What's stopping you from just reinventing Rabiah into your own Arabian inspired world? I doubt many people would begrudge the change, and enough time has passed that its identity is a bit muddled in the public consciousness anyway. You could even do the Kamigawa thing where you depict the world as it is now, as opposed to how it was hundreds of years ago.
As Kamigawa shows, we never say never.

Happy to hear that.

Do you think cards like beast within, pongify, rapid hybridization and harmonize should get reprinted in commander precons? Beast within is a staple and the blue removal spells are very strong and actually are not that cheap for nonrares. Should they continue to appear in commander decks since they are already in the format or would you prefer other cards?
If a card is already in the format and there is demand for it, we'll include it in Commander decks. I personally don't enjoy color pie breaks being major players, but that ship has long since sailed.

I just wanted to say that I see what you did there by including both Pirates and Assassins in the Outlaw batch, and I appreciate it. When my play group switched to Commander, I found it hard to use all the cards I wanted to (because of the build requirements, as well as us playing longer and thus fewer games). So things like this, that let me put a bunch of cool stuff from multiple sets into a cohesive commander deck, are really nice.
Backwards compatibility on new mechanical themes is something we're thinking more about.

how do battles as a card type differ from planeswalkers? it seems like they play in very similar design space, having counters and being attacked by players, unless I’m missing something.
They are similar, just as artifacts and enchantments are similar, but there are differences.

If/when: "Plane" as a traditional Magic card type?
If. Plane already existing as a card type makes that difficult to do.

Can the rules care about the order in which abilities appear in the text box? Like an enchantment where "Each creature loses its first ability" or something?
I don't think so.

"I don’t even know what [token instants and sorceries] means. Tokens, by definition, are permanents." I think they meant objects that are similar to the copies Isochron Scepter makes
Those aren't tokens.

Hi Mark. If you had to have a Secret Lair to dedicate your passing (in the same way as Sheldon Menery, may he rest in peace), what cards would be a part of it?
Maro (as it’s named after me)
Look at Me, I’m the DCI (as I did all the elements of the card - mechanic, name, art & flavor text)
Doubling Season (as it’s my favorite design of mine)
One of the Karns (as it’s the character I co-created that’s lasted the longest)
I’d have to think more on the rest.

To counter abilities is fairly rare (compared to counter spells), though for example Channel and other abilities are poplar and make them basically uncounterable. Do you plan to increase ability countering or are you happy with having abilities be harder to counter?
I think ability countering should continue to be rare. We want them to mostly happen.

I know Silverquill uses a different philosophical W/B approach, but there's a debate about texts whether they are code or author. As a code, they need to be common agreement, if not, information ist's spread. If I wrote a text in my best portugueses, with solid arguments and good structure, it would mean nothing to some, because the code isn't common agreement. On the other hand, if the code is common, why can some people express ideas in unique ways? How can some people say things in ways no one else can if the code is common? Because it expresses their individuality, it's a mark of the author. And I think it's beautiful. And Silverquill
And interesting way to think of it.

"Indestructible was used consistently in its template, while unblockability was not." What's wrong with keywording Unblockable and just spelling out anything different like "can't be blocked by green creatures"? Menace is a keyword, but you don't say "menace for 3 creatures", you just spell it out if isn't exactly the same "can't be blocked by less than 3 creatures". Trample is a keyword, but you don't say "trample over planeswalkers".
It was a matter of how often we deviated from the default.

If/when return to Rabiah? I already know it's if, but why so? Thanks.
If. I did name the scale after it. Rabiah’s biggest problems was it was just someone else’s property (albeit one in public domain).

If/when: plushies, miniatures, or action figures of Magic characters. (Personally I want Phyrexian Praetor plushies.)
When. We have made some over the years. I own a Fblthp plushie, for example.
