"Which president, Bill?" Is it Trembley? I feel like it's Trembley. Did I make this joke before? Either way, I stand by the idea that Bill would...'betroth' that man silly.
I'm so glad you got that. I headcanon that Bill has a big stupid secret crush on Trembley. He's fascinated by every single thing Trembley does.
Even though I lean away from conspiracy-style "Bill meddles in global politics" headcanons, the ONE exception is I say Bill was behind the landslide that got Trembley elected. Not even for pragmatic "maybe he'll help me build a portal" reasons, Bill just really wanted to see that man in office.
Also stupid stuff like this.

Another of my favourite of the title cards for the Season Finale of my GF Fic, A Return to the Falls.
While the story deals with a lot of different themes, one of the biggest is the evils of the Northwest family quite literally coming back to life with the festering reanimation of Nathaniel Northwest, and showing how deep the attitudes of the family's expectations and abuse really lay.
Quentin Trembley is one of my favourite characters in Gravity Falls and is a consistent presence in the fic series - he's appeared in a substantial chunk of the series post Episode 5 and, for my money, is an absolute riot who brings me a little bit of fun every time.
Manly Dan is also a qualified judge, because it's funny. Fuck it.
I had a lot of fun with this one. Drawing the simplified courtroom was a nice task for my tiny brain, and piling on gross detail to Nathaniel was a joy.

Imagine, in a worldline where Alex Hirsch likes Kingdom Hearts and would approve of Gravity Falls being represented in the series, the true identity of the Master of Masters is... Quentin Trembley.

With Quentin Trembley III’s proof that peanut brittle has life sustaining properties, as well as the sap that kept dinosaurs in suspended animation for millions of years, it really has me split on what would be funnier/more interesting for deeper worldbuilding purposes:
That the species of trees in ancient Mesozoic Era Gravity Falls had the unique odd property of producing sap that could effectively suspend life infinitely and hardly degrade over millions of years within a cool cave environment. Especially compared to regular tree sap, which doesn’t have such peculiarities. As such, Quentin Trembley in his silly genius created and used a peanut brittle recipe that just so managed to replicate the same effects but with “peanut brittle.”
(Personally, I’m not sure what he actually encased himself in, but it’s definitely not normal peanut brittle, which is opaque and contains the titular peanuts compared to his block of transparent nut-less “peanut brittle”)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alternatively, there is the simpler yet arguably weirder other option:
That regular peanut brittle does have such properties in the world of Gravity Falls, and those ancient trees had the weird oddity of naturally producing peanut brittle in the form of sap. With the weirdness of Gravity Falls, it would not be surprising if there have been plants, fauna, and or environmental events throughout the valley’s history like extinct animals that pooped pizza slices, acorn trees that naturally grow and grow from brown colored size M8-1.25 acorn cap Hex nuts, or deposits of water bottle stalagmites and stalactites in some cave somewhere.
Tumblr media
Either way you put it though, it sure makes me wonder whether the stereotypical movie dinosaur biology inaccuracies hold true for all dinosaurs in-universe, or if these were the weird featherless dinosaurs that were attracted to Gravity Falls…

HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY TO GRAVITY FALLS!
Back in Oct. 2018, my project for inktober was at least one pic from every episode.  Because of the pace, there were restrictions; I did each on a post-it note, limited coloring, and chose things that would fit the square format and that I could get done in time (between working full-time and owl-banding most nights).  I always sort of wanted to redo a bunch of those; but really, what occasion would merit putting in THAT much time and effort for a project of that size?
Well, how about for the 10th anniversary of the premiere of Gravity Falls?
I’m not saying this was a *smart* project to tackle, but I thought it might be “easier” because I had first drafts of most of the pieces; I just wanted to redo them so they’d look better, with 4 more years of practice under my belt and a new move to digital art.  (Narrator: it was not really easier.)  Some I redid completely, or did new to create the full sets above.  Basically, once I’d hit on this idea, and decided to link it to the refrain of “How Far We’ve Come”, I was committed; there was no way I was going to *not* try to do it.
I know that “How Far We’ve Come” gets fanvidded for eight billion different shows.  But, the first time I heard the song was in one of the first Gravity Falls fanvids I ever watched (link  below), so it will always be a GF song for me.
Gravity Falls has meant a lot to me for the past 6 years that I’ve been active in the fandom.  I have no doubt it will always have a big place in my heart. I’m definitely not done with things I’d like to do for it.  I’m so glad to see people coming together to celebrate this big anniversary!
ALSO: needless to say, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Stan and Ford!

Somebody brought up that Mabel asked Bill about his "top ten most attractive people or creatures in Gravity Falls" in chapter 23 and he never answered, and I'm procrastinating edits, so I'm gonna comb the wiki and answer on his behalf:
That eye-bat he was dating. If allowed, Bill would fill the list with ten eye-bats and not be lying. They look different to him, he can tell them apart, and they're all hot! He thinks he should be allowed.
Cycloptopus. Do you know how hard it is to find a good eyemouth on Earth? And those TENTACLES.
[REDACTED]. (Bill doesn't particularly find humans physically attractive, apart from their pretty eyes, but then almost all vertebrate Earthlings have pretty eyes. It's the necks, humans look like goofy bobble heads and it just doesn't do it for Bill. Everyone else on this list made it on for being physically attractive—but ONE human makes the list by virtue of sheer mind-blowingly sexy personality. Bill will never admit it out loud. It's Quentin Trembley.)
One time Bill saw this REALLY hot bullfrog.
Mr. What's-His-Face. A man that turned his hobby into a successful job, has a killer sense of interior decor, and when given the ability to choose his own appearance decided to look like a hideous freak and likes it that way? Yeah he's checking all the boxes.
Chamelius Pendraggin. Collects colors, including colors that can drive people insane, which is a wildly attractive hobby as far as Bill's concerned. Also Bill's really into the chameleon eyes. And Chamelius can probably change colors??? Hot. The fact that they could probably only interact on an enchanted page isn't an dealbreaker, sometimes you've gotta go back to the basics. Irritating personality though.
Listen. He's probably never been attracted to a line in his life. However, if the birches were sentient—
The floating eyeballs, different things from eye-bats, it's legal for him to list them separately
Geodites. Unfortunately, they're stupid.
Bill didn't look REALLY closely at what was going on in Mabeland, but he glimpsed a singing tree with eyes with the stuffed corpses of puppets lashed to its branches. Would. If it was, like, psychically detached from Mabel's subconscious. There are options, it can be done.
Speaking of Mabel's inventions, honorable mention #1: for like ten minutes the cartoon character Shimmery Twinkleheart spontaneously came into existence in Gravity Falls in the form of an abominable extradimensional entity made of base clay and forbidden magic. Bizarre temporary existence, desirable for its ephemerality; escapee from the second dimension; to truly comprehend the nature of his existence would drive most mortals to madness; fun shape, pretty color, cute fashion. Would, if Shimmery had a ball gag.
Honorable mention #2 to Soos for rising above most of humanity's mediocre potential and making it, like, 95% of the way to actually being physically attractive. Bill can't stand him though.

The original Gravity Falls pitches and pilot just dropped!!
(Link for those who want it)
For those who don't wanna look through all of it, here are some highlights I found!
Interesting changes from the pitch (What Alex Hirsch showed Disney to make them greenlight the show):
Stan’s secret was that he’s secretly protecting the townsfolk from weirdness, nothing to do with Ford. No mention of Ford in the pitch at all. Stan also wanted Dipper and Mabel to be his successors in this version.
Mabel used to be the unhygienic one instead of Dipper.
Wendy was brunette and didn’t work as the Mystery Shack cashier, instead selling veggie juice out of her van.
As such, Soos (Jesús in this version) worked the register in addition to his handyman job in this version. He was a bit less of a hard worker here, watching telenovelas on the job sometimes, but still loves his job and is extremely loyal to Stan.
Robbie was almost exactly the same, parents’ backstory and all, but there’s an interesting note that he occasionally clashed with Gideon in this version (which we never got in the final show)
Speaking of which, Gideon’s last name in this version was Garrymore instead of Gleeful.
Gideon used to personally harass and prank Stan, going out of his way to vandalize Stan’s stuff himself.
Manly Dan was always planned to be Wendy’s dad. In this version, he hates the idea that his hipster daughter prefers conserving the environment instead of chopping down forests
(For those who wanted more Wendy episodes, I’m surprised Hirsch didn’t use this as a conflict for one of them- it makes her interesting without costing any of her “coolness”)
Sheriff Blubs was originally Sheriff “Blumps”. Durland has the same name likely because Hirsch said he’s named after a real guy.
With no Ford and no Journal mentioned, episodes were originally very different-
“The President’s Cabinet/Irrational Treasure.” Instead of via the journal, Dipper and Mabel find a record of Quentin Trembley in a box buried in the yard. No Pacifica mentioned here.
“Secret Dungeon” Dipper becomes obsessed with a recalled arcade cabinet. Mabel must try and save him by finding the original high scorer.
“Thtupid Thursday” One of the many ‘Shining Twins’ episode concepts Hirsch wanted to do. Dipper and Mabel learn ‘twin telepathy’ from some creepy twins, and soon regret it.
“Periodic Mabel” Mabel invents her own element for the science fair and Dipper is jealous.
“Only the Clonely/Boyz Crazy” The exact same episode just without Candy and Grenda. Sev’ral Timez is called “ReelBoyzzz” in this version.
“Big Dipper” With surprisingly no tie to Little Dipper, Dipper asks a fortune teller to make him older so he can win Wendy over. But she makes him 22, so he and Mabel have to undo the spell.
“Sweater off Dead” Mabel buys an antique sweater and is possessed by the soul of the granny who last wore it. Stan is terrified by the spirit because she reminds him of his ex-wife Marilyn (Deep Edalyn Clawthorne lore???) so Dipper must “Swexorcize” his sister and save her.
“Teed Off/The Golf War” With no Pacifica, this was originally a Dipper vs Gideon episode- No Lilliputtians, either. Instead, the 13th hole is cursed and traps the cast in a time loop.
Now, changes from the Production Pitch (I’m guessing for when the show was already greenlit and this was a way to brief crew members on what the show would 100% be about)
Stan’s secret (likely the portal) and the journal are now set in stone.
Emphasis on continuity and character development. Nothing gets “reset” by next episode. All plot developments are permanent.
All character names and designs are locked in. Pacifica has now been added, as well as Waddles, Gompers, Lazy Susan, Candy and Grenda, and McGucket (No mention or hint at his past here)
Interesting to note is that there is still zero outright mention of Ford and Bill in this version, even though multiple episodes were seemingly in production at this point.
Manly Dan’s conflict with Wendy from the original pitch is still here. Making it even more mindblowing that we never got it in the show
Blubs and Durland are described as a little more playful instead of mean like in the original pitch.
All episode examples made it into the show with no changes this time. They are Tourist Trapped, Legend of the Gobblewonker, Fight Fighters, Boyz Crazy, and The Land Before Swine.

I tried to make up lore for my WIP but I could not decide on any lore for my WIP so here's this instead
plain text version under the cut:
The President's Key: REVISITED
[drawing of the president's key]
can open any lock made before 1877 <- ARE THERE EXCEPTIONS?
"Last Summer, I was given this key by Quentin Trembley, the 8 and a halfth president. This Summer, I'm testing out its full potential."
TESTS RUN SO FAR: ITEM / DID IT OPEN / WAS IT MADE BEFORE 1877? Door to the crawlspace. Yes. ??? Gravity Falls History Museum. Yes. Yes. Treasure chest from history museum. Yes. Yes. Stan's bedroom. No. Probably not. Stan's car. No. No.
"I reached a roadblock when Stan saw me near his car and confiscated the key. But this investigation is far from over. How does it work? Is it a marvel of magic or science? These are just a few of the mysteries to be solved once I get the key back."

The final 10 chapters - and the end of A Return to the Falls!
The end. The end is here. The last 10 chapters of RTTF are now LIVE!
The end of summer arrives. Dipper and Mabel turn fourteen. And Quentin Trembley drops a final bombshell on Gravity Falls.
AO3 | Fanfiction.net
With enormous thanks to my associate, Glitterbee, for proofing.
Emotional goodbye follows:
I honestly can't tell you how crazy it is saying goodbye to the Summer of 2013. Over the past nearly four years A Return to the Falls has been called many things, most of which - I'm pleased to say - were immensely complimentary. I've grown so in love with these characters and this world that it's honestly become really difficult to let go. But it's time. I do have more planned for RTTF. I can't really say for certain when it's coming because - to be frank - I never expected to write over five hundred thousand words of fanfiction. That really wasn't in my wheelbase. But it's been amazing to see this gigantic piece of work come together and be subject to almost universal praise. To see people get shocked by my twists, to see people set up a goddamned TV Tropes page for the series, to see people genuinely talk about getting emotional and scared. I'd like to give my sincere thanks to everybody who's joined me for recapturing this little chunk of Disney TVA; while the series has been written I've gotten engaged, gotten un-engaged, went through a godawful breakup, got a new job, left the new job, got a new new job, and interviewed the voice of Dipper Pines in front of about 170 fans. I've changed art mediums, opened a Gravity Falls Etsy store, rediscovered my creative mojo, moved house to Britain's queerest, most socialist town and - crucially - found myself. And this series has been a constant through all of that. That's really what I've found so amazing. The fact a Gravity Falls fanfiction has been the one constant throughout that four years is genuinely incredible to me. It's been positively herculean, and I'm so proud to have finished it. I'll be answering any burning plot questions or discussing the series - and updating the wiki etc - on the RTTF Discord server. Please do join us there, it's quiet and lovely and has lots of incredibly talented people. Thank you so much for joining Dipper, Pacifica, Mabel and Kevin on this messed up journey through Gravity Falls. Until next time! 4000+ kudos. Twelve episodes. Far too many comics. Lots of newspapers. Tons of references, wisecracks and slightly inappropriate jokes. Proofread by the legendary Glitterbee. Check out the Return to the Falls Wiki Visit the Return to the Falls Discord Visit the fan-created TVTropes page
