Mike pulled his truck over to the side of the road where a half-dressed, shivering Richie stood. Richie beamed at him and rushed over to the passenger seat.

“Evening, darling,” Mike said, thickening his accent because he knew it got to Richie. The boy’s face flushed slightly, as he opened up the door and slipped inside. “Ya lookin’ for a ride?”

“You’re my hero,” Richie said breathlessly, rubbing at his goosebump covered arms.

Mike smiled softly, grabbing his leather jacket from the back seat and tossing it at Richie. “Cover yourself, Tozier, before you catch cold and die.”

Richie tugged the many sizes too-big jacket around himself and smiled bashfully.

I conventionality got this ask the night before a v bad depression morning (AKA This morning) so I ought to answer this to beat back the dumb serotonin stealer 🥊🥊🥊

1. I like my birthmark and facial moles. I have a birthmark under my eye that’s shaped like California, and it’s just faint enough that you don’t notice right away unless you really look at my face, and it’s always kinda fun when someone notices it for the first time and is like “Oh, you have a birthmark!” I also have a few facial moles, one of which is right next to my birthmark. They make me feel fancy bc of the whole “beauty mark” thing.

2. I like that I can analyze stuff without taking it too seriously. Like, with shows and fiction, I love to analyze and theorize and make headcanons with overanalyzing, but if someone disagrees or if I find myself getting too Deep™ I can just brush it off, y’know?

3. I like that I’m very blunt about things like periods and things of that nature that are generally “taboo” for women to talk about. Like, I try not to make people too uncomfortable, dont get me wrong, but I’m also not shy about it. You don’t need to hide a tampon or pad when handing it to me, if I am having cramps and you ask me whats wrong I will tell you it’s because I’m on my period. I remember in high school this guy I knew said “You know, you’re like... really open about that stuff” and I just told him that if guys (well, cis guys) were the ones that had periods, they would never shut up about it, and he went “... Good point” and we carried on with our day.

4. I like that Im good at argument and debate and I’m only saying this bc I just remembered my Speech and Debate class that I’m in and I’m PUMPED

If i had to pick someone it’d be my one Ex. I haven’t spoken to her in over a year at this point, though. Sometimes it’s hate for the things that happened, sometimes its empathy and I wish she gets better, but always it’s non-communication and distance. I’ll be happy if I never see or hear from her again, good or bad news.

It had been Richie’s dream since long before he’d met Stan Uris or Eddie Kaspbrak, and they’d still have each other, so Richie had left. Career over love.

But now Richie sat alone in some too large hotel room, shiny Academy Award in his hands, and he couldn't even bring himself to smile. Congrats you won, congrats you’ve made it, but you’ve never been more miserable. Maybe the true of success is being able to share your victories with the people you love.

Richie tossed the award down onto the hotel bed, and grabbed his car keys.
