My dearest sweet Aaliyah, I think about you always but this year especially…you were everywhere I turned ❤️
Either on the shelves in a record store, or your face on a T-Shirt. Every time I stepped out, I saw you looking straight back at me. It was so bittersweet, my heart swelled with pride and recognition. Nostalgia took over. I was overjoyed to see you more present than ever, your legacy not only intact but thriving…but the double edged sword is that it is also a constant reminder of what exactly we lost and how you should still be here 😔
This year is hitting a little differently (and somewhat a little harder)…so all I want to do is sit in a dark room alone, watching your movies and videos and celebrate the truly authentic, beautious spirit that you were and forever will be. I miss you beyond words…but I’m so proud of the person you were and the everlasting legacy you have left behind. For now, I say thank you. For all that you are and for all that you will continue to be for me. I hope you feel the abundance of love with every passing year and sing along to the music that we play just that little bit louder for you to hear. Maybe if I close my eyes and listen hard enough, I’ll hear you 🕊
I love you, Aaliyah…always ✨❤️
Soar high Babygirl…
