Why I don’t like Ranveer Singh
Tumblr media
This is the most impulsive blog that I am writing of my entire writing journey. 😂
A teaser dropped in of Karan Johar's 'Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani'. And I liked the teaser. So when discussing with a Friend I highlighted that I do not like Alia and Ranveer but I liked the teaser due to the Karan Johar touch. And then we almost fought over why I do not like Ranveer because I was not given a good typing time in the so-called ‘debate’😁. My argument is a deal.
Why I don’t like him.
Ranveer Singh as an actor is too loud who overpowers the character.
In the times of multiple entertainment formats (Movie, web series etc) Ranveer Singh is the same everywhere. You watch Simmba, Bajirao Mastani and Ramleela or Padmavat, nothing changes apart from looks.
He may play versatile roles but that ‘Ranveer’ energy never offloads.
He is neither the boy next door nor a goor or bad cop personality. Then what is his own?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Ranveer Singh is a good actor. No doubt. But as a fan you fall for the personality of an actor equally. It is an era of social media. Actors want to be seen on screen and at events, airports, reality shows, weddings and funerals as well. I mean why do you think Ranveer wears flashy clothes and roams around with huge speakers at airports. To be seen. Isn't it? I do not want to see a weird man like this. I am from an era of SRK, Akshay, Ajay, Amir, Salman, Jackie and even Govinda for that matter. I accepted yellow and red pants and even ripped jeans with bare chest Salman. Our generation has accepted it all. But Salman never roamed around in public with a t-shirt off or Govinda in Yellow pants I suppose. Of course we did not have instagram then. But humans remain humans. You absorb the advisable and avoid the ignorable. 😁 Ranveer did exactly the opposite. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I some how do not fit into that transition unless its only limited to screens. These actors are still on camera but then there is a big space in between the paparazzi cams and film cameras. Ranveer just mixes it all.
Jokes apart. An actor is an actor on screen but an individual outside. Shouldn't there be a difference when you see this man in both the places? "His 'traits' are such" as my friend points. But then do you mean he is acting on the outside too? Or is he not able to get into the character because of how he is on the outside? I am really confused. Where does he take real efforts? On or off screen? So much coincidence in every role and script that his traits are so magnetic for all the makers to want him to be him everywhere? Isn't he bored of jumping and bouncing everywhere? He was hopping as Kapil Dev also. Seriously? Thank God he did not play Dhoni. 😓Didn’t we see Sushant Singh Rajput as Dhoni and Sushant both?
Tumblr media
I remember Sushant in Shudh Desi Romance, I remember Shahid in Kabir Singh as well as Jab we met, I even remember Sonakshi in Holiday and Tapasee in Thappad as well as Naam Shabana. Do you remember Ranveer in Ladies Vs Ricky Behl? If No, I will tell you why. Because he has overdone Band Baaja Baraat all the time. Once he realized it works he decided to eat, drink and sleep on it. He enjoys the fun those young fans have when they see this over enthusiastic man. He enjoys the following for his madness.
Tumblr media
But when the same actor sheds tears on screen it does not reach the heart because you saw him last jumping when he promoted the film repeatedly. That emotion does not register. Because the man is very shallow. He does not show different shades of human personality. I suppose he doesn’t want to. I distinctly remember Ranveer in Ladies Vs Ricky Behl, Lootera, Dil Dhadakne Do, Gully Boy and 83. Movies where we could forget him as Ranveer and only watch Kabir, Murad or Ricky. In Fact he has done really amazing as all of them. As an actor he himself does not want to showcase various strokes as an artist. He can carry some roles naturally with ease like ‘Kabir’ in Dil Dhadakne Do. I loved him in that film. But you see him purely acting there because you have seen that of him very less. I am sure people will say 'film hai acting nahi karega toh kya karega'. But when that acting shows on the face of an actor in 2015 who debuted in 2010, you know it's a long way to go. Pagalpanti wala formula hit hai.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I compared him to Govinda. My friend just rubbished the comparison saying ‘how can they be the same. Are Shahid and Ranveer the same?’ Now, let's answer that argument. Shahid comes from a horribly dysfunctional family background. Yet you see a calm and composed man when you see Shahid in real life. Nobody knows what happens in their personal lives. But when you see the man, you identify with his ‘traits'. Imagine Shahid hopping around and smiling unnecessarily to hide the misery. How do we judge this man called Ranveer? Shouldn't you be able to point out a difference between Simmba and Ranveer?😁 He is a next level mad man. Even the bad man is good in real life. 😂
People like me are in the minority. But we enjoyed all types of actors. When we saw the same people outside the films they were different people. So we knew Jackie Shroff as a good actor and Jackie Shroff as a rugged man with filthy Hindi. It never bothered me because when I heard him speaking Hindi in movies he was the most ideal man anybody could wish for. As a fan I see a lot of them everywhere today. So I can expect a lot from them on screen too. Govinda gets an upperhand there because apart from films I only saw him in awards or some red carpet. But today the way actors are 'available' for paps I will judge you over every small act. 😜
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For example ‘83’. Great job here but when promoting Ranveer failed to imbibe even 20% of Kapil Dev’s calmness. Too loud. So what you see is Ranveer Singh again. I believe if the actor is playing a role he/she should be able to carry it for some time to make people believe in your work. You are not the same in office as home and vice a versa. Some dignity is required. Just because you belong to the entertainment industry you do not get the liberty to act like a retard everywhere and yet be loved for ‘he is so energetic’ nuisance. Otherwise you may swim in insanity. I am very sure it’s just pretending. He is not the way he shows us to be. Even Deepika tried this madness but then immediately bounced back. You cannot keep on pretending. This man is a constant nautanki. 😯
You can’t blame Ranveer completely. Because we have not seen the real Peshwa Bajirao we believed Ranveer did a fine job. After all it was Sanjay Leela Bhansali who made us believe. Ranveer was not even close to a Marathi common man yet people went gaga over him. Personally I feel he sounded just like Ram from Ramleela. Let's not go to the dance for even a second. But Rohit Shetty just proved me right because he could not remove a Singh out of Ranveer to play a Bhalerao. Do not worry, I googled Simmba. ☺️
Tumblr media
You are not just a fan of one movie but collectively an actor's work and how he behaves in reality. Ranveer Singh confuses me. And confusion cannot entertain. Hence he fails to be liked by me. 🙂
Now we plan Alia Bhatt war! ⚠️

Sushant Singh Rajput
**Trigger Warning**- Suicide, Depression
I apologise, this will be a long post, but I felt the need to spill my thoughts and possibly gain some closure. Please bear with me 🥺☹️
I think it’s been over a week I have been sulking and hiding away in the recesses of my mind. Ever since I found out about Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, I haven't been able to get over it as I normally do with celebrities. I feel a sense of despair and misery and they don't seem to be dissipating anytime soon. For better or worse I have resorted to watching his films that I haven't caught up on. I think in some twisted way I believe that watching his past films will bring me some form of closure. But really it’s deepening the ache in my heart, with the realisation he wouldn't be around for another brilliant performance, that shatters me.
I partly blame myself for this ache. I feel responsible as an avid movie watcher, I have always been aware of his films, I simply didn't take the leap of faith to watch them, if only I had, I would have understood the depth of his talent earlier.
In fact, I recently got around to watching Detective Byomkesh Bakshy and the ease of how he slipped into the role of a brilliant eccentric Sherlock-Esque character blew my mind. The role completely irradiated the actor’s presence behind the character and I completely and utterly believed he was the Detective. It is a testament to his acting prowess and the ability to slip into roles in almost a seamless manner as if, they were made especially for him.
Then there was Sonchiriya, what a helluva ride that film was, yet again I was completely convinced watching him as an outlaw bhaagi blindly following his iron-hearted leader, then later the despair from his leader's death and the final conviction to do the right thing for the once in his life. It was every bit heart wrenching and soulful watching Lakhna, finally receive the redemption he so desperately sought.
Speculations and News Coverage
I have been reading the speculations around his death, all over the world, people are trying to come to terms with his death whether it was pre-mediated murder or really a suicide. The fact of the matter is no matter what the conclusion turns out to be, he’s gone forever and solving this case isnt going to bring him back. I think even now days later I haven't come to terms with it. How could it happen? What exactly transpired leading him to make such a drastic decision? Who is to blame for his untimely death? Ultimately, there is a pain in the realisation that a man every bit talented and bright as him, had decided at some point that death would be the only way out. Pain, that to some extent the industry he worked and poured his soul into, may have played a part in his terminal downfall.
Oh and don't get me started on the media's news coverage.  I haven't seen such a degraded level of humanity than what journalists, TV channels and reporters have displayed these past few days. Has a human life become so worthless that you refuse to give mourners the right to grieve in peace, the soul of the departed to rest in peace? That you had to share such confidential pictures of such a sensitive case all over the internet? It absolutely disgusts me, that there are people out there who would be willing to sell their dignity, shame and morals for TRPs. Utter scum, that’s all.
Change is vital for great films and great artists
Regarding the clusterfuck of emotions, accusations and outrage happening in Bollywood right now, I believe it had to happen at some point. I’m heartbroken that it took a preventable death for Bollywood and the audience to finally break this dam. I hope and pray that a productive and significant change is brought on by the chaos, that this outrage isn't one that merely blows over in the coming days. There needs to be a solid change in Bollywood which grants promising and genuine fledgeling talent easier access to auditions, directors/producers without needing the backing of big names, money or godfathers. And, what even is the need for an elite society of Bollywood stars? We get it, you make good movies and are bankable profit bringers, but if you can't even be decent humans and refuse to get off your high horses then I don't see the point of even worshipping such ‘stars’.  As long as we the audience, the film watchers support art made by the sub-par talent of nepotism spawn. Filmmakers, talent agents and  producers won't be pressured into actually producing good quality films with talent that actually deserve a chance to shine in the starry filmy world.
Your Mental Health is in your hands
I think the most important takeaway of this horrifying incident is the fragility of life and the value of prioritising your mental health. Listen, you are precious, your life is precious and you are worth so much more than the sum of your parts. If you take the decision to end it all, think about the people in your life who would be the most affected. The void left by your absence will never heal because you would have taken a piece of them with you forever. No matter what you think of yourself, know that there are people out there who are going to miss most, the parts of you that you think are flawed. All your insignificant quirks, flaws and imperfections that make you lovable, inspiring and most importantly human. We live in a world, so stricken with becoming perfect that we forget, we were created to be human;imperfect, chaotic and confusing. Never ever think your precious life isn't worth it, I guarantee that there will be someone will be affected by your loss. Please, for the love of all that is good and bad, reach out if you are in pain and suffering. Depression is a horrifyingly isolating illness, it locks you up in the darkest and most vulnerable corners of your mind, depriving you of love, confidence and your will to fight. So, just if there is someone out there you trust, friends, family, therapists, helplines, heck, even me reach out, please. For the sake of your future self, for what you could become in the future. For the possibility of a life full of love, hang on, please.
May peace be with you Sushant
As for Sushant, well I guess there is nothing much left to say, we can praise his work, the wonderful and down-to-earth personality that we lost to the stars too soon. In the end, it's all just a sad reminder of our futility in stopping his death. His death leaves a scathing reminder, that mental illness doesn't discriminate. Not between the rich, poor, famous, literate or illiterate we all fall prey to it. However, the difference between life and death is how we choose to battle it, in silence or with a support system. You get to decide what you want to do with your life, don't make it one you’ll regret. I’m sorry Sushant, I'm sorry you had to take such a decision to find your peace. I hope now that wherever you are, you are filled with the peace and love that you didn't get, here with us.

Watching 'Dil Bechara' trailer on repeat because I can't get enough of Sushant's smile and also because I love making myself cry
Tumblr media
Listen up ya'll. We are going to love this film to death, we are going to shower so much love on it, that Sushant can feel it in heaven, we are going to flock to theatres (armed with facemasks and following the rules of social distancing) and make this film a super hit. We are going to give Sanjana Sanghi the debut she deserves and to Sushant, the goodbye he deserves. Let this be our tribute to him, let's show him that his memory will live on through his art!

What I've realised about Bollywood crumbling is how invincible they thought they were. Drugs and all that aside, the sheer amount of power they thought they wielded crumbled the instant it came out to the public how self obsessed they were. To them, it didn't matter if real talent was being pushed out or if the film tanked or was a hit. It was always about the fame, status, money, pap shots and clout. Most actors and actresses were only hired because of their faces or buff bodies and their great "connections". The star kids have completely monopolised the industry to the extent that every film has their face on it, simply because of their surnames. Some of them even get double roles, even though they can barely justify their shit acting in a single role.
The worst part is it took a death of a guy, who was perhaps the only good man in that place, to expose this. He was a human, with flaws no doubt, but he seemed like his heart was in the right place, and that he was a dedicated man. And now, his memories are tainted by an ugly media trial which is run purely for agenda, political or otherwise.
What a fucking travesty.
I hope you find peace wherever you are, Sushant. Rest easy. 💕

seriously there are a few people that i have seen who are as opportunistic as kangana ranaut.
like ok the issue you’re raising is pretty widespread in the industry, and yeah people are mistreated because of it, using someone’s death as a shield for doing that is just shitty.
then you got the guts to demean other outsiders like taapsee pannu and swara bhaskar by calling them “b grade actresses” and “people who are enjoying the fruits of your labour”. bitch you’re not the only one who struggled. others struggle too, each day, harder than you in this industry. you keep on using sushant’s death as an excuse, EVEN THOUGH YOU NEVER EVEN SPARED HIM A GLANCE.
if you’re so concerned about nepotism, i’d like to see you calling out abhishek bacchan, or any of the kapoors, or kajol, or rani mukherji, or any other actor with prior ties to the industry. she doesn’t call them out, only people she has had grudges against. then how the hell can you say that you “genuinely care”? and remember, if you have a kid tomorrow, that kid too will be a star kid and will benefit from your stardom if they enter the industry, whether you like it or not. i’d like her reaction then.
the truth is sushant committed suicide because of severe depression, and yet nobody is ready to talk about that. instead, kangana calls people like deepika padukone, who spoke up about mental health, as “living off your sob story”.
seriously people, let his soul live in peace, he would not have wanted this. and kangana supporters, please get checked.

Dil Bechara | Sushant Singh Rajput | We laughed with him, We cried with him
'Dil Bechara' has been released on 24th July in Disney+Hotstar & it was the last work of SSR. In every moment of the movie, his smile and acting with 'full of life' showed that it was just like his real life. But you can't hold your tears after watching the movie, as reel incidents seemed to be similar as real one. It's not just a movie, it's an emotion for all of us.
You will always be remembered, you will forever be in our heart.
 Seri, Sushant!

End mental health stigma
I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise. He was an great Indian actor. In his last movie he spoke about depression and suicide. He was an incredible person and touched many lives by his movie, ‘Chichhore” It is an sad irony that his life has to end this way.
We can never know who is suffering from depression. Who is having suicidal thoughts. Be kind and listen to a person when they share. Stand with your friends, family members, work associates or generally anyone you know when they they are suffering. End the mental health stigma. It is not a joke and no one is faking it. On the outside it could seem like a person has everything is not always what is seems. Treat people with kindness.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister Shweta shares a poem written by the late actor; ‘I had the game wrong’ | Bollywood Life
It has been more than seven months to the tragic demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, but the pain just does not diminish. As fans carry out a public campaign to seek closure to the circumstances around his death, they also keep his memories alive via posts. As we know, he was a polymath. Besides his interest in acting and astrophysics, he loved literature. Sushant Singh Rajput maintained a diary…
