Steer clear of that genteel maiden.
I've seen it before,
How she charms the boys with her laughter-filled voice,
How she mesmerizes the lads with her alluring smile,
How she captivates the men with her aloof and downward gaze.
Indeed what an enchantress that woman is.
For that is as far as any of them chaps will ever go.
Oh, how I've seen it before.
For the moment the poor wee lads fall for it,
She gracefully declines any advances in winning her favors,
Courteous yet direct in saying, again and again,
That there was never an interest in the first place,
And that perhaps the signs were misread,
And everything is all but a big misunderstanding.
Indeed what an ice princess with such frank demeanor.
Whether she be an artist who lavishes in the spotlight,
Or a naive child who likes to play friends,
We will never know.
For she is a queen that hath no need of kings in her life.
