ok I know I'm going to be drowned out as one of many and I don't want to be the guy feeding the public frenzy right now but I want to offer my thoughts on the watchertv situation.
I've been a fan of ryan and shane for almost 6 years. I got into them when I was around 12-13, and now, at 18 years old, they've occupied a fairly significant part of the last third of my life. I feel reasonably confident in saying I've watched everything they've ever made, from buzzfeed and watcher, and when they went out to found watcher, I was abundantly happy to welcome steven into my parasocial love for them. I feel like I've grown up with them, and going off to college next year, it was never a question in my mind that they'd follow with me. I mean, I bought their unsolved book the second it was announced, and I even snagged a ghost files shirt and a professor plush when he was rereleased. I took the professor to the lizzie borden house for my 18th birthday overnight, and wow was that an expense, but I've wanted to go ever since middle school when I stumbled across buzzfeed unsolved for the first time. in short, losing them is like losing a constant presence in my life, a cherished presence, no matter how ridiculously parasocial that makes me sound.
when I heard about watchertv, I was crushed. in the past couple days, I've jumped from betrayal to desperation to grief to bitter anger. but I think I've landed now in a place where those make more sense to me. I agree wholeheartedly with so many commenters on every platform right now. they're just like me, feeling let down and disappointed by the people we've idealized, and gotten used to seeing for free. but I also understand exactly how this idea came about, I know what it's like to feel backed into a corner on something, forced to make a hard choice where it feels like only a radical shift will save you. we as fans were there for the three of them, their dynamic. but their dreams don't match up. they want freedom to make what they want, and they feel passionate about growth to tv quality. that's what they're aspiring to, I do genuinely think that.
I won't sit here and go on about the different takes people have made about steven's masterminding or shane's reluctance. the bitter stuff that's been said feels very harsh. but I can't condemn the people saying things out of anger that aren't targeted. it's ok for them to feel upset. sure, maybe it sucks that it has to come out on a public forum like the internet but it's valid nonetheless. but on their end, that's got to hurt. I hope so dearly that watchertv succeeds, even if it has to change a lot to do that. a subscription service isn't what we want, but it's what they believe will let them make the quality content they want to. that's worth pursuing, and I care about them so much that I want them to go for it.
I hate that I can't follow them into this next chapter. and I'm sure a lot of other people are too, and however they choose to feel that is perfectly ok. but their creative satisfaction and happiness does not depend on me, and it shouldn't be limited by what I can or am willing to do.
anyway my heart goes out to them truly. I'll miss them in college, and probably forever, and hopefully our paths cross again. but even if we don't, I'm happy for the memories I was able to make, I hope every other upset fan feels the same way eventually too :))

Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural rewatch
...and well, I've gotten into historic fashion since the last time I saw the Lizzie Borden episode. This comes a bit too close to speculation on true crime (which I will not do) but I wanted to share some information because of Shane/Ryan discussing Lizzie's blue dress.
PriorAttire (Izabela Pitcher) is a medieval and Victorian costumer. I am not an expert, and I am sick rn, but I promise this will (mostly) make sense. Using a lot of parentheses today, apparently.
Izabela (listen, I am southern and want to say Mrs. Pitcher but I digress) has a video here timing herself getting dressed from a chemise. Buttoning her boots (with button hook), lacing a split busk corset (an invention of the Victorian era), putting on caging (bustle or crinoline), petticoat, corset cover/blouse, skirt, possible overskirt, and top. This all takes Izabela at most around 10 minutes, with no help. Now, everything listed before 'corset cover/blouse' will typically stay the same between outfits- sport corsets were a thing for well, sports, and there were bathing corsets. Still, typically corset covers/blouses served to soften the lines of undergarments just like petticoats and didn't change. (You could wear a top with fanning/voluminous sleeves and then have little sleeves you slipped on at the end and buttoned above the elbow if you didn't wear a blouse.) All you would need to shuck in August, hypothetically, would be a skirt, sleeves, and a top, maybe a petticoat if the skirt was absorptive. (One pieces dresses did exist, but mostly two-pieces were common to increase the utility of clothing items. One of her ballgowns can easily be transformed with a little mix-and-match to a walking gown.)
In Izabela's "60 years of Victorian Fashion" video, there are some one-piece dresses (but they look relatively easyish to get into, especially if buttoned ahead of time). One from 1890 was described as for the house and was one piece, but still, not difficult. (Around the 7:30 mark of the video.)
I don't honestly know if this makes sense. I could make a more thorough rewrite, but maybe this will let you guys make your own conclusions.
(And hey! if you want to know more about historical fashion, CrowsEyeProductions has a cool playlist in chronological order from Roman Britain to the present day of the dressing process.)

My Demon!Shane headcanons because I saw somebody else do it lmao
His height is an illusion. He can make himself look as much as a foot to 3 metres taller than any being, but on camera he will always appear 6'4, and no matter how you measure him, he will alter reality so the ruler reads as 6'4.
His skin turns a sickly grey colour when in his true form.
He's not actually all that powerful, but he has powers that make him appear much scarier and bigger than he is.
He's an average-ranking demon, slightly above Annabelle
His true form's height visually is between 7 and 8 feet tall.
Black eyes fo-sho, they don't reflect light.
His ears stick out flat and pointy like elf ears.
His legs are like the legs of a goat, but slimmer and bonier like a wolf's, and covered in short, matted, black fur.
His forearms and chest have some scruffier black fur as well.
His tail is as long as his body and covered in diamond-shaped black scales with a thin strip of fur down the base, tipped with a sharp spear-tip.
His face has some scattered similar black scales.
His tail is prehensile and strong enough to pick up Ryan effortlessly.
His feet are clawed and animal-like.
His fingertips look burnt or charred and fade into sharp, hooked, black claws made of stiff keratin.
The air around him is cold and smells like matches and copper.
His tongue is blue and pointy, like a lizard's without the forked tip.
His wings are like a bird's, feathery with tawny feathers near where they connect to his shoulders, because for a demon he's basically a baby.
He's almost 200 years old.
He feeds off of Ryan's fear, and he says it tastes like pancakes.
The wings have layers of black, brown, and white feathers, and his wingspan in 20 feet.
He has the horns of a giant sable antelope that curve far behind his head and are a light brown, like the colour of toffee.
He sits like a cat sometimes.
If you took an X-ray of him, you'd see a large, mangled raggedy-ann doll (Annabelle) stuffed into his chest cavity, and there is a long scar down his torso where he dissected himself and shoved the demon into his ribs.
Moths and spiders are very attracted to him.
His voice is distorted in his true form, three different pitches layered on top of eachother.
He protects Ryan, while also screwing with him.
When he came out to Ryan as a demon, Ryan tried to shoot him with holy water. It didn't do anything. Ryan came to accept it, eventually.
Ryan scribbles pentagrams sometimes just for the sake of bothering him, since it usually creates a buzzing in his head.
Shane's main power is necromancy, he can raise the dead and have him do his bidding. He once slow-danced with the reanimated skeleton of Lizzie Borden.
He loves to mess with camera equipment and throw in little supernatural occurrences on film. The worst he's ever scared Ryan is when he came up behind him and opened his mouth, to which hundreds of moths came flying out.
He heals very quickly!
Being in his human form is very tiring, one time he accidentally turned into his true form while sleeping and ripped his sleeping bag. Ryan had to edit that entire video himself just so that none of the crew found out about Shane's secret.
Sara is the only other person who knows about his demonhood.

All BFU Episodes sorted into categories + additional comments by ✨me✨
Disclaimer: I’m a Shaniac, but i still get scared because i don‘t like darkness. I also think the Spirit Box is baloney.
So basically I sorted all Buzzfeed Unsolved episodes (with Ryan and Shane) into categories by how scary/depressing they are. I didn't know where to put some of them, so maybe this won’t make any sense to some of you. It is entirely subjective.
The additional comments are either thoughts I had while watching the episodes or what I actually think about the case btw.
To celebrate the show, Ryan and Shane, i had spaghetti and an apple (i couldn‘t actually make apple taters unfortunately) while watching the series finale.
Well, let’s get this started, shall we?
The creepiest episodes, I only watch these when i have a lot of light around me and it’s daytime
Annelise Michel: Very creepy, very depressing as well since she didn’t get the treatment she needed, the recordings sent a shiver down my spine, maybe i’d be less creeped out if it wasn’t for how she knew details about this valentin fleischmann dude
3 Horrifying Cases of Ghosts and Demons: Winchester House isn’t really scary but i hate dolls so the Island of the Dolls was a big no for me, the Sallie House remains one of the scariest places they’ve visited
Waverly Hills Hospital: The body chute is pretty much the creepiest place they’ve ever visited, also i feel sorry for the homeless man and the dog. The idea of ghost children creeps me out.
Keddie Cabin: Pretty much the creepiest True Crime Case of the Series, there‘s just something about woods, cabins and knives, also it really seems like the whole town was just… in on it? It‘s weird and disturbing (and why the fuck did they demolish the fucking crime scene when the case is still being worked on today i don‘t get it)
Eastern State Penitentiary: In terms of evidence this episode is definitely one of the most compelling ones. I still don‘t believe in ghosts tho.
Hannah Williams: Shane looks so done with everything lmao. This is one of my fav episodes, so many good moments but i always get really creeped out. It’s really admirable how brave Ryan got.
Old City Jail: Hands down, this is one of the best episodes imo but that evidence isn’t compelling at all to me. Ryans manical mental breakdown is the scariest thing about this episode.
Conjuring House: Those fucking dolls i swear to god, one day imma die of a heart attack when watching these. Shane is above the devil confirmed! I absolutely DETEST the placing of the fucking mannequin this season... i did not just witness them pretending to be cats💀 i‘m ngl this episodes i really creepy af- SHANE DRANK THE FUCKING HOLY WATER! ok but honestly even without the « it’s haunted » bs who would willingly live on this farm?
Pythian Castle: I actually think this castle is really nice tbh. APPLE TATER IT SAID APPLE TATER!!! ... i didn‘t hear spaghetti tbh but i love seeing them so excited. oh PLEASE let Shane destroy the spirit box at the end of the series!
Sallie House: „who knows“ Shaneee I'm surprised!😲 Well five minutes in and ryan is already going mad, I wouldn't have expected anything else. The scariest thing about this place is the ugly kitchen interior tbh. That animated bit of the little girl turning into this ugly whatever this is gonna haunt me in my nightmares and the reason why this episode is in this category. I swear Father Thomas looks like one of my old teachers! They ARE the best ghost hunters to ever live! ...imagine walking past the house, not knowing they‘re filming and hearing Ryans laugh...YES SHANE DESTROY THE SPIRIT SHIT BOX! Ryan stop making me cry😭 A DOCUMENTARY AIRS ON NOVEMBER 24TH???
I definitely wouldn’t watch these at night because they’re either scary (but not the scariest) or depress me too much
Queen Mary
Whaley House
Bobby Mackey’s
Lizzie Borden: Yeah i can’t believe people wrote fanfics about them but the conspiracy theory does make sense in a way I guess, also the pics of the corpses are gruesome and not something I ever wished to see.
Dauphine Orleans Hotel: The drawing of the lost bride haunts me in my dreams, otherwise this episode would be in another category.
Voodoo World of New Orleans: fucking DOLLS again
Axeman of New Orleans: Yeah no one wants to get murdered with an axe and the idea of this dude is creepy as hell even if he’s incapable of actually killing all of his victims like how hard can it be to murder someone with an axe when they’re asleep
Murder in Room 1046: Very strange case, creepy to imagine, also the birth episode of Ricky Goldsworth! I think the Mafia did it but yeah, overall just a very creepy case.
Vulture Mine: If it weren‘t for the school building scene then this would be one category below because… glory hole
Goatmans Bridge: Goatman and the bridge don‘t scare me but the idea of cultists in woods does. Definitely one of my fav episodes, if not my favourite, a lot of iconic moments in this one
Pennhurst Asylum: Shane being Shane keeps this episode from joining the scariest category. And no front to Ryan but the audio recorder „evidence“ is the absolute least compelling ghost evidence i‘ve ever heard lmao (this is also the first BFU supernatural episode i‘ve ever watched)
Roanoke Colony: Look it‘s really just the moving mannequin, i could not watch that at night at all, the episode itself isn’t that creepy. Mainly because two of Ryans theories were aliens and zombies.
London Tombs: ...Shane predicted the pandemic💀 I know I said it already but dolls are just creepy as fuck but it‘s funny bc they‘re essentially just yelling at toys. Scary is maybe not the right word to describe this episode but it certainly is disturbing.
Jack the Ripper: I feel like it was either Barnett or an unknown police officer, but to quote Shane: „let it be a mystery“.
Cleveland Torso Murders: Gruesome, but the real mystery here is which beheaded british royal Ryan was referring to (I love history ok) because there are several that would qualify (and no it can‘t be Anne Boleyn, i think he was referring to Mary, Queen of Scots)
Texarkana Phantom Killer: i hate this case, i feel like this dude just got away with it and i hate it
Jamison Family: woods again and I think the reenactment is creepy as hell
Rolling Hills Asylum: I don’t believe in ghosts but i like to think that if they were real, the ghoul boys made Roy really happy by playing opera music
Bellaire House: “Spaghetti” “Apple Tater”
Ohio State Penitentiary: I absolutely love Shane in this episode and i love Ryan forgetting the spirit box and having to go back after insulting the air ghosts on his way out
Moon River Brewing: „His mind is his own worst enemy. And it‘s my greatest Ally.“ <- Demon Shane really came out here. This place is so so not haunted lmao i almost always feel like they‘re talking to air but this time it was just so clear like… but i hate it when they edit the eyes of anything red, it‘s so creepy, especially when you‘re half asleep when watching it (Note after watching the Houdini episode: i wrote that it wasn‘t haunted before Ryan said that it isn‘t so my guts were right haha)
Sorrel-Weed Haunted Mansion: What a shame Ryans camera didn’t actually catch anything but darkness, i love how the suspense music just leads up to absolutely nothing.
Black Dahlia Murder Revisited: This case makes me physically sick, George Hodel is definitely guilty, i fucking hate this dude and the fact that he was able to live his life after all the shit he did
Annabelle the Doll: I fucking hate dolls- Ryan: basically you just have to respect her *cut to shane* i will say, i do not respect you💀 one of my absolute favourite BFU scenes ever
St. Augustine Lighthouse: “not to say he’s like my daddy or something… “ is Ryan aware that some people write fanfics about them lol
USS Yorktown: is Shane having an existential crisis? Also am i the only one who doesn’t see shit? Like where does Ryan see a shadowy figure please I really want to see it
Villisca Ax Murder House: Being murdered like that is like one of my biggest fears ngl. I’m kinda surprised Ryan doesn’t believe in unicorns and Shane reaction to that is exactly the same as mine! Also if Shane actually checks every room before he goes to sleep to make Sara feel safe that’s so adorable!
Loey Lane: I love Loeys collection of Minnie Mouse ears! Shane acting possessed gets me every time... Shane teaching Ryan how to floss💀
Farnsworth House Inn: I am SO here for them insulting confederate ghosts! I can’t with them trying to be babies😂 Well if it wasn’t haunted before… Shane might have made it haunted tbh. Also manic Ryan is back.
Morris-Jumel Mansion: …how is that one of their best pieces of evidence😭 there are literally several possible explanations as to what could have caused the whistling sounds before it‘s a ghost
A bit scary and/or depressing, i wouldn’t watch these at night
OJ Simpson: Just depressing, i personally think OJ did it and got away with it and it’s a prime example of how everything that could’ve gone wrong in the process went wrong, in every aspect.
Illuminati: I  don’t believe in it but the idea is creepy.
Michelle von Emster: That poem is a fucking atrocity and drowning is one of my biggest fears.
Sodder Children: Sad as fuck, the salesman dude was definitely in on it, i hope the family and children found peace.
Salem Witch Trials: The misogyny of this time period makes me furious ngl
Boy in the Box: It’s not really creepy (well the picture of the boy kinda is) but i feel so sorry for the boy.
JonBenét Ramsey: Sad case. It’s sick how many old men were obsessed with her. I think it was the brother btw, he accidentally killed her and the family covered it up. But then again this episode also brought us the “i’ve connected the dots” meme. Oh and it‘s the first BFU episode i‘ve ever watched btw
Colchester Castle
William Desmond Taylor: The reenactment is kinda creepy ngl but  we have the most iconic Ricky Goldsworth appearance in this episode!
Louis Le Prince: Thomas Edinson sucks this guy is guilty as fuck, if not of murder then of being a terrible human being and a thief. Very sad case.
Villa Montezuma Mansion: ...but did he poop himself?
Collar Bomb Bank Robbery: i hate  e v e r y t h i n g  about this case
Bobby Dunbar: I feel bad for Julia Anderson, strange  that they didn‘t compare the DNA to an Anderson DNA sample as well
Winchester Mansion Revisited: I love the flashbacks to the first episode, Shane is such a mood in this episode lol
Mission Solano: The alarm going off will never not be funny💀 i love Shane in this episode so much
Yuma Territorial Prison: Shane really isn‘t having it with the ghosts this season lol also what do you mean you shut the terrified part of your brain off like how😀
Town of Tombstone: „It has been an honor to meet you, sir“ „HORSESHOES“ Shane you are KILLING me💀 can I just say that I think this episode is criminally underrated
The Watcher: Shane and me have a similar way of thinking, two seconds after i thought the whole neighbourhood could be in on it like in Hot Fuzz Shane  mentions it lmao also i wonder what Ryans dad thinks about the running gag of him cutting someones head off and yes Ryan, i‘d be scared too if i saw your face smiling like that in my window
Florida Machete Murder: Being murdered like that is one of my biggest fears, this is the episode Ryan realised that Shane is a demon
Walter Collins: The  movie based on this case is really good, fucked a bit with my mind though (it’s called Changeling!) anyways FUCK JJ Jones and the police and FUCK Gordon Northcott, that guy can rot in hell
Viper Room: That is not how you pronounce Schwarzenegger, Ryan. Am i the only one who wants to go clubbing there? "now i’m in your hole”Ryan honestly💀 Shane is really on a new level of done with ghost hunting in this season lol
Thelma Todd: she sounds so cool i would love to be able to talk to her and i HATE to say it but Lucky Luciano could get it
Who put Bella in the Whych Elm?: Ryans lack of science knowledge is the scariest part about this episode although the story is creepy
Marilyn and Sam Sheppard: good movie.
Flannan Isles Lighthouse Keepers: their scottish accent💀 I just know that Ryan only mentioned the aliens to annoy Shane... isn’t there a Brothers Grimm tale about men turning into birds?
Cynthia Anderson: I just feel so bad for her, i hope she just ran away (like what if she ran away and left that particular page in the book open to suggest otherwise?)
Mary Celeste: I just love the music they used in this episode. Shane is right, why feminize a ship like even in german it‘s neutral and not female (das schiff, das boot…)! Shanes impression of a german pirate💀 „or it‘s a zooboat and the monkeys got out“ literally what?- I just love it when Ryan starts with the aliens and then doesn‘t elaborate. I don‘t like this case it‘s so fucking weird
Princess Diana: I‘m not even into the british royal family but i love Diana, she seemed really nice and i hope she‘s in a better place now. „Princess Dianas future husband“ the shade💀Honestly Charles is just a walking red flag
Not extremely scary but I wouldn't watch these at night
Gloria Ramirez: The only thing that spooked me a little bit is how affected the staff seemed to be.
Mary Reeser: The possibility of dying like that is unsettling.
3 Cases of Ancient Aliens
Bizzarre Road Trip of a Missing Family
Amelia Earhart: “Let me spin you a yarn that you shan‘t soon forget. i‘m being eaten alive by crabs right now.”
Natalie Wood: Drowning is a fear of mine as well. I don’t know what to think of this case, my guts say Wagner is guilty but my head says it was probably just a very unfortunate accident since they were all drunk as fuck. Also Shoutout to Dr. Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran.
Poisoned Pill Murders: new fear unlocked
3 Cases of Alien Abduction
Viaduct Tavern: Shanes laughing fit at the execution breakfast is really relatable, I think it’s great.
Isdal Woman: Yeah my brother almost killed me when i watched this; he opened my closed door very quietly and just stared at me through the small space between door and wall until i noticed. I almost had a heart attack
Mothman: I mean a good chunk of this video is them being tourists and screeching like possessed people, it’s iconic
Phoenix Lights Phenomenon
Jimmy Hoffa: I think Sheeran killed Hoffa… maybe i should finally watch The Irishman but it’s so looooong!
Eight Day Bride: I love Shane saying „heteronormative bullshit“ and him thinking like Christina in the beginning, this is one of my fav episodes
Poisoning of an Ex-Russian Spy: I constantly switched between „what‘s wrong with Shane“ and „Shane is a mood“ during those 21 minutes
Charles C. Morgan: The Hot Daga finally made it into the main show! Also the police is sus af
Reykjavík Confessions: Almost missed this one bc it‘s not in the all episodes playlist smh i should start watching them by seasons, I don’t even know which episode belongs to which season tbh. Anyway, i don‘t like this case one bit.
Australian Shark Arm Murders: Did anyone count the puns? The shark is the real victim here. I love australian Shane ngl
Bugsy Siegel: Love me some unsolved mob cases. Did you know that the character of Moe Greene in “The Godfather” was inspired by Bugsy Siegel?
Vincent Van Gogh: I really just feel bad for him tbh, i adore his art style.
Dorothy Arnold: YOU’RE MY FRIEND but make it threatening. No but Shane wanting to go to Antarctica is actually a mood! THE JOHN GALVIN STORY💀
Edgar Allan Poe: I feel a little bit sorry for him, i’d feel more sorry if he didn’t marry his 13 year old cousin
Lady of the Dunes: WHAT DO U MEAN YOU DON’T LIKE DOGS SHANE and damn yes we on tumblr are supportive as hell of your show
Somerton Man Revisited: Well now, if i ever have children, i’ll make them believe i’m a spy. All jokes aside tho i’d love to see this case get solved but then again which case wouldn't we like to see get solved
Harry Houdini: Damn i would‘ve loved to see him perform live!
George Reeves: Yeah i actually hope Shane and Ryan won’t ever do cameo bc cameo kinda weirds me out tbh (don’t come at me pls) but hey! as long as everyone is happy. Every time Ryan mentions his katana it adds ten years to my life span. This is a strange case and i doubt it was suicide tbh
Monster with 21 Faces: Look i‘m not rooting for then but i love the police bashing
Judge Joseph F. Crater: „I’ve never worn a bow tie, i will never wear a bow tie“ Shane your twitter profile pic used to be you wearing a bow tie
Alfred Loewenstein: wait that Brussel sprout pun was actually funny😭It must‘ve been murder, i‘m 99% sure! Shane why, aliens really 😶
I’d probably be able to watch this late at night (but that doesn’t mean i would try)
DB Cooper: iconic episode, interesting and also kinda funny case we all know Loki is DB Cooper
Bigfoot
Bermuda Triangle: atlantis go brrrrr aReA 51
JFK: I mean, it‘s just really not a creepy episode and we all know governments and such are sus af
Roswell‘s Bizzare UFO Crash
Legend of Krampus: lol yes i included this, i love the references to other cases
Gardner Museum Heist
Killing of Ken Rec McElroy: fuck this guy, this episode is so satisfying
Alcatraz Prison Break: i love this one because the plan is just so good and possibly no one got hurt? idk i like to imagine they made it
Treasure Hunt of Forrest Fenn: I envy Forrest Fenn, i love history and archaeology but tbh I have to agree with Shane, it is stealing (unless it was fairly traded or paid for), love how Shane is ready to fight the lawyer lol he‘s so enthusiastic about all of this, i love the research montage, the way Shane looked at Ryan when he came out in the Indiana Jones outfit, i just love this episode so much
3 Videos from the Pentagon‘s Secret UFO Program: Honestly if more people were like Shane we‘d have a lot less problems in the world. „there are people crazier than me-„ are you sure about that Ryan
Hidden Secrets of Area 51: Ryan really likes touching his nipples apparently. What in the anarchy is Shanes thought process like, i’d love to know- licking the case file😭
Pink Panthers: They kinda remind me of the La Casa de Papel gang tbh
Agatha Christie: well now i wanna reread murder on the orient express
Unsolved Almost 70th Episode Retrospective:
Jack the Ripper is a pretty good episode but i don‘t think i‘d place it in my top five
i love the deleted bits so much
agreed, Waverly is one of the, if not THE creepiest place they‘ve visited
oh yes DB Cooper would definitely be in my top five (now even more after watching Loki)
oh here we go top five evidence…
hmm yeah i liked the dog but i‘ll only believe in ghosts if i see a full body apparition in front of me when i‘m in a normal state of mind
nah the spirit box just doesn‘t do it for me
the footsteps? really?
the ball was coincidence imo but imma give them that: it was creepy
not the flashlights- ryan the diagram doesn‘t help you lmao
i have to be honest: i haven‘t watched the episodes with Brent
Waverly is a great episode, probably also in my top five (at least if it‘s only supernatural)
FATHER THOMASSSSSS! he sounds like a disappointed dad
Goatman episode is definitely in my top five
First episode it’s understandable that this is in the fans favourite, i love it too but i‘m not sure if it would be in my top five, top ten yeah, but top five? idk
it‘s weird seeing this last scene in a pandemic
Well it‘s been a ride. I haven‘t been part of their journey since the beginning unfortunately, but i got into Buzzfeed Unsolved in 2018, so i‘m not a complete newbie either. This show got me through a time when i wasn‘t doing well mentally and i can‘t thank Ryan, Shane and everyone who was involved in the making of Buzzfeed Unsolved enough for this. It’s truly the end of an era. Ryan & Shane, i‘ll see you on Watcher! @wearewatcher
And to answer the question „Are ghosts real?“ …i‘m still gonna have to go with no. But since my opinion on this isn‘t the only one that matters, the question will remain… Unsolved.

Hello friend! So you've convinced me to watch Buzzfeed Unsolved but there is SO MUCH of it. Do you have any recommendations of where to start? I'd like to try out some ghosty ones, but I don't really know which they are. Plus, I'm a totally scaredy cat. Help?!
Oh this is so exciting!!! I'm thrilled to be able to recommend some eps, it's such a fun series and even if you're easily scared, it's pretty lighthearted and goofy, which prevents it from being as scary as it otherwise might. The sheer volume of content is definitely overwhelming but I've consulted with people who know more than me & they've agreed that these are some great places to start: Supernatural - 3 Horrifying Cases of Ghosts and Demons The very first time Ryan and Shane go ghosthunting together and it contains some iconic moments, an absolute must-watch. (warning about spiders in the 2nd case - it doesn't last very long but timestamps for those moments are 24:00 to 24:50, 25:25 to 25:32, and 25:50 to 25:56.) - The Haunted Halls of Waverly Hills Hospital If you're a believer in the paranormal (aka. Boogara), this episode has some intriguing moments that you could consider evidence of something otherworldly - but if you're a skeptic (aka. Shaniac), it's still worth watching for the totally creepy atmosphere of this place. Also, it's fun to see Ryan freaked out! - The Harrowing Hunt For Bigfoot Who doesn't love Bigfoot content? The boys try to track down the mysterious beast, which Shane actually believes in (Ryan is less convinced), so that's a fun twist on the normal skeptic vs. believer dynamic. - The Search for the Mysterious Mothman Another fun search for a famous cryptid, featuring the statue of Mothman where they gave him the juiciest ass. - The Ghosts and Demons of Bobby Mackey's If you've ever wondered where "Hey there demons, it's me, ya boi" comes from, this is the episode - and this is the moment if you just want to watch that. - London's Haunted Viaduct Tavern This one, as well as the two episodes after it, are from their visit to the U.K.! So you might enjoy seeing them be silly about non-American historical stuff. - The Demonic Bellaire House While I'm not sure what's actually up with this house (is it a demon? is it just bullshit?), there's a moment from this episode that is actually what finally convinced me to give Buzzfeed Unsolved a real try after I saw it in a video clip on Twitter. It's the spirit box "evidence" and it's terrific stuff. A GOOD EP. - The Unbelievable Horrors of the Old City Jail This is the most recent episode of Supernatural they've done since the pandemic put season 7 on hold* and it's probably one of my all-time favourites. They're incredibly goofy in it and Ryan genuinely becomes a bit unhinged because of how terrified he is. Also, some intriguing evidence! - The Murders That Haunted The Lizzie Borden House This one is arguably a bit of True Crime mixed in with Supernatural, so that's a plus, but it's also fun to see two grown men chanting a creepy children's rhyme to each other in a dark room. True Crime (I know you specifically said some ghosty ones but these are fun too) - The Strange Disappearance of D.B. Cooper This is a classic ep and is especially fun to rewatch given the recent Loki stuff with him as D.B. Cooper. It's very early in the series' run but they already have some great banter going on. - The Terrifying Axeman of New Orleans Despite some pretty gruesome content, this episode is a lot of fun and includes them wandering around in a remote location, which is always exciting for a True Crime ep! - The Eerie Case Of The Watcher I have to include this because it's the case they named their company after and it's an incredibly silly & fun episode (also no one was physically maimed in this case, so that's nice!). If you like these episodes, there are a ton of others I left off in the interest of keeping this relatively short, so please let me know if you want more recs! There are also various playlists you can use to go through the episodes, depending on whether or not you want to watch more True Crime with the Supernatural, and if you want to watch the Postmortems (where they answer viewers' questions after each episode and discuss other possible theories, and Shane eventually begins something called the Hot Daga which you may love or truly hate, depending on your tolerance for silliness and cartoon food stuffs).
*season 7 will be the last season of Unsolved Supernatural and Ryan has recently teased that he's really excited about some of the locations they'll be visiting, so of course I'm hyped - they're going to film this sometime over the next few months and it'll come out in the fall

“That’s us then? The couple stupid enough?”
“Apparently,” Ryan said to the camera. TJ, one hand on the side of the lens, smirked, and Ryan quickly continued with, “now, we may not have any actual couples on Unsolved, but we figured the ghosts won’t be able to tell the difference if there are two people sleeping here.”
“Yeah, if ghosts want to kill someone, they’re probably not looking at the fine print to decide what kind of couple their victims are,” Shane said. “Because we are, obviously, a couple.”
“Wh—
”“A couple of ghosthunters.”
He winked dramatically at the left-most camera, and Ryan shook his head.
“You realize you just admitted to being a ghosthunter, right?”

So Ryan tells himself he’s going to ride out whatever it is they’ve fallen into, but he’ll bow out gracefully when the time comes. He can just enjoy the now.

night so long - uneventfulhouses | T, 2.3k, complete Shane’s breath catches, and as much as he wants to, he doesn’t turn to look at Ryan. He could. He could, but he doesn’t.
He knows the answer to that question; he doesn’t have to think about it. It’s written in everything they do together, they way they look at each other, how easily life has been laid out between them, in front of them. This kind of feeling supersedes and overwrites the way he usually feels about people. Because Ryan isn’t other people; of course Ryan would invent a new way for Shane to feel about him, explicitly exclusive, one Shane doesn’t really understand, but wholly and completely recognizes. It’s something he’s spent sleepless nights pouring over, trying to figure out what movements and words mean, why they translated so easily into I belong here in this space with you.
or; it's just two boys in a motel room with a secret.
In These Frozen and Silent Nights -  beethechange | E, 25k, complete “You know me,” Shane says, “I love a good cabin. I’m a cabinhead.”
“I’ll show you cabin head,” Ryan rebuts without thinking, and then he turns his face into the pillow to stifle a nervous snicker. “Oh shit, wait, that’s—”
Planning a shoot at a remote cabin in Vermont the week before Christmas wasn't Ryan’s best-ever idea. Taking a leisurely walk in a blizzard wasn't Shane’s. Scrap the ep, there’s a new plan: survive the storm, stay warm, try not to kill each other, and figure some shit out along the way.

hmm ok I have some recs for you. Idk if some of these are "less well known" but I don't see people talk about these that much
if I recall correct, you like dragons. so you should try reading Eragon (Inheritance Cycle series) by Christopher Paolini. it is a four book series, quite long, but hey it has dragons. the fandom, as far as I know, is rather dead and people don't talk abt these books alot because they were released in the beginning of 2000's
these two series are well known: The Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard and Shadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo. I will warn you though, Red Queen can be hard to get through. It is boring at times but the third book is amazing. if you don't care to read until the third book, don't read the series, it will most likely not be worth it. I only reccomend Shadow and Bone because it is a short trilogy and there are two separate series that follow the original trilogy. If you manage to get through Shadow and Bone, you should definitely read the Six of Crows duology and King of Scars duology. They are way better than the main series, Shadow and bone.
I would consider this next book a less known one: Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca. It is a quick read but I have to say that you shouldn't read it if you struggle to handle gore.
if you want something easy or quick to read here are some recs: She Drives Me Crazy (lgbt) by Kelly Quindlen, The Taking of Jake Livingston (lgbt, horror) by Ryan Douglas, The Midnight Library (contemporary) by Matt Haig and It Will End Like This (horror, retelling of the Lizzie Borden case) by Kyra Leigh and Honey Girl (lgbt) by Morgan Rogers.
most of these recs are well known, but mainly on booktok/booktube. might be a little boring list now that I think about it, but if I remember some other good books I will tell you right away
sorry for the long ask :)
Don't apologize anon, I love long asks and all of these sound really good!
I also didn't know Six of Crows was a follow up to Shadow and Bone? But this list is great honestly thank you a lot!

Latest story from https://movietvtechgeeks.com/chloe-sevigny-talks-lizzie-borden-kristen-stewart-sticking-passion-projects/
Chloe Sevigny talks 'Lizzie' Borden, Kristen Stewart and sticking with passion projects
Even if you don't know Chloe Sevigny from Larry Clark (Kids) and Harmony Korine's (Gummo) indie films of the 1990's, you more than likely have seen her on television in shows like Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story: Asylum or HBO's Big Love
Most film greeks were introduced to the versatile actress in her stunning (and shocking) debut as an HIV-infected teen in Larry Clark’s button-pushing drama Kids in 1995. Sevigny has portrayed nearly every type of character imaginable. The versatile actress/fashion icon has depicted the Midwestern girlfriend of a trans man in 1999’s Boys Don’t Cry, the dowdiest sister-wife of a polygamist on HBO’s series Big Love, a scheming Jane Austen social climber in 2016’s Love & Friendship, and even a legless nymphomaniac in FX’s American Horror Story.
Now she’s found a starring role to really sink her teeth, actually an ax into. In the heroine slaying the patriarchy film Lizzie (premiering in the U.S. Drama Competition), Sevigny takes on ax-wielding anti-heroine Lizzie Borden. Known to most as the parent-chopping up young woman from the famous rhyme, Borden allegedly murdered her father and step-mother at their home in Bedford Falls, Massachusetts in 1892, resulting in what was described as the “trial of the century” and eventually her acquittal.
Proving that passion projects are called 'passion' for a reason, this a role and film that Sevigny has shepherded to the screen after a decade in development. The payoff is huge as she delivers one of her most gripping performances that will likely have audiences on the edge of their seats.
Critics are already giving the film kudos, and it was our 'must see' choice at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Here's what Sevigny had to say about making the film, Kristen Stewart and the ten-year road for Lizzie.   You’ve been attached to play Lizzie Borden for a decade as the project underwent various incarnations. Can you talk about the long journey to make this story into a feature film? Oh God, it’s so long and involved. [Laughs] It began the first time I visited the bed and breakfast in Fall River [the house where the murders took place is now a bed-and-breakfast/museum]. I was driving through Massachusetts with my boyfriend at the time, we were going to stay at the house and then go to Salem, for a spooky Halloween/romantic weekend getaway. As soon as I walked into that house, it was a moment that crystallized, and I knew I had to play this person. I felt so empathetic to her plight. Her story is so fascinating, because there are so many different theories and it’s still unsolved. The world has been fascinated by her for more than a hundred years now. She still inspires so many books, films, operas, and so many other things. She’s iconic as this misfit heroine. That was the moment that I realized I needed to do this. This is obviously a passion project. How did you begin the process of turning it into a movie? I was living with my friend Bryce Kass in Los Angeles as roommates. He was a struggling writer so I asked him to write it. He wrote an outline, and there was so much exposition, and we learned so many things––such as the police were at a picnic so many miles away. There were so many amazing details we could put in this story that it was hard to figure out how we wanted to do it. I was on Big Love at the time and very close to Peter Friedlander [a producer on the HBO series], so I took it to him, and he said we should pitch it to HBO. At that time—this was 10 years ago—they’d have given us more money and exposure and more people would see it on HBO than if it we made it as an indie film. That made more sense to me, you know? We pitched it, and it was there for a while. They held onto the material for a very long time. Bryce had to rewrite it as a miniseries. It was at various times a two-part miniseries and a three-part miniseries. Then they put us on the backburner over there and then picked us up again and had so many directors attached. In the end it just didn’t work out for us. We couldn’t pitch it to other networks for a variety of reasons that I had no idea about because I was so green to this whole process. The next time I’m going to have a lawyer that holds my hand through every step because it’s totally insane. But your endurance eventually paid off. Eventually, we had to reconceive it back to a feature and try to produce it independently ourselves. We set up a lot of meetings and sent it out to a lot of directors. I was attached and Kristen [Stewart] was kind of attached, so it’s hard to go to visionary directors who are working on their own projects when you already have actors attached. We watched Craig Macneill’s films and had conversations with him. He was actually from a place very near Fall River and had a very personal connection to Lizzie, so we decided to go with him. We found some independent financiers and set up some foreign sales and put it together. It came together really quickly. You were born in Massachusetts, which is Lizzie Borden country. When did you first become aware of her? I first became aware of her with the rhyme in probably junior high, or maybe I was younger. I didn’t know much about her. I was out one night for Halloween in the city, and one of my best friends was dressed as her for Halloween, so I delved into it. What was the appeal of her story for you? First of all, she was so misunderstood and didn’t have any real outlet. I was very empathetic to that. I wouldn’t say she’s crazy in any way, shape, or form. I just think she was disturbed. Playing a subtly disturbed person was something I’d never done before, and that interested me as an actor. What research did you do? I stayed at the house in Fall River several times. I went once on my own, once with Bryce, and once with the friend who had dressed up as Lizzie for Halloween. [Laughs] We went to her final resting place in Fall River and walked around Bedford. I went back with Craig and our cinematographer and art director to do more research at the Fall River Historical Society. It was very helpful in creating a fully realized version of her. We saw her objects, and they gave us permission to use a photo of her mother in the locket. I’ve read almost every book about her, and there are a lot. I actually read about different women at that time—even Emily Dickinson. There’s a great bio about her life and being imprisoned in her house, which gave me insight into what life was like in that period. My research was pretty extensive. You really exhibited palpable rage when you were swinging the ax. How do you prepare psychologically to play a scene like that? I’d prepared for that for 10 years now. I was naked in that scene, and now I’m sleepless every night. [Laughs] I’m 43 years old, and I can’t believe I did that. It’s not that I regret it because I wanted it to be very carnal and shocking, but now I feel pretty vulnerable, in all honesty. It’s my opinion and the writers’ that she did it and there are a lot of people who argue that she didn’t. There’s a theory that she went into an epileptic state of shock. Lizzie has a romantic relationship with Bridget, the live-in maid, played by Kristen Stewart. How fact-based is this? That’s not very fact-based. There are a lot of accounts of her having affairs with other women, especially Nance O’Neill, who was an actress. There are theories that that’s why she and Emma, her sister, didn’t speak to each other for the last years of their lives. We took liberty with that. There is evidence that Bridget was in cahoots and had to have been in the house [when the murders occurred]. Maybe those ladies did have one of the friendships that some women during that time period had, that were more intimate because they didn’t have anyone else. I think that after spending time in the house, we determined there was no way Bridget couldn’t have been in cahoots. It’s a film that’s time has come in more than one way. Both Lizzie and Bridget were abused by a man in the film. How do you think the film will resonate in today’s climate when the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements are calling out unacceptable behavior by men? Since all of this has happened recently, well, I mean I’ve always thought of this film as a smack in the face of the patriarchy. It’s extreme, and it’s violent and it smashes the face of the patriarchy. That was how I pitched it 10 years ago. Putting more women in power is the only way to protect young girls. I think men will always abuse them and the more they’re called out and held accountable the less likely they’ll be to act untowardly to women––so women need to be in more positions of power. That’s the only way to shift the dynamics. There’s more of a weight and importance to films now. Even like Beatriz at Dinner [her film which premiered at Sundance in 2017], which is about so many different things now. I’m really lucky to be a part of films that reflect what’s happening in today’s society. There’s been a call for Hollywood to hire more female directors. You’ve directed a couple of shorts. Do you plan to direct a feature eventually? I hope to. I’m making another short in April, which is about women and their relationship to the power. I’d like to direct a feature if I find the right material. It’s all about having the right material and being impassioned about what you want to say and what you want to do. I’ve worked with strong female directors like Kimberly Peirce on Boys Don’t Cry and Mary Harron on American Psycho. Whenever you have a project that you’ve just got to get out, it always elevates it. It enters into the zeitgeist and becomes something even bigger.

People on Twitter are sharing the grievances they have with their names
Tumblr media
Ah, names. The definitive burdens we all must carry.
Most people can relate to having a name that sparks certain reactions from others, whether it be a movie reference or a bad joke. Growing up a "Harry" alongside the advent of Harry Potter, I understand this conundrum all too well. It's never been a hinderance, per se, but sharing a name with the most famous wizard to never live can be irksome at times.
Since names are assigned to us, we don't usually have a say in the title we get stuck with. They're also not always very unique. It's safe to assume that most names are shared by many, many people, characters, things, and places. Sometimes that commonality can lead to confusion and/or humor. But mostly, it just conjures pure and utter annoyance.
Here, Twitter users share common (and unfortunate) responses to telling people their names.
Imagine being half a century old and having people compare you to a Nickelodeon cartoon.
“What’s your name?” me: Dora “Like Dora the Explorer?” me: Yes, I’m 54 years old, exactly like Dora the Explorer. 🙄

There were of course Rocky references with this one.

It must be nice having a page in every single calendar, though.

"What's your name?" "Tamaro." "Like the next day?" "Similar, yes" "Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow, you're only a day away!!!" Oh, and don't let someone find out that I have an identical twin. "Is her name Yesterday?" "No." "Today?" 🙄🤦🏾‍♀️

And let's not ignore this anecdote from "Sara," who's mom, "Fawn," decided to save her from a life of sad Disney movie references.
My mom's name is Fawn. Whenever people ask her to clarify her name she shouts, "LIKE BAMBI!" Needless to say, she named me Sara for a reason.

Buzzfeed Unsolved Emoji Asks!
🔎 Do you prefer the Supernatural or True Crime episodes? Why? I’m more of a Supernatural girl. I like it when they go on location! 🍿 Is there a routine you have for watching new episodes? (A snack or drink you have, etc.) It’s 5PM for me when the episode comes out so I curl up in bed and watch it. Applesauce is my go to snack lol. 😂 Have Shane and Ryan influenced your sense of humour since watching Unsolved? Not really, no. 🤝 Have you introduced any friends/family to the show? What did they think? Yes! They thought it was alright. 🔦 Which is your favourite episode from Unsolved Supernatural? I really like Viaduct Tavern, the 3 case episode, Bigfoot, Goatmans Bridge, Lizzie Borden, Dauphine Orleans, Pennthurst, and a lot more. 📁 Which is your favourite episode from Unsolved True Crime? Ummmm....suddenly every True Crime episode has left me. I like the Keddie Cabin murders, Amelia Earhart, Axeman (jazz it), Roanoke, and D.B Copper. 👀 What made you start watching the show? My friend introduced it to me when it first started and I’ve watched ever since. 👌 What made you continue watching the show? I love my Ghoul Boys™️. 😈 Tell me a Shane quote you like. Oh wow there’s so many. Um... “Viaduct Tavern gaol (how he pronounces it) rules.” It kills me everytime. 😇 Tell me a Ryan quote you like. Huh. I can’t think of one specific one at the moment. I’ll come back and edit it. ✈️ Name a place you’d like them to investigate for Unsolved Supernatural. They’ve already done it, but I’d really just like them to go back to the Sallie House with the spirit box. Although I doubt Ryan’d agree lol. 📹 Name a case you’d like them to cover for Unsolved True Crime. I don’t know tbh. 👻 Do you believe more or less in the supernatural since watching the show? Why? I’ve always believed in demons but never ghosts. Still don’t believe in ghosts. I’m half Shaniac, half Boogara. 🔪 Has the show increased/decreased your interest in true crime? Why? Increased, I’ve always been interested in stuff like that but it’s uped it a bit. 🎭 What’s a funny moment that sticks in your mind? When Ryan and Shane sit in the tub at the Dauphine Orleans. 😱 Are you more or less scared than Ryan during the Supernatural episodes? Depends. 💡 What’s your favourite plausible theory from the show? Every theory is blending together rn. 🤡 What’s your favourite ridiculous theory from the show? That stupid theory of the people of Roanoke disappearing for some zombie apocalypse OR the thing about Atlantis lmao 📋 Is there anything you’d change about the show? (Format, music, graphics, set, etc.) I’d really like it if they didn’t show what they thought the EVP or spirt box said. I want to see what I think it’s saying. Who knows, we could all hear something different. I took this from @ryanbaergara (idk how to do tags on tumblr I’m new help)
