New Diss Just Dropped- (an announcement!)

Prynhawn da pawb!

After a long four years, I can say that I finally have an undergraduate degree in Celtic Studies!!

As a result, I can now share extracts from my undergraduate dissertation. I will be converting some of my chapters into pdfs and releasing them monthly on my Patreon for members (which, if you aren't a member yet please check out the link in my bio). I will also release them all publicly eventually, with the previous month's extract being made available for free. However, the first month's chapter will be made available for free to everyone! My dissertation has such chapters as:

Hi just a quick ask. I'm going to be in Wales for the first time in a little less than a month, and my first stop is Aberystwyth! Are there any specifically queer spaces there to check out or that you'd recommend?

Love your blog, and it's definitely helped to integrate queer language into my Welsh studies!

Despite Aber being quite a gay town (we come second in the UK for population of LGBTQ+ people after Brighton in the 2021 Census) there aren't any LGBTQ+ venues. There's projects to make them though- Ren (@queerlittleshop on Instagram) is a nonbinary person currently trying to establish a permanent LGBTQ+ place in town.

There used to be LGBTQ+ venues in the 80s, but not so much any more. Apparently the now closed Belle Vue Hotel used to be a hotspot for gay people and there used to be a gay bar on Bridge Street. But sadly no venue venues.

However, there are LGBTQ+ events and such. There's a possibility of there being things on at the Art Centre when you're here and Aberration hold semifrequent LGBTQ+ events too. I went to one a few years ago and it was fantastic!

I'm also looking to see if any local business would be interested in having me appear as a speaker, if any businesses say yes, I may be doing talks around the time you're here, so keep an eye out for that in case that happens.

There could be stuff happening nearish Aber (have a look if Machynlleth has anything on). Perhaps some of my followers will know of some events.

for the question about Aber - Aberration have a programme of events at the Bank Vault. And there is a monthly social pub evening usually at the Bottle and Barrell but I think they've moved Mays for the Eurovision.

I'm at the Farmers Market on the 20th this month.
