I've shared these many times already, but now here's... everything in a single post. Thank you, @quinton-reviews for this saga, and most importantly, fuck Dan Schneider and anyone else who exploits and abuses children (and yes, this includes Drake Bell, as glad as I am that he got his story told); Dan may not have done anything to the kids himself, but it's pretty clear he didn't exactly help, either. In any case, hotlines can be found here and here, and if you haven't watched Quiet on Set already or read Jennette's book, I highly recommend that you do.

Have downloaded the tumblr app and I’m going to explore using the site a bit more than just automatically linking stuff from Wordpress. Any tips or recommendations for cool stuff I should be checking out? Into precons and retro magic and artwork, but not Commander which obviously is pretty big at the moment. (Especially in the precon space!)

Learning the design of Bonbon in your plushie is specifically a reference to the To Be Loved is To Be Changed image is what pushed me over the edge to get my own miniature quinton kyle hoover. Very important pinboard segment in an amazing video.
(P.S. vlad's castle is usually in wisconsin he is not local to amity park)
Yes I have learned that now! haha. One of those "I wish someone had corrected the script" moments

I’ve been playing Magic since Arabian Nights and my favorite artist from back in the day was Quinton Hoover, who has sadly since passed away. Anyway, my question is: Does WotC maintain the rights to any art work that you keep on file and “could” use on a future card? I was thinking specifically of Quinton Hoover, but it could be any artist from the past.
We have what we call the "slush pile", which is filled with art that got cut from sets. The reasons the art gets cut is mostly about things that have nothing to do with the art, such as the card got changed mechanically after the art was commissioned, and we chose to do a new piece to match it. We look for places to use slush art, but as our worlds have become more detailed, it becomes harder to use art on a different world. Luckily, we have sets like Modern Horizons that aren't tied to a certain set. Sadly, to the best of my knowledge, there are no Quinton Hoover pieces in the slush pile.

Magic: the Gathering has a whole format dedicated around the idea of forcing you to build your deck around a personality trait or theme instead of a traditional meta; it's called Commander. Also, Magic prints thirst-traps in every set now, so as long as you can get yourself sensually immersed by art that's printed as 60x45mm, the job is easy. I don't know what that other ask is on about
Look up Enthralling Victor (2015, Winona Nelson) / Oko, Thief of Crowns (2019, Yongjae Choi), and Earthbind (Quinton Hoover, 1993)
I only ever played MTG on a couple of computer games (although I'm interested in the color system) so I didn't know that. It sounds like a potentially-fun way to play but I don't know enough about the mechanics to say.
I know Past Me was White/Blue, but I think Current Me is more Blue/Black...

Cornwall’s Random Card of the Day #350: Lesser Werewolf
Tumblr media
Lesser is right.
Lesser Werewolf is an uncommon from Legends. Wow, considering how we have werewolves nowadays, this thing is a real abomination, and not in the fun way. It tries to show the iconic werewolf metamorphosis by giving itself -1/-0 until the end of turn, but like, that makes it WEAKER, not stronger. And how that equates with giving the enemy -0/-1 counters is just not clear. -0/-1 counters btw are just one of many stupidly specific counters that were prevalent in Magic back in the old days till they were all wiped out in favour of just normal +1/+1 counters, though I’m glad they got to bring -1/-1 counters back.
Oh, and the art is really awful, too, sorry Quinton Hoover, I’m sure you’ve made plenty of good Magic art, but this one just has a colour palette which just blends into itself, like camouflage, making it overall indistinct. Cards like this make you really appreciate the Innistrad werewolves and how...not...THIS they are.
