Hi Hello!! Would you please continue the snippet of villain finding hero dying? A lot of whump and caretaking would be great! (By the way.. just wanted to say this...I love your work!!)
so glad u enjoyed! hope this is also to your liking ☺️
part one
.
The hero came to with a start.
They shifted, groaning as their stiff muscles and joints ached. But they noticed that their body was comfortable, sinking into a soft mattress and swaddled in thick blankets—
Wait, what?
They blinked several times as fragmented memories flashed through their head, The blinding pain of the stab wound. Their broken comms. Blood, too much blood. They were going to die without help…
The villain. The villain finding them in the alleyway, gathering them up in their arms—
“You’re awake.”
The hero jolted, head whipping to the bedside, where the villain had apparently stood up from the chair behind them.
How long had they been waiting there?
They moved to prop themselves up, but the villain’s hands were immediately on their shoulders, gently urging them back down onto the stupidly comfortable bed.
“Don’t move too much. You’ll break the stitches,” the villain warned. They pulled the blanket covering the hero’s torso away to examine the bandages wrapped around their side.
It was then the hero realized that they had been scrubbed clean and given a new pair of sweatpants, every cut and scratch from their recent altercation carefully dressed.
Their eyes met the villain’s in silent questioning.
You did all this for me?
“I swear I didn’t look,” the villain blurted suddenly. “When I was bathing and changing you. I didn’t—.” They cut themselves off awkwardly, cheeks a little pink.
Oh, that’s not… Despite themselves, the hero smiled, or what they could attempt as a smile. Their jaw was incredibly sore from being socked twice in one day.
They opened their mouth to speak, to tell the villain that it was fine and that what they really meant was thank you—
The villain shushed them. “You have some bruising on your neck. It’ll hurt to talk. You should just rest.”
The hero scowled at them. “I—,” they attempted, and immediately regretted their choice as their swollen throat flared up.
The villain gave them a "told you so" look, and the hero leveled another glare at them.
It suddenly occurred to the hero how helpless they were. Can't move, can't speak. If the villain wanted to kill them, now would be the chance. Luring them into a false sense of security, giving them one last taste of comfort before—
“I just saved your fucking life. Stop looking at me like that.”
The hero frowned. Like what? they mouthed.
“Like you think I’m gonna kill you or something. I can be a half-decent person sometimes, y’know," the villain said. Their expression softened. “I’m not a monster.”
The villain's gaze flickered with something the hero couldn't quite place as they watched each other in comfortable silence. It was an understanding, in that moment, that the villain was not going to kill them, and that they had meant everything they said and more.
I couldn’t just leave you to die in that alleyway.
The villain sighed and turned to leave the room. Panic shot through the hero—they needed to say something to the villain, damn their throat—and before they could think twice about it, they reached out and took the villain’s hand in their own. Rough calluses from what was likely decades of training scraped against their palm.
The villain stared at them, but they didn’t pull away. Their fingers wrapped gently around the hero’s, cautious. Expectant.
“Thank you,” the hero croaked, “for saving me.”
The villain was silent for several heartbeats, watching the hero with those dark—so beautifully dark—eyes.
They took a breath, as if readying themselves for whatever they were going to say. “You mean too much to me," they finally said, voice low. "I'm not ready to let you go." Their hand lingered on the hero's, as if to seal their statement, to make a promise and keep it.
Then they released their hold, and the hero wished they could tell them to stay—that they wanted them to stay—but the villain was already closing the door behind them, and fatigue overtook them before they could process anything else.
When the hero awoke the next morning, the villain was nowhere to be found. But in the chair by their bedside, they found a fresh set of clothes, a cup of water, and a note:
Be back soon. - Villain
And though their jaw still ached, the hero smiled, fully and wholly.

constantine: but there's header gets his guts blown out, and george is stickin' his head in the noose, and helen gets ... jesus, then friggin' sarah bites me head off — ! everything's coming to bits in me hands and it's so easy to just see red and now, shit, they could've killed the tosser for all i know!

babygirl you are just....so, sooooo offputting. (and grieving, and guilty, and terrified, but yeah: offputting.)
anyway, it's issues like this one that remind me why i kind of hesitate over some of the retcons in the recent spurrier runs, like the one with him now having opened dream's pouch of sand and stolen some before they even met. because like, it's easy enough to look at john constantine now — with 70 years of worst possible choices and unresolved trauma crystallizing underneath his skin to cover up all the soft, hopeful bits where he's used to getting hit — and assign him arbiter of ill intentions, magus of wasted potential, saint of shit choices, but man . . . he was new to this, once. he was still new to this 80 issues in.
80 issues in, and he's not used to losing friends yet; he even has time enough between catastrophes to grieve each individual one. still has enough left to live for at this stage to necessitate running and hiding, instead of bodily throwing himself at the problem like he learns to later, or sitting apathetically by to do nothing except smoke and watch the world fall apart when he finally gives up. fuck, he still apologizes.
and you're telling me this guy, this soppy wet cat motherfucker hiding from the devil in a church basement, so guilty over not knowing what happened to the guy that he paid people (paid chas, so chas could pay people) to attack that the bottle he's holding in this scene isn't even his second or third........this guy's past, more innocent self lied right to the face of DREAM OF THE ENDLESS and got away with it?
hm. i just don't know about all that.

As a fellow Dovewing lover, it's frustrating how the fandom watered her down into a whiny brat who never cared about Ivypool. I mean, seriously? Not only did Dovewing care about her sister (reacting in horror when Lionblaze, her own mentor and Jayfeather are willing to potentially sacrifice Ivypool's safety by employing her as her spy instead of trying to get her out of the Dark Forest's clutches, hiding a thorn in her nest to cover for her scarring from her training).
Heck, even the scene where she tries to feed Ivypool her catch during a hunting patrol was demonized because 'she was trying to make Ivypool break the code like SHE does, as if it doesn't matter' and because she got upset when Ivypool started arguing with her! But you guys said she didn't care, right? Plus, people act like being forced into a prophecy is something you should be grateful for, as if it didn't irreparably change her close relationship with her sister? As if Lionblaze and Jayfeather didn't still keep her out of the loop (and for all the fussing they made about keeping it a secret, Lionblaze confesses his power to Cinderheart and Jayfeather doesn't even care).
Meanwhile Nightheart is angry he isn't orange and hates his mom for being exiled and the whole world has to stop for him. 🤪 And Bramblestar is simply so tortured by having an evil father, the only choice is to train with him and his evil half-brother and hide this from his wife! (But remember, it's bad when that witch Squirrelflight hides the parentage of the three from him, even when Blackstar and Leopardstar were still around after being complicit in the torture and killing of halfclan cats.) Why are these male characters sympathized with, even when they actively harm people (Nightheart forcing himself into Sunbeam's life by lying to everyone about being her mate without even asking her if she would be fine with that beforehand), Bramblestar (we all know what he does), but when Dovewing or any other female character is upset, people freak out and call them whiny brats or abusive for (checks notes) asking her partner if he loves her anymore after they argued multiple times in a book. Really makes you think! (Sorry this is so long, you just have based opinions!)
dovewing being characterized as this flighty airheaded vain popular girl stereotype in fanon is like. one of those biggest "we didnt actually read the books" things in the fandom. like theres so much fanart where shes grinning and giggling over the prophecy and shes besties with the trio and shes got preferential treatment, and then in the actual books shes basically the autistic kid no one actually likes. people really, REALLY overexaggerate that one scene where she snaps at ivypaw and brags. (and i dont wanna shit on amvs but i am forever side eying how the animation community handled dove back in the day. more than one person animated her getting murdered. normal.)
i do think its gotten better recently at least. but wow does it feel like at least one person on the writing team has a bone to pick
(also awww thank you <3 no need to be sorry i love getting stuff in my inbox)

Okay i have yet to see a post about this that isnt filled with ppl being Annoying as Fuck on it, but,
theyve found wreckage of the submersible, it imploded (thank god, thats better than a drawn out suffocation over the course of several days, implosion means it was pretty much instantaneous) and the us navy have revealed they heard a weird sound on sunday from about where communication with the sub was lost, that was probably the sound of the implosion, [implied that they didnt say anything cos they didnt want to jump to conclusions without evidence of a wreckage, if there was a chance they were still alive.] no idea what the banging sounds were.
I do hope rescue efforts are extended to the migrants off the coast of greece, and am angry and horrified at their mistreatment, and that the media clearly cares less for their fates than that of the billionaires on the sub.
also, while i have you here,
The difference between a submersible and a submarine is not that one is safer. The titan was a submersible that was unsafe, but that is not because it was a submersible.
A submarine (or sub) is a watercraft capable of independent operation underwater.
A submersible is a watercraft designed to operate underwater, usually supported by a nearby surface vessel, platform, shore team or sometimes a larger submarine.
submarines generally dont go as deep as our deepest submersibles, but some can be down there for months at a time bc it is like. a self sufficient Ship. not all submersibles can go crazy deep, but to my knowledge, the only crewed vessels that can go that deep, are submersibles. (Alvin, deepsea challenger, limiting factor, trieste, fendouzhe or "striver").

Any headcanos for the butterfly boy? 😩
YES YES YES
Normally I would wait until all my thoughts were together before I answered this, but I know I'll continually have things to add, so I'm putting down a batch of thoughts I've had for a while and might periodically reblog this with more if they come to me!
- Cold blooded! He's got some very prominent insect traits and I think it would be funny for him to have it; he needs to be warm to be fully functional, and layers on clothes if it's too cold. He wakes up with the sunrise to bask in the light, opening his wings as soon as he's warm enough to do so and taking in as much heat as he can to wake up. Conversely, when he sleeps/rests, he doesn't use any blankets bc the cold makes him sleepy. STRUGGLES in cooler weather, gets noticeably lethargic and struggles to actually open his wings, in which the other guards try to let him take it easy since he's got no control over it.
- In addition to being cold-blooded, I think he's also got a more insect-oriented diet as well; butterflies and ants can only consume liquids, and by extent, I think Pouf would struggle with solid food. He can definitely still eat it, but it gives him massive stomach problems and it's just so much easier to completely puree everything he eats. Butterflies also have to supplement salt into their diets (in a behavior called "puddling" - they usually drink from puddles, but can also drink from tears, blood, and carrion), so I think he just dumps an insane amount of salt into his food sometimes. He canonically is a carnivore, but I saw someone else hc that he'd get into fruit bc of his bug traits and I love that idea a lot as well. Beautiful fruit smoothie but half of it is salt, just how he likes it.
- I've said it so many times and refuse to stop, he's neurodivergent, specifically ADHD/autistic. He's got noticeable difficulty interacting with the other ants, tends to stick with the same conversational topics, is exceptionally smart from an academic standpoint but flounders in social interactions, struggles with conceptualizing that the other ants won't automatically think the same way he does, has clear emotional dysregulation, adheres himself to a set of stringent personal rules, struggles greatly with change, has specialized interests he demonstrates high competence in, the list really goes on. I think it could be argued that he demonstrates mild hyperactivity in the way he's in near-constant motion, between his wings, the way he tends to talk with his hands, and his full body gestures and stances, but that one's a little more tenuous.
- His antennae work! He can pick up on pheromone cues and odorless chemicals in the air, and they produce full body reactions. Sometimes his anxiety spikes out of nowhere and he has to decide if it's just a scent or if he needs to take immediate action (it's mostly just scents). His antennae will also move, mostly unconsciously and on reflex. They're mostly small twitches, but occasionally more noticeable and large motions if he's actively picking up a pheromone. They're very sensitive to touch - poking one is the pain equivalent to poking him in the eye. The right touch, however, can be quite nice - the same way a person might massage their temples during a headache, he'll move his hands around the base of his antennae to much the same calming effect.
- More bug traits, his skin is reinforced with chitin like insect exoskeletons are. He got slapped across the face by Meruem's tail so hard that he was thrown across the room, but only sustained a bruise and some light bleeding (vs how Meruem was able to decapitate a human with no effort). Some of this can be chalked up to royal guard strength, but I like to imagine he's got a little something extra in there as well. The reinforcement of his skin stops around his hands - he wouldn't be able to use his violin otherwise.
- More biology thoughts, I think part of what makes him in particular so physically strong is because he's got insect traits in such a large body. That stat that goes something like "ants can lift up to 10x their own body weight"? Pouf is the size of a human, 10x his body weight is a hell of a lot more than an insect would be able to carry; succinctly describes why he's able to punch and kick boulders out of the air with no problem, in spite of being as thin as he is.
- He's capable of sleeping, but sleeps very lightly. A pin dropping can be enough to wake him up, and he wakes very quickly. He, of course, frames this as a good thing, something that lets him immediately mobilize if he's needed, but as a consequence, he doesn't sleep very much. Resting, of course, but actually sleeping? It can be a challenge.
- He's a big fan of classic lit, but you know those trashy romance novels? The ones that are a dime a dozen, very cheap, the same style of vaguely erotic photoshop on the covers? He loves them but manages to keep them pretty well hidden. It's the same plot over and over, but the emotions and sensuality draw him in. He did forget to put one away at one point and when the other guards found it, they never let him live it down
