Out of my chest - FengQing ficlet
I'm have snippets I know I'll never write and I need them out of my chest (better I need someone to write them for me).
Anyway, here are some 1700 words some sappy, Modern AU FengQing I daydreamt today and wrote in 2 hours.
You can read the full thing below.
Kintsugi
Mu Qing and Feng Xin were flatmates since their freshman year because none of them could afford a flat alone (Feng Xin because he went into an argument with his parents and refused to speak to them, Mu Qing because he's alone to support himself.)
Despite their recurring arguments, they manage to live together pretty good. They've known each other for years, so Feng Xin has - mostly - learnt to clean after himself and not to get yelled at by Mu Qing, and Mu Qing has learnt to be less of a control freak (Mu Qing finds it much more tolerable once he accepted that FenqXing never irons his clothes despite being good at it - a dad in the military does that to you - and that he will always wait for the sink to be filled before washing the dishes.)
In the beginning, they argued over every single thing. Now they keep a timetable for the chores and they even go once a week grocery shopping together, because it saves money to splits the costs of vegetables and meat. See Xie Lian? They can totally live together peacefully! They still buy the rest of their groceries apart to avoid starting an argument of futilities, like which yoghurt to buy.
(If Feng Xin comes back with Mu Qing's laundry soap because he noticed the other ran low while he went to grab his stupid protein stuff, that's for Mu Qing to ignore and Xie Lian never to know).
In short,  they get along rather well.
But it does grats Mu Qing's nerves that FengQing never seems to hold a job for long (even if he never fails to meet the rent or pay his part of the bills). And Feng Xin?
Feng Xin hates all of Mu Qing's boyfriends.
They have an agreement that their one-night fucks must happen outside the apartment, and lovers can only stay the night once it's serious.
If you ask Feng Xin, he is NOT jealous. It's just that Mu Qing keeps picking that kind of guy, and it's getting on his nerves.
The guys of guys who have master degrees, bring Mu Qing to gallery openings and museum events and fancy cocktails and restaurants. Feng Xin hates how he feels like a jock next to them, wearing mismatching socks and worn-out jeans. He used to be like them, too, when he lived on his parent's money, so Feng Xin knows what kind of crow those guys are.
They always bring Mu Qing to nice places and introduce him to people. And despite how elegant Mu Qing is (because he's drop-dead gorgeous, always dressed smart and fashionable - there is a wave rolling between Feng Xin's bully button and his hips whenever Mu Qing wears his black sleeveless turtleneck and slim, white jeans. Mu Qing always pair it up with a very nice, fancy beige trenchcoat and heeled boots), Mu Qing boyfriends always used him to show off in front of their friends and make themselves look good. Really, weren't they so open-minded, to date that little farmer who made it to the city? Look at them encouraging Mu Qing in his studies, even if they always knew better than him, cultured people as they were?
One day, Feng Xin accidentally breaks one cup of Mu Qing's mom's tea set. When he drops it, Feng Xin stays frozen solid in the kitchen for a good five minutes, nothing but horror showing on his face, until he hastily picks up the pieces and freaks out.
He brings the pieces to Xie Lian's place, hoping Hua Cheng could help - he is an artist and a sculptor, and he's bound to have something that can fix porcelain better than super glue.
"Feng Xin, I'm sure Mu Qing will understand. It was an accident." Xie Lian tries to comfort him
"You don't understand!" Feng Xin yells, distraught. "It was his mom's! It's one of the last things he has from her, and I broke it! Even if I apologise...it's...it's not something I can give back!"
And maybe it's because Feng Xin is so distraught, that he doesn't hear Mu Qing coming in.
(And for once, Hua Cheng didn't create drama on purpose. He was on his way out when he opened the door to find Mu Qing about to ring the bell and let him in.)
Mu Qing says nothing.
He sees the cup. Blanches.
"Did you break the rest?" He asks.
"No, just...just this cup." Even Xie Lian, who has known Feng Xin since early childhood, never heard him speak with such a tiny voice.
Then Mu Qing turns on his heels and strides out of the apartment without a word. He never mentions the cup to FengXin when the man comes back to their shared flat, shoulders slumped.
Then, a few days later, that guy Mu Qing has been dating for a while comest the apartment, as he and Mu Qing sometimes do Saturday afternoons after they brunch, and they argue.
The asshole boyfriend stands up mid-argument, sending the low table rattling - and the whole tea set crashing on the floor.
Feng Xin hears the commotion and only dares to step outside his room once he hears Mu Qing promptly dumping the assholish boyfriend (who, of course, yells horrible things at Mu Qing because, apparently, the guy doesn't understand why Mu Qing act so frigid and gets angry over broken dishes).
Feng Xin finds Mu Qing standing in front of the broken tea set, shoulder trembling.
Then, Mu Qing breaks into sobs.
And Feng Xin's heart breaks, because he knows the sentimental value the set held. How Mu Qing's mom had brought it back from her honeymoon and how she loved the set, taking good care of it and only using it for big occasions or guests. It was her good tea set, and Mu Qing had a hard time salvaging the thing from the 'to sell' part when she died and Mu Qing had to pay the hospital bills.
Later, Feng Xin would be able to name the emotion that made his eyes prickle and his chest breathless, what made him close the distance between him and Mu Qing to embrace his friend tightly against his chest.
"I'm sorry," Feng Xin says. "I'm so sorry we broke it." As if it was both him and the asshat boyfriends who had faulted him together, and maybe they did. After all, Feng Xin had broken the first cup mere days prior. "I know it can't be replaced."
Knowing Mu Qing's heart, behind the facade, was as fragile as his mother's tea set. Knowing Mu Qing secretly cried every time he got dumped, feeling unworthy of the affections of men who only wanted a pretty mask and long legs.
Knowing the man had broken Mu Qing's heart when he had cared so little about destroying the precious family heirloom.
That day, Feng Xin also realizes it's not friendship that makes his heart shatter when he sees Mu Qing cry.
And months later, Mu Qing realizes it too.
The asshole boyfriend circle stops.
Feng Xin doesn't bring Mu Qing to fancy restaurants - not yet. But it's a good motivation for him to finally hold a steady job, to think what he could do with Mu Qing if he gets to work in a good company with a steady wage: weekends away with Mu Qing, holidays with Mu Qing, getting a nicer apartment with Mu Qing.
Then Mu Qing's birthday comes and Mu Qing finds a box on their bed after the guests have left.
It's not wrapped, and Feng Xin looks so nervous that he actually looks sick.
"Shit, maybe I fucked up. I'm not sure, ok? Don't yell at him, I thought it would be a good idea at the time but...wait, it's fragile!"
Mu Qing opens the box despite his boyfriend's protests and finds a tea set.
His lips quiver and Mu Qing feels his eyes blur, because there is no mistaking that pale, jade colour. The teapot even has the crack Mu Qing made when he was eight and bumped the pot against their kitchen counter. Except now, it's filled with gold.
Gold runs along the jade, framing the pieces once broken, as it does for the teacups.
All four of them.
His vision is swimming with tears when he turns toward Feng Xin.
Feng Xin, who upon breaking the cup, felt so guilty that he had looked for any way to fix the pieces, so Mu Qing wouldn't lose his memento.
Feng Xin, who had already found out about kintsugi and resolved to earn enough money to have the cup fixed that way, even before the terrible ex had broken the remaining pieces of the set.
Feng Xin, who had run downstairs at 2 am the night Mu Qing finally resolved to throw away the pieces of the set into the trash, and kept them neatly stacked in a bow until he could have them fixed.
The kiss Feng Xin is fierce and wet from tears shed.
The tea set finds its place in the living room, safely tucked in a glassed-shelved, for everyone to see.
"Mama would have loved you," Mu Qing murmurs one night, gazing at the tea set while a movie plays on the TV.
"I doubt it. She would have been furious I broke her teacup", Fengqing teases.
It makes Mu Qing snort, but he squeezes tenderly Feng Xin's fingers in his.
"You take good care of her son, though. She would have loved you for this."
And Feng Xin hopes so, because just like the tea set...
...Mu Qing's mended heart is a beautiful thing to hold.

MORE HEADCANONS
Gajeel dubbed his children the “Trouble Twins”.
Orsa and Timur sleep with a sleep mask on.
Viktor and Ilyana play video games together (and encourage their parents to join in).
Chimera noted her feelings for Kay before Kay came to the realization of how she felt about Chimera.
Ilyana and Barnard are besties despite not interacting too much; what is awkward silence to others, is comfortable silence with each other.
Ilyana and Tiffany can not stand each other. Tiffany tries to embarrass Ilyana when she can, but fails every time. Ilyana strains a smile when she has to interact with Tiffany.
Nashira and Timur often spar. Sieron watches them from a distance, rooting for Nashira.
Deidre, Chimera, and Ilyana enjoy having sleepovers and talk about their personal lives. It’s a manner of coping and venting about whatever is troubling them.
Laxus is in denial about Ilyana having a crush on Timur, so he often sends Timur away on important missions to keep him away.
Erza worries about her daughter pushing herself too much for the sake of living up to her “Fairy Princess” name. Jellal has similar concerns, but trusts that Kay can come to her senses when necessary, and if not, he will talk and guide her to inner peace.
Natsu loves his daughter to death and has coddled her a bit too much in the past, which led to Lunaria being bratty till she was humbled by Orsa and Chimera (multiple times).
The Redfox twins see Lucy and Juvia like their second mothers, while Pantherlily is seen as their gentle and trustworthy uncle. Jet and Droy are strange, yet kind, family friends.
Milianna has babysat Kay in the past. Kay would be elated whenever Milianna came over to watch over her. Milianna considers Kay dear to her and will protect her no matter the circumstance.
Gaur and Eris are good friends with Viktor, so much so that Viktor shares intel about Fairy Tail without realizing that information should not be shared (and vice versa).
Erik (Cobra) and Kinana love their son, so they show their love through leniency and giving Barnard a lot of freedom, which he doesn’t use much.
Lianne spends her time with her mother at Fairy Tail, but occasionally visits her father in Quarto Cerberus.
Happy tries to be wise with Lunaria, but it is not in his nature, so he ends up encouraging risky behavior.
Timur and Lunaria shared their first kiss with each other (accidental). No one knows about this kiss...yet.
I will come up with more headcanons! Please give me time to think of more OR please share your ideas with me!

I love the friendship between Gajeel and Juvia, even though there's not a lot aboutvit in canon, so... can I please request their bond for your game, please? With 💛🧡💚
Aww this is so wholesome, Anon! Thank you so much!! 🥰 I absolutely love the friendship between Gajeel and Juvia too, and I really wish we got to see more of it in the canon. [A/N: It's actually kind of funny that I got this ask because my sister was just teasing me the other day for somehow managing to cram this friendship into my Fairy Tail fic (even though it wasn't really about that) just because I love them so much 😅 but I digress...] I would be delighted to write some headcanons about them for you, and I really hope you will like these! Thanks again for the ask and for playing my game! 💛
Questions from this "Bye Bye Writer's Block" Ask Game
Gajeel Redfox & Juvia Lockser Friendship Headcanons
💛-- Friendship
A long time ago Juvia made a loaf of banana bread and gave it to Gajeel on a whim, and Gajeel's grateful reaction convinced her that it was one of his favourite foods so to this day she goes out of her way to make it for him on special occasions or just to show that she's thinking of him. In an attempt to thank her once, Gajeel tried to bake his own banana bread for Juvia, but it didn't turn out. However, Juvia was very touched by the thoughtfulness of his gesture and offered to teach him how to make it.
The truth is that Gajeel doesn't really care for banana bread--he was merely grateful that Juvia had made him something and was moved by her kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity. He doesn't ever correct her, however, because he loves how happy she is when she gives it to him and is very thankful to have something they can share together as friends.
🧡-- Childhood/Backstory
Though Gajeel would most likely deny it, he has always felt protective of Juvia in an older brother kind of way and has (albeit secretly) tried to look out for her from their days in Phantom Lord. When Juvia first tried to join Phantom Lord, Gajeel couldn't really understand why someone like her would want to join the Phantom guild in the first place and honestly thought she was stupid a little naive in the beginning. Surprising even himself, however, this really struck a nerve in him, and he decided she deserved to be protected, a duty he took upon himself. Unbeknownst to Juvia, Gajeel really went out of his way to make sure no one else in their dark guild (especially its more rough and unsavory members) messed with her, and this ultimately helped her be accepted by Phantom Lord much more easily and quickly. To this day, Juvia has no idea that Gajeel was secretly looking out for her all this time, a bit like her guardian angel (though he probably wouldn't like that title), and he doesn't plan to tell her. (Panther Lily and Levy have both figured it out, however, and think this big brother side of him is very sweet).
💚-- General
Gajeel has quite the collection of hand-knitted gifts from Juvia. The collection started when one winter, Juvia knitted him a pair of mittens, and even though Gajeel isn't usually the type to wear woolen, winter mittens (he generally gets uncomfortably warm if he bundles up too much), he was genuinely moved by the gesture, especially the time and effort Juvia put into making them for him and kept them in a safe place. Juvia eventually knits a matching scarf and two matching hats, one for Gajeel and one for Panther Lily (with holes cut out for his ears of course). Gajeel keeps all the gifts, but the ones he gets the most use out of are the socks. He wears each pair of socks Juvia knitted for him down until they're tattered, and somehow Juvia always seems to know when his socks are wearing thin because she'll somehow have another pair ready to give him at the perfect time. What Gajeel doesn't know is that Juvia has a whole box of socks she has knitted especially for him for whenever he might need them.

Gajevy Analysis
I'm so glad that I finally have the time to really dive deep into this topic. I have been wanting to do this for so long but never had the time! So I wanted to introduce you all to my deep, DEEP dive of Gajevy. In this essay I will talk about every single moment that features Gajeel and Levy in the manga I might even compare to the anime at certain points. Let me tell you I read the entire manga page by page to find every single Gajevy moment I could, big and small. In this essay we will explore the characteristics and personalities of these two wonderful characters and how they came together to become one of the most loved couples in Fairy Tail. So I hope that y'all enjoy this analysis as much as I enjoyed making it!
I wanna start off with the first half of this pair that we are introduced to in the beginning of the manga and that is Levy Mcgarden. Levy is a 17 year old girl with short but wild blue hair, we learn right away that she is very short for her age, maybe 5 ft 2in or even shorter it's never proven but she brings it up often. She has big brown eyes and her outfit consists of a yellow bikini top covered with a blue vest and khaki like shorts. Overall she's a real cutie, not only that but she is very sweet, loving and kind.
Tumblr media
She is also the leader of her own three person team Shadowgear. We learn more about her as time goes on from little appearances she makes in smaller panels. She's extremely intelligent and reads like there's no tomorrow. She doesn't like violence as she never joins in when her guild members fight, she's more of a tactician and peace maker. But she's quick on her feet and uses her attacks to her advantage when she has to use them. Her magic is awesome and slap yer grandma powerful. However, due to her peaceful and loving nature she tries to avoid using it if possible. She uses a holy type of magic called solid script. Writing runes and words into solid materials such as oil, iron, and stone. I for one think that her magic has so much potential but sadly it's so underutilized in the manga which makes sense considering levy doesn't like to fight but dang give me more please! Levy Mcgarden does indeed start off as a minor character but grows into so much more as the series goes on. We find this out as we reach chapter 47, a chapter that will change her character all together.
We start off on chapter 47 with Natsu, Erza, Gray, Lucy and Happy returning home from their most recent mission. They comment on the guild looking so bizarre from far away but not really realizing exactly what's wrong with the guild until they get up close enough to see. They finally look at their guild hall which is deformed and destroyed by several metal looking beams. The beams protrude out from the building in every direction. Team Natsu travels down to the hall basement to get answers from the master. Who is less than helpful and is even drunk. However in that moment we can see he is upset and is drowning his sorrows in alcohol. We find out that a rival guild named Phantom Lord destroyed their guild hall in the middle of the night while everyone was sleeping peacefully in their homes. That next night everyone pairs up for safety reasons. While everyone is together, trying to remain safe for the night something sinister is happening in town. But before I talk about that I wanna bring up our antagonist of this arc. Gajeel Redfox, shockingly the other half of our favorite couple Gajevy.
We meet Gajeel in his guild hall while he is eating with his back turned away from us. He knocks out a guild mate when they disturb him while he eats, turning so we can finally see what this man looks like. Gajeel is a towering man at least 6 ft tall, his eyes are blood red and he has long spiky jet black hair, he also adorns piercings totaling at about 21 piercings on his face not including the ones on his arms. He has a black Phantom lord emblem on his right shoulder. His fashion choice is a little strange. He wears a black shirt that fits into his iron studded belt. It is way longer in the back making it look like some kind of frayed, torn up cloak. He wears baggy white pants stuffed into black steel toed boots covered in iron studs. Safe to say this man is absolutely terrifying.
Tumblr media
We learn a tiny bit about his personality other than “EVIL.” Gajeel is easily agitated as seen when he is disturbed while hes eating, he loves to fight, maim, and even torture. His magic which we find out later is Iron dragon slayer magic. He is introduced as Natsu's opposite, both being dragon slayers but one that was abandoned but found by Fairy Tail and raised with love and the other being abandoned and left to fight for himself. A perfect representation of nature vs nurture. Gajeel stands with his fist clenched ranting about how Phantom lord is a more powerful guild than Fairy Tail. His master Jose congratulates him on his destruction of the Fairy Tail guild hall. Gajeel goes on to explain that he doesn't think they were hard enough on them so he decided to leave them a little something extra, a present.
During the night while everyone sleeps Gajeel stalks an unassuming Fairy tail team consisting of three people, Jet, Droy and to much of our shock Levy Mcgarden. This is where i'm gonna compare the manga to the anime. First off in the manga we don't see the attack take place we only see a cut straight to the next morning where we find the three mages crucified in a row on the sola tree in the middle of the park high up off the ground. They are beaten and bloody, their clothes are ripped, and Levy is branded with the Phantom Lord emblem on her stomach as a calling card. In the anime Gajeel is standing on the roof of a neighboring building stalking the three Fairy Tail members as they happily stroll along unassuming. Gajeel then leaps from atop a building and makes a direct beeline for Levy Mcgarden. I took a moment to go back and watch that episode recently using my handy dandy pause button to see the moment leading up to what would be one of the darkest moments in all of Fairy Tail. Levy is still turned away from her assailant while Jet and Droy turn around in surprise and fear realizing that they are about to be attacked. Levy on the other hand has yet to notice. You see Jet and Droy reach out for Levy to pull her away but it all happens too fast for them to reach her in time. I hit the play button and pause again quickly to see the two are now out of sight and Levy finally turns around. She looks surprised. From watching this scene I think we are seeing this from Gajeels point of view when he first saw Levy the two make direct eye contact. His red eyes meet her big brown ones and the scene cuts out to black after we get a close up of her left eye wide with surprise and fear. We hear a loud banging noise, the sound of metal coming into contact with a human body. In the anime the three are still strung up on the tree knocked unconscious. This on its own is absolutely soul crushing the fact that these three suffered through an entire night their arms stretched passed farther than they're normally supposed to stretch suspended in the air at least 20 ft off the ground with broken bones and hanging on by a thread makes me feel so sick to my stomach. Fairy Tail is normally a pretty light hearted story so this really blew me away during my first reading of the manga.
Tumblr media
Looking back on all this for this essay I realize Gajeel did this without his master's blessing without anyone else in their guild knowing. He receives praise from his master for doing so and Gajeel looks on laughing and bragging about what he has done. At this point in time Gajeel is still young, maybe 20 or 19 at the most. He wanted to please his master, like a kid who wants their fathers approval. He did this to get the admiration of the guild and master. He wanted to be the biggest baddest guy they had and this in itself really shows his age in my opinion. He has no remorse because no one has ever told him that hurting people isn't right, he's only ever been praised for it. He didn't need to do this. He had attacked the guild like he was told to do. Yet he still felt like he didn't get the reaction he wanted and proceeded to take drastic measures. He wanted to humiliate not only Fairy Tail but humiliate Levy, Jet and Droy and he did just that.
This concludes the first meeting between Gajeel Redfox and Levy Mcgarden. So this begs the question, “how in the hell did these two end up together?” That we can kinda guess and piece together. Especially since Fairy Tail is a shonen we don't get much romance. But I have been able to piece together a hopefully accurate timeline showcasing the long and grueling walk these two had to take to come together in the end.
The Battle of Fairy Tail
We move on to our next arc where we see Gajeel once again yet this time he is a member of Fairy Tail. Brought on by none other than master Makarov. Everyone is rightfully angry, livid at the idea of Gajeel being a part of Fairy Tail so suddenly. Levy hides behind a wall shaking like a leaf, terribly afraid of Gajeel. She tries to reassure everyone that she is ok with him there and that everyone else should be ok with it as well yet she says this while her body shakes. Levy is afraid of Gajeel but as she tries to move on from this trauma she tries to be strong, speaking up in an effort to show she doesn't care that Gajeel is there even though she's not happy about it. Jet and Droy are less than happy when they see Gajeel even telling the dragon slayer to meet them where the attack took place to “talk.” Gajeel does take the time before his mission to meet up with the two men where he sees Levy yet again hiding behind the sola tree trying to shield herself from his view. She tries to talk Jet and Droy down, she explains that she no longer holds a grudge about that anymore. Not only is she in the exact place that night took place but she is also standing feet away from the man who attacked her and her friends. She is expecting Jet and Droy to get hurt, she has seen Gajeels strength. Jet and Droy don't listen, brushing off her words as they move forward to attack Gajeel. Shockingly we see Gajeel fall, getting hit by every attack that Jet and Droy send his way. Levy looks surprised that he is going down, she almost looks confused. Why is Gajeel getting beaten so easily when she's seen him fight? Levy is smart and she slowly figures out what Gajeel is doing before anyone else. When Laxus shows up and continues to beat Gajeel into the dirt she flinches at him being attacked. Even though she is afraid of Gajeel, Levy hates to see anyone be hurt. She watches nervously as he gets beaten covering her face with her hands realizing that the reason Gajeel is going down so easily is because he's trying to show them that he is one of them now, he is trying to gain their acceptance.

In one lightning fast moment Laxus shoots a bolt of electricity straight towards Levy, she shields her face preparing for the impact,…which never comes. She opens her eyes to see Gajeel standing in front of her bleeding and wounded.
Tumblr media
Everyone stands in silence and in shock at how Gajeel protects Levy. Gajeel walks off beaten, wobbling away as the shocked Levy tries to get a word out. We don't know what she is going to say but I think she struggles for the first time in her life to get the right words out because she is so dazed and so confused as to why he saved her. She is so used to the evil Gajeel the fact that she is seeing that there is indeed something good inside him surprises her.
This arc was a great arc for Gajeels redemption; people still don’t trust him at all except for Juvia. Levy still keeps her distance if possible.  After the ladies return from being turned to stone by Evergreen they all talk about how they are going to fight back against Laxus. Levy takes it upon herself to free Natsu and Gajeel from the runes that trap them in the guild hall.
I love this chapter and moment between Gajeel and Levy for two reasons, number one: this is the first time we see Gajeel and Levy have a normal interaction. They're talking as if they've been acquainted for a while and I find this very interesting. Gajeel is amazed at Levy's intelligence, you can literally see the gears in his brain turning as he tries to understand what levy is saying. Of course to him it's a jumbled mess of words and codes but he knows it means something and she's on the right track because they are forming TRUST.
Tumblr media
He is putting his trust into the woman that he has hurt in the past even though he thinks she has every right to hate him. She doesn't have to help him get out of there but he is now a member of Fairy Tail and she really believes that he can help fight for their guild after he jumped in front of a deadly attack to save her life. If he didnt care, he wouldn't have saved her but he did! Number two: Levy is so swept up in her love for puzzles and solving runes that she is comfortable in her environment once again. All the moments we have seen her prior with Gajeel have been with her in fear and uneasiness. But right now in this moment she feels strong and powerful, she's doing something for the good of her guild and is even telling Gajeel straight to his face what she has to do in order to get them out. I also love how dorky they are in this moment like they are so damn awkward around each other I can hardly stomach it, I fucking love that shit.
After Levy finally gets them out of the guild hall Gajeel and Natsu battle Laxus until they are too exhausted to continue, while this is happening Levy is running as fast as she can to stop Laxus and let him know that Makarov is on death's door. When she arrives. She tries to convince Laxus to stop this whole madness and go see his grandfather one last time. Of course Laxus at this point is too far gone to listen and he activates Fairy law which of course doesn't hurt anyone. Gajeel lifts himself and asks Levy if she is ok. I love this part cause he is genuinely concerned for her safety like damn I'm getting all teary-eyed. We then watch Natsu almost die and Gajeel once again risks his life to save Fairy Tail. Levy again looks shocked that he is still putting his life on the line. I feel like this doesn't really cement her trust for him but it definitely gets the gears in her brain turning on how this man really is a member of Fairy Tail even though he still has a long way to go.
Of course, Fairy Tail ends up winning this battle by the skin of their teeth. Gajeel is covered in full body bandages as he watches everyone laugh and talk after the fantasia parade. He looks down over everyone including team shadowgear kinda foreshadowing his involvement in their lives as time goes on. I have no idea if Hiro Mashima meant for Gajeel and Levy to end up together this early in the manga but this tiny little scene of him just staring at her makes me think he had the idea early on. I feel like Gajeel is watching out for her from afar, they haven't built that friendship yet so he isn't comfortable just talking to her or even Jet and Droy for that matter. So he watches them from far away. I also wanna talk about how Gajeel is a double agent at this point of the story. When we all thought this man was for sure going to betray Fairy Tail. He hands the master a note letting him know that he found Ivan and that his job as a double agent is all going according to plan. This is another way of Gajeel trying his best to gain the acceptance of not only the guild but his new master as well. This is a habit of Gajeels, putting himself in danger to prove himself. He has a tremendous amount of guilt for what he did and he does want to make up for it.
This relationship does start off badly, we are all aware of that. Levy is still uneasy and nervous around Gajeel but she is coming around, Gajeel on the other hand is guilty of his wrongdoings and tries to keep his distance but shows Levy through his actions that he is sorry. Many fans of Fairy Tail bring this topic up often “why hasn't Gajeel apologized for what he did?” He may have apologized but we don't know because it is never shown. I honestly think Gajeel is too much of an awkward guy to try and put himself out there to apologize, I mean lets be honest Gajeel is not great with words. So he shows he is sorry by protecting his new family.
S CLASS TRIALS
We slowly make our way to one of the most important arcs of the story involving Gajeel and Levy and that is the S Class Trials. The master explains that he has picked the people for the trial that deserve S class, the people who strive for greatness and are powerful in strength, mind and body. When Levy's name is called she is rightfully excited at first but of course puts herself down. Saying she is not strong enough for the trials and is confused as to why the master chose her. The master didn't choose Levy just because. He has seen her strength, he has seen her work and he knows she is strong and capable. I want to remind you that this trial is not easy to complete. The master picks his candidates based on whether they are strong enough to do so and Levy is of course picked meaning that she can do this. He wouldn't put someone who isn't ready into the trials.
Levy sits on a bench thinking and mulling over why she was chosen while Jet and Droy argue to be her partner. While this is happening Gajeel, who is upset that he wasn't chosen, comes up to Levy offering to be her partner for the trials. Levy explains that she doesn't know why he would even want to help her considering she is too small and weak and that they will probably lose right away. Gajeel rolls his eyes at this, picking her up by the back of her dress with ease. He tells her not to give up before she has even tried and lets loose that infamous line “I’ll make you big.” Levy blushes, at this point Gajeel and levy are still awkwardly tip-toeing around each other but this is one of their first interactions as actual acquaintances. This builds her confidence slightly, a fire growing inside her to win the trials and prove herself not only to her guild but to Gajeel that she is stronger than he thinks.
The two start off the trials with the serenity route which makes Gajeel upset. He wants to fight but levy is relying on her brains for this portion of the trial and a whole lot of luck. They are exact opposites and have no idea how to work together at least not yet. Gajeel complains throughout the whole walk to find Mavis' resting place. Agitating Levy, this girl is an overthinker, as Gajeel complains about not being able to fight, Levy reads this as him not being interested in helping her get S Class but he is in it for himself and this has Levy thinking that when he said he’l make her big he didn't mean it he just wanted to fight. Levy feels insecure about herself once again because Gajeel had made her feel strong but now he makes it seem like he doesn't care. He does care. But like I said earlier Gajeel is not great with words. Levy takes off in anger leaving Gajeel behind. As Levy runs through the island as she thinks about everything that has happened between the two of them, the attack on her team still in the back of her mind, she hasn't fully healed yet and as she desperately tries to move on and put her trust in Gajeel she feels like she can't. She was really coming around to fully trusting Gajeel. She thinks to herself that she thought he was actually a nice guy deep down but he obviously hasn't changed. This upsets her because Levy is a smart woman, she reads people really well. When she saw that Gajeel was beginning to make a change for the better she truly believed that. But this makes her feel like he isn't changing as much as she thought he was.
Tumblr media
Her thoughts are cut short when she is ambushed by two members of Grimoire Heart, they pin her down and prepare to literally slice her in two. Before that happens Gajeel jumps in and saves her life. He says that she is so tiny he had a hard time finding her so to never leave his side again. Levy looks on in surprise, proving everything she was thinking about him wrong. He cares, and he is there to help her, yes he loves to fight but he doesn't hesitate to protect her when she is in need. Levy wipes away her tears and stands to Gajeels back ready to fight with him.
Gajeel and levy give it their all but are ultimately defeated. Gajeel realizes that they are in danger and tells Levy to run and that he will hold Grimoire Heart off while she goes and gets help. Levy is hesitant to leave him there alone. Considering he has protected her many times and she doesn't want to leave her friend behind to possibly die. He screams at her to leave and she does but not after giving him some iron to bring his strength back up. We finally come around to full on trust between these two. Gajeel trusts that Levy will get out and find backup and Levy trusts Gajeel to not die and make it out alive. The Iron with the heart in the middle is our first hint at Levy's feelings for Gajeel. This man has shown her time and time again that he will change and he will put in the effort to make it happen. This event brings the two tremendously close, they are now actually friends.
Tumblr media
This part of the story is huge for Gajeel, Grimiore Heart reminding him of what he used to be. We get a few AMAZING panels of how Gajeel actually joined Fairy Tail. Gajeel is down on his luck living in the ruins of his guild hall, starving, lonely and homeless. Makarov Seeks him out asking if he is interested in joining Fairy Tail. This confuses Gajeel, considering everything he did to Fairy Tail. He tries to give the master reasons why he shouldn't join. He destroyed their guild hall, Makarov replies saying that they can just rebuild it. Gajeel then brings up what he did to team shadow gear and Makarov replies differently this time saying he will NEVER forgive him for that no matter what. But Makarov refuses to allow Gajeel to fall into the darkness. Makarov reaches out his hand saying that he's not trying to save Gajeel but he is just trying to show him the right path, the good path. The newly inspired Gajeel takes the master's hand joining Fairy Tail for good.
This memory gives Gajeel the strength to continue, he has people he wants to protect, the people who gave him a chance, the people who helped him when he needed it the most. Gajeel delivers a final blow sending the members of Grimoire Heart flying. Gajeel passes out from exhaustion. He opens his eyes to Levy by his side in tears, and with backup. This moment is absolutely beautiful because Gajeel looks at her realizing that Levy actually cares for him seeing her tears and worries with his own eyes. She asks him if he is ok, and he smirks at her letting her know that he told her he could beat those guys. Levy smiles at him, her tears falling. Levy is so proud of Gajeel and what he has done not only for her but for their guild. Levy picks him up and drags him to camp, returning the favor after he saved her. These two characters have fully come around, becoming closer than most characters in the manga.
The arc goes on with them arguing, making jokes, and picking little fights with each other, all in good fun of course. Before they are attacked by Acnologia they even hold hands going down together. Their newfound friendship still baffles me because I do feel like it was handled well. They aren't in love or anything just yet, but they really do put all their trust in each other and rely on each other and I LOVE THAT.
Grand Magic Games
This arc is kinda random but we see Gajeel show up in this arc as part of Fairy Tail team B. He's also suddenly wearing headbands……like where did he get that from hmmmm I wonder. It's funny but I definitely think Levy gives Gajeel the headbands to keep his crazy hair out of his face while he fights. It's not proven but Levy is the only one who wears headbands. COINCIDENCE I THINK NOT!
Gajeel fights in the games and Levy is cheering him on the entire time. We don't know this in the beginning but the narrator of this arc is future Levy herself. Let me just say I was so heartbroken when we saw the future Levy all alone in the future scarred up and beaten. She is lonely and hidden away left alone to die. She writes to Lucy who will never receive the letter but she does this as a way to heal. She explains that they lost everyone, even her beloved. We all know who she is talking about here. We don't know what happened but Gajeel died. This is never brought up again and we can only assume that Levy ends up dying alone in the future at some point. After future Lucy is reunited with everyone in Fairy Tail in Heaven we see Gajeels silhouette, we see everyone really except for Levy. God, it kills me, Mashima of course never tells us what happened to her, but I'm certain that she lived and then died later.
Tartaros
This arc is….WILD. We all know why too hehehe. In this arc Gajeel fights against Torafuzar, this fight takes place in an enclosed building that is filled to the top with water, poison water at that. As everyone floats around drowning Gajeel has iron insides so the poison doesn't affect him the way it affects everyone else. He holds his breath as best as he can, fighting for his life, he can feel his lungs begging for oxygen as he gets tossed around in the water, not being able to move as quickly as Torafuzar. We get the scene where he floats down into darkness unable to hold his breath any longer, believing that this is it, he is going to die. He begs for air but sees a small ball of light coming toward him. He tries to shoo the light away saying he needs air not light. The lights grow closer and when he thinks he can no longer hold on. Levy appears as the light he was seeing and she blows her last bit of air into his lungs.
Tumblr media
Gajeel’s eyes open wide in shock. He suddenly has air. He spots Levy, confused, “why is she here and when did she get there?” She floats down into the darkness and he watches in shock and worry. Until he sees Torafuzar make a direct attack on levy, angry that she saved Gajeel. Gajeel jumps in right before Torafuzar is able to hurt Levy holding her close to his body and throwing his fist straight down on Torafuzars head. We have multiple translations of this scene. Gajeel says pretty much the same thing in all “Hands off,” “Don't you touch her” or “out of my way!” I love this scene for so many reasons, Gajeel has no idea what Levy did, only that she saved him when he thought he was a goner. This is the funny thing with these two they both will put their life on the line to save each other. I like to believe that they definitely have feelings for each other at this point. I mean it's hard to deny, considering they both will die for the other like wow!
After Gajeel knocks Torafuzar to the bottom of the poisoned water, Gajeel tries to rouse Levy, shaking her back and forth and screaming at her to hang on and wake up. (Also why the hell can they talk in the water? Are they talking in the water? Or do they talk telepathically? This will forever confuse me but meh.) Levy finally jolts awake at her limit for air. Gajeel screams at her to produce more air for everyone. Levy shakes her head thinking to herself that she has no more air to give and that the only reason she gave him the air was that he was the closest. (sure levy…suuuuuure.) Gajeel grabs her screaming,  “What are you talking about, you're a wizard! Make some air with your magic!” Levy stares in confusion quickly turning to embarrassment when she realizes she didn't have to give Gajeel mouth-to-mouth in the first place she coulda just made it. This is hilarious, it kills me every time. But also People forget that this was an insane situation, Levy was probably low on air and panicking, she saw Gajeel and knew that he could save everyone so she did the first thing that came to mind. She isn't dumb she just couldn't think in a dangerous situation.
Levy uses solid script crafting an air bubble the two burst from the water into the air bubble taking in gulps of air. Gajeel now has enough to fight. Gajeel swims off to take care of Torafuzar leaving Levy to take care of everyone else. “Gajeel thanks Levy for saving his life saying he would have been a goner without her. The fight goes on and Gajeel is grabbed by Torafuzar he struggles to escape but turns to check on Levy. He watches her air bubble blip out of existence and she passes out from taking in too much carbon-laced water. His eyes grow wide as he watches her sink, throwing him into a memory.
This is a side of Gajeel we haven't seen in a long time. Gajeels memory consists of him standing in a room at the magic council, probably being charged with some crime he committed in the name of the Phantom Lord. As Gajeel walks out to leave, an old woman on the Magic Council named Belno follows Gajeel outside. She goes on to beg him to leave Phantom Lord, she says she has seen many young men just like him and every single one was lonely and sad deep down inside. Gajeel scoffs angrily at her for telling him what to do. He blows her off trying to ignore her words. She stops him one last time telling Gajeel that she doesn't need him to be an upstanding citizen but to give his life some meaning. Gajeel grows excited, turning to laugh that his life has plenty of meaning and that he is going to war with Fairy Tail. of course the war with Fairy Tail is a moment that he will regret for the rest of his life. After Gajeel, Levy, Jet, and Droy find Belno dead in her home, Gajeel seems upset as Levy tries to calm him. Gajeel then secretly travels to the roof to cry, heartbroken that Belno was watching out for him and he never gave her the time of day, he cries, saddened by the fact that Belno will never see who he is now and that he has given his life meaning. The meaning of his life being that he will keep his family and his friends safe no matter what.
At the end of this arc, the guild has been destroyed and the master makes the decision to disband Fairy Tail for good. Everyone is heartbroken at this fact and goes their separate ways. Gajeel and Levy however decide to leave together with Pantherlily to join the magic council
Alvarez
This is our final arc in the story of Gajeel and Levy. We meet the two again with Pantherlily as they now work for the magic council custody enforcement unit. Levy returns from a mission where she infiltrated the cult. She explains that mixing in with the believers was super easy but getting out was hard. I love this about Levy, she infiltrated a whole ass cult which of course is crazy dangerous. Levy, Gajeel and Pantherlily talk about Gray and everything with him joining the cult. Gajeel states that they will stop him and that he is no longer their friend. Levy seems saddened by this but agrees nonetheless. Of course, we find out Gray was just doing the same thing Levy was doing and Gray knew it was Levy immediately and that she needed to work on her disguise.
We fast forward to The ladies of Fairy tail in the bathhouse that belongs to blue Pegasus after traveling for a long while. The men sit on the other side of the bathhouse and they all chat through the gate. Gajeel gets thrown out by Elfman hitting Ichiya, and sending Gajeel flying through the gate naked. He lands right on top of a naked Levy. He mentions that he is cushioned but not by much (Which makes me so mad by the way Gajeel totally deserves to be hit after this comment.) She is embarrassed, punching Gajeel calling him a dummy while Gajeel screams out in pain. Gajeel isn't embarrassed about being on top of Levy naked in front of everyone but Levy freaks!
Then we see the infamous blanket scene while everyone relaxes before the battle that they are certain is coming. We see Gajeel lying on his back shirtless staring at the ceiling, his waist covered by a blanket with stars on it. A few panels later we see Levy sleeping as well….with the same fucking star blanket! Like what!!!!! Of course, I believe that they were sleeping together in the same bed. This makes me think that over the past year that these two were in the magic council, their relationship has started to grow into something more than friends. We don't know exactly what happened in that past year but there had to be something. There is no awkwardness between them as they share a sleeping space but they are together. Another thing that supports this theory is that they are both on opposite sides of the bed, Gajeel being on the right side and Levy on the left. Idk maybe I’m crazy but I couldn't believe it when I saw it.
We move on again seeing mavis explain that she fell in love with Zeref and because of her sins all this terrible stuff is happening. Gajeel interjects with my favorite line of his in the entire series. “It's not a sin to fall in love.” Alluding to Gajeels feelings about a certain blue-haired fairy. I feel Gajeel says this because he's been through something not really similar to Mavis but similar in how they feel about falling in love with someone. Mavis is upset about falling in love with Zeref and the bad things that came from it, viewing it as a sin. Gajeel is guilty about falling in love with Levy because of what he did to her when they first met and he feels he doesn't deserve it viewing it as a sin at one point but he is slowly coming around to accepting it. This makes Levy blush because deep down I think she knows what he's talking about.
The next time we see them together Gajeel and Levy can't sleep before meeting up with Sabertooth. Gajeel sits crouched on the ledge of a mountain where Levy asks him if he's having trouble sleeping. He tells her that obviously, she's having trouble sleeping as well. She explains it’s because she is scared of the fight that's to come and she's worried that it will be the end for all of them. She says she isn't as strong as everyone else and she's afraid to die. Gajeel then blocks her in with a bunch of iron pillars before getting in front of her and leaning on one of them to talk to her. He tells her she is under arrest for doubting herself, she apologizes and Gajeel tells her that he promises that since she's under arrest he will throw her in the guild hall cell when they get back home. Levy smiles and nods. He isn't really talking about arresting her here. He's upset with her for doubting herself, yes but what he's really saying is that everything will be ok. They are going to make it home alive and together. I love this scene because they both understand each other without being direct with one another and I think that shows just how much they have grown together in the past year.
The next part is…dark. We see Sabertooth never made it to the rendezvous point due to them being attacked and crucified. This shocks Gajeel and Levy; they are horrified. Levy knowing how terrible it feels to be crucified and Gajeel knowing what it feels like to crucify someone. They fight saving Sabertooth, until Gajeel gets his hands on Bloodman, the monster that crucified Sabertooth. Gajeel pins him against a tree asking him “do you have any idea how it feels to be crucified?” Gajeel is angry because Bloodman has forced Gajeel to relive the worst memory of his life. Crucifying team shadowgear, specifically crucifying the woman he now loves. Gajeel tells Boodman he's glad he gets to fight him and even if he dies that it's ok because he's been looking for a spot to be his final resting place. Levy gives him a sad look as he says this, heartbroken first off that Gajeel has to relive this terrible moment in his life and saddened by the fact that he says he doesn't mind dying. Gajeel fights with everything he has telling everyone to get away because the Bloodman is emitting magic barrier particles, a poison that means death for whoever comes in contact with it. Gajeel falls and as Bloodman prepares to attack him Levy jumps in front of him using her solid script shine. Bloodman is reeled back surprised, referring to Levy's magic at holy.
Gajeel screams at Levy to get out of there but Levy turns revealing her makeshift mask. Stating that the poison can't get into her if she wears it. Gajeel believes her, Levy then scolds Gajeel saying that he shouldn't be talking the way he was about wanting to die. Gajeel tries to explain that he didn't mean it but Levy doesn't agree. She states that his life is important to her and she wants him to keep on living.
The fight proceeds with Gajeel and Levy working together to defeat Bloodman. They almost drown once again after Bloodman tries to use a tartaros curse on them. Levy uses Solid Script Hole to drain all the poison water into the ground while Gajeel attacks. Gajeel and Levy work great together, I think back to the S Class trials when they had no idea how to work together but now they've been doing it for so long it's like second nature to them. Levy and Gajeel are then swept away by a sea of corpses. Gajeel wades as fast as he can through the corpses to pull Levy out with him. Both mages fall to the ground in exhaustion. Both are badly injured as they try to pick themselves up but Levy is having a hard time doing so. She collapses again and begins to cough up blood and poison. Gajeel panics, screaming that she needs to get her mask back on now. Then Levy confesses that the mask never worked in the first place. So this entire time she has been allowing the magic barrier particles to be absorbed through her skin filling her body with the poison. I wanna say that Bloodman literally didn't even touch the other people who died when they were fighting. Levy literally swam in the poison and inhaled the poison yet she is still alive…what a bad bitch. Gajeel freaks out at her rightfully so asking why in the hell she would even go there. And Levy replies weakly that all she wanted to do was save him. She then passes out. Gajeel screams her name in worry before telling her to hang on, and that he will handle Bloodman. Gajeel gets knocked around like a rag doll but continues to pursue Bloodman like there's no tomorrow desperate to win and desperate to save Levy. Gajeel thinks to himself about how he's always felt like the weakest of the Dragon Slayers and how he's always felt that he's fallen behind. At the time, beating Natsu and being the strongest is what he cared about the most. But now all he cares about is protecting Levy, the woman he fell in love with.
Gajeel screams out that he will get Levy back home safe no matter what, keeping the promise he made to her a few chapters back when they were talking on the ledge of the mountain. After Bloodman disappears Gajeel turns to Levy with a smile on his face, and he says her name. But before he can go to her Gajeel is grabbed by Bloodman who is turning into this kinda hell portal thing that turns people completely into magic barrier particles. Gajeel squirms and struggles to break free realizing that the portal is pulling him inside.
We reach the only chapter of Fairy Tail that has actually made me cry. Levy watches as Gajeel gets sucked into the portal; she uses all her strength to stand spitting up blood as she does so. Running to Gajeel to save him. Gajeel screams at her to stay away from him that if she touches him she too will die. He says that he can feel his body turning into a mass of magic barrier particles and it's too late to save him. Levy shakes this off saying she doesn't care what happens to her and that she WILL save him. Gajeel pins Levy to a rock in the same crucifixion style that both of them hate. Levy yells at him asking him what he thinks he's doing. Gajeel looks down ashamed that he is doing this to her once again saying that she left him with no other choice.
Tumblr media
Levy because she is such a freaking badass uses her foot to write the word sword cutting her free from her restraints Gajeel begs her to please stop but before she can reach Gajeel something stops her and holds her back. Lily. Gajeel gives a smile of relief as Lily holds Levy back from going any further. Levy fights to get out of Lily's grip begging him to let her go so she can save Gajeel screaming that if she doesn't do something Gajeel is going to die. She begins to cry in frustration and sadness. Until Gajeel says her name. He tells her that he used to be such a horrible person, but then he met her. She was able to bring out all the best parts of him. Parts of him he didn't even know he had. “You taught me what it means to love..and for that I will be eternally grateful.” Levy is crying so hard at this point realizing that Gajeel is going to die. Gajeel smiles at her his own tears forming in the corners of his eyes. He says that falling in love with her made him think about things he never thought he would think about. A future with her, a family with her, and just all around being happy with her. We get a few shots that I absolutely love. Gajeel laying in the grass with Levy laying on his chest, now I don't know if this is a memory of them taking a nap together or just him imagining what it would be like. But I like to think that this is a memory. A shot of Gajeel and Levy with their children, and a shot of levy giving him a smile.
Tumblr media
Gajeel begins to let his tears fall as he's further sucked into the portal. He says “I really did want us to be together forever..and having that future snatched away from me is the most terrifying thing I've ever had to endure.” Levy screams for him begging him to stay with her but at this point, Gajeel's face is the only thing that can be seen in the portal. Gajeel tells Lily to get Levy back home and makes him promise that he will do so. Then in a blip, Gajeel is gone. Levy screams out his name crying for him with Lily. This was the most heartbreaking moment. The two people that loved Gajeel more than anything crying over his death. They hold each other sobbing. Gajeel never thought he would ever be loved by anyone. Lily and Levy truly changed that for him. They were his family, the people that he trusted more than anyone in all of Fairy Tail.
Of course, we find out Gajeel is ALIVE! I held my breath man I was like there ain't no way this man is dead and we were all right. Gajeel thinks about how he supposedly died and blushes because he realizes that he totally confessed his undying love. Levy finds out he is alive and is so happy when she sees him again she gives him a big ole kiss….just kidding she dropkicks him in the face. He falls back and she straddles him crying telling him that he needs to keep his promise of taking her back to the guild, Gajeel smiles and nods. After a big fight with Acnologia everyone comes together again happy that they won. We get a tiny little shot of Gajeel holding Levy and Lily close. Levy cries tears of joy and Jet and Droy stand in the back cheering at the fact that they all finally won.
We end the Fairy Tail manga with Levy coming up to Gajeel through the narration of Lucy. It is a year later at this point and Lucy explains how Gajeel and Levy have grown even closer over the last year (meaning they're dating.) Levy whispers in Gajeel's ear something secretive and Gajeel gasps in shock blushing profusely. Lucy then begins to blush confused thinking she just heard Levy say the word baby. Wendy however knows as she is steaming in embarrassment. This of course confirms that Levy and Gajeel are indeed going to have a baby. Y'all know what that means. Y’all know where babies come from hehehehe. They even end up leaving the party, Lily goes to Jet and Droy asking if either of them has seen Levy and Gajeel. Jet and Droy yell at Lily not to ask them and to think about their feelings. Where did Gajeel and Levy go? Maybe they went to “celebrate?”
The Fight
Now I wanna talk about their meeting. Gajeel used to be a terrible person and what he did to Levy, Jet, and Droy was completely inexcusable. It was not ok but it was integral to his development. Gajeel doesn't do an immediate 180 and Levy does not fall in love with him right away. Levy doesn't forgive right away either. He doesn't join Fairy tail and she immediately accepts it. Levy is terrified of Gajeel still she is actively hiding away from him in multiple panels. When Jet and Droy go to fight Gajeel Levy follows quietly; she doesn't say a word until Gajeel shows up. The only reason she tries to stop Jet and Droy in the first place is that she is afraid that they'll get hurt. She also, like I said before, hates violence it seems to me she honestly wants to move on and ignore Gajeel if she can. We have no idea what kind of fight they had that night of the attack and I don't think we will ever know. But I think it's important that we don't know. This moment is something that only Jet, Droy, Gajeel and Levy know and it stays that way because it's dark, and it's not easy to talk about. One thing that I hate seeing is the whole disgust with Levy falling for a man who hurt her. Now let me explain myself and why I think that is wrong! Levy is not a victim, Levy is a strong and capable wizard. Levy is a member of Fairy Tail even though she hates fighting and she tries to avoid it, she will fight if she has to. Don't forget that Levy is also the leader of her own fighting team, Levy's job is to be a fighter. Gajeel didn't just beat up a girl, he fought another mage. I believe 100% that Shadowgear fought him with everything they had, they just were on the losing end of the fight. Yes, sneaking up on Shadowgear was a shitty thing to do but they are enemies of course they're gonna fight.
Levy's clothes
After the Phantom lord arc, we see Levy again and she looks slightly different from when we last saw her. A few paragraphs above I really went into detail on how Levy dresses. Her outfits in Fairy Tail really tell us a lot. That being how she is feeling and her mental state. Levy is still very happy and sweet per the usual greeting Lucy as she returns from her mission. Levy is now dressed in a turtle-neck orange dress that reaches the middle of her thigh. Underneath she has another layer, long sleeves adorn her arms leaving her shoulders bare and long black leggings…in the summer. Why is she dressed this way? I believe this is far from just a fashion statement. This particular outfit covers not all but most of her skin. The only remaining skin is her face, shoulders, and hands. Levy is covering herself as a way to hide. After what happened with Gajeel she feels embarrassed, nervous, and maybe even exposed after having a dark guild emblem forced upon her bare stomach. Being covered is her way of protecting herself. At this time even though she may not say it, the attack on her team really did a number on her, and most importantly her confidence, the horrible event is still fresh in her mind. Early Levy is a fairly confident woman, she is a leader and she is very capable. Not being able to protect her team or herself really knocks Levy down and now she's struggling to believe in herself and believe in her confidence.
She ends up changing her outfit again in the S class trials. Now more comfortable around Gajeel. She also has more confidence after Gajeel told her he'd make her big. She exchanges her orange turtle neck for a short orange dress that bares her legs and shoulders.
Levy is slowly growing, her trauma falling behind her.
The last outfit everyone loves including me is of course the white crop top with the word iron on it, the gray skirt and black leggings. This is her “I love Gajeel” outfit I swear to god. Levy is now complete again and she is stronger than ever before and I love that about her. She really did grow in so many ways…not in her height but in everything else hahaha.
Forgiveness
A common theme in Gajeel and Levy's relationship is the theme of forgiveness. Levy does not forgive Gajeel right away and Gajeel takes FOREVER to forgive himself. Gajeel and Levy don't talk about their first meeting which I understand. It's a sore subject. Gajeel however is a man of action. He shows that he will do anything for team Shadowgear and the guilds forgiveness. Protecting Levy is his way of apologizing. The man would take a bullet for this woman I kid you not. In the beginning it was a way of apologizing but now it's because she is his family and he loves her. Instead of being on his knees begging for forgiveness he gives Levy reasons to believe in him and to forgive him. Which is something that Levy needs. I don’t feel like she is one for taking apologies and just forgiving a person. I do think she wants to be shown that the person doing the apologizing is actually sincere.
After a year of all this Levy finally gives Gajeel a shot by letting him help her with the S class trials. That scene with her running away from him after they argue on Tenrou Island isn’t just her being overly dramatic. This scene is important to Levy's development because she is fighting to forgive. Levy does want to let it go and trust Gajeel but to do that she needs to see it and believe it. The whole reason she runs away is that she thinks Gajeel hasn't changed when she was certain he had. He just doesn't know how to talk right that big ole dummy. Only after he saves her life again and they almost die together after Acnologia tries to kill them all does she truly and fully forgive him.
It was a long road but Levy got there, Gajeel on the other hand has the hardest time forgiving himself. In stories like this, we always talk about the person who needs to do the forgiving, never the person who is searching for that forgiveness. Gajeel is a deeply emotional person. I know it might not look like it but he truly is. Gajeel was thrown into this life with nothing but the clothes on his back. This made him very tough and emotionally distant from everyone else but also himself. When he starts to try to earn Fairy Tails’ forgiveness he learns to express his feelings more. Jumping on stage to sing with passion, or crying when he finally gets to have PantherLily as his cat and partner, or being heartbroken about Makarovs sacrifice when he saves them from Acnalogia. This man is learning and thriving, however, there’s one thing that he just cannot get over and that is Levy. We kinda start to see a crush blooming between the two of them. Of course, Levy is good at showing it even though she really tries to hide it. But Gajeel on the other hand is quite different, Gajeel is comfortable around Levy, they are always seen together, and they train together. To the unknowing eye it may look like just pure friendship. He enjoys spending his time with her. We all know Gajeel prefers to be alone or with Lily, Levy is the only person that he hangs out with outside of the guild. But he is hesitant to show that he likes Levy more than a friend but goes out of his way to be with her on multiple occasions.
When we reach the Alvarez arc he is flirting with her and picking on her. But he still doesn’t confess until he realizes he’s going to die. Gajeel explains how horrible of a person he used to be and Levy is the one who made him want to change. In that moment all the guilt and hurt that Gajeel has held onto all these years falls away as Levy cries for him. He feels like he doesn’t deserve her after what he did. Instead of telling Gajeel that she loves him she cries for him and begs him to stay with her and I think that shows Gajeel what she means by that. Gajeel was certain that no one would ever love him the way Levy does. I feel like another reason Gajeel was so emotional and heartbroken about losing his future with her is that he waited so long to forgive himself..too long. By the time he was ready to confess he was dying and it was too late.
The path to forgiveness really is a righteous one, Levy forgave him, but not as quickly as everyone says she did. They worked together, they picked each other up constantly, and in the end, they both saved each other. Gajeel saves Levy from her fear of being weak, something that he caused by attacking her in the beginning. He picked her up and put her back together over years of working at it. Gajeel made Levy feel strong once again. Levy then fell in love with him. Levy saves Gajeel by believing in him, believing that he can change and that deep down he is a good person. She pushed him in ways no one else ever could. She pushed him to grow and become better. And in the end, Gajeel fell in love with her for it.
How did they become who they are?
Sometimes I really look at how far Gajeel has come as a character and who he is as a person. Gajeel like I mentioned above is deeply emotional, he has hardened his heart over the years from being abandoned. The day that Metalicana “left” Gajeel was the day that made him decide he wouldn’t trust anyone ever again. It’s so sad to think about him as a kid wandering for days looking for his father only to come up with nothing. This leaves him homeless and desperate for help from anyone who will give it to him. And that is where I’m thinking Jose entered his life. Giving Gajeel food, a roof over his head, and a life in general. Jose used Gajeels vulnerability to his advantage, Gajeel being a child at the time or maybe even a young teen when he was recruited into Phantom Lord.  So Gajeel learned things all wrong, Jose drilled into him that he had to be the best and to do that he needed to hurt people to get what he wanted. Gajeel was tricked into thinking that Jose, his master, was a father figure and what does Gajeel do? He strives to please him, to show him that he is the best, that he can handle the harder jobs that Jose has to throw at him. While Gajeel sees this as Jose being kind to him, Jose sees Gajeel as a puppet or a pawn nothing more. So when Phantom Lord is disbanded
Gajeel is so lost, he knows nothing else but Phantom Lord so he once again falls into this depressive darkness. If Makarov had never gone to Gajeel that day, I don't think he would have ever joined Fairy Tail, or let alone see levy again. This huge difference between Jose and Levy is crazy because Levy on the other hand believed in Gajeel in a different way, encouraging him to fight and be the best but for good and good only. He struggles to put his trust in her but when he does he grows in all the best ways possible because this is the first time someone has worked to build him up not tear him down.
We have no idea who Levy used to be before she joined Fairy Tail. Something that I will always wonder is what happened to Levy's parents for her to end up in Fairy Tail? The majority of the children in Fairy Tail have been through some pretty unimaginable things, things that no child should have to go through. There are a few panels and one cover page that show Levy as a little girl in Fairy Tail. She is very, very young in these panels and when we see her she is never smiling. She's frowning or looks sad or uncomfortable, I don't know, maybe I'm crazy but where on earth did this girl come from? It is mentioned in one scene while little Levy plays some kind of version of chess with Cana that she was younger than Cana. I have a theory as to why levy's backstory was never introduced. I think Levy was very young when her parents disappeared or died making her an orphan. She honestly could have been an orphan from the very beginning but we just don't know. Levy integrated into Fairy Tail at such a young age I don't think she even thinks about her real parents. She sees Fairy Tail as her only family. She grew up there and that's why she is the way she is, kind, loving and strong-minded, she learned from tons of good-hearted Fairy Tail mages, so it would make sense that her characteristics and qualities all derive from the people who raised her.
Two Mages and a baby
Gajeel and Levy are seen again and their story continues through the Fairy Tail 100 year quest. Gajeel and Levy are boyfriend and girlfriend now which is so weird to me. I mean I love it but it's just so crazy that it feels surreal. This story is set a little bit after the end of Fairy Tail and Gajeel and Levy are expecting their first child. Gajeel and Levy bicker like an old married couple but they also constantly flirt with each other like teenagers. Levy's unwavering trustful side comes out when they discuss Touka, Gajeel not trusting her stating that she's off for some reason he doesn't know why but he knows something's up. Levy combats this saying that they shouldn't be stalking her and that she is a Fairy Tail mage so why shouldn't they trust her. Gajeel goes on to say that everyone treated him badly when he joined. Levy scoffs, stating that it was because he used to be horrible. They get all up in each other’s faces and Lily tries to cool them down, they both turn telling him to shut up. Levy then stomps off angry, Juvia asks Gajeel if he's sure that fighting with levy was ok. Gajeel turns to state that if Touka is actually evil then she'd be putting levy in danger and he refuses to let that happen.
It's not fully confirmed at this moment that Levy is pregnant. However, it is finally fully confirmed as Levy walks down the street after catching Gajeel and Juvia still stalking Touka. Gajeel lands on top of Juvia in a very suspicious-looking position on the middle of the sidewalk. Levy looks down at them and Gajeel tries to explain himself. Levy just says “carry on,” and walks away while Gjaeel screams for her to wait. Levy is not jealous in this scene. Levy is just agitated that they still aren't listening to what she had to say when she told them that stalking Touka wasn't a good idea. No she doesn't think Gajeel is cheating bahahaha. She holds her stomach and a little light pools inside, showing Levy's pregnancy.
Gajeel is very protective of Levy that even when his mind was being controlled by Touka and Levy was fighting Natsu, Gajeel begged Natsu to not fight her afraid. Before Natsu punches Levy in the stomach, he stops mis-swing remembering that she's pregnant. We get a little flashback of Levy telling Lucy, Natsu, and wendy that she is expecting. Natsu asks her if the baby is his and Levy gets flustered screaming at him saying “there's no way in hell that it could be his.” Natsu is not that dumb seriously hahahaha I will never understand why he thinks this way.
Tumblr media
Natsu is completely frozen in his place, giving Levy the moment to strike, sending him away on a carriage. Gajeel gets upset with Levy saying that what she did was really risky. He then begins to sulk after being beaten by Natsu again. Levy smiles saying that she doesn't care that he lost, holding his hand, she goes on to say that no matter what she will always think Gajeel is the best. We get another scene later on of Gajeel switching bodies with Levy while Sai uses his alchemy love bond which turns people into the person they love. Gajeel gets angry allowing God Serena to get away saying that this body is way too important right now and that if Sai even tries to put a scratch on it he'll smash him to pieces.
Gajeel shows his affection for Levy constantly in this spin off and I absolutely love it. While Gajeel fights God Serena we get a scary panel of Gajeel being beaten when God Serena asks him if he has any last words, Gajeel looks on in anger and worry. We then see Gajeel slumped against the wall beaten and bloody. God Serena then replies “Oh? A woman's name? Too bad she will never see you again.”  Gajeel was so worried about leaving Levy alone and I think that's why he said her name, maybe even wanting to hear himself say her name one last time IDK but I was all sad.  I think this is an eye-opener for him because when he returns to the guild Levy scolds him for disappearing and that she was worried sick and that he is going to be a dad now so he needs to be close. Gajeel smirks, wrapping his arm around her stating that she's going to be a mom too. They walk off together. I assume Gajeel might be done with doing dangerous things at least for a while so that he can be with Levy and the baby. Gajeel is super excited for the baby, we even get a cover page of him making a baby crib while smiling, and Levy stands behind him smiling as well. Overall I think they are gonna be great parents. They're all grown up now and it literally brings a tear to my eye. We got a little spin off story of Gajeel laying on the ground in his house in his underwear exhausted because he is pushing himself so hard to make more money to support Levy and the baby. Levy comes home to a huge mess and starts to clean but notices Gajeels scars stating that he has so many and there are even more than before. We see a memory of Gajeel explaining that he will be ok and he just wants to make as much money as possible so he can support them. Levy smiles at the memory and lies down on the floor with Gajeel resting her head on his chest. It's absolutely beautiful and Gajeel doesn't even stir awake. He's so used to Levy's presence that he doesn't care; he knows it's her sleeping on him and he just lets her come in for a cuddle. So damn cute!
I feel so lucky that we get to see Gajeel and Levy’s actual romantic relationship, them getting ready to become parents, their flirting and being in love is just so beautiful! I do wonder if they will get married though, or if we will actually get something showing their engagement or even wedding! I cannot wait for this baby to be born or if its actually going to be twins like we all suspect.
Conclusion
Gajeel and Levy are one of my favorite couples of all time. I'm so happy that I saw these two characters grow together in more ways than one. Seeing where the two of them are now is so fulfilling, being able to watch Gajeel change his ways and being able to watch Levy grow in strength was more than I could have ever asked for. The two of them deserve all the happiness coming their way after working hard for each other for so long. It definitely is a rollercoaster of a ride but it was all worth it in the end. Gajeel is one of the best once a villain and now a hero character i've ever seen. Levy really did bring out the best in him. Now we can't have one without the other. It's no longer just Gajeel or just Levy it's now Gajeel and Levy. Thank y'all so much for taking the time to read this. I hope you all enjoyed reading the entire timeline of how these two ended up together and how they lived, learned and loved.

Chasing Tails

by Claradare
It’s been almost 12 years since 17-year-old Layla was found living alone on the streets and put in foster care, and she likes to think she’s done a pretty good job of forgetting the past. She doesn’t remember her birth family, the name “Nashi Dragneel,” or where she heard the absurd stories she told the police who found her. Stories about Wizard Guilds, flying cats, and–-most cringey of all–-her self-proclaimed status as a “Dragon Slayer.”
But the past becomes pretty impossible to ignore when it confronts her in the form of some middle-aged, pink-haired stalker who won’t stop calling her the ridiculous name she’d nearly forgotten and trying to convince her to come back to “Fairy Tale.”
Oh, and claiming to be her dad.
Like she doesn’t have enough problems! The last thing she needs is some delusional freak following around. Especially one who’s starting to make her want to take his hand…
Yep, this is a Second Gen fic. The idea took root and would not let go. I’ll warn you ahead of time that the premise is somewhat dark. That said, I’m the kind of writer who likes (and tries to write) stories with sad beginnings, hopeful middles, and triumphant ends.
I do not own "Fairy Tail", only this plotline.

hiii i am absolutely obsessed with ur drabbles could u please do nalu #4 and #39 pls🥺
“Walk out that door and we’re through” + “Please come home, I miss you”
This was tough cause the questions could trigger a story similar to this one I also did for these prompt asks round. But I think I can make it different enough, albeit angst hell 😅 here we go! It’s a little rushed but longer then I expected for a ficlet lol
“Lucy,” Natsu knocked at the office door, “it’s time to go.”
“Where?” She answered without looking up.
“Levy’s birthday party.”
“Oh!” Lucy sat up in her desk chair and turned her body to face her husband. “Right! I forgot. Um, shucks, but I’m on a writing high right now and I can’t stop— tell her I’ll make it up to her, will ya?”
She always says that… Natsu sighed, “yeah, sure…”
Levy Redfox was Lucy’s childhood best friend and while the woman was also his friend, it just didn’t sit well with Natsu that she’d choose writing over the woman. But this had been an ongoing issue lately... Don’t get him wrong, he fully supported his wife’s career as an author, especially now that it’s really starting to take off. The issue was it had consumed her at the expense of everyone around her.
He knocked on their friends door, answered by Levy herself.
“Natsu!” Levy hugged the man excitedly, but when she noticed he was alone, frowned a tad. “Again, huh?”
“I’m sorry, Levy,” Natsu’s shoulders slumped. “Lucy’s in a,” he made quotation marks in the air, “‘writing high,’ and said she’ll make it up to you.”
“Well, I’m glad you came,” the woman smiled despite the sadness hiding behind her eyes.
All of their closest friends were in attendance and spent the evening talking, eating, and playing a few fun birthday games. It distracted him to some extent, but as the night wore down and the other guests had all left, Natsu, his best friend Gray Fullbuster, Levy, and her husband Gajeel sat around in the living room talking about the elephant in the room. Lucy.
“I’ve tried talking to her,” Levy said quietly, “but, I try not to make it sound too harsh.”
“Maybe that’s exactly what you need to do babe,” Gajeel chimed in. “Be blunt.”
“Yeah, I’m like you,” Natsu agreed with Levy. “It’s not easy to bring it up cause she’s oblivious about it.”
“But it’s hurting your marriage man!” Gray looked at Natsu. “And your friendship,” he switched to Levy. “I’m with Gajeel. If you aren’t honest with her, it’s not gonna get better.”
“Think I don’t know that?!” Natsu spat back. “Think I enjoy being the only one in that house in pain?! I don’t, but—” his voice cracked, “I’m worried I’ll push her away if I say something.”
“She’s already pushing you away dude. Do you still love her?”
“Of course, I do,” Natsu sighed. “I love her more than anything, but apparently it’s not enough… we haven’t even… you know, I can’t remember the last time.”
“Wow… Then you really gotta tell her. All of it,” Gray coaxed.
Levy who’d sat quietly through the back and forth, chimed in quietly. “Gray’s right. You should tell her, when you go home, just tell her how you’re feeling. And whatever happens, happens. We can just hope for the best.”
“You know you’ll be the first to hear from her if I do,” Natsu pointed out.
“I know. But… it’s time I come clean too.”
Natsu slumped back onto the couch and let out a depressed exhale. “And you,” he looked to Gray. “You know if it goes wrong I’ll be showing up at your door.”
“My couch has your name on it.”
“Gee, thanks.”
That had to be the longest drive home Natsu had ever taken, even though it was really just 10 minutes. He was a physical person by nature and never been very good at expressing his feelings in words. Words were his wife’s domain. There were a lot of things he wanted to say, but his biggest fear was saying things wrong. With his hand on the doorknob, Natsu took one last breath and opened the door to her office. He knew before entering, Lucy was still working by the clacks of the keyboard and interrupting would immediately cause friction. But he couldn’t wait anymore.
“I’m home,” Natsu called out… with no response. He sighed and spoke more sternly. “Lucy. I’m home.”
“Oh, welcome home,” she finally responded. “How was the party?”
He knew it was an empty question, because she never even looked up or stopped typing and it meant she wasn’t really listening. “Lucy… we need to talk.”
“I’m kinda busy Natsu.”
“I know, but you’re always busy Lucy. That’s part of the problem.” The moment the last word came out, Natsu knew instantly he’d picked the wrong one. Crap.
Lucy stopped typing, turned off the screen and shut the laptop. “Problem?” She turned the chair around with her eyes narrowed in a focused glare. “What do you mean, problem?”
“Lucy,” he ran a hand down his face, “I don’t want to fight, but we need to talk— there’s a lot we need to talk about.”
“Like what?” She crossed her arms. “What is so important that you need to mess with my job?”
There it was.
“I’m not trying to do that,” he sighed. “You know how proud I am of your career. But, it feels as if you’re choosing your career over everything else in your life. Me, your friends, we’re all just being pushed aside—”
“Are you kidding me?!” Lucy shot out of her chair shaking in anger. “I am not doing any of that! I’m not pushing anyone away! Y-You’re the one who’s acting selfish trying to tell me I’m not giving you enough attention! And don’t you bring Levy into this! If this was bothering her she’d tell me!”
“It does bother her! But she’s afraid of getting,” he gestured with his hands up and down at Lucy, “this reaction! Is it selfish to want to spend some time with my own wife?!” Natsu growled. “We never spend time together anymore! You’re just always hunched over that damn computer!”
“I’m doing my job!” Lucy shrieked. “I have deadlines to meet! This story ain’t gonna write itself! Research ain’t gonna materialize on its own! It’s a lot of work!”
“Lucy,” Natsu pinched his brows together, trying hard to stop from snapping further as well as to control the tears building in his eyes. “I love you, more than anything in this world, but I don’t know what happened to the woman I’d married. The old Lucy wouldn’t abandon her loved ones like this.”
“You’re just mad because I’m successful now.”
“That’s bullshit! And you know it! No job is worth losing the people you care about, and if you can’t understand that, then, I don’t know what else to say!”
“Then I guess there isn’t anything more to say,” she spat back.
“I guess not.” Natsu answered softly, turned and left the room.
He’d already assumed confronting Lucy about her precious career would not end well, and he was right. Staying would only cause more trouble. So, he quietly packed a suitcase to go to Gray’s house, making sure to bring anything he’d need because he had no idea how long he’d stay there. He’d said his peace; it really was all in Lucy’s hands now.
Back in her office, Lucy dropped back down into her chair as the full weight of what just transpired hit her like a ton of bricks. She cradled her face in her hands as the anger that had fueled her response suddenly mixed with sadness. Tears flowed free. Did that really just happen?! She could hear Natsu moving around in the bedroom, the opening of drawers, the closet, the zipping sound of the suitcase, each and every step driving a knife deeper and deeper. How dare he tell her to stop writing! This was her dream! Her livelihood! Why couldn’t he just support her instead of acting like a child who wasn’t getting attention!
When she heard Natsu walking towards the front door area, Lucy raced out of the room to confront him one last time.
“Walk out that door and we’re through!” She screamed. “Do you hear me? We’re through!”
Natsu ignored her words knowing it was the anger talking… hoping it was just the emotions fueling her rage. “I’ll be at Gray’s,” he simply responded with a hint of sadness in his tone. “You should really think long and hard about this Lucy, because if not, you’ll lose a lot more than you realize.” And with that, he closed the front door behind him.
Lucy crumpled to the ground and wailed— raged, banging the floor with her fists as the sobbing overtook her. She truly could not understand what brought this on. Hadn’t she been a good wife?! Faithful! Hard working! What more did he want?! All she was doing was trying to make it in the cut-throat world of publishing. Does he not understand how hard it is to make it in that world?! She pulled her phone from her pocket and started to dial Levy’s phone number. But just as she got to the last two numbers, she stopped. It was already 1 am, and it would be rude to wake her friend up. Lucy sniffled and hung her head in shame before dragging herself back towards the bedroom. She’ll just call in the morning.
When Levy answered the phone, Lucy was slightly taken aback by the response. Not a hello, just a, ‘I wondered when you’d call.’ Evidently the woman was expecting it, but she was too tired to let it add to her problems. She hadn’t slept much after Natsu left— no surprise. She was still angry, but also confused, sad, and just mentally drained of life. Her friend agreed to come over in a bit, so Lucy dragged herself into the shower hoping it would make her feel better.
“Wow, you don’t look good,” Levy remarked at her friend.
“Hi to you too,” Lucy mumbled as she moved to the side to let her friend in. “Who would after a fight?”
Once settled on the couch, Levy went straight to the point before Lucy could even begin. “I already know what this is about. I know Natsu’s side, so start with yours.”
“Wow— okay, well—” Lucy pulled her legs up and tucked them underneath her body in a protective mode. “He tried to tell me to stop writing and I thought that was bullshit,” she said bluntly.
Levy’s brow raised. “Is that exactly what he said? To stop writing?”
“W-Well no, but that what he implied!”
“What did he say exactly?”
Lucy looked away, a scowl growing on her face and to hide the renewed moisture in her eyes. “He said I’m pushing everyone away.”
“And you don’t agree?”
“No! I’m not choosing my career over everyone! It’s ridiculous to even imply that I would!”
“Lu, do you still love your husband?”
“Of course, I love him!”
“Are you sure he knows you still love him?”
“I—” Lucy crossed her arms over her chest and sunk further into the couch mumbling. “I don’t see why he wouldn’t.”
“I can tell you, he doesn’t. Lu, you’ve pushed all of us away.”
“So, you’re taking his side?!”
“No. I’m giving you reality. You’ve been wrapped up in your fictional world so much that you’ve forgotten this one and the real people in it.”
“I—” Lucy turned away to hide the tears slowly starting to trickle down her face. “I never meant to…”
“I know…” Levy placed a hand on her friends leg. “Lu, we all know. He knows, but he’s hurting and it’s in your power to fix this.”
“But how?! I can’t just stop writing. I have deadlines and— you know, its a lot of work to put a story together.”
“You have to find a balance. Right?” Levy coaxed. “You have to take breaks. You have to relax sometimes. Natsu’s not asking you to stop, and he knows there will be times you really can’t stop. But it can’t be all the time, and right now it’s all the time.”
“I know…”
“Girl when was the last time you…” Levy wiggled her brows and grinned. “You know.”
Lucy blushed. “Too long.”
“Well?!” Levy laughed. “Are you finally getting our point?”
“Yeah,” Lucy sighed. “I got tunneled vision.”
Levy leaned in, adding pressured from the hand on Lucy’s leg and a softening in her voice. “And it put your marriage in jeopardy. But it’s not too late to fix it.”
The tears exploded from Lucy. “I told him… when he left, I-I told him don’t come back.” She buried her face in her hands as the sobbing took control. “I-I was screaming at him… so angry, I just lost it and—”
Levy pulled Lucy into a hug. “Shhh,” she held tight. “I’m sure he knew you didn’t mean it. Shh, it’s okay. Sometimes we say things we don’t mean when we’re mad. But you can still get him back, I’m certain of it.”
“H-how?!” Lucy sobbed into Levy’s shoulder. “He’s gotta be so mad at me!”
“Hun, Natsu’s more sad then mad. He needs to feel like you still love him.” Levy pulled away and cupped Lucy’s cheeks, staring, searching the woman’s eyes. “Can you tell him you love him?”
“I can tell him I love him,” Lucy sniffled.
“Then go tell him that!” She hugged her friend. “You’ll be okay Lu, you two are meant to last.”
“Thanks, Levy.”
“He’s at Gray’s right? Want me to drive you?”
“If you don’t mind.”
“Not at all,” Levy smiled. “Now clean up a bit, I’ll wait in the car.”
The whole ride over to Gray’s house was the most nerve wracking experience in Lucy’s life. As she sat there huddled in Levy’s passenger seat, all the ways she could ever apologize tried to funnel through her head. She was a writer, and yet for the first time in a long time, all the words dried up or mashed together like a broken verse. Levy did her best to keep Lucy calm, reminding her that it’s all about being honest— just let your heart do the talking for once and not her head.
“You got this,” Levy patted Lucy’s shoulder before she exited the vehicle.
Lucy sure hoped she did. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Seconds ticked by and with each chime, all the weight and worry crept closer to sending her over. He was mad. Too mad. He probably won’t answer…
Finally someone did. “You came?” Natsu’s voice was soft and low, his eyes still bloodshot and worn.
“I came,” Lucy hung her head in shame. “I’m sorry— F-For everything, Natsu please come home, I miss you. I love you more than my job, and I’m gonna make it up to you.”
“You always say that Lucy…”
Ouch. Straight through her heart. The tears broke free again as her knees weakened, causing her to fall against him. Natsu caught her, and she clung to him, gripped to his shirt. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Please come home! I love you! Natsu please come home! I can change! I promise I’ll change!”
That’s when she felt his hold truly tighten around her body and his head come to rest against her own. Lucy sobbed harder from the acceptance, pouring her heart in her words. “I love you… I love you so much, I’m so sorry….”
Natsu cradled her head and closed his eyes, voice soft with an upbeat to its tone. “Now there’s the woman I married.”
He held Lucy tightly until her sobbing slowed, eventually pulling away just enough to wipe the tear trails away. “Shall we go home now?”
Lucy nodded. “Please….”

A/N: Hello everyone, Happy Gruvia Week to you. I didn't expect that I would be writing contents for this year's event too. But I'm really happy to be writing stories about my favourite anime couples.
Hopefully, everyone likes it. This year the prompts were very similar to previous years. It had me in fix how to write content without making it a repetitive fashion.
Finally got an idea and tried to merge all those 7 prompts into a storyline. Hopefully, it convinces you all.
Thank you for reading and spending your time here.
----------------------------------------------
Main Pairing: GRUVIA
Summary:- Celebrity Gray x General Public Juvia, Modern AU
Words:- 2K
Currently, Fairy Tail Agency has arranged for a press meet to officially declare the facts of the new movie in which two of their most famous actors are going to be a part.
Gray Fullbuster, 25 years, tv artist turned actor and Lucy Heartfilia, 24 years, model turned actress, has signed up for this movie which is under the production of Straussl Inc.
As the reporters who out various questions regarding the details of this upcoming venture and some related to their personal life.
"So, Mr Fullbuster, tell us about how you feel knowing that you have been nominated for 3 categories of awards this year?"
One of the reporters asked and was ready to note Gray's response.
"I'm sure that I will receive the awards for best actor and handsome face. Also, my last movie 'Icy Days' has been nominated for the best movie of the year. But not sure about the 'Gem of the decade' award."
Gray confidently answered and smiled which made the female reporters squeal.
Lucy interrupted, "Not to ruin Gray's fantasy but my movie 'Starry Night At Stella' was a blockbuster hit. Myself and my co-actor Natsu Dragneel were praised by critics for our performance. So, Gray, don't forget that even we are on the race too." Lucy smiled which made everyone chuckle after hearing her opinions.
"Sure Lucy... All the best to you and Natsu" Gray told and looked at his manager, Erza Scarlet, who also happens to be Natsu's manager, to know when this press meet is going to end.
"Another 10 minutes" Erza gestured by hand signals.
Suddenly, one of the reporters from Magnolia Times shot down a question that took Gray off guard.
"Recently, there was a photo of Mr Fullbuster with a child in his arms. Who does that child happen to be? And is it true that you are having an illicit affair with someone, Mr Fullbuster?" That reporter smirked.
Gray remained indifferent and calmly answered him while his team members and staff panicked.
"Everyone in Fiore knows that it was a piece of fake news. In today's era of modern technology, it is easy to photoshop one's picture with anything and anyone, Mr Invel.
Even my agency owner, Mr Makarov Dreyer and my manager, Ms Scarlet have clarified about it. So, don't go digging the old hoax rumours."
Gray stood up and thanked everyone for their time and presence before dashing off to the exit where Lucy followed him back.
It was Erza and the production team who bid a farewell to the reporters before joining the actors in their cabin.
Once Erza reached Gray's cabin, she saw him tossing his coat and tie around the room while Lucy stood silently.
"Gray, I think you should disclose your relationship before it gets exposed in a bad way," Erza said calmly and patted his back.
"That's what I was thinking, Erza. I can't continue to hide this big news about my life for a long time from my fans. I will reveal this during the awards function." Gray looked determined and hoped that his fans would take it on a positive note.
"They will surely accept your relationship status just like how they received mine and Natsu's." Lucy encouraged him and patted his arms which seemed to make him calm down.
"Gray, tomorrow you have your day off then, on Wednesday, we will be going to Phoenix Mall for a fan meet up event where other actors of our agency will join us." Erza informed him and handed the invitation.
From the invitation, it was clear that this mall was quite near to his apartment complex. Moreover, it was arranged by Mr Makarov himself so there was no way of turning it down.
"Fine, I will get ready for this. Just send the car near the children's park no need to come in front of the complex." He informed Erza and thanked them both for their words of motive before he left them.
After half an hour, Gray reached the children's park and put on his disguise, cooling glass, mask and a cap to conceal his identity while he was dressed up in a simple t-shirt and jeans.
"Max, tomorrow's your day off. Pick me up here at 9 am on Wednesday. Bye."
"Yes, Mr Fullbuster. Bye, and Good night" The driver left him while Gray made his way towards his home.
The apartment complex in which he lived was one of the expensive housing in Magnolia. The higher the floor level, the higher is the cost and the higher is the security.
Till the 11th floor, the general public who did high order jobs lived while the next 10 floors were occupied by celebrities of various fields.
One of the perks of this housing agency was that their identity remains secret, not even their neighbours know about them until and unless the involved party discloses it.
Once Gray reached the 17th floor, which had two apartments where one was still vacant.
As he hit the doorbell of his apartment, Gray could hear voices coming from inside which brought a smile on his face.
The door opened and his eyes met the gorgeous lady who welcomed him with a beautiful smile that captivated him.
"Welcome home, Gray-sama"
"I'm home, Juvia," Gray said and got inside.
Soon, he removed the disguise and leaned forward to kiss her lips which she reciprocated back.
Once they broke off the kiss, Juvia hugged him and whispered, "I missed you, Gray-sama."
"Even, I missed you, Juvia. It's been a week since I last saw you and…." Before he could finish, both of them felt someone hugging their legs.
And it was none their 3-year-old daughter, Yuki Fullbuster, who resembled her mother but had father's hair and eye colour and his sharp nose.
"Papa"
Seeing his daughter's smile was enough for him to get distracted from his wife, then, have his undivided attention on his little munchkin.
Gray raised Yuki in his arms and kissed her cheeks and forehead who did the same to her papa.
"Yuki missed you, papa."
"Even, papa missed you, darling. Were you a good girl during papa's absence?" Gray asked her as they moved towards the living room.
Gray let her down who ran up to a table and tried to fetch her drawing notebook.
Juvia made her husband sit down and inquired him about his work as he looked tired and kinda depressed.
Gray convinced her everything was fine and told her about the press meet excluding the details of the rumours.
#
It had been 4 years since Gray started his acting career starting as an ad shoot model to tv artists then to movie star.
Gray, Natsu and Erza were childhood friends who did their schooling from the same institution till college.
It was during the 3rd year, Gray and Natsu got scouted to act as models for a tv commercial which they accepted readily as of then they needed some kind of part-time jobs to meet their ends.
Even, Erza thought that it was a good opportunity for them to succeed as the agency, Fairy Tail, was well known throughout Fiore and persuaded them to take up the offer.
Once, their commercials began to reach people mainly because of their handsome features and physique especially Gray got popular among the female fans.
It was during this time that Gray and Natsu had to move out of the college dorm so that they could work freely without time restrictions.
That's when Gray meets Juvia for the first time in his life. She was his neighbour whom he thought lived her boyfriend but it turned out to be her best friend, Gajeel Redfox, vocalist of Phantom Bands, an upcoming band.
Gray rarely started any kind of conversation with anyone. It was with the help of Natsu that they befriended Juvia and to date, Gray was thankful to his friend.
Until the moment he met Juvia, Gray was never keen on love or relationships.
But to him, Juvia was way different from the girls he had met in his college. She was modest and shy but a kind person with a large helping tendency.
Gray knew her personality and beauty had beguiled his attention and wanting to know more about her made him fall for her head over heels.
Of course, they would exchange greetings whenever they met while leaving the house together. Slowly they deepened their connection and exchanged numbers.
Due to her friendly nature, Juvia would invite Gray and Natsu over to her place for small weekend parties which she would arrange for Gajeel to relieve his stress.
At first, he was reluctant to invade a party meant for Gajeel but the latter happily welcomed them.
That way, they got acquainted exchanged their work details and stress with each other.
It was after a few months of that weekend party that Gray had offered Juvia a dinner date which she accepted after a week of thinking.
By this time, Gray gained quite a lot of recognition. The reason he called her out on a dinner date was to reveal that he has signed up as the main lead for a tv drama which was produced by a well-known production house.
Juvia was elated and congratulated and wished him luck. It was during that time Gray confessed his love for her and waited for her answer.
To his surprise, Juvia readily accepted him. He still remembers her words from that time,
"Gray-sama, even I feel the same for you. I was afraid to convey my feelings to you as each day our world was getting apart. I was determined to tell you today after dinner.
But to my surprise, I never expected even you would feel the same. I love you, Gray-sama."
After hearing her say those golden words, Gray got hold of her hand and kissed it lightly and asked Juvia to be his girlfriend which she agreed.
Once they reached their respective place, Gray kissed her lips and shared a hug before calling off that night.
The next day, both of them informed their friends about their relationship. Erza and Natsu were supportive.
But Gajeel was reluctant he wanted to tell Juvia how difficult it would be for her to date a celebrity.
She has to remain under the shadows. Moreover, if words go out then obsessive fans might harm her and she would be constantly under paparazzi's scrutiny if Gray's facing bad times.
But Juvia was ready to face any difficulties and wanted to support her boyfriend in his career.
#
Once the family had their dinner together, Gray tugged his daughter in her bed before planting a kiss on her forehead and wished her good night.
Juvia was washing the dishes when Gray snaked his arms around her waist and kissed her neck which made Juvia squeak.
Gray turned off the tap and turned his wife so that she could face him.
"Juvia, tomorrow's my day off. Even the night is still young. Moreover, I missed my wife…" He leaned forward and kissed her lips which made her moan against his lips.
"Gray-sama…."
"Juvia…." Both of their eyes were clouded with lust and decided to continue their passionate night inside their bedroom.
After an hour, both was them were under the blankets, Gray had his arm around his wife and hummed in her ears as she talked about her day with Yuki.
Juvia could sense her husband's hold around her waist getting tight. He did only when he felt insecure or paranoid.
Juvia turned around to face him who kept looking at her. She cupped his face with both of her hands which startled him.
"Gray-sama, what's on your mind? Spill it out. Don't go huddling up those stressful thoughts within you. Share it with your wife. I will help you lessen those burdens." Juvia conveyed her thoughts and smiled at him.
"This is what I'm beguiled about you, Juvia. You can easily find out my conflicting thoughts just by sensing my actions. I'm really lucky to have you as my soulmate, dear." Gray said earnestly and kissed her forehead which made Juvia feel special.
Then slowly Gray disclosed his fears about how the world will perceive his relationship and worried that this shouldn't cause any harm to either Juvia and Yuki especially.
After hearing his fears, Juvia cradled her husband and patted his back just like how she does it for her daughter whenever she has nightmares.
Gray seemed to relax from this action. Juvia assured him that nothing terrible is going to happen and just hope everything turns out well.
Suddenly Gray raised his head and questioned her, "What if things repeat? And this time to our Yuki."
Juvia's eyes grew wide, but she can't show her fear, at least, not in front of her husband for now, who himself was feeling paranoid.
"I'm sure nothing will happen. Let's have faith in ourselves and your fans, Gray-sama.
I'm just worried that your fan number might get reduced once you reveal your married status." Juvia voiced her concern.
This time it was Gray's turn to convince her, "Nah! Just like you said let's hope for the best. I love you and Yuki. Remember that, okay"
Gray smiled and kissed her lips, "Juvia, you are still warm. Wanna continue from where we left?" He teased her.
It seemed her Gray-sama was back to normal for now.
A/N: Sorry for posting it bit late. Hope I will be able to update for the rest of the event.

This might be too specific, but top ten unrequited romances.
This list was made difficult for me by the fact that I'm not a big fan of unrequited romance as a whole. It's made worse by the fact that it's kinda rare for it to be canonically confirmed that a single character has feelings for someone! I really wanted to stick with canon confirmed feelings for this list and not stray into fanon theorizing. For that reason, I hope you don't mind that I've decided to pare it down to top five pairings rather than top ten. With that out of the way…
5. Destiel - Castiel x Dean Winchester (Supernatural)
Tumblr media
I am not actually a big Supernatural fan. Additionally, I do not believe for even a second that Destiel was actually unrequited. However, Castel apparently thought it was, and after the glorious shockwave that its canonization sent across the internet, I would be remiss to not include it on this list.
4. Gajevy - Gajeel Redfox x Levy McGarden (Fairy Tail)
Tumblr media
I don't know how many of you know that I like Fairy Tail, but I actually really like Fairy Tail. The plotting may leave something to be desired, and god knows there are all too many death fake-outs, but the relationship writing is stellar. Gajevy is a prime example of this. The development of their relationship over the course of the series (and Gajeel's development in general) is heartwarming and enduring. It loses points for not actually being unrequited, but since Gajeel and Levy both believe that it is at one point or another, it's going on the list.
Fun Fact: I also considered Jerza and Zervis for the list, but ultimately discarded both due to how they clearly cared about each other even as enemies.
3. Falbi - Gabi Braun x Falco Grice (Attack on Titan)
Tumblr media
Falco's crush on Gabi was really enduring right off the bat. It was also really sweet to see the subtle shift in how she treated him as the series progressed. This pairing definitely started out as unrequited, but I seriously doubt that it was by the time the series ended. That does mean that it's only number three on the list, but it's also something that I, personally, am really happy about.
2. Spuffy - Spike x Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Tumblr media
Spuffy is actually my fandom-wide OTP. Their development over the course of the series, both as individuals and as a couple, is nothing short of exquisite. One thing that stuck out about it to me is how Buffy inspired Spike to be a good person despite it being firmly against his nature. Yes, they did go through a serious toxic patch in season six, but when you step back and look at it as a whole, Spike consistently tried to be a better person for her. Despite that, Spuffy doesn't get the number one spot on this list because - you guessed it - it doesn't remain unrequited. You can argue about exactly when it stopped being unrequited, but Spike's feelings were returned in the end, and I am willing to fight on that.
1. 10 x Martha Jones (Doctor Who)
Tumblr media
I don't know what the ship name for this one is called, but it holds a special place in my heart where unrequited romances are concerned. That's because of what Martha managed to do. She left. Her heart was stolen by  this fantastic, breathtaking person who quite literally showed her the universe, and he kept throwing her little reasons to stay. And for a while, she did. But she also saw that he didn't have the capacity to love someone like that right now, and even if she did, she would always be competing with Rose's ghost. She saw that and realized that it wasn't healthy for her, so instead of sticking around and wasting her heart on someone who would never look at her the way she looked at him, she left. Words cannot express how much I respect her for that. In addition, in a world where it's so common for characters to stick around and pine and go through god knows what in the name of unreturned affections, it was really refreshing to see someone call it quits and put themselves first.

FAIRY TAIL NEXT GEN CHILDREN-NALU EDITION
DISCLAIMER:
1-I know there is now a cannon child for edo Nalu and edo Gruvia with names and everything. I also know that Gajeel and Levy have twins and Levy is currently pregnant in 100 Years Quest.  I love it and their names and everything about those precious babies-but I’ve had these ideas and characters and backstories growing and developing in my head for years so I’m being the stubborn Taurus that I am and sticking with it.
-Also please forgive any misspellings and grammar mistakes as I am dyslexic and my school failed us at teaching spelling and grammar. I did my best.
Hello my lovelies! I am back with the Fairy Tail post and starting with a bang!
I’m working on my next gen story and am determined to make it work this time... so I’m making very detailed profiles for my OC’s that are going to show up and it was so much fun I thought I’d share them with you!
Because of how unwieldly the document was getting I’m going to break it up by pairing staring with Nalu!!!
Tumblr media
God I love them...
RANDOM FACTS:
-After the less than stable childhoods the members of the guild had, when they started to have children, they decided to give them as normal a life as possible.
That means the following:
-Many of those who have kids choose to stop taking the longer and dangerous jobs-or at least don’t do nearly as many of them. This is so they can be there for their children and not reduce the risk of not coming home. That doesn’t mean there still aren’t adventures and that these dangerous missions don’t happen, but many of them are weary of the risk. Except for Natsu and Erza… they are always the exception.
-Naturally, the kids are members of the guild from the moment of their conception. However since they live much more stable lives and don’t need to work and take on jobs as children they don’t become official guilds until 13.
-Most of them start taking on summer jobs or small jobs during the school year with their parents starting then and as they get older-like with in a year or two-they start going on solo jobs.
-And yes I said school year because they make their children go to school like normal kids and get the education that most of them never got. (Please note if I mention anything in particular about school or schooling system it is going to be heavily based on the American school system as I went through that system and somehow came out the other side, so that’s what I’m familiar with)
-All of the children suffer from the same illness the Ultear did as child to varying degrees of severity because of how strong their parents. I say varying degrees of severity because some were able to handle it better than others, but none actually died (obviously
 THE DRAGNEELS: (NATSU X LUCY)
Tumblr media
 Lila Dragneel:
Birthday: January 17th, 797
Magic type: Fifth Generation Fire Dragon Slayer; a dragon slayer who was taught and trained by first or second generation dragon slayers
Appearance:
-Height: 5’4 (about the same as Lucy)
-Hair color: Strawberry blonde-or more specifically Lucy’s blonde mixed with Natus’s pink
-Eyes: Exact carbon copy of Natsu’s-large and black.
-Has Natsu’s smile and more of athletic build but she is still uh… gifted
Tumblr media
 -Otherwise is Lucy’s clone
IMPORTANT FACTS:
-She got the name the name Lila because it’s close to Layla, and for whatever reason I like to think Layla would have liked Lilacs so it’s from the flower too.
-She fell victim to the same illness Ultear did. Because she’s been so strong from the beginning, she handled it relatively smoothly.
-She’s known for her physical strength
 Personality:
-Warm and bubbly
-A little whiny
-Loyal to a fault
-Stubborn
-Blunt like her father
-Very childlike and innocent like her father
-Very intelligent like her mother, but can be naïve and dense like Natsu
-She loves books and reading like her mother but is no writer.
-Unlike her father she is not the type to go out and seek fights… However… as Marie from the Aristicats said;
Tumblr media
-She was always a good student-particularly excelling in Literature and languages and anything physical (AKA she dominates PE and dodge ball is terrifying with her)
-Though not one to start a fight she does have a tempter and has gotten a number of detentions and at least one suspension for her reckless and destructive tendencies.
-Though if you ask her it’s never her fault because someone kept bugging her until she snapped and they deserved it.
Relationships:
-Extremely close with her mother
-Super close with her father and just seems to click with him more than Lucy. She’s a bit of daddy’s girl and will proudly admit it.
-Also close with her brother. They get along but he more than anyone else can push her buttons. They can fight and because they are Natus’s children it gets physical fast. But they’re still close and love each other.
-Her best friends include: Hazel Redfox and Eliza Fullbuster.
-And Happy. Always Happy
Tumblr media
-She tried to be friends with the older and therefore seemingly cooler Aurora Dryer but stopped said friendship after a nasty incident with Aurora and little Eliza.
-Her closest friend is Nick Fullbuster.
-They have somewhat of banter like Natsu and Gray in the sense they’re competitive with each other
An example of a banter:
“Spicy pink head!”
“Ice fairy princess!”
“Destructor!”
“Stripper!”
“Whiny pants!!”
“Pretty Boy!”
“Oh so you think I’m pretty huh?”
“SHUT UP!!”
It’s all-in good fun though.
-It’s also obvious that especially as they get older there is a HEAVY amount of romantic/sexual tension in this banter.
-Everyone but Lila is aware of this. It doesn’t become clear to her until it more less it’s her in the face.
Jude Ingeel Drangeel- Nickname Iggy
   Birthday: September 3rd, 802
Magic type: Celestial Magic.
Appearance:
-Height-5’7 (same height as Natsu)
-Hair: Spikey like his Natsu’s but blonde like Lucy’s
-Eyes: Natsu’s Eye Shape and Lucy’s color
-Same build as his father
-More or less a clone of his father with a few differences
-IMPORTANT FACTS
-His name is Jude Ingeel because both Natsu and Lucy agreed that Ingeel Drangeel was a little too much.
-He’s named after both grandfathers, because even though Jude Heartfillia was an ass hat to Lucy they left each other on a positive note and I like to think had she been able to she would have reconciled with him.
-He got the nick name Iggy because his sister thought Jude was stupid and boring and just started calling him Iggy and it stuck.
-Also known for his physical strength
-Also got the same illness Ultear had and like his sister got through it with relative ease
Personality:
-Loud
-Boisterous
-Loyal to a fault
-Protective to a fault
-Scary energetic
-Extremely warm and kind
-Stubborn
-Blunt
-Loves reading and writes like his mother.
-More willing to start a fight than sister, not as bad as his father. He knows there’s a time and place… most of the time
-Most of the fights he starts are with his older sister and Eliza (the later being with words)
-Extremely intelligent and not as dense and naïve as his father or sister.
-He only did okay in school because he was bored most of the time and just didn’t really try... he was also a familiar face at detention.
-He excelled at anything physical (again dodge ball is terrifying with this kid), anything involving writing and oddly music. No one knows where on earth he got it from.
Relationships
-He considers everyone in Fairy Tail his friend
-Very close with his mother, has been called a mama’s boy on occasion but swears he’s not
( *cough cough* he is  *cough cough*)
-Considers his father one his best friends
-Close with his sister but he does enjoy pushing her button a little too much which causes a lot of arguments that more than not escalate into physical fights.
-He also likes just tossing her over his shoulder to piss her off and because he can.
-He’s friends with Nick Fullbuster and Simon Scarlet by association but… they’re more like the annoying older brother’s he never asked for.
-His best friend in the whole world (besides his father and Happy) is Eliza… though their relationships can take on more of the trappings of the rivalry of their parents. It doesn’t turn physical because he knows better and doesn’t want to turn into a human popsicle, but it’s a little more heated than Nick and Lila.
-Everything jokes they’re going to end up together like they’re older siblings and to that Iggy said;
“Listen I love Eliza, she’s like my sister. Heck I like her more than my sister sometimes! But I would never, ever, ever never ever ever ever ever… EVER date her.”
-He then proceeded to get blasted into oblivion by a jet of water
-He does however have a bit of a crush on Rose Scarlet.
And there you have it! Hope you like it! Next up is my personal favorite and OTP-Gruvia!!

Gruvia and Nalu double date
Ooooooh I like it!!!! Here ya go!!
I’m also gonna tag: @sobatsu @i-write-fanfics-to-procrastinate @moeruhoshi @ship-ambrosia since all of them were very nice with their comments today :) (besides @sobatsu whose a thot but we still love her)
——
Double dates were suppose to be fun. They were meant for two couples to share the night and talk as friends. It was a time to catch up and have a good time.
Unfortunately for Lucy and Juvia, this double date was a disaster.
At first it was fine as they took their seats at a nice restaurant that they hadn’t blown up yet.
They ordered their drinks and Lucy and Juvia talked about the new member of the Redfox family and how Lucy got an offer as a writer for a magazine.
It was going well except for the dragon and ice mages who were glaring holes in each other’s faces as their arms were sling over their girlfriends. It wasn’t noticeable at first but when the drinks arrived, Natsu placed a kiss on the back of Lucy’s hand.
She smiled and Natsu smirked, which made the ice mages blood boil. Juvia then received a kiss on the cheek and the smug look then went to Gray.
The competition for who was a better boyfriend had started and the girl werent having it.
The food arrived and the girls tried to ignore all the sweet and subtle advances until Natsu knocked over Juvias wine glass and the red liquid splashed onto her new blue dress.
“Oh shit Juvia I’m so sorry.”
“That’s alright Natsu, it was an accident.”
“Don’t worry babe I’ll buy you a new one since this dumbass doesn’t know how to eat properly.”
“Gray-sama it’s alright, Juvia will go clean up real fast.”
“I’ll come with you.” Lucy said and she shit her boyfriend a harsh glare as she could tell Juvia was highly upset. I mean the dress was expensive and she was excited to finally purchase something big for herself.
“Those boys.” Lucy tolled her eyes as she leaned against the sink in the bathroom as Juvia brought a paper towel to her dress. “I’m really sorry Juvia.”
“It’s alright Lucy. It’s just a dress.”
“Here. Open gate of the Madien, Virgo!” Lucy held up her key and in a golden flash, the lovable spirit was bowing.
“Hello Princess, hello Juvia.” She smiled but then saw the wine stain. “Allow me to assist.”
“Oh thank you Virgo!” Juvia gushed as she saw the new dress on her body. “Let’s get back to dinner.”
The two girls walked back to their table, the smiles on their faces from their conversation dropped when they saw what was happening.
“Oh so you think you’re better Popsicle Boy?” Roared the fire mage. His fist was lit up with a bright flame and he was standing on their now ruined table.
“I know I’m better Flame Brain.” Gray yelled back as he conjured up a ice spell.
The restaurant guests were all huddled in their tables and the wait staff was trying not to get hit with magic.
“NATSU DRAGNEEL AND GRAY FULLBUSTER! WHAT IN MAVIS ARE YOU DOING?!” The shout came from Lucy as she pulled her magic whip out and slammed it in between the brawl.
Cowering in fear, the fire mage put out his bright flame and looked at his fuming girlfriend. Gray laughed but then stopped as his gaze met with a pissed off water mage.
“Gray-sama you have five seconds to get outside or Juvia will water lock you.” It was an empty threat but her deadly gaze made him rush out side as Natsu followed.
The girls apologized an left the restaurant completely embarrassed as their boyfriends waited outside for their fate.
“Well it was nice while it lasted.” Lucy spoke to Juvia and she received a smile from the water mage.
“Juvia thinks it should only be girls next time. Levy and Erza would want to join.”
“Oh girls night definitely. See you tomorrow!” Lucy said and then grabbed the arm of her boyfriend. “You on the other hand, you’re in trouble.”
Juvia giggled at the couple then went towards her own boyfriend. “Would Gray-sama like to explain why date night was ruined?” She asked and tapped her foot.
“Well for starters he said he was a better boyfriend than me which we both know is a lie so I had to defend my honor.”
“How daring.” Juvia rolled her eyes but held his hand. “Although Juvia agrees, she never got to finish her meal and is still hungry.”
“Well I know of another meal you can have.” He winked.
“You don’t get anything after that scene.” She raised her eyebrows at him and he scoffed.
“No fair. What if I get us a pizza? How about then?”
Juvia thought about it then nodded. “I’m still upset but ok. Also no more double date since you two can’t behave.”
“Fine by me.”

I hope you liked it. I wrote the rest of this on my break at work 😂😂

Out of my Chest #2 - a FengQing ficlet
So, a few days ago I saw that tweet from Frace and couldn't get the idea out of my mind. (please see tweet here!!) I didn't have time for a full fic, so here comes the ficlet for my "Out of my chest" series. Thank you, pal, for feeding my creativity wheel!
Communication is key
Summary: Muqing and Fenxin developed a special non-verbal communication over the years and everyone goes "Huuuuh??" about it, especially Muqin's assholish boyfriend, who Fengxin hates and who Muqin wouldn't be really interested in dating in the first place, if he didn't think Fengxin was straight.
Fenxin and Muqing are friends - reluctant at first, but Muqing really wanted to make friends with the nice kid at school, and he needed to play nice with the stupid jock, so be it.
At first, both Muqing and Fenxin played nice (somewhat). However, Fenxin isn’t one to pretend and soon he regularly sends jabs at Muqing - Fenxin thinking Muqing only wants to be friends with Xielian because he’s the most popular kid at school. Things escalate, and soon Fenxin and Muqing are well-known for their constant fighting.
It gets so bad that, after a few months of teachers ignoring the problem, Xielian has to intervene to prevent more blood to be shed - Muqing still ends up at the hospital with two broken fingers while Muqing nurses his broken nose.
(Much, much later, they would reminisce how Fenxin’s nose ended up crooked and laugh about it.)
Hence, Fenxin and Muqing reverted to shooting death glare and mouth insults and threats at each other behind Xielian’s back.
One afternoon during their last year of high school, a fire starts and the whole building ends up in flames. Xielian save a kid from burning alive, but even his heroic action isn’t enough aga    inst the blame placed on his parent's company. The XianLe company is big, specialized in manufacturing safety equipment, except all the fire alarms and extinguishers placed in the school ended up malfunctioning. The media take over the affair to make the Xianle company fall. Muqing and Fenxin, watching helplessly as their dear friend marches through a nightmare, do their best to get along so as to make Xielian’s suffering a little bit less hard and end up making real effort improving their relationship.
(The boy Xielian saved would become the man that would save Xielian from the street and become his husband much later on, but that’s a different story.)
Once they reach college, one could call Fenxin and Muqing best friends, even if they throw harsh words at each other.
After high school Fenxin and Muqing decide to room together to save money during college. Muqing because he has no choice, finance-wise, and FQ because he wants not to depend on his parent’s money for his daily expenses (they still pay his college fee though). Also, Fenxin is the only one who can deal with Muqing’s cleaning freak tendency. Fenxin knows Muqing’s childhood home was in the slums and the bad condition made Muqing’s mother really sick, so he understands the roots of Muqing’s fixation. Which doesn't make Fenxin less of a slacker to do the dishes.
Nevertheless, Fenxin and Muqing do try their earnest at accommodating each other, even when they pretend to do it out of obligation.
That’s when their secret silent language turns into something special.
Fenxin will say say a stupid joke and Muqing will shot him a deadpan look (‘I’m not impressed.’). Fenxin will frown (‘What?’). Muqing will squint (‘Your idiocy is showing.’) Fenxin will growl “You know what? Fuck you!”
During parties or gatherings, Muqing and Fenxin will always spend some time together people-watching and making fun of people they don’t like. Muqing’s eye will twitch at some girl’s way too heavy make-up (‘Oh my god that’s fucking bad’.) Fenxin will smirk (‘I bet even my stolen car didn’t get such a big paint job.’). Muqing’s lips will quiver, fighting a smile (‘At least your car had an excuse.’) Fenxin will laugh, loud and bright, then turn towards Muqing with a softer, teasing smile (‘Not everyone can be like you.’) and Muqing will scowl to hide the blush spreading on his cheek like a wildfire, but feeling damn proud of his eyeliner job.
Muqing will open the fridge to find his homemade cream gone. He will glare at Fenxin (‘I fucking know it’s you.’) Fenxin’s eyebrow will scrunch together (‘The fuck you’re on?’). MX’s eyes will shoot daggers (‘You fucking bastard ate it.’). Fenxin’s lips will curl up in a snarl (‘I fucking didn’t.’). Muqing will snap the fridge’s door closed, face hot from rage, glaring at Fenxin (‘Selfish bastard.’)Fenxin will yell after Muqing’s retrating’s back thatMuqing is a freaking psycho and that he should get his head checked.
(Later, Fenxin will realize that this weird-tasting guacamole wasn’t guacamole. He will apologize for eating Muqing’s homemade face cream by purchasing the most expensive, vegan moisturizer he’s able to find on the internet.)
Their friends are still startled when Fenxin and Muqing start shouting or bursting in laughter out of the blue, but they got used to it and pay them no mind.
There is, however, one thing: Muqing has a lot of boyfriends, and Fenxin likes absolutely none of them.
One could think it’s because Fenxin is the protective kind, especially towards those he holds dear, and he’s been friends with Muqing for a long time. However, a few people (including Xielian) know it’s because Fenxin has the biggest crush on Muqing. Fenxin denies it fervently everytime the subject is brought up, even if he preens whenever his friends refer to him as the “Muqing’s expert”.
One his side, Muqing has been in love with Fenxin since mid high school but he thinks Fenxin is straight, and that he’s not good enough for someone like Fenxin anyway. To Xielian’s dismay, Muqing has a lot of pride but very little self-esteem, so he tries to find love anywhere but in Fenxin’s arms.
Muqing’s boyfriends are often self-satisfied pricks, older guys with a lot of money who want someone very pretty in their arms that also sounds cultivated. They like to show Muqing off like he’s some prize, but only a few of them consider Muqing as someone truly smart, nor do they consider him for a long-lasting relationship. They often treat Muqing like trash as time goes on, at which point Muqing breaks off their relationship.
The fact that none of them are treating Muqing right is driving Fenxin absolutely nuts.
At some point, during someone's birthday party, Muqing brings his new boyfriend that he has been dating for a few weeks. For once, the guy is barely older than Muqing and seems decent, which is a relief for Muqing’s friends. Of course, Fenxin hates the guy the very instant he meets him.
Cue Muqing spotting a tiny fly stuck in the frosting of the piece of cake he’s given. He slightly frowns (‘That is utterly disgusting.’) Fenxin tilts his head on the side (‘What is?’). The fingers holding Muqing’s plate twitch (‘That.’). Fenxin spots the fly, huffs silently (‘Just remove it then.’). Muqing’s lips curl in disgust (‘No way. It’s all contaminated now that it touched it.’).
Muqing’s boyfriend is very confused as to why this guy suddenly exclaims “Oh, for fuck’s sake, jsut take mine!” as he shoves his plate in Muqing’s hands and takes Muqing’s for himself. Everyone looks entirely unperturbed by what occurred and Muqing is eating his newly acquired piece of cake as if nothing happened.
(Internally Muqing is thrilled because he knows he’s a bit unreasonable, but he was really disgusted by the fly and he didn’t want to cause a fuss or request another piece of cake. Especially since the cake is chocolate and cherry flavored. Of course, Fenxin knows it’s Muqing’s favorite, hence why he so easily exchanged their plates.)
After witnessing the silent exchanges happening several times, Boyfriend gets super jealous and feels quite like a third wheel. When he tries to mention it, Muqing acts like he doesn’t understand what Boyfriend is talking about!
Boyfriend starts thinking Muqing is cheating on him with Fenxin, but instead of breaking up with him, he wants Muqing to pay the offense to his pride. He cheats on Muqing and makes sure that Muqing finds out on social media by uploading pictures of him and his newly acquired fiancée at the restaurant, where he introduced her to his parents. (He had, of course, never mentioned Muqing to said parents.)
Muqing is devastated. Not because he loved his boyfriend but because, for once, he felt like his boyfriend was serious about him and Muqing liked him a lot, so Muqing had been ready to commit himself to this relationship.
When Boyfriend laughs at Muqing’s dismay and says his “Serves you right, you get what you dish” speech, Muqing is furious that his boyfriend’s reasons are so petty. Muqing feels betrayed, too, since he has never been unfaithful, and had even hid his love for Fenxin.
Cue (now ex-)Boyfriend being escorted out of the appartement Fenxin and Muqing share together. Except that Fenxin heard it all and he is livid. He rushes out to give Boyfriend a piece of his mind - and possibly shove his fists into Boyfriend’s face - but Muqing stops him.
To Ex-Boyfriend’s dismay, Fenxin and Muqing have an entire silent argument about it while Fenxin is still holding’s boyfriend by the collar after he gave him a black eye.
Several weeks pass. Fenxin is still thinking about EX-boyfriend’s reasons for breaking up with Muqing and he slowly realizes that his closeness with Muqing and their uncanny silent conversation are something that is past the friendship zone. And for their relationship to reach that stage, it probably means that Muqing likes Fenxin back.
Fenxin begins to notice all the little attention Muqing has for him, and how domestic their life together is. Fenxin craves for more and, suddenly, the thought of Muqing bringing a new boyfriend home is untolerable.
When Muqing comes back from work that evening, he finds Fenxin sitting on the couch, shoulders slumped and head in his hands. Finding it a bit strange, and quite worried, he asks Fenxin what’s wrong.
When Fenxin’s eyes level with Muqing’s, they scream (‘I love you.’)
Muqing is taken aback, drops in key in surprise and finds himself rooted on the floor, unable to move as Fenxin rises from his seat and strides across the room towards Muqing, before cradling Muqing’s face in his hands and kissing him soundly.
Muqing feels like he’s ascending. He’s confused, a bit scared, but entirely euphoric at being confessed to. Words fail Muqing when he’s released from the kiss and he looks up at Fenxin, not moving from the other man’s embrace.
Then Muqing smiles, unrestrained even if a bit shy, and Fenxin hears the “I love you too” loud and clear.

Fairy Tail Next Generation (my personal view)
Yesterday, I talked about my view on the next generation of How To Train Your Dragon. Today, I do the same, but with Fairy Tail.
Some names for the kids, like Storm, Reiki, Sylvia and others are from tumblr-user kkumri, so the rights for their names go to them! Next to that, Nashi is already sorta canon, so I’m not gonna argue with that.
The Dragneel Family (Natsu and Lucy):
Nashi Luna Dragneel is their first born child and oldest daughter, born in the year X797. She uses Fire Dragon Slayer Magic, is a mage of Fairy Tail and a member of Team Nashi. She is is more mature than her siblings, but also quite violent and doesn’t think things through. Looking more like her father, people are almost forced to call her “the Second Salamander”.
Lucas Igneel Dragneel is their first son and second child, born in X799. Although he uses Celestial Spirit Magic, he also has his fair share of Heat Resistance. He is a mage of Fairy Tail and a member of Team Star-Struck. He is rambunctious and a joker, often getting attention for one or more of his actions. He shares a close bond with Charlotte Conbolt, trusting each other above anything else.
Layla Ashley Dragneel, their third child and second daughter, is born in X801 and uses Sound Magic and Thought Protection. She is, like her siblings, part of Fairy Tail, and she is a member of Team Sound. She once was close with her older brother and the daughter of Wendy and Romeo, but after an accident involving the two they grew apart. She is more like her mother, although she doesn’t forgive others as easily.
The twins, Spirit Aquarius Dragneel and Igneel Jude Dragneel are born in X816, a long time after Layla’s birth. They were unexpected, but loved by all. Spirit uses Moon Dragon Slayer Magic, while Igneel uses Sun Dragon Slayer Magic.
The Fullbuster Family (Gray and Juvia):
Storm Silver Fullbuster is born in X796, a year before Nashi. The two are close, but fight a lot. Storm uses Ice Devil Slayer Magic and Water Magic and is a member of Team Nashi. He is quite the depressed thinker, often staring into the void - and the void stares back. However, he isn’t as emo as he thinks.
Sylvia Ur Fullbuster and her twin brother, Rin Yuki Fullbuster, are born in X799, in the same year as Lucas. Sylvia uses Water Devil Slayer Magic, Rin Archive Magic and Memory Control. Both are part of Team Sound. Rin and Lucas are best friends since birth, often telling each other their secrets or having a “men’s night off” (all they do is watching sappy movies and eating ice-cream). As his best friend, Lucas is the only one who knows about Rin’s crush on Rosemary Fernandes. Sylvia, however, shares too much information. She has the habit of stripping others - mainly males - and loves to write down love stories.
The Fernandes Family (Erza and Jellal):
Reiki Simon Fernandes is born in X795 and is a former member of Crime Sorcieré, now in Fairy Tail’s Team Nashi. He uses Heaven God Slayer Magic and is, like his mother, an S-Class Mage. He is the most mature, but also the most shy member of the next generation. He is seen as one of the most powerful people in Fairy Tail, often going on dangerous missions and taking risks.
Rosemary Strawberry Fernandes is born in X800 and Sylvia’s best friend. She uses Heavenly Body Magic and is a member of Team Sound. She is a warrior by heart, but often blunt and careless about the feelings of others, what makes her seem arrogant. However, she wishes best for her friends and family.
The Redfox Family (Gajeel and Levy):
Emma Ellie Redfox is born in X794 and is a long-time S-Class mage. She uses Iron Dragon Slayer Magic and is a part of the S-Class team, Team Strike of Lightning. She is a playful, but mature person who tries to help others with all her might. She is extremely close to Nova Dreyar and her foster brother, Kurai, and has trusted them both with her crush on Reiki.
Shutora Gale Redfox and Yajeh Metalicana Redfox are born in X799 and form Team Iron Destiny. Shutora uses Solid Script Magic, while her brother uses Sandstorm Magic. Yajeh is the more calm one, while his sister is more of an emo person, often joking about dark stuff. Both were close to Sylvia, but once the girl started crushing on Yajeh, the three grew apart.
The Dreyar Family (Laxus and Mirajane):
Nova Jane Dreyar is born in X794 and is part of S-Class team, Team Iron Destiny. She uses Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic and is very close with Emma and Kurai. She is strict, sometimes scary, but as she’s often on dangerous missions with her friends, it’s not often seen as something bad. Nova has a major thing for Kurai, but is too afraid to express it.
Rai Makarov Dreyar, born in X798, is a member of Team White Destiny and the greatest confidor of Fay Strauss, his cousin. He uses Take-Over Magic and Memory Make Magic, making him one of the strongest of the next generation. However, he is clumsy, shy and a real sweetheart - causing Layla to fall for him.
The Conbolt Family (Romeo and Wendy):
Charlotte Grandeeney Conbolt is born in X801, uses Sky Dragon Slayer Magic and is a member of Team Star-Struck. She is very close with Lucas, them having been friends since her birth. Both of them share a lot with each other, trusting the other with their deepest secrets. Charlotte is one of the sarcastic members of the next generation, but also easily scared and with zero confidence. Lucas refers to her as “his girl” more than often.
Aeros Peter Conbolt is the twin brother of Grandeeney Juliet Conbolt, who died quickly after their birth in X807. Aeros is scarred by this, often hearing his sister’s voice when it’s quiet. He uses Dark Magic and is not yet in a Guild. He is a little bit dark at times, but otherwise a normal kid.
Rowan Sky Conbolt is born in X813 and is about to use Rainbow Fire Magic like his father. He is a cheerful child, in contrast to his older siblings. He absolutely adores Lucas, and wants to play with him as soon as he walks into the house when he hangs out with Charlotte. Lucas, in return, loves his girl’s baby brother and acts like a big child around him.
Kurai’s Situation (Mavis/Mio and Zeref/Arius):
Kurai Hikaru Dragneel is born in X794, to Mio and Arius, aka the reïncarnations of Mavis and Zeref. However, issues happened, and Kurai was left by the door of Fairy Tail, with the only not being: “Please take care of our little Kurai”. He was adopted by Gajeel and Levy, raised alongside Emma. He turned out to love science, having a lab of his own. He is pretty cheerful and very good at observing and taking situaties into his own hands.
Happy and Carla’s Family:
Cappy and Ami are their only children, born in X808. Cappy is best friends with Nashi and almost exactly like his father, while Ami is on Team Star-Struck with Lucas and Charlotte and is more mature.
I have other couples’ kids listed, but it would take a very long time to write down all of them. So, here’s the list of the children I skipped over:
Otoko Strauss (Elfman and Evergreen) Fay Strauss (Elfman and Evergreen) Weiss Eucliffe (Sting and Yukino) Tora Eucliffe (Sting and Yukino) Kage Skiadrum Cheney (Rogue and Minerva) Zeri Erza Cheney (Rogue and Minerva) Cornelia Yosuko Alberona (Cana and Bacchus) Hebi Kya Suru (Erik/Cobra and Kinana) Amaru Ren Suru (Erik/Cobra and Kinana) Moran Shi Akachan (Bickslow and Lisanna, deceased) April Saisho Akachan (Bickslow and Lisanna) David Banme Akachan (Bickslow and Lisanna) Ebony San Akachan (Bickslow and Lisanna) Ayame Yui Akachan (Bickslow and Lisanna) Chirasu “Chira” Justine (Freed) Isaac Connell (Alzack and Bisca) Lyre Ultear Vastia (Lyon and Meredy) Kai Gray Vastia (Lyon and Meredy) Sora Tearm (Eve and Sherria) Akio Tearm (Eve and Sherria) Miyako Tearm (Eve and Sherria) Amy Akatsuki (Ren and Sherry) Kenji Akatsuki (Ren and Sherry) Hiroki Lates (Hibiki and Jenny) Kiyoko Lates (Hibiki and Jenny) Michi Lates (Hibiki and Jenny) Haru Lates (Hibiki and Jenny) Tsuki Mayonaka (Macbeth/Midnight and Sorano/Angel) Akeno Mayonaka (Macbeth/Midnight and Sorano/Angel) Catrin (Millianna and Shô) Felina (Millianna and Shô) Hayai (Jet, adopted) Atsui (Droy, adopted) Brannie Alors (Max) Koa Rocko (Laki and Warren) Nico Gryder (Mest and Katja) Lahar Gryder (Mest and Katja) Kioku Lore (Rufus) Safaia E. Fiore (Hisui and Arcadios) Delphinus (Aquarius and Scorpio) Carina (Aries and Leo/Loki) Lupus (Aries and Leo/Loki) Orion (Aries and Leo/Loki)

Treasure Hunters: Morgan’s Lost Chest
A Gajevy AU oneshot mix of Pirates of the Caribbean and The Mummy.
Two professional treasure hunters clash while they desperately seek the lost chest of the infamous pirate, Captain Morgan. During their excavation, they run into a little dead-end...
Rated M for language and possible frightening descriptions.
4k+ words. Also found on ff.net.
This is what happens when you eat too many chocolate espresso beans and ask chat for a prompt (thanks btw). Up all night writing due to heavy insomnia, unending inspiration, and literal magic beans.’
 Treasure Hunters: Morgan's Lost Chest
'Salty' wasn't a term used in his daily vocabulary, but Gajeel was sure it was a better word than what came to mind for the tiny spitfire currently berating his excavation team on the main deck. With a quick sigh, he tilted his head and emptied the soda can of its last drops.
The Sea Withers' weather deck carried the large various equipment needed to unearth what they all hoped would lead to the fabled Morgan Chest, reputed to have been lost for centuries when the pirate crew's mutiny went awry.
Golden treasure hidden away waiting to be uncovered sung its siren song.
When he approached the crew on deck, the woman - her finger pointed at one of his team member's chest- turned her attention to him. Her eyes darkened upon the sight. "You," she said with a low hiss.
He greatly wished at that moment that like the gold-laden chest, she too could have become lost.
"May I help you?" He asked. His indifference to her plight was tinged with condescension. His brow furrowed as he put his hands on his hips.
"This is how you treat a colleague!? I worked my butt off to get the rights for this location!" She cried and moved towards him, and though he towered above her, she wielded the finger like a sword.
Gajeel watched the index finger wag at him, almost making him go cross-eyed. He then looked at her reddened face. "Levy, is it?" He started.
Her cerulean locks shook with her anger. "Do not 'Levy' me. I mean it."
He smirked. "I was here first."
Levy all but threw herself at him. "Of course you are! You stole my papers!"
A short sound came from his mouth as he corrected, "I commandeered them."
Levy looked as though she were about to explode. She balled her fists and cocked back ready to throw one when someone came up and redirected her.
Laxus held her away from his team leader as Gajeel called to drop anchor. He let her go to roughly pull herself away from him and righting her t-shirt in the process. A dirty look was all she could muster.
There was nothing she could do about the deranged crew leader and the theft of her hard-earned property. It was by all rights her claim, whatever should they dig up. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself for the sake of their one goal.
"Alright, listen up ladies!" Gajeel called. He pulled his polarized sunglasses down to his face. "A-Team down to ground and scout, B-Team unload the ee-quip. Slow an' steady."
"What about her, sir?" Laxus asked. He gestured to the only woman on site.
Gajeel turned. He didn't want to have to deal with her griping about what he did or did not do. He shrugged. "She stays on the ship."
"I most certainly will not!" Levy shouted angrily.
"Fine," he snapped. He struggled not to roll his eyes. She was a definite pain in his ass and it wasn't even noon. "You can come. But no complaining. Stay on my six. I'm not gonna search for your body if you turn up missing."
Levy was already on the rope ladder on the way down to the small boat below as he spoke.
She, however, rolled hers.
"Gee, thanks. I'll keep that in mind," she said aloud, and then added quietly, "You butthole…"
Once they were on the shore, both teams worked to bring the equipment to solid ground. While they hauled the last of it, Gajeel let the gentle waves lap at his boots as he surveyed the length of the beach.
Most of it sand as far as the eye could see in either direction. Not more than forty yards inland the sand gave way to grass and trees. Further in was a mixed mass of rock and greenery of which the top could not be seen.
He slowly started up the sand towards a fallen tree trunk.
"Where are you going?" Levy asked. When he didn't answer, she pursed her lips and trudged after him, incoherently muttering along the way.
When she caught up with him, he was standing with one foot up on the log looking down at the map of the island in his hands.
"It's supposed to be here," he said to himself. His finger swirled over an area on the unfolded paper.
Levy peered over his arms to see where he was pointing. "How long do you think it'll take?"
"Dunno."
"Well, what do you think we should do first? I mean," she paused mid-sentence to swat at a flying insect crossing in front of her face. "Taking account for everyone on the payroll who follows us there."
Gajeel bit his cheek and then turned his head away from her to spit. "Dunno yet."
"I mean for tonight. For dinner and sleeping arrangements. It's not going to happen over-"
Cutting her off with a huff, Gajeel turned his head to her, the map crinkling in his fists. He seethed, "I don't know, dammit! And I'm not gonna know if you keep runnin' your piehole. I've never been here before, ya know."
Levy scowled at him and at the tone he used with her. She blew out a breath. "Neither have I but I did research before my approved documentation was stolen."
That piqued Gajeel's interest. He calmly looked at her.
"What kind of research?"
Levy opened her mouth to speak but promptly shut it. She gave him a sarcastic look -a wag of her eyebrows and a head tilt- and crossed her arms over her chest. She wasn't going to oblige if her questions would be waved off and ignored.
He shook his head, his eyes narrowed. "Naw, don't give me that bullshit. Since we have to work together, it's in your best interest to tell me everything you know. To help the rest of the crew. For a successful excavation."
She waved a hand out in front of her face and looked at him in her peripheral to see what he would do while she kept silent on her secret knowledge.
He didn't wait long. He breathed a rough sigh and let slip a quiet curse before going back to the map.
And she wouldn't tell him either. If he was going to be an asshole on all fronts, then some secrets were worth keeping to herself. And right now she was the only one she could trust.
The sun disappeared beyond the horizon when the crew finished settling the main camp. Small tents were pegged in the stretch of green vegetation between the beach and the rest of the jungle-like terrain. The night air cooled the island considerably. It was something which Levy had forgotten to take into account when she bounded off in search for Gajeel's ship.
She sat shivering on the same log from earlier in the day in front of the lively fire. Focusing on the orange flames, she jumped when something soft dropped onto her head.
"Put it on before you freeze." Gajeel sat down unceremoniously beside her.
She uttered her thanks and pulled it over shoulders. Warmth quickly seeped into her bones. A deep breath drew in a fresh manly scent, which told her he had recently worn it.
A coffee mug in his hand, he sipped at it and cleared his throat, keeping his eyes on the burning wood. The two of them sat in silence for some time, listening to the camp crackle with the crew's intermittent conversations and the nightly music of the island's various insects and other wildlife.
Levy looked over at the expedition's captain. Her fellow relic hunter seemed to be the type to hate waiting on others but also refused to ask for help or directions. As much as she hated the idea of him taking her claims for himself, he had a point in that they were now in it together whether it was desired or not.
They had to work as a cohesive team.
"You wouldn't like it even if I told you." Her voice cracked when she finally spoke.
His immediate response to her statement told her he had indeed been waiting on her said research.
"That so. And what would that be?"
"It's said there's a curse on the gold, any who open the chest or touch its contents are doomed for eternal misery in Davy Jones' Locker."
Gajeel coughed down the hot liquid. He snorted back a laugh and caught her gaze, her eyes alight from the glowing fire. He asked simply, "And you believe that shit? Are you an archaeologist or a superstitious historian?"
The woman was slightly taken aback. "Do you really think I'd be telling a made-up story? There's proof in the texts I found in Port Royal."
His hard stare bore a hole into her skull. Ha ha. She was pulling his leg. She had to be. When she stared back just as hard, he knew she was serious. Turning back to the fire, he gave a smile and said, "There's no such thing as curses."
A cold wind brushed through the camp. It stirred the fire and blew the hair from both of their faces.
"The ocean wind from the beach," he said, a matter of fact. He sat back and stretched out his legs.
Levy pursed her lips and stood up. She raised her chin but squinted down at him. There was no way the impossible man would believe it without physical evidence, and there was no way of obtaining it.
He stared back with a smug expression and put his hands behind his head.
"I know what I read, Mr. Redfox, captain," she said, holding her arms tightly over her chest against the cold air. "I don't need or want your condescending-"
In her rush to leave, the toe of her boot caught part of the log that had rotted off. Before she could throw her arms out to catch herself, she stumbled forward in the direction of her broad-shouldered rival.
The coffee mug spilled its contents on the ground beside Gajeel as Levy's weight dropped straight down into his lap.
Standing one moment, the next she was gazing up at the surprise plastered on him. She was well aware of his arms tightly folded over her body.
He gaped wide-eyed. "You ok?" He asked.
"Y-yea," she murmured, still shocked at the sudden change. Her nose briefly grazed his cheek and she could smell the dried sweat on his skin.
And for some reason, it smelled good.
A blush crept into her cheeks. She scrambled to her feet, left as quickly as the dark would let her and hoped he wouldn't bring it up in the morning.
***
Gajeel observed with a heightened excitement as the last bit of debris was removed from the roped-off digging area. Three full days of digging away as much dirt as possible in the humid air had taken most of the remaining patience he had left.
The deep pit revealed what appeared to be broken bits of old pitch-covered wood. Pieces of frayed rope and other non-degradable material surrounded an old, half-buried chest.
"Break out the cooler," Laxus called out. He stood above on the topsoil. He tossed their leader a glass container which sloshed with golden-brown liquid.
Gajeel untwisted the cap. "A round of Captain Morgan!" He exclaimed, then brought the bottle to his mouth for the first sip. He passed it to the closest man.
As he and the others celebrated their discovery, Levy felt an uneasiness. She had suspected some kind of supernatural boobytrap, but none came to slow down their progress. The lack thereof made her become overly cautious.
"Come on," Gajeel said to her without looking her way. No trace of their brief conversation the few nights before -and what had accidentally occurred between them- appeared to be of any concern to him.
Levy watched from her perch above them on the ground untouched by the digging equipment. Glancing around at the surrounding environment, she couldn't shake the odd feeling. She wanted to warn him again, but would her heed only fall on deaf ears?
"Gajeel, wait," she called anyways.
Standing by the chest and posing for pictures with other crew members, he seemed not to notice her. Only when the pit cleared away did he remember she had called to him.
He put one large hand on her shoulder and said, "We found it."
"Yes, I can see. Please don't touch it yet."
He huffed. "Levy, I'm telling you, there's nothing going to happen."
Despite his rebuke of the truth and reliability of her "research", he took his hand from her, but kept his other hand on his hip. With her experience in professionally recovering lost artifacts for science and the occasional museum, he let her take point to inspect it.
Levy approached the chest, assuming control of the situation. Bending at the waist, she put her hands on her knees.
Behind her came a clearing of a throat. Gajeel shifted his weight. He tried to not notice her short blue jean shorts rising up the underside of her thigh. His gaze averted, but only for a second. An inaudible grunt of slight arousal settled in his chest.
Oblivious, her eyes roamed over the old wooden box. Rusty iron strips were nailed into the decaying wood at the corners. Bugs crawled over parts around the bottom. It looked like anything someone could dig up if one went deep enough. The closer she got to it, the more it revealed of itself.
Walking around it and without physical contact with it, she closely inspected the front side. The standard keyhole lock from the era was missing. Red crumbly bits of rust settled on the iron rest where it would have been. A faint inscription was etched on the domed lid above the iron edging. A black substance stained its surface.
She frowned. Her stomach threatened to empty itself. The ancient documentation in Port Royal had to be accurate.
"What is it?" Gajeel asked.
Pointing, Levy read aloud the message carved into the rotten mahogany, "'Gold, silver, all treasures this chest has carried now lives to tell of souls long dead and tarried'."
Gajeel's brows furrowed. "The fuck," he grumbled. He quickly moved to her side, his eyes on their prize. "What does that even mean?"
He reached out a hand to flip the lid away to peer inside. Levy gasped and caught his arm, pulling it towards her.
"No! Don't do that!"
"Levy!" He roared in frustration.
One of the crew members hopped down into the pit. "If you two aren't gonna, let me, for fuck's sake..."
He quickly threw the lid back.
Levy, still clinging to Gajeel's arm, shut her eyes. Gajeel glanced down at her as she squeezed his limb tighter. Her forehead brushed against his bicep.
The crew member fell silent. No one spoke. The seconds that ticked by seemed more like minutes. Gajeel shifted his weight once again in his impatience.
"Well?"
The crewman's shoulders fell. His tone was one of shock. "It's empty."
Levy's eyes shot open. She spoke at the same moment as Gajeel.
"It is?"
"Come again?"
He shook off Levy's hold and was beside the brave crew member in one stride, dead set on seeing for himself. It had to be a joke. They spent way too much time and effort to come up short.
There was nothing inside. Not even dirt or sand.
Levy had hoped that despite the warning that there would lie some kind of treasure. It didn't have to be gold or other precious jewels or the like. She would have been ecstatic with an old half-filled journal. Or a comb. Or even a spoon.
She looked at Gajeel, defeated. "Now what?"
A dull, dumping sound filled the pit, like a pile of dirt dumped onto concrete. It gradually became louder.
A surprised cry spouted from the only person known to have touched what was supposed to have been a bountiful riches.
Gajeel looked in disgust at the crewman's arm as it turned a pale green with a shattered cracking pattern snaking across the skin right before his waking eyes.
He put his arm in front of Levy and backed them both to the excavation pit's edge. "Lax, are you seeing this?" His voice seemed both distant and as if he were shouting at the same time.
Laxus replied. "Yea…"
The others were watching the scene unfold, not knowing what was going on or what to do; obviously, no one had trained for something such as this.
The first mate hesitantly pulled the pistol from his holster and brought it up. He didn't want to point it at his friends, but what was happening below to one of them was not normal by any standards. "And I don't like it."
The man's skin went from the pale green to gray, the cracks webbing out began to widen, until one of his wrists severed from the rest of the lifeless limb. The man who had opened the chest was decaying at an unbelievably fast rate.
Levy abruptly turned upon the realization. She made a grab for the hanging rope ladder. Her breaths came shallow and hurried, her only thoughts were of getting out unscathed.
The crewman's face began to change colors. He twitched and jerked while the deterioration accelerated. One of his kneecaps slid diagonally down to the side, causing his leg to turn unnaturally when he attempted to take a step. When he moved his head, the gray skin cracking like dried mud broke loose. The mandible beneath unhinged itself from the skull, permanently propping open the man's mouth.
"Climb faster," Gajeel murmured.
The undead stepped out in his direction.
"Faster, Levy," he repeated with more force.
His colleague was halfway up the ladder. He shoved his hand upwards and cupped one of her ass cheeks, pushing her the rest of the way so he could begin his ascent to get the hell out.
Once she was at the top, a gunshot fired once and echoed into the rest of the island. Levy turned to see Gajeel hurrying up the ladder and the undead shipmate now without an arm on his way towards them.
Laxus fired another shot that missed.
"Has anyone else touched the chest?!" Levy shouted. Goosebumps traveled down her arms and legs. She hoped and prayed it was just the one.
If others had as she suspected, no one confessed. A commotion of mixed shouts and warnings came from the campsite. A few crew members cleared out of the way before the same thing that had just occurred in the pit began to eat away at two more.
Morgan's curse was spreading.
Gajeel scrambled to his feet once he reached solid ground. He yanked the ladder out in case the undead could come up after him. The rotted body loosed a sound that would have been a snarl and clawed at the dirt wall.
"So much for buried treasure, shoulda known," Gajeel roughly spat. In two quick strides, he was right next to Levy.
She gave him a disapproving look. "I tried to tell you."
"Yea, yea." He took her hand and swiftly guided them away from the excavation pit.
The main camp was in disarray. The undead was numerous, turning the others who had ignorantly treated the dig site as every other they previously created.
"We gotta get to the ship before they do."
A half snarl growl from the freshly dead warned Gajeel of its proximity in time for him to snatch up one of the cooking pans by the fire and connect it with the side of its ugly, deformed face. The remnants of their earlier breakfast unstuck itself to snag on the zombie's protruding nasal bone.
It fell to the ground, but of course, nothing could kill an undead in this case, given that it was unleashed via a curse.
He picked up another pan and shoved it into Levy's hand. "It won't kill them, but it'll keep you alive," he stated. He gave her a hard, meaningful gaze, shifting to both of her eyes. "Stay on my ass, Lev."
At her nod, he looked both ways for incoming bogeys and then rushed forward in the direction of the beach.
Gunshots echoed, screams and shouts of men running for their lives met their ears. They lept for the grassy trail which led straight for the ocean. Skinny tree trunks and other tall plants flashed by in a blur as they hightailed it, as fast as the overgrown vegetation would allow.
Gajeel used his pan like a sword and wacked two unsuspecting undeads clear off their broken feet. Bits of dust plumed out in small clouds from the contact made with his makeshift but effective weapon.
When they reached the beach's hot sand, he looked over his shoulder. The fierce little woman abruptly stopped and swung her frying pan like a baseball bat at the zombie following close behind her.
She gave a short grunt with the effort. The bottom of the weapon smacked the unnatural creature, its head popped off and flew back the way they came. Dust clouded the air in her wake. The undead body crumpled in a heap to the ground.
A clean headshot.
The display of power greatly impressed Gajeel.
Her next step onto the beach was a stumble, but he was there to catch her in one of his arms.
"Careful," he murmured. His gaze lingered on her face as he set her upright.
She saw the look in his eyes. A red-tinged her cheeks. Before he could see it, she grabbed his arm with her free hand and gave a tough tug. Her voice was breathless, "We can't stand around, come on!"
They ran for The Sea Wither still at anchor a distance away in deeper water. The smaller boat they came to shore in sat untouched on the dry sand, the motor flipped upside down inside for storage.
When Levy bounded into it, Gajeel started to shove the boat towards the water. They heard a loud shout for them to wait.
Laxus lead a few others out of the fray. They wielded various objects from camp, frantically booking it over the loose sand. The first mate slowed to a stop and immediately helped Gajeel in pushing the large vessel.
The others threw themselves into the boat, breathing heavily, scared out of their wits. Odd weaponry lay on the boat floor: another frying pan, a shovel, a machete, a long stick, a foldable chair. She gave credit for creativity within the group of people still alive.
"Alright, let's get the hell out of dodge," Gajeel said to Laxus and nodded.
Two other crewmen pulled their leader into the boat while Laxus readied the motor by securing it onto its mount. He yanked the pull cord and it suddenly came to life.
"What about the equipment? Everyone else still out there?" A man asked. He gripped his crowbar white knuckles.
"It's not worth the risk. Not right now."
With the motorboat gaining speed towards their ticket home, Gajeel looked back to see more decomposing bodies now emerging from the cursed island. He took a breath and turned to Levy. "Whoever's left isn't going to last," he admitted aloud for everyone to hear above the motor's roar.
Biting her lip, Levy had to turn away from the beach. She shook from adrenaline still coursing through her veins. The cold sea air didn't help either. She felt the warmth radiating from Gajeel when he sat next to her. What comfort she could feel came from him.
The boat slowed when they arrived at the ship. One by one they wasted no time in boarding the massive ship. The first thing he did after making sure what remained of his crew were safely aboard, Gajeel entered the bridge and created a distress call on the appropriate channels.
Levy sat in one of the main chairs and listened as he successfully made contact with the mainland. In her relief knowing there would be a rescue, her gaze shifted from the ships controls to the beach.
"Gajeel, y-you need to s-see this," she stuttered. Fear was again present in her voice.
He put down the radio and glanced up. He did a sharp double-take. "You gotta be kidding me! These fuckers can swim?!"

Levy McGarden has a thriving business and a comfortable life on Blue Garden. But that life was turned upside down the night she crashed into the Captain of the Iron Dragon. Space pirate: Gajeel Redfox. She saved his life that night, and they’ve only grown closer since. Now, he’s got a proposition: come with him and he’ll take her to find what she’s been searching for her entire life.
Chapter 1: Risk & Reward
Levy turned the note over again in her hands. Remnants of the daylight that had streamed through her window when she'd sat down cast shadows around her room. But she didn’t need the light to know what was written there; she'd read it countless times over the past three days. Fifty-seven words scribbled into parchment were now burned into her memory.
How about a little adventure, Shrimp? Meet me where I first swept you off your feet. Four days from now, just before first light peeks out over this planet. I’ve got something special I wanna show ya, if you’re not afraid to sail with pirates. I’ll bring the rum this time. You bring better running shoes. -CGR
Levy buried her face into her knees thinking about that night. Swept her off her feet—more like tossed her over his mechanical shoulder kicking and screaming. Still, she wouldn’t have changed anything about it, despite the rather unfortunate circumstances.
That had been six weeks ago. Six heart pounding, gut wrenching, butterflies running races through her stomach weeks of all-day texts and late night video calls. And Levy hadn’t been able to stop smiling since. Especially now that his studded face graced every other wanted poster on Blue Garden.
His strong, chiseled face with that cocky grin. But the posters never truly did him justice. There was a mischievous twinkle in his eye that you could only see in person, and Levy longed to experience that flash of dangerous excitement again. Some days it felt like it had all been a dream, but the universe had quite literally shoved her into his arms.
Being friends with a real pirate was nothing like the tales in her books. He was so much more complex than the characters she’d fallen for between pages. Brazen and terrifyingly powerful one moment, he’d slip into something gentle and sweet the next. Levy couldn’t care less about the sharp edges of his personality. Every beautiful rose had thorns. Nothing worth having came without risk.
Each day her heart would flutter at the telltale vibration of a new message on her communicator. There was hardly a morning she awoke without a text from one mysterious CGR. Her mind flicked back to the basement of Lily’s bakery and words she hadn’t been supposed to hear. Smitten after just one night, Captain. Levy bit down on the memory. Had it even been real or just something she’d pulled from the depths of her imagination?
Her face warmed. He’d left her trinkets, small gestures of thanks at the shop before, but this was different. This was much more serious than their usual playful exchange of wit; it was an invitation. One he’d managed to sneak onto her ship without tripping any alarms.
Levy’s gaze drifted to the window. The street lights were now lit, turning the darkness of the night into something eerily romantic. She smiled. It had been a night so similar to this—except for the rain—and the rum.
She’d taken a chance that night. To go out by herself. To save him. To turn the wildest string of coincidences into a friendship. But the thought of accepting his offer still set her heart racing. She wasn’t afraid of his crew. It almost felt like she knew them from the stories he loved to tell. No. This would lead her down a path she couldn’t control. And that was something Levy had promised herself she’d never do a long time ago. Still, she wasn’t sure if she was more scared to stay or to go.
Falling back against her pillow, Levy tossed and turned in her bed. A small voice in her heart told her that he cared—more than what was due someone who’d saved his life. If she got on that ship, there’d be no telling when she’d come back. Levy had opened up to him about the pieces of her life she’d lost along the way. Maybe this was his way of saying he—
A ringing bell in the distance shook her from her thoughts.
It was one in the morning already, and nothing had changed save for the light outside. Head and heart still fought to tear her apart. How much could she trust a man she’d met once but had been with every day in spirit? Was she brave enough to take that chance? A chance at happiness, a chance at heartbreak, a chance at romance—maybe. Heavy lids pulled her down into slumber. She’d have her answers tomorrow.
It had been the rain that had convinced her, tapping on her window and stirring Levy from a restless sleep. He was a risk worth taking. With a steaming cup of coffee in hand, she found herself just a few streets away from her favorite barcade in the heart of town. Water splashed against her feet as Levy tried and failed to avoid a puddle. She smiled. These were definitely better shoes, and she was grateful to have an umbrella this time.
Levy stopped cold as the bright neon letters of Domus Flau came into view. The establishment still hummed with life, even in the dusty hours just before dawn, when everyone—including her—should be asleep. But the bubbling excitement in her chest was too much to ignore. Levy had no idea what might happen next, but she’d made her choice. There was no turning back.
Light filtered through the clouds, warming her spine. Levy tossed her head back and breathed a sigh of relief. She’d made it on time. Resting a hand on the bench that faced the barcade, she bit back on her nerves and took another sip of coffee.
“Time for a leap of faith, Lev,” she murmured, pulse drumming in her ears. “You’re brave enough to—”
“Hey there, shortstuff.”
Levy’s breath caught in her chest. His voice was deeper in person, laced with adventure in a way that could never be conveyed across a communicator. It made goosebumps race across her neck. Her grip faltered, and the cup tumbled to the floor, straight into the metallic hand of the man she’d been waiting for.
“Glad ya got my note.”
