11 Questions Tag
Cheers to @storytime-reviews for tagging me with some new questions!
Rules: Answer the 11 questions you’ve been asked, nominate 11 other bloggers, ask your nominees 11 questions, let them know you’ve nominated them!
Questions asked by @storytime-reviews:
Which fictional character would you like to meet? I’d love to meet Liesel Meminger from The Book Thief, and Lyra from His Dark Materials.
What are you currently reading? I’ve just finished The Dreamers and I have The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo lined up on my Kindle but haven’t actually started it yet.
Where is your favourite place to read? At home, in or on my bed.
Physical books or ebooks? I prefer physical books but eBooks are easier a lot of the time.
A character you relate to? Erin from The Word for Woman is Wilderness
Favourite book given to you as a gift? My mum bought me The Book of Tarot for my birthday which was super sweet and unexpected. I told her I’d like to get into tarot card reading and she’s actually been super encouraging about it so this book gift was pretty special.
Can you read on public transport, or do you get sick? I’m absolutely fine on public transport, but for a while I thought I got car sick if I tried to read in a car, because I got really car sick once when trying to desperately finish a book on the way to the airport. Since then I didn’t read in cars, but over the Christmas holidays I took my new Kindle in the car with me and I was fine. I think maybe that particular journey to the airport was a few too many winding country roads!
Name your top 3 reads of 2018 (can be 2018 releases or books you read in 2018) I’m going to pick only 2018 releases because I’ve read a lot of great books this year so this should help me narrow it down. First, The Word for Woman is Wilderness. Second, The Water Cure. Lastly, The Psychology of Time Travel.
Have you met one of your favourite authors? What was that like? Yes, I’ve actually met two! I met Philip Pullman at a signing for The Book of Dust which was a bit surreal. I really grew up on his books in the same way as I grew up on Harry Potter so it was so cool to meet him, and he was very lovely. I also met Jesmyn Ward last year at a literary festival and she was so humble and gracious and I apologised for bringing four of her books to sign when everyone else brought one or two and she was like ‘Uhhh don’t apologise!!!!’ An Actual Babe.
What are your book goals for 2019? I want to tackle the big books that have been on my TBR for 2+ years that I keep putting off because of size. I also want to read more non-fiction, at least one a month.
Do you share books/book recs with family and/or friends? Mainly my mum. Most of my friends don’t read that much, but my mum loves crime thrillers so if I read a good book in that genre I always recommend it to her. I’ve also loaned her Michelle Obama’s Becoming.
My questions:
1. Favourite bookstore? 2. Favourite genre? 3. Most disappointing book of 2018? 4. Favourite character of 2018? 5. First book you plan to read in 2019? 6. Ideal reading environment? 7. What do you want to read more of in 2019? 8. Did you receive any bookish-but-not-books gifts over the holidays? 9. Favourite non-fiction book of 2018? 10. If you were to write a book (or if you are writing one!) what genre would it be? 11. What’s the closest book to you at this moment?
Tagging some people I’ve recently started following, if you wanna do it!

Thanks for tagging me @readingwiththelightsoff! This seems like the perfect way to cap off 2018 as I sit here, cozy in my bed, the same way I spent the majority of my year.
What book are you currently reading? I just started Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco.
What was your favorite book from 2018? I’d have to say Kingdom of Ash, but it’s such a close call. I read so many good things this year.
Did you complete your goodreads challenge this year? (If you have one, if not did you complete any challenges this year?) Yes! I wanted to read 80 books, I made it to 95.
Did anything prevent you from reading when you wanted to just be reading? School, but I do try to make time for pleasure reading even when academic reading gets heavy. Priorities.
Who are your top 3 favorite authors? Sarah J. Maas, Maggie Stiefvater, and Cassandra Clare.
Favorite genre? YA fantasy!
What is your favorite movie that started as a book? I love so many books-turned-movies, but one that I really loved recently was To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before!
What book series do you think is underrated? The Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness. I find it absolutely phenomenal and I’m so excited for the movie, but I never see much about it on here.
Did a book disappoint you? The Empress by S.J. Kincaid. My first read of the year and it just...didn’t live up to my expectations.
What book are you starting 2019 with? Escaping from Houdini!
What book would you recommend to readers for next year? The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White. Full of strong girls, monsters, luscious writing, a gothic setting - what more could a person ask for?
I’m not sure if this is still going around or not, but if you see this and want to do it, you should! Tag me in your answers :)

FOR MY NEXT READ
I picked...
I'll give you the sun, by Jandy Nelson
For some reason I can only read one book at a time, otherwise I feel like I'm cheating on characters..
Just me? That's cool.

So sorry I've been inactive, life has been crazy!
The newest addition to my family is Jellybean the kitten. She was born like a week and a half after my son. I adore her crazy behavior and we are trying to teach bother her and my son how to act around each other 🤦‍♀️
I also got engaged to the love of my life, I'm very excited to be with him for the rest of my life, even if he drives me nuts.
I'm hoping that I'll be able to find more time to read but it seems like I am so busy with everything and everyone I haven't had time. Though I do hope to finish the book I have been working on, for the LAST 4 MONTHS, within the next couple days.
If ya see this, thanks for checking in! Much love to ya'll!

Day 2: New Year, Old Book
I chose Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys because this will forever be my favorite book. I have read it a bunch of times and I still get the bubbly feeling afterwards. It may be a new year, but this will always be the best book!

BOOK REVIEW
This has been a long time coming, but I finally found the time to fishing this book.
I rated this book 5 stars on Goodreads. It has been a long time since I've been sucked into a book. This book is filled with a very important lesson. I'm not going to put spoilers on this because I really believe you should just read it.
It is a young adult fiction so you really need to keep that in mind while reading it, however the author does an amazing job at being descriptive while still keeping your attention. She also changes perspectives very smoothly.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an easy read. While it took me a month or so to read it, I also have a child and suck at time management. It could have taken me a couple days if I had all the time in the world.
Anyway, read it or don't. I enjoyed it very much and appreciated the time I did spend on it. Especially since I don't get much time to myself.

Hello everyone, and happy new year!
This last weekend has been quite hard on this new momma. My son got really sick and so we have had many sleepless nights and a trip to the emergency room. He is doing a bit better which is why I am posting today.
On another note, I am going to participate in @myownlittlebookcorner‘s Shelf-Confidence Book Photo Challenge. This one is a day late, but I have been working on the editing for a few so I thought I would post it anyway.
These three books are my reading goals to finish hopefully before the end of the month, but I probably wont finish them until the end of February. I don’t have much time right now to be reading since my son is sick, but as soon as he gets better I am sure I will be able to find more time.

The Arsonist by Stephanie Oakes
"You want to know how to navigate life? Don't live and die by the beliefs you had when you were young. Everything changes, that's what you learn when you've lived as long as I have. The worst crime you can do to yourself is to forget why you chose the path you're on, but keep walking down it anyway."

Currently Reading!
Hello tumblr! So far this book is quite confusing for me, which is a good thing. It entices me to continue reading to discover how all of the pieces are linked. I haven't made it far through this book, but I will find the time! Happy Readings all!

Day 3: L.O.V.E
I picked a quote out of The Arsonist by Stephanie Oakes that I absolutely love. So for the photo challenge LOVE I did some editing, and here it is!
*I am still not all that good at making photos aesthetically pleasing, so bear with me. I will get better*
“Marty’s my best friend for a reason. To him I am not a weirdo. Marty once told me that he thinks I am better than pie a la mode. Everyone should have someone in there life that thinks they’re better than pie a la mode.” (The Arsonist, Stephanie Oakes, pg 155, lines 5 - 7)
