I have just finished revisiting every Movie, TV show, Video Game and novel between Star Wars Episode 3 and 4, The Rise of the Empire Era (Jedi Survivor not withstanding because i am still playing), and my biggest takeaway is this (admittedly lazy) meme edit. Saw Gerrera is a master of fucking things up and any time him or his partisans show up, a majority of the time, it will end in catastrophe

I'm thrilled to announce our upcoming guest on the Most Things Kenobi podcast!! New York Times best selling author Beth Revis joined me for a chat the other day and gave me an inside view of what it's like to write for Star Wars 💜
She's known for writing Rebel Rising, The Princess and the Scoundrel, as well as short stories for the From a Certain Point of View collections. She's the author of Museum of Magic, House of Hex, and the Across the Universe series (just to name a few).

i'm no scientist but something about this wording feels wrong. what do you mean "in the center"? cause i'm guessing in the center is the system's sun. i think what the author actually means is around the vicinity of the 3rd planet but it could be clearer

I would love to hear your thoughts on rebel rising if you don't mind because I have my critiques too but I like that it respects saw and jyn lol if they want to retcon that book with a prequel I would be okay with it I think lol
I’m so sorry I just saw it now?? oh god 😭😭
i would love to share my thoughts!! so in my opinion, the part of saw and jyn relationship and jyn’s time with the partisans is really well done but the part after she’s left behind it’s just not good… I feel like the narrative is too rushed? i mean, it’s supposed to cover 5 years of her life but when you read it feels like 1 year. revis focus a lot on jyn’s time with hadder but I still think their relationship is so underwhelming… and I don’t like the way jyn tries to avoid the rebellion at all costs. i understand she’s sad about what happened to saw but I feel like this is not her in some moments lol and the time after the pontas die are even more rushed when it should be the most interesting and dynamic part of the book. the wobani part is not bad, I feel it really shows the horrors of the prison and how hopeless she is. also for me it’s a big continuity issue that jyn is still thinking about hadder all the time until the end of rebel rising (the epilogue - interrogation scene in rogue one) meanwhile there’s like no mention of the guy in the r1 novel.

In the book Rebel Rising by the wonderfully talented @bethrevis we learn why Jyn Erso covers her kyber crystal necklace with a scarf. Poor Jyn has such a painful history. At least in Rogue One Cassian gives her a nice hug...oh wait... 😐
Have you listened to our podcast episode where we review this wonderful Star Wars book? Rebel Rising has obvious tie-ins with Rogue One, but we also found interesting connections and parallels with Andor. We examine the similarities between Jyn and Cassian's painful pasts, and we see the beginnings of Saw Gerrera's extremism.
We are very picky about the Star Wars books we would recommend, but this one did not disappoint 💜 Can't wait to read more of Beth Revis's work 😊 If she would ever like to come on the show to chat Jyn, Leia, and writing, we would be honored 💜
