Canon tanthamore moments people don’t talk about enough because the show is not dead yet.

In almost every shot where something happens that’s cool or new they look at each other first. Every time. Sometimes it’s a judgemental “are you seeing this shit?” A worried “are you okay?” Or “what have we gotten into.” Sometimes it’s a happy “how fucking cool is it we’re finally having adventures together” neeedless to say on your next rewatch look for it. It’s so cute

The fact that Jade let kit win not because she thought kit wasn’t capable, but because she sees herself as kits protector and she wanted to shoulder that burden for her princess

God I would die for this ship. There are so many cute little moments they have together.

I don’t think people give Kit enough credit for intending to go through with the engagement and fulfill her duties to the kingdom. She was nice enough and wore the right clothes and did all that was expected. She only broke down because Jade was leaving. But up until that point, even though she made some sharp comments about Graydon, she had been behaving just as expected. And she even apologized to Graydon aftwards. She’s a great princess and I’m proud of her.

Genuinely though, I love how the creators allow Kit to be weak in a funny way sometimes. I feel like too often, especially in Disney's other action movie properties, female characters are almost never weak. Or if they are, it's in a very emotional and poignant scene, and they recover. But there are so many times in the show where Kit loses a fight or gags at liver or completely passes out when she takes a throwing star to the arm. That shit is funny. And it doesn't make her any less heroic.

Male characters are constantly allowed to be heroic, strong, and tough, but also very humorously weak. It's really nice to finally have a female character written that way.

When writing female characters, you don't have to worry about writing them as female. Just write them the way you would male characters. They're the same. Give them strengths and weaknesses. Use those characters to make the audience cry, make them cheer, and even make them laugh.

Summary: so.. here it is the conclusion of the original storyline. Ideally this chapter is happening soon after the closure of chapter 10 (maybe you might want to read it again before reading this new one 😊). Let’s see if Jade is finally able to overcome the rule that she had put to their marriage.

- Jades love language is acts of service and kits is physical touch I think the show backs me up on this one.

- Kit is very pro PDA/ wants to touch Jade all the time, and Jades knightly duty instincts tell her it’s absolutely unacceptable to be seen doing that with the princess (but also like she totally wants to). So basically it balances out into the perfect amount of PDA, little touches, flirty looks, just being comfortable in each others presence. Like painfully obvious but not overbearing.

- Jade is really inquisitive so on the rare occasion she’s not training or with kit she goes to the library to read. She has this little corner where only kit knows where to find her and she just hunkers down there for a couple hours in sweet solitude. (also she has stolen books from the library stacked under her bed. You can’t change my mind).

- Kit on the other hand gives me inattentive ADD/ADHD vibes (probably just projecting but I don’t care). so this girl cannot sit down and read to save her life. However she does like listening to stories so Kit will put her head in Jades lap and she’ll read aloud to her

- Jade is super ticklish and kit absolutely uses that to her advantage.

- Because kits shorter she always hugs jade around the waist and Jade always hugs her around the shoulders. (Their HEIGHT DIFFERENNNCEE!!)

- In following funky little queer seating practices, when the gang is sitting around the fire late kit sits on the ground between Jades legs and leans back on her

- Jade is purposefully romantic. Like she’ll plan a whole romantic evening top to bottom, making sure it’s at a time and place that’s convenient for kit. Or She’ll give kit handwritten letters she spent hours writing.

- Kit is accidentally romantic. Like she’ll randomly grab jade and drag her off to watch at the sunset just because it looks cool and she wants to do it with her. She doesn’t really write notes but she’ll randomly blurt out the most romantic sweet things that make Jade go weak in the knees.

- I’ve seen posts about this already but kit head butting jade for affection 🥺

- kit kissing jades nose because she always wrinkles it in the most adorable way

- KIT SITTING IN JADES LAP!!

- Despite having a lot of top energy Jade is still fairly shy so Kit will very often makes her flustered and she flushes bright red and hides her face in her hands.

- Jade very easily scooping kit off her feet anytime she’s being a little shit.

- Jade has a sweet tooth kit has always indulged

- Tanthamore feels like the couple that tell each other everything (in spirit of the truth plums) so if you tell one of them a secret it comes with the preface from kit of “Jade is also now your secret holder. I am absolutely telling her” and Jade “kit will find a way to force it out of me”

- last but certainly not least: Kit is a bratty bottom and Jade is a service top I will take NO criticism.

One of my favorite details of Willow (2022) is when Kit decides she's going to throw that knife in the middle of a crowded ball, only Airk and Jade don't flinch away. Every other partygoer who is remotely nearby (in the shot) moves away from Airk. Both Jade and Airk trust Kit enough that they don't move at all.

willow (the show) is crazy bc how did we get fantasy adventure with two masc lesbians as the main couple on DISNEY PLUS???

I’ve been wanting to write this for far too long never really knowing how. Anyway. I grew up watching Willow every time it was on TV and being a huge addict of fantasy movies. Growing up I fell in love with Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia. And as I grew older, the closet I found myself in grew tighter and tighter - but I thought, then, that there wasn’t a scape. My sister and I went through some rough patches in our lives, and our love of fantasy stories kept us strong and very much alive. But the thing is… I wasn’t in those stories. The main characters are straight. The guy falls in love with the girl. End of story. So I would imagine myself inserted in those worlds and I’d be powerful and there would be a girl there for me. Fast forward to 31 yo happily and gayly married me, and I see something about a Willow series and I tell my wife “hey, the movie was really cool! Let’s watch the series” and she’s “yeah, of course”. Then there’s the sparring scene where Jade gives Kit THE LOOK, and we’re both “ooooh gay 👀” but then Kit’s engaged and we’re thinking “oh, false alarm”. And then… The kiss. In the very first episode. Of a Disney series. Of course I got strongly obsessed and followed up the next episodes. And then episode 5 happened. And there they were. Me. In a fantasy show. Saying loudly and proudly what they felt. How they felt. I bursted into tears, years of longing and imagining and wishing. And I was the main character on a Disney show. The support they got from straight characters, the banter, the understanding, the lack of shame… And then the two queer characters take this huge role in protecting Elora, THE most important character. And I’m saved. I am proud. I am healed. And I’m in love with their love and with their story and I wish they could know how I feel, how I imagine so many of us feel. I don’t know what will happen next, whether they’ll renew it or not. But I shall be forever grateful that this show exists.
