BOTW Champion Headcannons: Monopoly Edition
Purrah does nothing except buy all the railroads.
Link buys one or two properties and then spends the rest of the game upgrading them.
Robbie insists on being the top hat.
Revali constantly winds up in jail and has no idea how.
Urbosa and Riju get into a bidding war over the boardwalk.
Yunobo opted not to play and hid in a corner for the duration of the game because the competition was too much pressure.
Zelda didn't play either and instead went on an info dump tangent about the flaws of capitalism.
Daruk agreed to be the banker and he kept slipping Mipha 100 dollar bills.
Sidon's just having a good time. Completely unbothered. Vibing.
Whenever someone asks Purrah for a trade she folds her hands and ominously goes, "Make me an offer I can't refuse."
Whenever Robbie passes jail he enthusiasticly waves at whoever is inside (usually Revali).
Teba stays silent the entire game and no one even realizes he's playing until the very end when he wins.
Riju will fist fight you over being the dog.

I've been absolutely obsessed with Tears of the Kingdom lately 😭
Warning potential spoilers
When I first saw Ganondorf under the castle I was like "haha WHY IS THERE A CORPSE" and then it started moving and cracking and I almost threw up.
Also, ZELDA NEEDS A BREAK. She spent a hundred years holding off Calamity Ganon and she's back for two seconds, but now there's another disaster, and she might be possessed by Ganondorf (at least that's my idea)
Anyways, when I started and got to the ground world, I hightailed it to the Zora Kingdom so I could see my beloved Sidon, and he's freaking engaged now??? I missed so much! Also, the statue of me and him saving Va Ruta made me cry happy tears.
ALSO PURRAH. I LOVE HER. SHE LOOKS FABULOUS. I am a little sad they took away some of her peppy spunk but she looks amazing
And Riju got taller! I'm so proud of her I adore her. Those weird corpse things in the Gerudo Desert did freak me out tho. Not a huuuuge fan.
Anyways, that's all the comments I have to share, once again sorry for not posting lately its hard to think of stuff for Overwatch/Tf2 when my brain is filled with Zelda.

Caves were a thing before the Upheaval. Why didn't Link throw or shoot a bunch of brightbulbs at the cavern walls instead of having Zelda carry around that dim torch?

Uh, guys, did you notice…this? It’s not exact, but it’s eerily close to an original concept evolving over time?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both zonai and sheikah are the only groups that we see tinkering with “fantasy robots” too
I was looking for references of Mineru and I started thinking about that general thought that most people were surprised there was no Sheika amongst the sages, or hoping that Purrah was going to inherit the spirit stone, and suddenly I kinda saw it?
Also Rauru’s third eye looks like it’s carved? And is very similar to what Zelda’s eyes look like when she does her thing
Nintendo gives us info please xD

So like. I love her, i adore her, she's an icon. But also is there something im missing why does purrah have a flute. She just has a flute now and she keeps pointing it at link and it never comes up or is explained. Do you know why she has a flute, as a certified purrah enjoyer? is this a reference to some Lore i'm unaware of as someone who has only played a tiny handful of zelda games? i'm asking the hard-hitting questions, here, clearly. thanks for ur time!
based on the way she holds it in-game, my best guess is that it's a stand-in for a pipe that they couldn't put in their e10+ game LMFAO. that being said i believe her botw model DID actually have a flute on the side of her randoseru (pictured below lol), so that's probably where the motif came from. not entirely sure why botw purah had it though. since it's connected to the randoseru which looks to be some sort of machine based on the antenna and general design motifs it's possible the flute could also be some form of sheikah tech? in her initial designs in creating a champion (also pictured below) the flute/randoseru combo looks more like a sheikah-themed ghostbusters vacuum lmao but my best guess is that when they were moving away from the more serious design she was conceptualized with and magical girl-ifying her they ended up with the flute-randoseru combo. in totk from a practical standpoint tho i rlly think they just wanted the vibe of Sexy Lady With Pipe without having to put an actual pipe in their game lol

So far it looks like we’re just turning purrah into the perfect lifeform a deathclaw
Okay listen, it's not my fault that deathclaws are hot.
There's probably some distant gene memory stuff from my proto-mammal ancestors at work here.

I think we don’t give Master Kohga, or at least the Yiga clan, enough credit. The fact they build impressive contraptions without the use of prefabrication or sticky stuff from Link’s arm is fucking impressive! We only really see that from Purrah and Robbie, which makes sense give their shared Shiekah heritage. But the Yiga come up with these impressive contraptions by themselves. That alone takes some genius!

My TotK experience and how it shaped my TotK shipping.
I'm writing this out because I got static on a random post for mentioning my headcanon, and I figure my own blog is a safe place to write it all down and get my experience in one place for better or worse. I'm a mutishipper by temprement, so you can and should ship what you like. Do not think by outlining my experience and thoughts I am trying to invalidate your own. Totk and BotW are both games with amazing emergent gameplay. The written narrative is only a fraction of the tale as you write your own version of events by what you choose to do and in what order you do it.
My wife is a huge Zelda fan. I enjoy the games, but she is the one who keeps them coming in. She's got a Triforce Engagement Pendant(try putting that on a ring!) we saw the Symphony of the Fates on our wedding night(and our first not-date years before) Zelda is a thing.
So I played BotW, and I played TotK. I enjoyed them both! At the end of BotW I was sure Zelink was a cute sure thing. I was happy! (My wife was frustrated Zelda didn't tell Link how she felt 😆)
Then we played TotK. Six years later, Zelda and Link are spelunking and boom the game yeets Zelda away. Couples-time, we barely knew ye. Now, both my wife and I play our own separate saves. We generally avoid spiling for each other, and we play quite differently. (In BotW I went right for the castle, found the basement, and ended up fighting the Stalnox that protected the Hylean Shield with 4 hearts. In TotK she mapped the entire underground early on)
My TotK experience began with me making a bee-line for Gerudo town after talking to Purrah/Robbie and exploring the castle a little. I liked the Gerudo plotline in BotW and wanted to see what was going down over there these days.
The Gerudo plotline is definitely fun (uh spoilers I guess?) Seeing Riju grown and trying to be a strong leader was awesome. (I have a headcanon she's still short because she met Link. She knew exactly how tall the strongest warrior in all of Hyrule was, and so why get any taller than that?)
I completed the temple, got my first sage power, and now several things converged.
1)Okay, so Riju's crush on Link in her Diary is cute. Not unique, everyone crushes on Link!
2)I decided to explore after completing this quest. Checking out the corners, completing my map, gaining some shrines, etc. This means I spent a lot of time with Riju as my only sage. We crossed Hyrule and back time and time again, checking on people, visiting old haunts, and fighting enemies way past my weapon's abilities thanks to her lighting.
3)Riju is the most interactive of the sage powers. Activate the power, and then you have to actually work with her to trigger it. It's not temperamental like Yunobo's either. Riju will hold ready for you for quite some time. It's also very versatile. Explode enemies, blow up mining points, and one of my favorites- Light the underdark. There's something deeply intimate about being surrounded by darkness with only your partner's power to light the way for you.
It made Riju one heck of a travel companion. Just having someone *anyone* along with Link, him not being alone, felt so good after being alone in BotW. The Warrior of Light and his Sage companion. Little tales wrote themselves, like an epic saga.
Still, Zelink was still a thing, right? Then You run into Link's old home in Hateno. It's changed, definitely. You find Zelda's lab. You find her Diary. -Now, here I know the Japanese version has a very different tone, but I didn't have that version so I only got the English- reading Zelda's words painted a picture of a close bond, but also not a classical 'ship' one. Combine this with some of the other tidbits and memories collected on the journey and it just painted a very different picture for me(and my wife) There may have been dialogs we missed too, it's a vast open world game, and this is a retelling of my playthrough, not a comprehensive thesis based on all the lore available on a wiki.
This Zelda, being Aro/Ace. Or at least if not, being so immersed in her work and duty that something like a traditional relationship isn't on the radar for her. She's got her Science. She's got her Kingdom. She's got her curiosity. These things Matter to her. A romantic relationship? Just didn't feel like it did.
Link is still the most important person in the world to her. He's her Knight. He's reliable, supportive, dedicated, brave. He's as vital to her as her own two hands. A respectful Link could easily be seen accepting this role. Zelda's vital to him too. He cares for her and will always be there. It's his duty, and his passion. The two are inseparable. They're just not a *couple*
So, where does this leave us? Link and Zelda will travel together always. Riju is Queen of the Gerudo and cannot just leave her people. She's also someone who my TotK Link spent time with (in my writer's brain the sage-mirages actually sent impressions back to the Sages in their dreams, and as time went by the link between the two could be two ways, like a form of active astral projection in a crisis)
So a RiLink relationship that is built on respect and trials together, but that understands the duties placed on both just seemed cute. He's still with Zelda, she's still with her people. She'll eventually end up with a hero's child, and the one male ever allowed into Gerudo town will be able to visit his future child and maybe even pave the way for a more open Gerudo society in the long run.
Zelda and Link are still constant companions day-to-day though. She's the Queen(eventually? Still princess?) he's her Knight. Their relationship is still built on respect and shared hardships(much like RiLink) They're just not an 'item'. They're liege and retainer.
I did the 'Wait how old is Riju?' thing as this was starting to come into focus, because she was young in BotW 😅 She's 17... I think? Fantasy setting, it seemed fine to ship. I mean, everyone thinks Mipha crushing on Link is adorable, and she saw him first when he was a little tot! 🤣
So, that's it really just kind of laying out my ship and why I think it's cute. I welcome any and all comments provided they're couched politiely.

i’m hyperfixated on LOZ again and i request more botw champion headcanons bc i miss them
Champion Headcanons P. 8
Sorry no TOTK characters, I haven't had time to play it yet ;-;
Link isn't allowed within 10 feet of a caffeinated beverage after what happened last time.
Link accidentally called Daruk dad one time and Daruk almost started crying.
Purrah figured out how to install mobile games on her shekiah slate and plays them during important meetings.
Yunobo crys when people yell at him, and Teba found that out the hard way.
Urbosa doesn't speak to pets in a baby voice. She treats them like an esteemed colleague.
Here are a couple different items from Robbie's bucket list: Invent shrink ray so I can carry Purrah around in my pocket, clone all the champions just to see what happens, lick the malice goop, slowly replace all of Revali's weapons with foam look alikes, etc.
Zelda has sensory issues.
Sidon talks with his hands and has definitely hit someone (probably Teba) in the face because he got too excited.
Mipha has a fear of heights.
Urbosa had a pet snake at some point.
Both Link and Riju will never back down from dare and they have definitely almost died because of their stubbornness.
Revali can't swim.
Sidon's height, build, and the fact that he basically has a mouth full of shark teeth is incredibly intimidating, but he's completely unaware of that.
Link once hosted a DnD campaign for all the champions and all hell broke lose.

Linked Universe headcanons
Maybe one day when they're all taking a break from travelling they'll start chatting and someone will bring up the topic of people they've met on their adventures.
Time will mention Ruto, Malon, Saria, etc... (He avoids mentioning anyone in Termina and Navi)
Hyrule will probably mention the old man, old lady, the great fairies, and Zelda.
Wind will mention Linebeck, Tetra(or Zelda, I guess), etc.
Sky will mention Zelda, Groose, Impa, etc.
Four will probably mention the three great fairies, Zelda, Ezlo, and the Minish.
Wild will mention Sidon, Riju, Tulin, Yunabo, Kass, Hestu, Robbie, Impa, Purrah, Zelda, Beedle, etc...
Everything will be fine until it's Warrior's turn to talk.
At first it will start off with him mentioning Tetra, Wind, Ruto, Impa, Sheik, Medli, and someone he calls 'Mask' or 'Sprite'. As well as Ravio and Fi.
But then he mentions Midna.
Of course Twilight angst and whatnot, blah blah blah...
But it gets worse.
He then mentions Marin.
Immediate outburst from Legend, mayhaps...
Or maybe he becomes extremely tense as he slowly mentally spirals inside his mind because 'Marin wasn't real, but if she wasn't real how did Warriors meet her???' And probably... 'MARIN'S ALIVE?!?!'
Yep. I think lots of Legend angst. Maybe even a fight between Wars and Legend due to Legend's disbelief. "You're lying." "What are you talking about?" "Marin isn't real."

Hello I'm here to rant about Tears of the Kingdom again because no one can stop me
Once again, Warning for Spoilers
So I know Purrah said I should go to the Rito first but who cares about what the game wants me to do so I went and helped Sidon first
The Water Temple was pretty easy but the boss took ten minutes for me and I finished with two weapons and no arrows soo I was severely underprepared
Also I love how all the kingdoms problems is like: The Zora Kingdom: Their Water supply is polluted, The Rito Kingdom: They're being buried in snow, The Gerudo Kingdom: Giant Sandstorm destroyed their town and The Gorons... they're on drugs
WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY SWEET YUNOBO THOUGH!? I showed up, and apparently, Fake Zelda gave him a mask and turned him into a drug dealer????
Also I had my first boss fight with Master Kohga and the Yiga Music SLAPS THOUGH. Like I spent a straight five minutes just JAMMING. So much better than the first game
Alright that's all for now thanks for listening 🫶

Wild: Ancient Sheikah researchers, can you lick the science?
Zelda (biologist): Sometimes needed, sometimes dangerous. Sometimes, it licks you.
Paya (psychologist): Best not.
Purrah (computer scientist): Nothing else has make the code work, so you might as well try.
Symin (chemist): Dear Hylia NO! DON’T!
Robbie (roboticist): The tingle of blue energy on your tongue is how you know it’s working.
Jerrin (astronomer): ...If your dedication to lick Uranus is what gets us to another planet, then so be it.
Wild: Good to know.
