Barrel Cactus by Mark Hopkins Via Flickr: Ferocactus cylinderaceus common name is California Barrel Cactus. One of the unique characteristics of this cactus is that it always grows on a south facing slope. Shot with an Olympus 35 LC using Kodak Portra 400. I made a mistake and left the iso at 160 so wasn’t sure how it would come out as I did not change the development time. Looks like it did not have much effect. Used an Arista C-41 kit.

The Hillpointe Chapel in Las Vegas is at the base of Summerlin, thus it's in a nicer part of town, but it's still a bit modest. It's pretty unique because to access the attic for mechanical purposes you need to go up a spiral staircase. Pretty uncommon.

Hillpointe followed the standard design for chapels since 1990 aside from steeper roofs and a Gothic style throughout.

It is a smaller chapel, originally built to serve 2-3 wards, but has since been retrofitted to fit an office for local stake leadership.

Furthermore, it is located in the Redrock Stake, and services as such, but is the second but primary Stake Office for the neighboring Desert Foothills Stake.

Part 2 of my trip to Moab last May. Part of featuring my favorite trips from 2023. This grouping is part of the hundreds of photos I took at Arches National Park, which basically is down the highway from Canyonlands National Park. I advise if you are going there to make reservations well ahead of time. The best time to go to the park is about 7am or after 4pm to avoid crowds. Make sure to get some bug spray for the evenings because there are a lot of Mosquitos there from the river. All that aside, it's an amazing place to visit and I highly recommend it.
