i’ve had an obsession with clinch covers since reading my very first historical romance. they’re irresistibly tacky and campy and sensual and sexy, and i appreciate the way they subvert traditional gender roles in fiction by placing the man in increasingly vulnerable states of undress, while staying true to the sweeping emotions and dramatic nature of historical romances.
these illustrations were done by max ginsburg, and their respective novels and corresponding authors are:
scarlet lady, marlene suson
capture the sun, shirl henke
the duke and i, julia quinn
stranger in my arms, lisa kleypas
the lamp itself is unfinished (im hand beading the fringe myself, which is proving to be a feat i was not prepared for) but most of the work is done and i wanted to share something lol

to be perfectly honest. i don't care if it is cheesy or cliched or idealistic. i like stories where the core of it is about kindness, the warmth we can offer others and the gentleness we receive in return. maybe the moral of the story IS love triumphs. it better fucking be
