Shell Shocked is soooo good at playing parallels and callbacks to earlier seasons of Dragons. Not only takes all elements of rtte up to this point and gives them an utility, but it also takes back stuff from RoB and DoB.
I'm not talking only about that "trapper's trap can trap the trapper" line, I'm talking about parallels to both We Are Family (RoB) and Cast Out (DoB).
First, Viggo asking Hiccup to allow him to help is basically Mildew asking Hiccup to trust him. In both cases he accepts and is kind of sassy about it, in both cases it backfires as he's betrayed from both antagonists.
(Also, speaking of RoB, Astrid being held hostage is vey similar to Heather's Report Part II, where Hiccup is willing to shoot Alvin if that means saving Astrid. Great character development from there).
And, secondly, Snotlout letting Viggo out = Snotlout letting Alvin out. Both characters decided to help in the battles against another great danger and the riders hat to trust them. Snotlout being the one to let him out and not literally any other character is so cute. Even the line "of course he let you out" feels like a callback.
Idk, this is the first time I watch all the series in chronological order so I guess that's why this came just now. Anyways, going straight into season 5, I don't remember a shit about it wish me luck <333

I persuaded my history teacher(same one who was playing Hamilton in class week before last) to put on Race to the Edge in class since we didn't have anything better to do and it was that or watch Monsters Inc. again(he was desperate, and this is high school)
We watched the first three episodes of season 1, and let me tell you, it was funny when my classmates of the block jumped in surprise at every cuss word, but it was even funnier to watch their reactions to
Dagur's jailbreak (three students excluding me were actually watching, one actually said "Damn, bros angry as hell!")
Meatlug getting called girl by Fishlegs(like seriously, i understand most of them never watched it but like someone actually saying "That thing is a girl?!" was kinda just fucking facepalm material)
Eels (about a third of the class was glancing up every now and then, looking surprised at the giant eels)
Dagur calling himself "Daddy"(it was funny as hell, half the class looked up like "ayo wtf?", I probably didn't help at all when someone piped up "Wait is this How to Train Your Dragon??? What is this???" and I was like "This is the show they made of Httyd" and someone had the audacity to say "But I thought this was a kid's show???")
The entirety of Gothi's screentime (there were kids cheering for her when she started beating the shit out of the snow wraith)
The entire Deathsong and Thunderdrum ordeals(People really laughed when the gang was having a hard time hearing Hiccup so he had to yell, and ofc there were some who were startled to see the Deathsong being readily implied to be about to eat the Dragon Riders and their dragons [again, not all of them watched HTTYD and those who were only vaguely familiar were Like "I thought this was a kids show!!"])
Had to share, because yeah, I think I may have actually interested like half a class with a "kid's" show

Something I am reeling about today.
Race to the Edge was originally supposed to have 4 seasons. Not 6. But what one can presume is that it garnered enough popularity that the extra two seasons were added. Hence why we got a Dragon Eye 2, Krogan was given more screentime, the King of Dragons came into play, Mala and Dagur became a thing, but what was outlined more to me, that Viggo was brought back.
With the show originally intended to be four seasons, Viggo was meant to be the main villain of the series. Dagur being a threat in Season 1, then 2 leading into the Dragon Hunters, then 3 and 4 centering around Viggo and Ryker.
Then I think about, what the end of RTTE was supposed to be. Shellshocked Pt. 2. In the final minutes of the finale. Viggo threatening Astrid, and Hiccup throwing the Dragon Eye into the volcano. Viggo chasing after it, and the rock crumbling beneath him, last words crying out, “HICCUP!”
And frankly wanting to admit, that is really the only way it could have ended. Viggo needing to be eliminated because he would never surrender, and the Dragon Eye destroyed because it was too dangerous in any hands.
I don’t think that at the point they stood at it would make sense for him to have been redeemed as he was in Triple Cross.
But I reflect upon what the ending was meant to be. Viggo meeting his end in that way. Imagine if we hadn’t been given two more seasons. That would’ve been an extremely grim ending. Like imagine going from that to HTTYD 2. And here’s me wondering, if Hiccup’s reaction after Viggo fell into the volcano was always planned, wasn’t altered even after they got the green light for two more seasons.
How he reacted, he looked remorseful, the way he worriedly stared into the lava. The saddened tone of “Viggo. It didn’t have to end this way.” And I will be honest, even if it was brief, Viggo was the only villain which Hiccup actually looked shocked was gone. He did that for no one else, not for Grimmel, Drago, and not even Alvin when he got struck by the Skrill’s lightning. That scene, of how he stares down at where Viggo had fallen, and Astrid comes up to him and asks him if he’s okay. Just a mere minute ago Astrid had been threatened by this very man holding her own axe to her throat, and she’s asking Hiccup if he’s okay. I literally yell at the screen at this part. To comfort her, she’s the one who just endured something traumatic. Yet, there’s a moment of silence, where Hiccup stares morosely downward. And he says he’s okay. But he doesn’t check on her wellbeing, if she’s okay after what Viggo had done.
But to me, in showing his shocked expression, displays some sort of mourning over Viggo. Reinforced by the sentence he says afterward. I say this again, this was meant to be the last episode. Had it ended like this, we would have gotten that Hiccup demonstrated some regret in how Viggo came to pass. The writers wanted to leave us with that kind of impact for the end. BUT, it didn’t end like this. Once the next season came we were given a reveal of him having survived the fall into the volcano, but not emerging unscathed.
The writers of RTTE really had the capacity of making him a villain all over again. We see the scars on his face, the marred eye. They worked to reveal his new change ever so nicely. I for one would have completely understood if they had made him vengeful, because of how harshly the Riders struck him down. It would make sense for him to regather forces in attempts to strike them down, even with Hiccup in specificity. Yet, they didn’t. In Wings of Disaster they wished to show us he’d partnered with another villain, that he still had an obsession in obtaining the Dragon Eye. He spoke in reverence of Hiccup, not how he wished to be close enough to him to drive a blade through his heart. We were showed how out of their way they went to show Viggo was not vengeful.
Then, I feel obligated to point out Triple Cross. The very last episode we get with him. Where we get a very short-lived redemption. A redemption I do not think, was originally planned. It was the direction went down because they decided not to make Viggo vengeful for the final two seasons. It was even outlined for us too, in that episode. Krogan so helpfully points it out: “Why do you want him alive? He scarred your face, destroyed your brother and, decimated your empire.” Literally showing us how he was capable of this, yet did not take this path. This was even testing the chance of his redemption too. There wasn’t enough time for Viggo to react, maybe he could have changed his mind, told Krogan that as he spelled it out, why not let Hiccup be killed.
But we reach that point. Left to believe Viggo met his end. The final scene of Triple Cross? Astrid saying it felt weird he was gone, Hiccup saying he taught them a lot. Hiccup takes the piece that represented Viggo during their game, and knocks it over. Signifying the fallen player, then sealing the Maces & Talons board. Once again, bearing a saddened expression with slumped shoulders before steeling himself and exiting.
To think. Hiccup reacted in that way back in season 4 when they were still enemies, but yeesh how they did it when he sacrificed himself and left a parting gift.
I wish to say this, the writers always had this intention. They wanted to show us that Hiccup grieved Viggo’s death. No matter how he met it, they wanted us to witness this. And doesn’t it make you wanna ship vigcup just a little bit more.

HC that Hiccup is HORRIBLY afraid of deep water... i guess it doesn't make too much sense with how much ocean they fly over but like. he's almost drowned SO many times. like, in the first movie, when he tries to get toothless off the boat, then in RoB/DoB it happens a bunch, (Riders e12 after getting struck by lightning (yeesh) Riders e15 Dagur mentions throwing Hiccup into a lake as a kid, Defenders e16 when he gets dragged down by eels (why...)) a couple of times in RTTE (s3e12, diving after the chest, s4e6 just. all of it.) like. dude. SURELY that's gotta affect him a little.
anyways it's interesting to think about. especially after s4e6, you'd think he'd have some sort of aversion.

The green and black Gronckle Iron tailfin is neat. It matches Toothless's colors but it also makes me think of another character with green and black to her color scheme.

DEFENDERS OF BERK | HTTYD SERIES | BREAKING DOWN HICCUP
Blog Post Series: Breaking Down Hiccup
Title: The Night and the Fury
Ep/Season: Episode 3, Season 2 (Defenders of Berk)
Premise:
Hiccup and gang set out on a training exercise on Dragon Island in hopes to train their stealth / combat skills without help from their dragons. Unfortunately, they run into a very, very unlikely "friend"...
IN ASTRID WE TRUST
It's no secret that the team needs some polishing. And we're hoping, Astrid's obstacles could do the trick. I love how they groaned, knowing that her tests is going to be difficult. It's very like them to do that and very like her to make things tough.
Tumblr media
This exercise is fertile ground for individual members of the team to grow. For example:
(1) TUFFNUT TAKES ON THE RESPONSIBILITY OF WATCHING THE DRAGONS
Tumblr media
(2) RUFFNUT GOES OUT ON HER OWN
Tumblr media
(3) FISHLEGS, WELL, IT'S JUST ANOTHER DAY FOR HIM REALLY. I.E., DOING SOMETHING HE'S SCARED TO DO
Tumblr media
(4) HICCUP, DEALING W DAGUR
Tumblr media
(Can we also take a moment to appreciate the little confidence boost Hiccup gives to Fishlegs? We can? Ok. Here you go.)
Tumblr media
If you started watching RTTE without first seeing ROB/DOB, you might wonder why Dagur calls him brother. Well, to be fair, I still don't know why he does, but at least from this episode, you'll know when the supposed familial relationship began.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
P/S: Look at how small & cute baby is.
It's also really cute that Hiccup tries, for the most part, to keep the peace with Dagur, though for the most part, I hate to watch them pandering to him.
THE DAGUR FIASCO
This episode is where I feel DOB kicks off. Hiccup's in a very precarious position. The last time Dagur showed up, Stoick lied that Berk was still at war w dragons and that they still killed them. For the sake of peace, Hiccup didn't have much of a choice but to play along and reassert the lie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This episode is definitely one of my favourites, especially in terms of the Hiccup-Dagur dialogue.
It's hard to not enjoy the "bro-mance" sequences. Just look at this one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, if you only watched RTTE, you might've missed where the Dagur v Snotlout situation also began. And it might surprise you to realise, that Snotlout was very much, a fan of Monsieur Deranged here.
Tumblr media
HICCUP'S STAND
But nothing beats, that moment when Hiccup takes his stand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was such a DEFINING MOMENT, because Dagur has been looking down on Hiccup for years and NOW, NOW?! He realises what a genuine threat Hiccup could be. And more importantly, how easily his pride is wounded.
I'm all here for HEROIC HICCUP. And what an artistic way to show how much Dagur underestimated him. He even underestimate his shield! Much to his lost...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, don't you think that it is very Captain America of Hiccup sometimes, when he's wielding the shield?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And let's not forget, Hiccup is one sassy protagonist. I mean, you know you're an enemy when he burns you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This episode is way more significant than I realised it at first. This whole time, Alvin was Berk's only viable threat. But his beef was with Stoick, initially at least.
But now, Dagur is another. And the person he's going after is Hiccup. Dagur is Hiccup's first archenemy.
And it doesn't help that he's insane.
So, what I loved about this episode was, it heightened the stakes of the entire show AND also, showcased how Hiccup can out-wit, out-smart and challenge Dagur, who I think, must've been a pretty tough contender to command the massive armada he ends up leading.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAY BARUCHEL (9.4.2023)
I know this may come off super random, but it is Jay Baruchel's birthday today. I think we can all agree that Jay is the life and soul of Hiccup. If you follow me on twitter @reviewinghiccup, you should know that I am down the rabbit hole of Jay Baruchel movies, interviews and podcasts.
And what I love so much about this guy is the respect and reverence he has for the show. I mean, he constantly praises it and not just because of his role, which he believes pales in comparison to the artists designing and working the animation, but its obvious that he's a HTTYD superfan.
I love it when an actor pays their respects to the franchise and I do enjoy his take on the work and how much the line between who Hiccup is and who he is, as a person, is blurred.
He's an eloquent speaker and tries to produce, write and direct movies now, instead of act in them. He's based in Canada.
Anyways, something interesting I learned about him was, in an interview w Tom Power, he talks about the book he wrote and what being a fan means to him. Him being a fan of hockey and how precious it can be to live within a franchise or something as massive as indulging interests. It sorta validates me a little, specially since I've dived deep into HTTYD fandom since changing careers.
youtube
And just like Hiccup, there is way more to this guy than it seems. He's funny, humble, kind and generous with his time. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and he's pretty jittery in real life too. But what kind of broke me, was finding out that even with his own father, he felt like he wasn't the kind of son his dad wanted.
Apparently, he had a complicated relationship with his dad which I believe may have bled into his work.
If you've watched enough of his interviews you'll know that he's had to support his mom and sister at 14-years-old with acting gigs because his father left and passed away when Jay was 21 following a drug overdose. Yet, he still remains so kind. I mean, his upbringing was tough, poor and difficult, yet you can still see him trudging through humbly, not wanting to draw attention to himself as much as he can help it.
In an interview article I read this morning, he explained that he wanted to continue being a good husband, son, brother, friend and I thought that was such a genuine Hiccup thing to say. He shoulders all these responsibilities and have been since he was a kid. Look, I don't know the guy personally, but from the expansive notes and recordings I've looked into, he seems pretty decent and I am such a huge fan.
As I grow older, I understand people on a different level. I accord respect so differently from how I would've years ago. And right now, I think what makes Jay Baruchel interesting is his sheer promise to do better for his family. And I think, in the absence of chiefing, running a village and saving the world, Hiccup is very much the same in that aspect too. A chief protects his own, which seems to be the mantra ringing in my head as I listen to Jay talk about his life.
You guys have no idea how much I know about this dude. I have possibly stalked him silly right now. And am a little embarrass as I admit this. Anyways, all I want is for him to succeed, in his work, life and family.

HTTYD continuity: Are there two Hiccups?
First of all, thank you for all the likes and reblogs on my ‘there are two Hiccups’ post. It’s seriously blowing my mind how popular it is. So, if you read it and thought “what? There are two Hiccups?”
Well, no… but actually yes. I wasn’t being literal (I know, on the reading comprehension website? Shame on me), but the thing is, I’m actually kind of right? Just look at these examples from the wiki:
The entire series is based on the six main Dragon Riders moving away from Berk for over a year. However, in commentary, Dean DeBlois has said that they all lived on Berk between the first two films. The second film’s Art Book elaborates on this saying that they all had responsibilities on Berk which prevented them from leaving.
In other words, as far as Dean is concerned, RTTE never happened.
The series also focuses on the six main Dragon Riders exploring lands outside the Archipelago together, while both Dean and the second film’s Art Book state that only Hiccup and Astrid ventured outside the Archipelago as they were the ones drawing up Hiccup's map. The other four stayed much closer to Berk.
Again, we have a direct contradiction between what Dean claims happened pre-HTTYD2 in his (head)canon, and what we see in RTTE.
Numerous other "dragon riders" are introduced throughout the series, when the second and third films themselves stress how Berk is the only community who rides dragons. Dean elaborated on this during a convention panel explaining that that’s why Eret and Drago were so alarmed when seeing Vikings riding on dragons, and why Eret assumed Valka was one of them.
In an interview with the series creators Art Brown and Douglas Sloan, it was mentioned that the show was originally meant to have 4 seasons, spread out over the span of a year and a half, leading up to the second film. Following the many clues and mentions regarding the passage of time within the story, the last 7 episodes of season 4 were supposed to have happened during the same summer as the film. However, when seasons 5 and 6 were ordered into production, the show writers had to carry on with the timeline they had set up, which inevitably lead to the series continuing into negative time; going past the second film.
In other words, the last two seasons of RTTE aren’t meant to take place before HTTYD2 - they take place after it. If there’s better proof that RTTE is on its own separate timeline, I don’t know what that is.
The majority of film characters are portrayed severely out-of-character in the series compared to the films and film-verse media; most arguably Hiccup and Astrid. Aside from having similar appearance and even voices, their personalities and behaviors in the series portray them as drastically different people than their film counterparts.
I would argue that they are more in character during RTTE, especially Snotlout, the twins and Fishlegs. Isn’t it amazing what being fleshed out characters instead of comic relief can do? But there you have it. RTTE!Hiccup is portrayed as drastically different to his film counterpart. When push comes to shove, there are two Hiccups.
Or, you know, three, if we count the one from the books 😂.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to lamenting the fact we live in the timeline where THW exists and not the timeline where the writers of RTTE were allowed to make a full length conclusion movie.

Watched Midnight Scrum during my break and now I'm catching Midnight Scrum feelings.
Like... I've never noticed the sweet, sweet poetry of Hiccup noticing how angry his father got upon rescuing him.
In Riders and Defenders of Berk, you get Hiccup commenting on Stoick's anger a couple of times. But I think the most important one I want to bring up is the comment he makes in RoB's 'Animal House,' when Stoick tells Ruff and Tuff to get Hiccup for him.
Tuffnut: Hey Hiccup! Your father's looking for you. Ruffnut: He looked angry. Hiccup: He's looked angry since the day I was born. But I'm sure there's no connection.
Riders of Berk still takes place not too long after Httyd 1, when Hiccup was both the runt and the local embarrassment. When every attempt to try and gain favor was met with scrutiny, ridicule, and his father's ire.
Stoick even told the able-bodied men and women of his village to choose between sailing to the nest of dragons with him and potentially meet an untimely demise or spent that entire time watching over Hiccup. Everybody in that Thing chose the former.
So when Hiccup makes comments like the one mentioned above, you know where it's coming from.
And then RttE season 4 comes along with 'Midnight Scrum.' The episode in which it turns out Viggo placed a bounty on Hiccup's head and his father (and the rest of the Dragon Riders) has to race to get him back before he's delivered to Viggo. After getting him back, this is what Hiccup tells his dad:
"You know, I don't think I've ever seen you that mad, and that's saying something."
This line, if you remember the way Hiccup had to grow up- always trying so hard to gain acceptance and getting hardly any of it until he defeats the Red Death with Toothless- and making self-deprecating jokes about how his father's "constant" bad mood is somehow connected to his being born... That Hiccup sees his father as angry as he was in this episode for his son, because he was being hurt, because he's been taken... Well, I think this is another something that's come full circle in this franchise.
Hiccup finally sees just how much Stoick loves his son. And I think the next thing Hiccup says backs that up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's worth it to remember that Hiccup comes back to Berk earlier in this episode, expecting retribution for a mistake he's made. One of such proportions he hasn't made since Httyd 1. Stoick reminds Gobber of that before Hiccup even arrives and just the very sight of the young man still makes his blood boil. After all, Hiccup didn't just destroy a piece of the village this time, he lost their gold. They're livelihoods, their means of getting supplies and keeping everyone fed and healthy.
Hiccup even comes to stand before his father like a kicked puppy with Toothless cowering behind him. He's made his father angry again, he's disappointed him. Pulled a stunt like the ones he used to pull back when he was 15 and younger.
Except then the rest of the episode happens and Stoick's anger isn't because didn't tell him about the bounty and got into trouble again. It's because his son has been taken and could be hurt or worse.
Hiccup reunites with Stoick, they have their interaction and Hiccup makes the realization that he is, after all, Stoick's son.
Of course, Hiccup knows his father loves him. He raised him, it showed in how overprotective he was, it showed in how Stoick changed for him. However, this is the first time Hiccup associates Stoick's anger with love for his son as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hiccup's face in those two screencaps says it all, basically. It's the face of a son who sees his father in a whole new light.

SENDING THIS BEFORE I FORGOR AGAIN:Hiccup and Pipsqueak loving eachother is like WAY OBVIOUS to literally everyone except them, even fuckin' Dagur.Case in point:
There's a scene in his fic(still a huge wip,not even half way through Httyd 1)where Hiccup asks Stoick permission to go visit Pipsqueak because he hadn't seen him since the morning of the movie's opening dragon raid attack and Stoick immediately says 'Alright but no funny bussiness.I know how you two are with eachother so i feel the need to make that clear'(And ofc Hiccup mcdies of embarrasment and denial)
All the other viking teens assumed they were a couple already pre-befriending them
Valka spots the love between them after literally 3 convos with them
In Rtte,Dagur is actively hostile to Pipsqueak for 'stealing' Hiccup from him(because of whatever they fuck he had going on on his side towards him in those seasons).Hiccup is still in denial but tells Dagur to his face he'd pick Pipsqueak over him even if he held his axe to his throat(and this leads to Pip kicking Dagur's ass so hard he's scared of him now)
And that's just the stuff i've planned ahead. They're so autistic 4 autistic Odinbless
I FUCKING LOVE THEM SO MUCH IM SO SERIOUS . Bitches who r so comfortable with each other and have been for so long they're unable to see how close they've come to be ..... also the stuff w dagur is so real that hiccup line is going to be bouncing in my head 4 ages . KICK HIS ASS PIP!! Also would VERY much love to read the fic if you wanna share :33!!!

I used to say Season 4 is my favorite RTTE season, but that may come to change now that I’m refreshing my memory of Season 2. And I can’t help but be impressed by the order of episodes, specifically from The Zippleback Experience to the Edge of Disaster two-parter.
Cuz like these four episodes I’m like, huh. It’s: The Zippleback Experience Snow Way Out Edge of Disaster pt. 1 Edge of Disaster pt. 2
I’m not trying to say these episodes happen within days of each other, I’m saying how I’m appreciative of the events that take place in each and how they lead into one another.
Zippleback Experience has the main plot of Barf & Belch becoming attached to Hiccup and Toothless because they saved them. Yet in the other conflict it was two Dragon Hunters having snuck onto the Edge and taken Hiccup captive the moment he was alone. Taken by goal of Dagur and Ryker wanting to use him to get them to all the islands having been discovered with the Dragon Eye. So they weren’t able to get the Dragon Eye, but they’d use a Rider instead.
Then the premise of Snow Way Out being that the Hunters were planning on capturing a Snow Wraith to tear out a tooth in order to unlock the Dragon Eye. Which was still in the Dragon Riders’ possession. I point out a specific detail where Hiccup explains why they have to be stopped. They get the tooth, and their next stop would be the Edge. To take the Dragon Eye. While confronting the Hunters on Glacier Island, Ryker demands the Dragon Eye. Leader meeting with leader. Hiccup of course doesn’t have the Dragon Eye on hand. Then there’s shots fired, Hiccup nearly shot with a dragon-root arrow.
Ryker confronts Heather afterward as to why she purposely provided a distraction enough for Hiccup to get the shield up. Her response? Her and Dagur have told Ryker plenty enough times that Hiccup is worth more alive than dead. (and doesn’t that remind you of an episode in season 4) The ending of the episode comes to be where the Riders accomplish their goal. The Hunters do not get a Snow Wraith tooth. In other news we hear of the actual leader of the Dragon Hunters, second lead-in to Viggo Grimborn.
Yet even though the Hunters didn’t succeed, Hiccup gave us a foreshadow. Regardless of having a tooth, they would come to raid the Edge and get the Dragon Eye. Here they come in Edge of Disaster. And didn’t Johann coincidentally get the current valuable assets against the Dragon Hunters away from the Edge. Although the Hunters were believing that they would have to fight all six instead of three.
And man, how Dagur and Heather said they’d eliminate Ryker once they got ahold of the Dragon Eye, hmm you two didn’t know who you really were up against.

For the ask game 6, 10, 11, and 14... hopefully those can fill your time but let me know if you need more lmao!
AGH TY for asking so many!! Im certain ill be able to fill a lot of time with those <333
6. Favourite ships; like i mentioned on your post, for me it really fluctuates what ship is in the front of my mind on any given day. Ofc, hiccstrid is a big one (theyre really good to me personally) and I'm currently also in a big snotstrid mood bc of my friend @spacenintendogs 's dragons off the coast au! (Also p l e a s e if you aren't familiar yet with dragons off the coast im begging you to look into it, its such an interesting take on a modern au and Rose's writing and worldbuilding is absolutely phenomonal). Fishlout also takes up a space in my heart, adore them so much! The dynamic is so good.
Ruffnut and her army of men is also so good, and the dynamics she has with Eret, Fishlegs and Snotlout is really fun and has a lot of potential. Tho i do also think she and Heather have potential. As do Eret and Heather! That whole group can just be mixed and matched together haha. Heather and Fishlegs ofc is also wholesome, they deserved more than this!
Due to me being so involved in the oc side of the fandom and being a really big supporter of everything oc (which is common knowledge after 4 years of this haha), I also love a lot of people's ocxcanon ships! Such as Rose's oc Ermintrude and Snotlout, @nosuda-cringe 's oc Mayeth Vang and Snotlout, and ofc the ships you've hinted and teased in otwd (zephbal save me... save me zephbal. I think about them a. Normal amount. Same with castav but i wouldnt let them save me, they need to save themselves first), plus a lot of others. Theyre all very dear to me <333
10: favourite songs from the soundtrack; OKAY so ive actually got history with this! When i was about 13-16-ish i had music classes as part of my middle school experience (lmao) and we were given the freedom to do any project we wanted. In those 2-3 years i used the httyd soundtrack twice for projects!
First I used Forbidden Friendship (that song man. That song) as like. An underbeat or smt? To add things on. Im sure it sounded horrendous and y'know the other kids in my class laughed at me bc of me using an animated movie's soundtrack, but the song did remain a favourite of mine and still is.
The second time I used the soundtrack was just after the third movie released! We were once again granted freedom and I decided to learn Once There Were Dragons on the piano! (Im not certain i still know it LMAO its been 5 years, this was even before I learned about OTWD which is in hindsight pretty funny)
Ofc once again the kids around me weren't amused and I couldn't play piano to save my life (my hands are too small to reach the octaves needed which. Sucked haha) but i had a lot of fun and the song really stayed with me throughout the years, it always brings me at least some sort of emotion <3
11; favourite locations; OH gotta be Old Berk and Dragon Island. We spend so much time in Old Berk during the shows and the movies and the form of the island is just so... memorable, in a way. In school of dragons, i always loved climbing the Great Hall up to Gothi's little hut haha. Miss that silly little island.
Dragon Island is soooo underused but i adore the implications sm! Like, the Red Death's corpse is there (and we all know how much i love environment changing giants) and we haven't really seen it since RoB/DoB. Underused location in my humble opinion.
Honorable mentions to Berserker Island and the weird treasure island from rtte season 1. They really slayed haha
14; favourite animation style; everyone knows i'm a big hand animation girlie so I have to go for those little moments in the franchise where more 2D animation is implemented (like in Fishlegs' leadership dream and the Boneknapper special). The keyframing and the subtle movements are really worth analysing and i absolutely adore how it's used. A real treat for us animators! (Special mention to the animation that's been going around from the live special, so good)
As for 3d styles, I have to say the first movie. It has a very raw edge which i love and it gives everything a great feeling. Plus, the animation error during forbidden friendship they left in the final cut owns me <333

How on earth is it possible that a Studio (DreamWorks) That fucked up the lore of one of their best franchises (T9R) managed to make this Series so incredibly good. 9 Realms was already in motion when the last two seasons of the JW-Series and that’s crazy to me. Also this whole show is better than the whole new JW-Trilogy and Steven Spielberg was actually an Executive Producer on some Seasons and Episodes. I‘m so excited about Chaos Theory, hopefully it will be good.
Some of the things that were shown with the Characters I would’ve liked to see in Rtte. Like in Season 4 of Camp Cretaceous Yaz has PTSD from the adventures of the Isla Sorna. I would’ve liked to see in the episode after Blindsided a similar scenario with Astrid.
