To the man that brought to life one of the most witty and iconic men on tv
Rest In Peace Andre Braugher......you've brought us such iconic scenes and amazing one liners that we still use to this day. You brought us many laughs and joy with your talent. Thank you! We'll miss you!
He was a fantastic actor and so much more than his role on Brooklyn 99. I watched many of his movies and shows, but will most treasure and remember him fondly for bringing us gut-busting laughs and countless memes as Captain Holt.
RIP Andre Braugher 💙💙💙 Your portrayal as Captain Holt inspired and affected my life greatly, and led to me making many Batman comparisons and Batfam as B99 jokes. My art page wouldn’t be what it is today without you, and this page has literally saved my life.
Another amazing talent has left us, Mr. Braugher was quite a force on the screen and the stage, and always gave 100% in any character he was tasked to bring to life.
Rewatching B99 and I just love that Jake was so lost in love with Amy already that nothing -- not solving an unsolvable case or setting a new record -- could make him feel better about not being with her, that it really was this void that he just could not fill with anything else.
I am so sorry to hear of the much too early death of Andre Braugher at only 61 years old 😭
Not only have we lost a actor who brought great warmth and humanity to a his portrayal of a neurodivergent gay black character as Captain Holt, but one who genuinely thought and openly committed to change about the role of a lifetime of playing cops on screen in the acceptance of police violence towards marginalised people.
That’s a special thing in an actor, and I’m so very sorry we are not going to have his subtlety and warmth in deconstructing police violence on our screens in future.
