Do you think any of the Erathia crew ever appeared on Law & Order or SVU?

lmao i love when y'all ask me about things that 100% existed in the original notes for this fic. the answer is yes! robin talks a few times about guest TV spots in the mid-90s. one of those instances was going to specifically be a role on Law & Order--it was somewhere around the time when steve was filming in spain. i cut it out kind of last minute just because throwing a real tv show in there seemed a little bit jarring and unnecessary, but that's definitely what it is lol

also this wasn't in the original outline, and i don't think i ever mention max and dustin working on anything that isn't theater, but they've definitely had guest appearances too! law and order tends to cast a lot of broadway people bc they're filming in new york and it's convenient. i think dustin and max probably pick up tv episodes like that every once in a while when they want a change of pace (i like the idea of them getting cast in a like 3-episode arc together in the early 90s, before they reunited with steve and robin)

I have two tattoos. I have a boob on my right upper arm and the words "low friction" on my left wrist which is an inside joke from like 20 years ago.

Nope. Piercings kind of gross me out tbh. Like on other people they're fine I don't care but the idea of something going all the way through my body is upsetting to me?

39: Favorite ice cream flavor?

Coffee. Or like. Coffee with stuff mixed in. Or like. An affogato of any kind of ice cream in espresso. Mosty I just like coffee and I like ice cream best when its mixed with coffee.

For the fic ask game, can you do 6, 57, and 72?

6. Do you have your work beta'd? How important is this to your process?

Short fics, usually no. For long fics, I'd say I'm about 50:50. The editing work feels different without a beta-- with In Her Hips, I would finish a chapter, do my own proofread, and then send it off. With SNF, I'm definitely doing more phases of editing, and even then I come across and occasional time mistake because I'm juggling so much information. I'd say SNF is a fic that could definitely use a beta, but seems to be going okay in spite of not having one.

57. Do you prefer editing as you write, or waiting until it’s finished? 

In fanfiction, I usually write a chapter and go through phases of editing even if the completed story isn't finished. For SNF, I'm doing this in chunks-- several chapters, then reading them as a group and making sure they make sense together as part of the editing process. Often this means rearranging some events as well.

In original works, I do my best to complete the whole first draft before doing any major edits-- I find that it makes the writing process a lot faster and helps me not work myself into knots trying to be perfect.

72. What order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?

When I start a story, I usually have a few scenes very clearly in my head, so I start at the beginning, go as far as I can stand, then jump around to work on those scenes. The in-between gets fleshed in around them, and I start thinking about what needs to happen to get from point A to point B. In In Her Hips, the alleyway head scene was one of the first i conceptualized, and a lot of the fic ripples out from that scene in both directions.

For SNF, it's been a little more complicated, because the story told chronologically as Nancy experiences it is not chronological in terms of time, so I've actually written this more "in order" than I would most things. That said, there are a couple of later scenes I'd written early on that I'm finally getting to in my current draft.

I feel like every single ronance fic that covers the girls getting ready before Pennhurst has Nancy just whip off her clothes, which is certainly good to spur a gay aneurysm in Robin lol, but I really feel like Nancy wouldn't just do that. Like she did take off her shirt in the car with Barb but I could see that being the product of years of close friendship, I think that generally Nancy would have more of that white USAmerican christian mindset of nudity being shameful/embarrassing and would at least turn her back lol. This ask has no purpose, just wanted to put that opinion out there :P

What’s your opinion on the concept of Nancy as valedictorian that pops up in fics? I’m not entirely sure about it myself - I think she definitely cares about her grades but maybe not to the point where she’d strive for the first in her class. Idk maybe I’m projecting a bit lmao. Thoughts?

OOOOO okay okay so i love the thought of nancy as the valedictorian but i definitely think that she’s the one to strive for the top ten of her class. she definitely cares about her grades but i think valedictorian is not something she’s like, actively striving for. i don’t think she’d be the one to give the speech at graduation and everything ya know? and if she did it would be salutatorian. (there could also be the whole “it was barbs dream to be valedictorian” and nancy would feel like if she took that too it would be another thing tainted etc etc)

so i definitely think you’re right, i think it’s fun to read sometimes, but it’s just a touch ooc for her to be the valedictorian in fics. but also, monster hunting like every six months has GOT to take a toll on her grades every now and again. like there’s no way it hasn’t!!

i can't write a well adjusted robin. i fully support the idea that she's really come into her own in the last couple of years, and that the horror of all the upside down shenanigans at least gave her the silver lining of having friends and meaning and a feeling of belonging

robin is down way too bad to call nancy by her full name. those days are long gone, they probably didn't even exist in the first place

Have you ever been seriously injured - broken a bone, needed stitches, etc?

no broken bones, but I had stitches twice as a kid-- on the bridge of my nose when I was three (they couldn't anesthetize the area properly because of where it was, so I screamed bloody murder the whole time) and on my forehead when I was 5. Somehow I have avoided catastrophe since.
