Has anyone else noticed that Ozpin has only been able to take control of Oscars body ever since he got his cane back from Qrow?
Tumblr media
What if Ozpins cane is what allows him (Oz) to take control over the host body of whoever he’s leaching off of?

Have Some Crack-ish Thoughts
So, quick thought I had at 1 AM last night -
People have been speculating on what the relationship between Ozpin and Salem was, and I’ve seen siblings, lovers, friends, and mentor/apprentice. The idea that occured to me as I was trying to sleep, though, was “What if Salem is the original Oz’s daughter?”
Now, I literally only have two reasons to think this, and one of them isn’t really a reason at all, so I am most likely completely wrong.
The first (non)reason is the way Jinn talks in the preview for Chapter 3 - she calls the father “cruel”. Now, Jinn is supposed to be the Relic of Knowledge - as such, you would expect her to be as objective as possible. Either the father is so cruel that it can be objectively stated that he is cruel, or Jinn is adding her own spin on the events. Jinn is based on djinn (or genies), which have a nasty reputation of being extremely mischievous, to the point of twisting their answers and actions solely to cause trouble (Basically, I’m not taking her answers without more than a grain of salt). From the short exchange she had with Ozpin, she clearly knows who he is, and I would bet she’s not above stirring the pot for him. This is just speculation, though, and is quite probably not true. Just my 1 AM thoughts for you.
The other, more realistic reason, is that I have in fact seen Wicked, and know that it’s revealed that Elphaba is the illegitimate daughter of the Wizard of Oz.
Now, does this mean anything? No, probably not, but it’s an interesting idea to toy with, and it would fit with the family themes that RWBY has had going on. The reactions of the group would be fascinating to watch, as well. I could especially see such a thing affecting Weiss greatly, since she just got through breaking out of her own house and the control of her father.
But, that’s for another time. Enjoy my rampant speculation, and have a nice day!

Dark but...
Anyone else want Ozpin to go on a rant about how obviously the guilt of his actions hurts him, how many of his lives were ended by his own hands because he couldn’t handle the guilt, how he can’t even face the ultimate punishment for his actions. How it tears him apart every day. How he would gladly die over and over if it meant nobody else got hurt but his curse won’t even allow him that escape

So the maidens
Here’s my thought:
Ozma and Salem’s daughters are the first maidens. They were born with the ability to do feats of magic. But the thing is, Ozma is forever reincarnating and Salem is immortal. What if their daughters somehow inherited those traits? That’s why the maidens have to be young girls. But they don’t reincarnate like Ozma does. Their powers simply change hosts
Bonus points if Ozma didn’t know the maidens were a thing until many life cycles later. Can you imagine a him hearing about women who can perform magic and making the connection to his daughters?
If this is the true story of the maidens, I am 100% on board with it

‘Ice 9′
"This experiment is shaping up to be incredible! We should soon be experiencing a positively breathtaking... experience!" The Doc rambled on and on, speaking faster than anyone in his vicinity could listen. He was conducting a bit of a repeat experiment.
A few weeks ago, members of Teams RWBY and CRRM had constructed a Dust-propelled ride out of a chair and some Dust vials and had spent part of an afternoon convincing fellow students to ride in it.
Maize Demetra of CRRM had somehow talked her gargantuan teammate, Rhett Aquilon, to take a ride in the speedy contraption, leading only to misfortune for the polar bear Faunus. The restraints must have snapped off or something because instantly Rhett was launched into the air at excessive speeds.
The frozen bear bullet careened down a long corridor, students dodging him the best they could as he screamed. Velvet Scarlatina had snapped a photograph of Rhett in this state in hopes of using the ability in combat. Weiss Schnee had used her glyphs to avoid the freezing mass of bear man. Pyrrha had done an impressive shield roll off Rhett's back or shoulders, while Jaune Arc and been knocked thirty feet down the corridor.
Eventually, the massive young man shot out the side of the building. He finally collided with the gigantic statue in the courtyard, but not before passing Professors Opzin and Goodwitch. He was mere inches from Glynda's face as he shot by, leaving her to wonder what the Dust that thing had been.
When she went to investigate, she found Yang and Ruby, along with Maize and her teammate Rusty Holt, the four of them laughing their heads away.
"What is that contraption?" She demanded, whipping her crop in the machine's direction.
"We were doing a science experiment..." Yang mentioned.
"Okay, so what did you launch out of that thing that just nearly crashed into myself and Professor Ozpin??" Goodwitch continued. The four of them looked around at each other. Where was Crystal Brooke when they needed her? She always crafted the best stories to get them out of trouble, or could at least talk them toward a lighter sentence.
"A student, Professor..." Rusty grumbled. Glynda's eyes nearly came out of their sockets at that admission.
"WHO? WAS? IT??" She shrieked. The four perpetrators looked at one another again, knowing full well they'd been defeated.
"It was my partner, ma'am. Rhett Aquilon," Tiny Maize finally confessed.
"Well, that would explain the cold. But, that boy is enormous! How did you launch him so far?"
"We're really not sure. We might have used a lot more Dust than we thought..." Ruby suggested sheepishly. Suddenly, an imposing figure stumbled into the discussion. Rhett was alive and well, as he'd worn a helmet for this ridiculous endeavor, and his Aura was still intact. It had fallen red, but it had yet to run out. He must have conjured some ice around him shortly before the impact.
Glynda confiscated the teams' little science project and let the kids off with detentions. Rhett would give one of them a smashing if they really needed it, Glynda was certain.
Dr. Oobleck got wind of the whole situation, and he himself wondered how they launched such a monolithic man so far and so fast. Rhett had sailed through the air at Mach 2, at least. There were Dust rounds that could not travel that fast. So, the Doc decided he would try and recreate the scenario in a controlled environment.
Once he'd constructed the device and rigged the necessary Dust, he had needed a Rhett-sized dummy. At 7'2" and at least 400 pounds, such a dummy would be hard to come by, and the Oobleck certainly didn't want to put the boy through all that again.
Professor Port had happened to be on the scene when Oob had finished preparing, and he figured it would be a load of fun to be the crash test dummy. So Port loaded himself into the machine, and Oobleck launched him.
The mustached huntsmen fell a few feet and plummeted to the floor.
"Well, that isn't right at all, is it?" Dr. Oobleck observed. He slid over to his notes and began making different adjustments to the variables. The Dust concentration, the power of the initial blast, the traction of the floor against the wheels of the platform, everything had to be just perfect for that to go down properly.
"That was terrible, Doctor! I thought I'd be in for more of a ride!" Port complained, shaking off his disappointment quickly. "How long before we can go again?" He asked eagerly.
"Give me an hour or so to adjust a few... adjustments. We should be ready again by the end of today's classes."
"Sounds good. See you soon, Barty." Port told him as he made his leave, his mustache wiggling at each syllable.
"Certainly, Peter, and I do appreciate the assistance!" He waved his colleague off before taking a sip from his coffee thermos. "Criminy, that's gone warm!" He complained, pushing a button on his thermos. The fire inside it flared for a moment, heating the coffee to Oob's perfect temperature: scalding hot, face burning lava. Mmm, toasty.
The first few runs were not terribly successful, but the two kept at it over a few weeks. Having something to do with their free time was lovely, especially something ridiculous and hilarious. Eventually, Port was launched across the whole grounds of the school, much to his delight as well and Oobleck's. "Ahh, I love it when a plan comes together..." He sighed as he watched Peter Port soar through the air, sipping his coffee as Port cheered loudly.

Day Ten: A Professor or Headmaster
Team CRRM are characters belonging to two wonderful fan-content creators. Crystal Brooke, Rusty Holt, and Maize Demetra belongs to @kimiheartblade, and big broski Rhett Aquilon belongs to @shadowsoldier-rwby. The former presented this story idea to me after I’d written a short sequel to a story she’d written about their OCs, in case i needed writing inspiration. I did, as I always do, but I never got around to writing anything until now.
I figured recounting the event of Crystal’s headcanon and presenting the Doc’s experiment would be the best way to render it. Anyway, I hope she and Aiden enjoy it! It was fun as hell to write.

Hello friend! I'm your person for the rwby exchange hosted by Zac.
Just wanted to say hi!
Also I wanna hear about your Ozpin Grim AU even if I don't use it. It sounds cool!
Hi there! It's good to hear from you :>
And boy you're asking me something here- I actually have *checks notes* 5 grimm oz au's. But for now I'll tell you the general gist of my main one, of which I also put down a prompt or two:
And tbh, there isn't all that much to it. Most things play out like they do in canon.
Oz is still headmaster of Beacon, and a powerful ally to humanity. Although he has had his moments in time where he was not.*
Salem and his curse are switched. Which means that Oz is immortal, and Salem reincarnates (she eventually reincarnates in Cinder).
Oz sought out the same possible solution of ending his curse that Salem did, resulting in him being Grimm.
“But why is it Ozpin and not Ozma” you ask? Well, I like Ozpin more, so there you have it lol-
Salem and Oz’s motives remain the same. Oz needs to reunite the world while Salem only seeks to end it.
Like I said earlier, instead of Oz, Salem reincarnates. She, unlike Oz creating the maidens, creates the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Who these Four Horsemen are at this point though, I haven't decided yet.
* Oz, in his long time on remnant, has tried many different methods to achieve his goal. Some of which more violent and/or extreme than the other, definitely deserving of the title of "villain". During his time on remnant, he has been the best and worst version of himself. Just as he's seen the world and humanity at its highest and lowest point. It would only make sense for his actions to reflect the current state of the world.
Oz took part in creating the huntsmen schools. He feels as though Beacon represents the best part of himself, and he would do everything in his power to preserve it.
As for clothing, he seems to be really fond of victorian gothic looks.
If you're interested, here's a link to his main design
And here's a link to a pinterest board of outfit inspiration, which is a general one for all of my Grimm Oz au's combined.
- Also, regarding my prompts for this exchange, feel free to switch around certain characters or ships for prompts! I think I forgot to mention that in my submitted form haha

Honestly I would really love for there to be a way to separate Ozpin and Oscar. Oscar doesn’t reserve the backlash that Ozpin is getting. I just keep wondering how this whole situation will iron out. There is going to be a time like in the opening with Jaune where someone will be so mad at Oz they just want to throw him against a wall but they can’t because that’s Oscar too.
Honestly, they made it clear in Volume 4 that Oscar is choosing to fight along with RWBY and JN_R. “She made a choice. A choice to put others before herself. So do I” so we know if Oscar was separated from Oz he would still help with the relics and such. He just wouldn’t have to stand in for Ozpin.
Don’t get me wrong, I really do like Ozpin as a morally grey character. He’s been super shady and everyone wants answers. I just hate that Oscar is getting mixed up in all of it

There are some details about chapter 2 that I just love
1. Blake is still unsure about Qrow and Ozpin/Oscar. She may have met Qrow in Volume 3 but she has no idea where he stands. She doesn’t know if he sided with Ozpin or not.
She watched how Yang and Weiss reacted to Ozpin hiding yet another thing from them in chapter 1. And in this chapter, when RWBY is on high alert, she doesn’t pull out her weapon but she’s ready to
Tumblr media
2. I love how this one line is setting up for why Ozpin is the way he is.
“Does one misstep really negate all his good? Do we not all have regrets?”
Tumblr media
He made a mistake and he doesn’t want anyone to turn their back on him because of it.
3. The little details matter a lot. Miles and Kerry have been doing a good job of show don’t tell this season. When Jinn says she’s still able to answer two questions this cycle, the look on Ozpin’s face. He knows at that moment that they just lost their all faith in him. He lied to their faces. And now they know it. I understand his reason for doing it, it’s much less complicated than a whole group of people trying to decide on what to ask. Plus the question Ruby asks is exactly the reason he kept those two questions a secret. But he must have known the truth would come out eventually.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Lastly Jinn’s line “It’s good to see you again, old man.” is a direct way of telling us that Ozpin has seen her before. And if he met her, you know he asked the first question. I just hope we get to find out what question he asked her later this volume
Bonus:
I’m willing to bet that in this scene Ozpin has sort of retreated from answering any questions which would explain why Oscar is so far behind in this shot. And I’m willing to bet they are talking about what Jinn told them in this scene.
