i think my snow leopard theriotype has faded :( i dont even know if theyre one of my theriotypes anymore, they could have been a flicker (an alterhuman identity that is temporary). when i awakened as a snow leopard therian, i would get a lot of shifts and feel really connected to them, but now idk i never shift as one and i barely feel connected anymore.

it could just be a lot less prominent, but its like never even there :( like it snowed really hard today, which would have made me feel really connected, and it just doesnt anymore :(

maybe it will change, but if it faded im kinda scared that the rest of my theriotypes will fade eventually too :( i really hope they dont

New alterhuman term ? (Coat Identity)

So when it comes to determine a theriotype or any kind of type, I have a strange questioning process : I consciously choose to identify as or with an animal. I call it a "coat identitiy" because I have to "try on" an animal, kinda like clothes to be sure it fits, to see if it feels like me. For example, I'm questioning kit foxes, so for some time I’ll be like « Okay I’m kit fox now, I think kit fox, I behave kit fox. Is it natural or not ? ». This "coat identity" process is a tool to help me tell which animal identity feels right and which is unnatural. To me, it could be both a research method and a type like otherlink or animalhearted : I could say "the fox is my coat identity/coatype. It’s normal if I’m particularly fox right now, consider me a fox but be aware it could change if it doesn't feel right." -> Do you know if there is already an official term for this method/type ? And do you think we should create a new term for this ?

My name is Nyx, I’m transmasc, probably somewhere on the nonbinary spectrum but I’m comfortable with most masculine terms! My pronouns are it/he, but they is also acceptable if it’s your default or you’re referring to me anonymously. For simplicity, my sexuality is “biromantic asexual”, however my romantic attraction is probably more accurately described as “attraction to queer ppl”. If you know a word for that, I’d love to know! I’m not sure my theriotypes yet, although I suspect I’m polytherian and have at least one canine and one feline theriotype.

Like I know I'm already technically Voidpunk but... I occasionally have what could potentially be phantom limbs? Like sometimes, I have this weird feeling on my back that suggests "wings," or on my head that could either be "ears" or "horns." Like it's a bit hard to describe.

Also I always loved bodies of water, especially natural ones! I really like the ocean and rivers, like it feels weirdly free? Also animals, I always had an obsession with animals! Like I used to growl and learn about almost every animal species under the sun! I still try to do both of those.

But the thing is... if I am Alterhuman... what am I? Everything seems too vague to get any specific details, and I think I know I'm human, or am I just telling myself "I am human," but somehow does not realise that I am actually not one?

Feel free to offer any advice, because I am trying to figure myself out and it's somewhat hard.

hello! I am echo, a questioning therian. I can trying to determine two things: am I a therian? And if so, what’s my thereotype?

Some behaviors of mine that might be animalistic:

I love night time. to the point I get 4-6 hours of sleep some nights bc I’ll just get up and walk around the dark house at midnight

normally I’m afraid of the dark, but sometimes something happens and I almost like it?

winter is life

I’m very antisocial lmao

I’ve always run up the stairs on all fours

I love sneaking up on things

I have pretty good hearing

I absolutely love fuzzy things

i have 0 fear of heights

most of my dreams I see through a birds eye view perspective, like above me

before I even considered the idea of being a therian, my bed is a loft bed with curtains around the sides, almost like a den ehe 

I have always loved exploring the forest at our cabin up north

there was a time where I’d growl as someone when I was upset with them, but after continuous weird looks and asks to stop, I eventually stopped.

I believe my behaviors are most like a lynx? But I’m not quite sure :p

hey could any otherlink people explain something to me? how do you choose to identify as something and not feel like youre faking or something? and why can shifts happen for something you picked? do you choose to shift? if not, how is the identity voluntary but the shifts arent?

cuz with most of my theriotypes, i research into different animals and when i find whatever fits best, i just kinda assume thats what i am and take on the label cuz it makes sense and feels right, but that doesnt mean that i picked it right? idk i get a lot of self-doubt for all sorts of my identity so its probably why im doubting myself in general

I just want to pad around on my paws. I want to feel someone running their hands through my fur. I want to smell the scents that humans can never perceive. I want to be in my wolf form :(

And yet, I cannot tell if this would count as me being a therian. I am a member of a plural system, so what's to say I am simply an inhuman member? What's to say I'm simply pretending because of trauma? Every therian I have seen has some type of afterlife or similar spiritual reason they are a therian. There is no spirituality for me. I simply am wolf. I know how to human, my innerworld form is human, but my mind, my instincts are wolf. I am wolf and I am human.

Theriotype help

The sind sparrow seems like a perfect fit for me on paper but I feel a much deeper and meaningful connection with emperor penguins. I don't know why but when I look at emperor penguins I see myself. I have little to no connection to their habit, diet or anything like that but whenever I see them it looks like home. They're me and I don't have that same connection/feeling with sind sparrows.

Any advice you can give me? Its okay if you can't but any advice or opinions on this is extremely appreciated

I hope this isn’t a silly question, but any coyote & wolf therians, if you questioned being either one before, how did you figure out which one you are? I’ve researched a bit, but they seem similar except for appearance & some habitat & eating prey differences.
