bunch of pokemon I really like so I can’t choose… Maybe Zoroark? But I’m not sure.

Eevee: favourite eeveelution

I’m gonna fo with Umbreon because I love its design. It’s really cool. (I also really like Espeon for the same reason)

Chikorita: favourite region

I really loved almost all of them but my favourite is going to be Unova, but the Black 2 / White 2 version of Unova.

Entei: dream team

I try to gather my dream team by the time I get to the League and fight with them and my team usually consists of:

- starter pokemon (type doesn’t matter. this only serious commitment I have in my life is my connection to my starter)- the pseudo-legendary of the game/generation (because they are strong and most of the time, they have cool designs)- a very cool and strong pokemon- a pokemon to balance counter type disadvantages- a pupper pokemon- a random pokemon I encounter and love (depends on the game and if there are gift pokemon, because if there is a gift pokemon, i’m 100% keeping it)

So if I had to choose from all generations up until today, my dream team would be Greninja, Hydreigon, Bisharp, Gliscor, Luxray or Absol, and Lucario, Zoroark or Larvesta.

(I totally didn’t go and dig up my whole computer for these saves, not at all)

(And I’m totally not replaying any of these games, why would you think that? No, that is not the White 2 starting screen, what are you talking about?)

How did everyone meet their pokemon?

Whoo boy, okay, that is an answer that is way too much for a single ask because, well, that’s twenty four individual “how they met” backstories (and even if you remove the ones that are “more-or-less as in canon”, like Diath’s klefki and Gutter and Waffles and Morning Glory and Juniper, it’s still nineteen) so I’ll give an overview of how their teams came together, if that’s okay? If you’re curious about specifics about any of them, I will gladly supply!!

Diath’s team pretty much came about by accident. He never really intended to train pokemon. Most of his pokemon adopted him, not the other way around. The only one he actively sought out was his ninjask (or, well, nincada, at the time). The others all just sort of… happened. His klefki, Cath, and his Aegislash, Gutter, were both gift pokemon, and ended up with him pretty much the same way that his ring of keys and Gutter in canon did. His absol is a result of Barovia and his other three pokemon are all native to the Waterdeep area and were with him prior to his meeting Strix.

Evelyn’s team is about as close to planned as any of the Wafflecrew’s teams are. Morning Glory was her first pokemon and came from Amphail with her and has been alongside her throughout her childhood and training. Her lycanroc, larvesta, and solrock are all pokemon she gained through her assignments and duties with the church, one way or another. Her eevee was a gift from her mother, the last time she saw her. Juniper, as per canon, was a case of rescuing and nursing back to health.

Strix’s team was almost as much a case of accidental acquisitions as Diath’s, except she very much did purposefully adopt each of her pokemon. Stinky, as in canon, has been with her since Sigil. Her garbodor and mismagius (or, well, trubbish and misdreavus) were both gained during her travels through the planes. Her venomoth (caught as a venonat) was an addition during her early days with Diath and her banette is a result of Barovia. Waffles is pretty much as in canon.

Paultin’s team is… a bit of a mystery. There’s a lot of stuff going on with his memories, what with the childhood trauma-induced amnesia and the drinking to forget as an adult. He genuinely doesn’t remember where most of his pokemon came from or how he met them, just that they’ve kinda… always been there. They stick by him. If really pushed for a timeline, he could probably guesstimate that his malamar, marowak and chatot (the former two an inkay and a cubone) have been with him since he was really young, that he picked up his exploud (at the time a whismur) at some point in the intervening years, and that his gengar (a gastly) at some point after what happened to Sandra. His baltoy was a Barovia addition.
