after endlessly making sure she looked perfect and taking hundreds of photos in front of the large bathroom mirror, all the while definitely listening to her companion drone on about their itinerary, callista decided it was time to part with her reflection. she looked every bit ready for the beach in her brightly-colored tie front bandeau and matching pair of shorts, topped off with an oversized button up, sunhat, and sunglasses. she knew she looked great, and that alone was enough to assure her that absolutely nothing could ruin her day. until her eyes landed on ian. “do not tell me that’s what you’re wearing. we’re going to the beach for crying out loud!” her face was one of pure disbelief and unbridled distaste, already charging towards his closet. “i know you’re all about that boring life, but could you at least dress fun?”

Lady Bird (2017): I cannot even express how important this movie is to me. If I had to choose a movie to watch everyday for the rest of my life, it would be this one.
Pride and Prejudice (2005): this movie is perfect, argue with the wall (and that’s my Letterboxd review)
Thor Ragnarok (2017): forever my comfort Marvel movie. The dialogue, the music, the characters, the themes - it’s such an good watch!
Tangled (2012): my favorite Disney movie. There will be no further explanation.
Begin Again (2013): I still listen to this movie’s soundtrack almost every week, that’s how much I love it.
Jojo Rabbit (2019): I was never the same after watching this movie. It makes me laugh and cry and feel so many things, but in the end, it never fails to cheer me up and believe there’s good in the world.
Rocketman (2019): listen, it was my 2019/2020 hyperfixation. And Elton John is one of my all time favorite artists, there was no way I wouldn’t include this movie here.

15. How has my identity changed over time?
I love looking back on smol me and being like "oh that's a nonbinary kiddo right there" but genuinely would NOT have conceived that for myself back then. Hindsight y'know? Where I grew up, I barely knew homosexual relationships were A Thing; trans people were A Joke (and not a nice one); anything else was like.... not even on the radar. Everyone in my close circle knew I was bi before I admitted it to myself--and I spent about three years going "am I bi?" (to a resounding chorus of YES) before going "oh okay yeah I can't actually keep pretending, I'm definitely bi"
then at 18 was "am I ace because Trauma or am I just ace?" to which my ultimate answer was "who cares why, I'm definitely 1) gray ace, and 2) demisexual as fuck"
the next big one was the polyam one, actually, because it somehow shook everyone more than me being bisexual / pansexual and coudln't be ignored the way me being ace was. (I did settle on pan becuase it's more accurate for the way I experience attraction, but I use them somewhat interchangably)
then you get "I can't be nonbinary bc my best friend is nonbinary and everyone will think I'm copying them" to "okay but I am definitely Not a Girl but I'm Not a Boy except sometimes I am a girl or a boy help" to "maybe I can just keep this buried deep inside myself and never have to acknowledge it" to "i stayed up all night reading destiel trans-designation omegaverse fic and i can't hide who I am anymore"
and now I'm just out here vibing my best queer life as some kind of fluid-af queer mess who wants to shove my neopronouns agenda down everyone's throats and wears a rainbow daddy crop jersey to pride!!

OK, so I’ve been thinking a bit about how I fell into c dramas lately. Because I can’t seem to make the timeline make sense in my head. And after much research this afternoon, I think I’ve finally figured out why: the pandemic really has just entirely fucked with my perception of time. O_o;;;
I keep thinking that I just got into DMBJ like... “last year.” It FEELS like it should have been last year. But after that one WiP Title meme response, I was abruptly reminded that I was just getting into HeiPing almost exactly a year ago... and that was at LEAST a year after first getting into DMBJ. So I did some looking.
I reblogged my first TLTR posts in mid-late July OF 2020. Definitely NOT a year ago. XD And I caved and got an iQIYI subscription around the end of July/beginning of August of 2020 to watch it. So it’s been like... 2 1/2 YEARS, not ONE year. OTZ
Thanks pandemic... everything that happened around when you started was “a year ago” I GUESS???
Then I got curious about when I first got into c-dramas, because in my head that was “a couple of years ago” but CLEARLY IT WAS NOT.
My first tagged The Untamed post was from November of 2019.

I’m almost certain I started watching that in the summer of 2019. But either way, it was only a YEAR (or less???) from my first forays into c dramas to landing in the DMBJ pit?
No WONDER my mental timeline construct on that one is so fucked up. I was so sure I was in TUD fandom for longer than a year before branching out into Guardian and I was sure I was in Guardian for at least a year before stumbling into DMBJ but CLEARLY THAT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE CASE????

I was writing (and posting) Legacies Lost up until the first full semester of lockdown began, which would have been Fall of 2020. And I don’t THINK I was in Guardian fandom before that? Maybe I overlapped more than I thought?
...my first Guardian post was May of 2020, but I’d clearly been watching for at least a little while by the time I reblogged that post.
I am SO fucking confused, you guys. I REALLY THOUGHT I was in c drama fandoms for much much longer before landing in DMBJ. HOW IS THAT SO CRUNCHED AND CONDENSED???
Ooooooooooh. OK, I see. I forgot that the summer of 2019 was Rocketman summer. And I was definitely NOT yet in c drama fandoms at the time. But now I remember that a friend was putting The Untamed on my dash for at LEAST 6 months to a year before I started watching it. That might be why it seemed like it was longer. And I guess I really must have overlapped more between Guardian and TUD than I thought I had. The tipping point to me posting more Guardian stuff was in June of 2020 and it was a month after that that I fell into DMBJ.
WOW.
Sorry guys; probably no one cares, but this is weirding me out a little. XD All this time I really thought I was in Guardian fandom for way longer than DMBJ but APPARENTLY NOT??? I’m so confused. XD
OK. I’m gonna go... toddle off and think about other things now. XD

Movie Meme 🎬
Post 7 comfort movies and tag 7 people. I was tagged by @lunaraindrop and as soon as i was, i immediately forgot every movie i've ever seen.
i think these all count as comfort movies, but they're really just all movies that have significant meaning to me in one way or another OR that i can watch/re-watch no matter what (is that what a comfort movie is? idk)
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993): if you know me at all, you would've seen this one coming lmao This is my no. 1 fave movie of all time, and it has been since I was..9? I remember exactly where I was when i first saw it and i remember just standing there fully enraptured. literally standing, like i was standing directly in front of the TV
Rocketman (1997) the disney one, where they go to mars! i would put this tape on every night to fall asleep to the point i had the previews (which became all static-y and worn out from constant re-watching) and the first like, 15 min memorized. also, for some reason my family would constantly quote things from this movie without fully realizing it ("hey, what kind of laptop do you have?", "...using what we like to call 'the right way'.", and "now THAT was julie.".)
Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (1997) the Whitney Houston version with Brandy :) THE BEST adaptation of this version of cinderella. no i will not be taking arguments at this time. sidenote: i FLIPPED SHIT when i went on the Universal lot tour in California last year because this was filmed there on their little 'european town' backdrop. The tour guide said that and i gasped so loud-an actual aloud reaction to that news-and started ranting to my husband about it.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (1999) i loved this movie sm as a kid that i was one of the ensemble kids at a church (that i didn't go to)'s production of the play. me. on a stage. in front of people. singing and dancing and shit.

The Princess Diaries (2001) and Princess Diaries 2 (2004); my little sis and i LOVED watching these movies when we were young. also, while i was writing my steddie PD2 au, i found out that my husband did NOT like these movies and i still don't know what to do with that information.
The Last Holiday (2006) somehow i always forget about this movie. like, everytime i'm reminded of it, it feels like i hadn't watched it in YEARS (though i end up watching it every year around new years!). it's literally so good and makes me want to book a trip to Karlovy Vary/Grandhotel Pupp (and maybe also visit Aneta while i'm there 👀)
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) is there anyone who doesn't love this movie?? it is my family's comfort christmas movie and we watch it every christmas eve! (P.S., this movie was my first into to the christmas carol story, and it really threw me off later when i watched a different version and there was only one Marley and not two Marley brothers 😅)
