As someone who's leaned super heavy into the water starters my entire life due to type favoritism and actually somewhat disliking the fire ones, fuecoco being a cute reptile sealed my heart instantly for my main run ride or die

the evolutions are so weird????? i think your right that theyr simple but also i think they just look strange as 3d models, i think the designs would translate better to sprites which is weird cause ive NEVER had a problem w/ 3d gens. also meowscaradas mask is weird but the others r so much worse imo that its my fav by default. its name is cute and thats what its got going for it :heart:
YEAH . i think in general sooo many of scarlet and violets designs just. dont work well in 3d. you can see this much more clearly with the human npcs but im sure it goes for some of the pokemon as well.. and yeah same dsalkjdsfaf meowscaradas what im going for by default because .. i just cannot stand the other 2..

At the rehabilitation shelter I work at, there is a Blaziken who lost her chics and have now adopted a group of orphaned Quaxly. It as been going well so far, except one little problem: Quaxly love to swim, Torchic will drown. We realized this when we heard Blaziken scream at the top of her lunges, only to look over to see her running around the pond and panicking while the Quaxly were swimming around, completely fine.
this is why it's extremely important to ensure that you have a proper pokemon foster. this isn't cute. you've unnecessarily stressed out this blaziken, and you've let the quaxly be raised by a pokemon that has completely different social and physiological needs from them. what would you have done if the blaziken had jumped into the water and hurt either herself or the quaxly? how are you going to handle the quaxly's need to swim when it causes the blaziken to panic? how are the quaxly going to learn to properly preen to keep their feathers in good condition and prevent stress, since blaziken don't know how to spread the gel they secrete? this is a foster situation that should never have been allowed to happen.
i highly recommend finding a new foster parent or pulling them for hand raising. im sorry if this sounds harsh, but your rehab center needs to seriously reconsider how you foster orphans.

My thoughts on pokemon scarlet and violet so far!!
first off, general thoughts: It looks good!!! the framerate in the new trailer is way better now which is cool, I like the sorta open-world style of newer games so i'm glad thats, like, a more permanent thing now?? i guess?? i dunno how 2 phrase it, but i like the direction the series is going!!
more under the cut (warning, this is gonna get LONG):
I think its really weird that pl:a JUST came out a couple months ago, and now they're releasing another game??? Already??? gamefreak already has such a small amount of time to make pkmn games, and legends: arceus was kind of a big game!!! So are they... ok??? they're probably super overworked already!! The whole situation with gamefreak just sucks in general. They HAVE to release a game every 2 years and games are getting kind of worse over time (I mean the mainline ones, not spinoffs like pl:a or new pokemon snap) and it really shows how overworked the devs are! Merch and anime can't come out until new games come out, and theres always lots of demand for new pokemon games in general!! The entire franchise revolves around new games coming out every 2 years, and its a shitty situation no matter how you look at it.
Speaking of games getting worse over time, the GIMMICK. the gimmick is baaad. Again, I don't think this is really gamefreaks fault!! I'm pretty sure they HAVE to make a new battle gimmick for every game, or else they would have brought mega evolution back a LONG time ago. I like the lighting effects i guess!!! everything else looks kind of ugly. :(
Anyways, with all that negativity mostly out of the way!!! here are some way more lighthearted thoughts about the game so far. (man, talking about all that really screwed up my mood... >:T)
The trainers!!!! oh man oh wow!!!!!!! Theyre so cute!!!!! i looove mela so much shes SO COOL!!!!! (i KNOW people are gonna be really weird about her which sucks though. these are kids!!! in school!!!!!) I love love LOVE her whole style a whole lot. The team star guys are pretty cute, theyre not as cool as team skull or anything though. they're really generic. It's fine with me as long as you get get some star glasses 4 the player, too!! I hate that we're just fighting a bunch of school rebels tho. i wanna BE a rebel, not fight them!!! >:P!!!!!
Other than that i like brassius!! i like how different he is from other grass type trainers. I don't like the professors 4 this region tho, idk why. theyre just boring 2 me :P. Penny looks like she gets into slur discourse in tiktok comment sections. Nemona is fine!! Theres nothing special about her, really. Jacq is pretty neat!!! So is Geeta even though her hair really throws me off 4 whatever reason.
Anyways, now for the pokemon themselves!!! So far this gen is a really mixed bag!!
I LOVE YOU FUECOCO OH MAN OH WOW!!!!!!!! thats totally the starter i'm picking. No complaints, just little lizard dinosaur thing swag!! <3<3<3
Sprigatito is also cute!!! I love the fact that it has a kneading move. Its kinda generic, but i like it a lot anyways. The only thing that i dislike about this little dude is the shape of its head. its face is so flat.... it has NO snout 2 speak of........ but other than that its great!!!
Quaxly is... there!!! i kinda feel like this is gonna be a tepig type of situation where theres nothing WRONG with it necessarily, but it's just kind of boring or not as "cool" or "cute" as the other starters. Its good, but not as interesting as the other starters!!
The legendaries are neat i guess. I dunno why they're motorcycles but whatever! Its cool!!! Like, i get that it fits for violet, since these games r all about past vs. future and all that, but what about scarlet?? I know a lot of people r put off by the necks or whatever (there are a lot of lizards in this gen, huh?) but i have no problem with them! Speaking of which, cyclizar is... kind of ugly!!! whys it barf green!!! i just don't like it im sorry.
cetitan is SCARY. WHY ARE ITS TEETH LIKE THAT???? I hate looking at it actually. People keep talking about how creepy grafaiai is, when THIS THING is right here... o.0"'
I LOVE ceruledge and armarouge!!! i like armarogue slightly more cuz of the fire at the top of its head + the general shape of it. Hard 2 explain... Like, the legs. The armor. its SHAPED!! ceruledge is also really awesome tho!!!! these 2 r single handedly making me STRUGGLE 2 pick which game i'm gonna get cuz I REALLY want armarouge but ceruledge is also really cool and i like miraidon more than koraidon and i have nobody 2 trade with ;-;... sighhhh. I hate choice paralysis. I should probably just spin a wheel or something...
I actually really liked klawf until about 30 minutes ago when i read the website and apparently it can rotate its eyes 360 degrees???? which is CREEPY.
LECHONK. Lechonk is wonderful. So are fidough and smoliv. i would kill and/or die 4 them all. 11/10
Pawmi is this gens pika clone!!! I think its neat :]
Grafaiai is..... scary!! it's not the eyes for me, its the FINGERS. They're long and spindly and thin and it creeps me out. Lemurs r cool and they deserve a pokemon that isnt!!! like that!!!!!
last but not least, paldean wooper!!!!!!!! my boy wooper is getting some love.... itll never live up 2 the original wooper, who is the ultimate + optimal life form, but its a great second best. :0]
I have 2 wishes 4 this game..... those being clothing options other than the uniforms and also cute twintails. Preferably frizzy ones. Gamefreak better deliver on these or else i will be kind of sad and thats about it. OH ALSO i hope boys can wear girl clothes and vice versa, like in animal crossing. That probably wont happen though ¬_¬
Thats about it!!! I'm generally rlly optimistic about this gen!!!! it looks great even when it doesnt (grafaiai, pkmn professors, klawf and cetitan I'M LOOKING AT YOU) lolz!!

Getting Ready
“These uniforms are…kinda boring, don’t you think?” Amber said, buttoning the vest of her fall uniform in front of the mirror.
“All uniforms are boring!” Jasper agreed with a laugh, she didn’t even have her blue vest on. It was sitting on her bed next to her as she played her switch. Amber plopped next to her sister, and looked over her shoulder.
“You know, you need to get dressed to- watch out! The left! The left!”
“I see ‘im…Hah! Take that!”
There was a knock on their door “Girls, are you ready yet?” Their mother asked from the otherside of the door. “You better not be playing games instead. The Director’s here already.”
“We’re not!” They chimed together. Jasper paused her game. They gave each other a grin.
“We’ll be down in a sec, mom,” Amber promised.
“Alright…” She sounded skeptical, but they heard footsteps retreating, so they were in the clear.
They got off the bed, Jasper putting the switch in a blue case, and into a dufflebag. Amber grabbed her backpack and dufflebag, before putting her uniform hat on. She gave the mirror one last look, before motioning to Jasper to get her stuff too.
Jasper didn’t bother buttoning her vest when she put it on, but grabbed the rest of her stuff and put on her hat and managed to beat her sister to the door.
The two ran down the stairs of their new home to meet their mom and the Director having tea in the living room.
“It is nice to be back in the family home,” they heard their mom say.
“Yes, the applications said you were living in Hoenn until recently,” A rather serious looking old man dressed in all purple said. “What brought you back here, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Not at all!” Their mom giggled,” Between my parents getting older, and Uva Academy opening applications again, it seemed like it was time to come home. Oh, girls, come over here, and meet Director Clavell of Uva Academy.”
The two teens finally stepped into the living room, after watching the two old folks discuss boring things.
“I’m Jasper Desoto!”
“I’m Amber Desoto!”
“And weeeee’re,” They said in unison” The Desoto sisters!”
With their hair down, the only real way to tell them apart was the color of their duffel bags, Jasper had blue and Amber had pink, and the fact that Jasper’s vest was unbuttoned.
“Really, Jasper?” Her mother sighed, getting up and buttoning her daughter’s vest for her. “It’s your first day of a new school. Please, try to make a good first impression…”
“Sorry, mom,”Jasper mumbled, while Amber giggled.
“You too Amber. I don’t want to hear about either of you getting into trouble.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
“Amber…”
“I got it. I’ll behave.”
Director Clavell cleared his throat and stood up. Their mother looked a bit embarrassed, apparently forgetting that he was there.
“It is a pleasure to meet the both of you, Miss Jasper, Miss Amber. As your mother said, I’m Director Clavell, the head of Uva Academy. As new students, I have brought a present for the both of you. If you would please follow me outside. It isn’t really a gift suited for giving inside the house,” With that he headed out the front door. The twins exchanged an excited look at the mention of presents, and ran after him. Their mother following at a slower pace.
“Now. It is tradition for new students at the Academy to receive one of three pokemon,” He pulled out three pokeballs, and called out the Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco. “They’re all great companions to begin with, so there are no wrong choices. I will leave them with you for now, so the two of you may get to know them. When you’ve made your decision, please find me at that house over there.”
“Yes, sir,” The two girls said, already playing with the pokemon. The Director chuckled and walked off to the next student’s house.
“Ah, I remember when I got my first pokemon too. It was such an exciting day~” Their mom sighed,”I’ll be inside if you need me, alright?”
The pair nodded, and the mom went inside.

gen 9 complaints. sorry i know im annoying but im going insane rn im sorry
usually im one of the ppl that defend the new pokemon designs. i love all gen 5 pokemon, gen 6, gen 7 and 8. aside from a few im not crazy about here and there i wasnt super into the gen 8 starter evos. but still i appreciate the thought that goes into the designs even if they arent to my taste. the ppl in the fandom who constantly complain about designs have always been the ones who annoyed me the most because a lot of the time they are much more thought out and nice looking than ppl give them credit for. but this time... i have become the annoying hater😔 usually there are only a hand full of pokemon per generation i just feel eh about. this time there are only a handful i like and the majority i feel eh about. and i think for the first time ever i straight up hate how some look i feel like im starting a villain arc this shit sucks bro :(
this time around there is something so utterly lacking in the pokemon designs and ALSO in some of the human characters as well (like hassell for example) . the rush job that was this game's development shows not only in its god awful performance, but also in the artist's department now as well? there are so many pokemon that have great concepts but the execution is just terrible. in concept i love the quaxly evo line but it looks so bad 😭. it is very clear that the artists did not have the time to properly flesh these concepts out. idk if they hired a new inexperienced designer or two or what but i think throwing in a lawn decoration flamingo and calling it a pokemon is a bit unforgivable no? 💀
the pace of modern pokemon is to blame undoubtedly. for the love of god i hope they slow down i dont want a yearly game release if they continue to be like this :(
I DO HAVE ONE POSITIVE THING TO SAY ABOUT DESIGNS THO. all of the paradox pokemon look great i have no complaints there. and KATY IS SUCH A CUTIE AND SO IS IONO. this game still has waifus thank god pokegays arent starving completely. thank u sorry thats all

My immediate thoughts on Gen 9:
-It looks like the new region is based off Spain (and potentially Portugal)! Congrats for people hoping for a Spanish/Portuguese region!
-Looks like they’re using the New Pokemon Snap style for gen 9. Gonna get some getting used to, particular since the Pokemon models seem to be in-line with the mainline GF games, but it could be good.
-Listening to the demands of fans and making it open world it seems. Legends Arceus was definitely a step in the right direction, but suffered a bit from empty landscapes and it will be noticeably harder to make Scarlet and Violet open-world if they’re focusing on battling and not catching.
-The male and female protagonist look practically identical this time. I’m ready to see sibling portrayals from the community!
-Fuecoco is honestly growing on me. I don’t know if it’s based on food, but it keeps reminding me of a tomato dish. I like Sprigatito’s design, the name is kind of a meow-thful (sorry. Couldn’t resist) and the name Quaxly is excellent but looks a bit silly with the toupee.
-Why Scarlet and Violet for the names? They aren’t opposites on the colour wheel (either the ones you learn in school or the CMYK one). They’re different levels of colours (scarlet is a shade of red, primary. violet is a shade of purple, secondary), and they’re not linked in any obvious way like Gold and Silver as precious metals. Feel free to correct me if I’m missing something.

That’s a super great observation, meaning they could be referencing infrared and ultraviolet OR the colours of the rainbow (since red is already taken, they may have chosen a shade of red--scarlet--instead! Especially since it ends in the same way as violet in english)
-But look at the fonts! Yeah, they kind of suck, but Scarlet has a noticeably more historical font with sweeping curves to representing printing; while violet is angular and standardized like you’d expect from a computer. Could? Could this mean we get a region addressing Past vs. Future?? Ohhhhhh, I really hope so!
-2022 release date SUCKS. I know it fits with the pattern of a new gen releasing every 3 years, but: Legends Arceus just came out and this is going to steal some its thunder, as a manga fan the tighter release schedule has noticeably dropped the quality of the arcs, and we had to deal with a global pandemic! GF already seems to be struggling to create quality in a 3-year development cycle, and that’s on top of lost work hours during the pandemic and development on PLA! I am...nervous...on how the quality of this game will turn out and wish they’d waited at least one more year personally.
My final verdict: I am keeping my exceptions low until I get more news
